Parametric resonance phenomena are investigated in a plasma layer with thickness d and thin inhomogeneous boundary regions. The modulated UHF electric field is parallel to the plasma layer. We consider both strong and low modulation of the field amplitude and suppose, that the carrier frequency ω0 of the pump wave is much larger than the Langmuir frequency ωLe. We find the region for the modulation frequency ω, in which the parametric growing of the asymmetric and symmetric surface waves occurs. The maximum growth rates of these waves, the direction of their propagation and the threshold value of the modulation depth α of the UHF pump field are calculation.  相似文献

The transient nutation of states dressed by a microwave field in a two-level system (E1 centers in a quartz crystal) is observed in pulsed electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) in the course of an additional pulse of a linearly polarized radio-frequency (rf) field that has an amplitude 2B2 and is applied parallel to the static magnetic field. It is shown that, when the frequency of the rf field coincides with the frequency of nutation of the bare spin system, the signal of this nutation is modulated by the nutation of dressed states at the frequency ω2B2, where γ is the electron gyromagnetic ratio. The decay time of nutation of dressed states is considerably (no less than four times) longer than that of bare states of E1 centers due to spin-spin relaxation and correlates with the spin-lattice relaxation time in the rotating coordinate system.  相似文献

Two microwave frequencies ω1 and ω2 simultaneously exciting a paramagnetic spin probe near the resonance condition ω1 = γB 0 effect a pattern of resonances occurring at multiples of the difference frequency δ = ω2 ? ω1. Their intensities, measured in the absorption or dispersion mode in the magnetic field-sweep experiment, decrease rapidly as the distance from the centerband increases. Numerically solved Bloch equations are used to discuss the intensities of the transverse components of magnetization up to seven, harmonics of the frequency difference δ. In conclusion, it is suggested that the experimental investigation of these patterns can be used for the purpose of a continuous-wave monitoring the relaxation rates of spin probes.  相似文献

The dynamics of a two-level spin system dressed by bichromatic radiation is studied under the conditions of double resonance when the frequency of one (microwave) field is equal to the Larmor frequency of the spin system and the frequency of the other (radio-frequency) field ωrf is close to the Rabi frequency ω1 in a microwave field. It is shown theoretically that Rabi oscillations between dressed-spin states with the frequency ? are accompanied by higher-frequency oscillations at frequencies nωrf and nωrf ± ?, where n = 1, 2,.... The most intense among these are the signals corresponding to n = 1. The counter-rotating (antiresonance) components of the RF field give rise to a shift of the dressed-state energy, i.e., to a frequency shift similar to the Bloch-Siegert shift. In particular, this shift is manifested as the dependence of the Rabi-oscillation frequency ? on the sign of the detuning ω1 ? ωrf from resonance. In the case of double resonance, the oscillation amplitude is asymmetric; i.e., the amplitude at the sum frequency ωrf + ? increases, while the amplitude at the difference frequency ωrf ? ? decreases. The predicted effects are confirmed by observations of the nutation signals of the electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) of E1 centers in quartz and should be taken into account to realize qubits with a low Rabi frequency in solids.  相似文献

A thermodynamic theory has been developed on the relaxation strength of mechanical relaxation due to energy-transfer between strain-sensitive (intermolecular) modes and strain-insensitive (intramolecular) modes. Assuming that the strain-insensitive modes exhibit an overwhelmingly large heat capacity and function as a heat reservoir of constant temperature during the relaxation process, the relaxation strength ΔG, the difference between instantaneous and equilibrium moduli, is given as ΔG = TG2 Tα2 1/Cz1, where T is the absolute temperature, GT is the isothermal elastic modulus, and 1 and Cz1 are the thermal expansion coefficient and the specific heat at constant strain of the strainsensitive modes, respectively. This assumption is reasonable for a polymeric solid in which backbone chains have a lot of vibrational degrees of freedom whose energy is rather insensitive to intermolecular distance and, on the contrary, the potential for localized motion such as motion of side chains is highly sensitive to intermolecular distance.

