Stellare Abänderungen und Schälbarkeit von Komplexen und Polytopen

Brugesser and Mani proved that the boundary-complex of a convex polytope can be shelled. This result lead to McMullen's proof of the Upper-bound-conjecture. We show that the shellability of complexes has a close connection to the theory of stellar operations. Several results on special shelling procedures and on non-shellable complexes are obtained.     

Vollständige und B-vollständige topologische Vektorgruppen Graphensätze und Open-Mapping Theorems

We are studying complete and B-complete topological vector groups. These Objects have been introduced by P. Kenderov [6] and D. A. Raikov [11]. They form a category TVG intermediate to the categories of topological Abelian groups and topological vector spaces and are close enough to the last one to give many useful applications to it. We first consider the problem of completion in the most used subcategories of TVG. A special functor allows to play back permanence property questions of completeness in locally convex vector groups to the same questions for locally convex vector spaces. Some examples of complete locally convex vector groups follow. We then unify some differently defined notions of B-completeness and generalize well known theorems concerning B-complete locally convex topological vector spaces to locally convex topological vector groups. Barrelledness concepts introduced in 9 and a special functor constructed in section 6 are used to formulate analogues of the closed graph and open mapping theorem for locally convex vector groups. The remainder of the note is left for applications to locally convex vector spaces. Many theorems about 1^p-sums of normed spaces are proved, as well as the B-completeness of a vast class of locally convex vector spaces including the spaces and of Köthe ([7], §13, No 5,6).

Ohne ZusammenfassungEs handelt sich um die kurze Darstellung eines Ausschnitts einer Theorie, über welche der Verfasser u. a. im Dezember 1951 in Münster i. W. und in Erlangen vorgetragen hat. Die Zerlegungsleichheit von Funktionen und der Einbau dieses Begriffes in die axiomatische Integrationstheorie wurde von A.Kirsch [4] eingehend untersucht. Die Deckungsgleichheit wurde im gleichen Zusammenhang vom Verfasser in einem Kolloquium über abstrakte Integrationstheorie (Sommersemester 1951 in Bern) herangezogen. Alexander Ostrowski zum 60. Gruppenuniversalität und Homogenisierbarkeit

Summary For a classC of structures there are two archetypical questions: 1) Is every group G the full automorphism group of some C C? and 2) May every C C embedded into some homogeneous H C, i.e. into a structure H enjoying some transitivity properties? Using model theoretic language and conditions on the existence of certain free constructions withinC, some rather general positive answers to these questions are obtained. These abstract results give some (methodical) unification to a variety of theorems for some very concrete classesC of combinatorial, geometrical or algebraic nature in the literature. To underline this point, the major part of the paper is devoted to a systematic survey of classesC of structures in which our general approach is applicable, included many classesC for which our type of questions has not yet been considered.

Ein erster Vergleich zwischen Theorie und Praxis bestätigt die Übereinstimmung im Ausmaße der Untersuchungsfehler. Weitere Untersuchungen hierzu sind notwendig und werden angekündigt.

Further studies in this connection prove to be indispensible and are put on schedule.

Every set of k-rational points of a projective variety is homeomorphic to the maximal spectrum of some k-algebra. 2. A properly defined real divisor class group of normal -variety is a /2-vectorspace.In this paper we obtain generalizations which say: The hypothesis, that a fixed polynomial has no zero modulo some prime ideals, has strong conclusions.