In a special case where the strain-sensitive modes are a set of vibrators with an angular frequency ω, ΔG = γ2Cz1T, where γ is the Grüneisen constant, defined by the strain-derivative of ω, = ?? In ω?z. The case where the strainsensitive modes are a set of rotators in an n-fold symmetrical potential can be treated as an extension of the above case. In the case where the strain-sensitive modes involve the transition between two states, ΔG in the present theory is reduced to that of the well-known two-state transition theory. Agreement is obtained between theory and experiment for a-methyl relaxation of poly(methy1 methacrylate).  相似文献

The different crystal structures of ferromagnetic Ni2MnGa have been calculated using density functional theory (DFT) with special emphasis on the modulated structures 10M and 14M. These are important for understanding the stability of Ni2MnGa martensites and their functionality as shape-memory materials. The modulated structures have been optimized in the calculations and their properties are discussed in relation to the structures without modulation. The occurrence of the modulated structures is related to the soft TA2 phonon mode observed in Ni2MnGa. The latter is related to the specific nesting behaviour of the Fermi surface in Ni2MnGa. Particular shapes of the modulated structures are stabilized by the covalent interaction mediated by the p-orbitals of Ga and d-orbitals of Ni. The role of this interaction becomes clear when considering the phonon dispersion spectrum of Ni2MnGa, where characteristic anomalies occur in the coupling of acoustical vibrational modes and the optical modes of Ni.  相似文献

A matrix technique to calculate signals recorded using the microwave amplitude-modulation technique is described. The calculations are carried out for spin packets, on and off resonance, to take into account inhomogeneous broadening. Both, the transverse component of magnetization representing the continuous-wave signal in a resonator, such as a cross-looped resonator, as well as the signal (electromotive force) induced in a pickup coil oriented parallel to the external magnetic field, are calculated for an arbitrary value of the coefficient of modulation. This is accomplished by solving the relevant Bloch equations in the rotating frame for the case when the amplitude of the microwave field is modulated by a sinusoidal wave, using Fourier expansions of the longitudinal and transverse components of the magnetization in Bloch equations. This results in a series of coupled equations inM α(n) (α=y,zz), the magnetic moments of vaarious orders, leading to a penta-diagonal matrix of infinite dimension. These equations are then truncated and solved by a fast matrix technique to calculateM α(n), required to calculate the modulation signals as functions of the amplitudemodulation frequency Ω. It is outlined how to exploit the expressions for the modulation signals to estimate the spin-lattice relaxation timesT 1 and spin-spin relaxation timesT 2 accurately by the leastsquares procedure, fitting simultaneously all signals obtained for spin packets, on and off resonance, at various modulation frequencies. The theory of the longitudinal (with respect to an external magnetic field) response of a combined spin system of localized paramagnetic centers (s subsystem) and free charge carriers (e subsystem) of a solid semiconductor to modulated saturation of EPR is developed. In contrast to relevant studies made earlier, the general case is considered of an arbitrary modulation frequency and arbitrary detuning of the saturating microwave field with respect to the central EPR frequency. A theoretical approach is used in which normal modes are considered in analyzing coupled oscillations of the spin magnetizations of the s and e subsystems. It is shown that, in the case of relaxation coupling between the subsystems, the longitudinal response recorded at the modulation frequency can be represented as the sum of the responses of the normal modes, each of which is described by a universal resonance lineshape that is different, in general, from the Lorentzian lineshape characteristic of EPR signals. In the extreme cases of weak and strong coupling, simple analytical formulas are derived. The results presented form a theoretical basis for applying the method of modulated longitudinal response for measuring very short longitudinal spin relaxation times in semiconductors with paramagnetic impurities. As an example, experimental data are presented for activated carbon containing stable free radicals.  相似文献

The parametric excitation of longitudinal waves in an infinite homogeneous plasma by a pump field E (t) = E 0(t) sin (ω0t + φ(t)) is studied on the basis of the Vlasov equation, where the amplitude E 0(t) and the phase φ(t) are slowly varying compared with ω0 periodic functions. Firstly it is assumed that ω0 is much larger than the electron plasma frequency ωLe. In the second part the parametric instabilities are considered under the resonance condition ω0 ≈ ωLe. In both parts the threshold fields for the excitation of the longitudinal waves and their growth rates are calculated. As an example these values are analysed for both a sequence of pump impulses and a phase-moduated pump field. They are compared with the results received for a monochromatic pump field.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Dielectric properties of 0.5Ba(Ti0.8Zr0.2)O3–0.5(Ba0.7Ca0.3)TiO3 ceramics were probed in the frequency range from 10 Hz to 100 THz in a broad temperature range (10–900 K). Polar soft phonon observed in infrared spectra softens with cooling; however, below 500 K, its frequency becomes temperature independent. Simultaneously, a central mode activates in terahertz and microwave spectra; and it actually drives the ferroelectric phase transitions. Consequently, the phase transitions strongly resemble a crossover between the displacive and order–disorder type. The central mode vanishes below 200 K. The dielectric relaxation in the radiofrequency and microwave range anomalously broadens on cooling below TC1, resulting in the nearly frequency independent dielectric loss below 200 K. This broadening comes from a broad frequency distribution of ferroelectric domain wall vibrations. Raman spectra reveal new phonons below 400 K, i.e. already 15 K above TC1. Several weak modes are detected in the paraelectric phase up to 500 K in Raman spectra. Activation of these modes is ascribed to the presence of polar nanoclusters in the material.  相似文献

Resonances of vibrational modes were for the first time revealed for the example of the one-dimensional random Morse lattice. The observation of resonances was possible because of lattice deformation, when, at certain relative deformation values, vibrational modes satisfied the conditions of double (m i ω i + m j ω j = 0) or triple (m i ω i + m j ω j + m k ω k = 0) resonances. Of all the resonances observed, the resonance with the frequency ratio ω2: ω1 = 2: 1 was studied in detail. The dependences of mode lifetimes and the degree of energy exchange between them on such parameters as resonance frequency detuning, excitation energy level, etc. were determined. A model of two nonlinearly coupled harmonic oscillators was considered in detail on the assumption of a one-to-one correspondence between oscillators and vibrational modes. A consideration of the model problem of oscillators revealed analytic dependences of the dynamic behavior of vibrational modes on control parameters. Excellent agreement between the numerical results for the Morse lattice and analytic conclusions was obtained. It was shown that, for the Fermi-Pasta-Ulam lattice, the resonance interaction of vibrational modes was controlled by the same rules as with the Morse lattice.  相似文献

The quasi-confined (QC) phonon modes, surface optical (SO) phonon modes and corresponding Fröhlich-like Hamiltonian in a wurtzite cylindrical nanowire with ring geometry are investigated in the framework of the dielectric continuum model and Loudon’s uniaxial crystal model. Numerical calculations are focused on the dispersion relations of the SO phonons and the electron–SO phonon coupling strength. Results show that there are only two branches of SO phonon modes. The dispersions of the two branches of SO phonon modes are obvious when the phonon wave-number kz or the azimuthal quantum number m is small. Typical degenerating behavior of the SO modes is evidenced due to the anisotropic effect of wurtzite crystal. Moreover, when kz or m are large enough, the frequencies of the two branches of SO modes converge to a definite limiting frequency in single planar heterostructure. The calculations of the electron–SO phonon coupling strength reveal that the high-frequency SO modes (SO+) play a more important role in the coupling strength than the low-frequency ones (SO). Furthermore, the long-wavelength SO phonons with small m are the main factor contributing to the electron–phonon interaction.  相似文献

We consider the influence of an ω-dependent ionic dielectric constant ?(ω) on the properties of a superconductor. Assuming that the pairing interaction is proportional to ?2 we have solved the Eliashberg equations for this case, both for imaginary and real frequencies. The interaction potential depends on a coupling constant λ and on a longitudinal phonon frequency Ω. The dielectric constant is assumed to be independent of wavevector q, and to depend on frequency through the expression: ?(ω) = (ω2 - ω2long)/(ω2 - ω2trans), where ωlong, ωtrans are the frequencies of optical phonons of the dielectric. We find that along the imaginary frequency axis (but not for real frequencies) the weighted phonon propagator can be modeled by an appropriate choice of a cutoff frequency and an effective coupling constant. The influence of ?(ω) on Tc, the gap δ(ω), and the renormalization function Z(ω) are studied and it is found that these quantities increase significantly with the dielectric constant.  相似文献

The size and shape dependence of the properties of long wave optical phonons in polar crystals is discussed. The main effect occurring due to the presence of surfaces is the appearance of a surface optical phonon band in the frequency region between the frequencies ωt and ωl of the long wave transverse and longitudinal bulk modes. The surface modes give rise to strong absorption peaks in the infrared absorption spectra of small samples. For very small crystallites the surface mode absorption is dominant, and as the size of the specimens is increased, the ratio of surface to bulk mode absorption decreases. It is shown that the large spread in particle sizes usually encountered in experimental work and the increased damping of the phonon modes in small samples both tend to obscure the fine structure of the absorption spectrum. The surface phonon-plasmon modes in polar crystals containing free carriers are treated in an analogous manner.  相似文献

A detailed experimental study of electron cyclotron resonance (CR) has been carried out at 4.2 K in three modulation-doped GaAs/Al0.3Ga0.7As multiple quantum well samples in fields up to 30 T. A strong avoided-level-crossing splitting of the CR energies due to resonant magnetopolaron effects is observed for all samples near the GaAs reststrahlen region. Resonant splittings in the region of AlAs-like interface phonon modes of the barriers are observed in two samples with narrower well width and smaller doping concentration. The interaction between electrons and the AlAs interface optical phonon modes has been calculated for our specific sample structures in the framework of the memory-function formalism. The calculated results are in good agreement with the experimental results, which confirms our assignment of the observed splitting near the AlAs-like phonon region is due to the resonant magnetopolaron interaction of electrons in the wells with AlAs-like interface phonons.  相似文献

In this article, a detailed study of the forced asymmetric non-linear vibrations of circular plates with a free edge is presented. The dynamic analogue of the von Kàrmàn equations is used to establish the governing equations. The plate displacement at a given point is expanded on the linear natural modes. The forcing is harmonic, with a frequency close to the natural frequency ωkn of one asymmetric mode of the plate. Thus, the vibration is governed by the two degenerated modes corresponding to ωkn, which are one-to-one internally resonant. An approximate analytical solution, using the method of multiple scales, is presented. Attention is focused on the case where one configuration which is not directly excited by the load gets energy through non-linear coupling with the other configuration. Slight imperfections of the plate are taken into account. Experimental validations are presented in the second part of this paper.  相似文献

It is experimentally demonstrated that the surface excitation of liquid hydrogen at a low frequency results in the turbulent mode in a system of capillary waves. The experimental results are in good agreement with the theory of weak wave turbulence. The pair correlation function of the surface deviations is described by the exponential function ωm. The exponent m decreases in magnitude from m=?3.7±0.3 to ?2.8±0.2 when the pumping at a single resonant frequency changes to broadband noise excitation. Measurements are made of the dependence of the boundary frequency ωb of the upper edge of the inertial range in which the Kolmogorov spectrum is formed on the wave amplitude ηp at the pumping frequency. It is demonstrated that the obtained data are well described by a function of the form ωb∝η p 4/3 ω p 23/9 .  相似文献
