Photolysis of ester 1 in argon‐saturated methanol and acetonitrile does not produce any product, whereas irradiation of 1 in oxygen‐saturated methanol yields peroxide 2 . Laser flash photolysis studies demonstrate that 1 undergoes intramolecular H atom abstraction to form biradical 3 (λ max ~ 340   nm), which intersystem crosses to form photoenols Z ‐ 4 and E ‐ 4 (λ max ~ 380   nm). Photoenols 4 decay by regenerating ester 1 . With the aid of density functional theory calculations, it was concluded the photoenol E ‐ 4 does not undergo spontaneous lactonization or electrocyclic ring closure because the transition state barriers for these reactions are too large to compete with reketonization of E ‐ 4 to form 1 .  相似文献

The 1‐cyclopropyl‐6‐fluoro‐1,4‐dihydro‐4‐oxo‐7‐(piperazin‐1‐yl)quinoline‐3‐carboxylic acid (=ciprofloxacin; 1 ) undergoes low‐efficiency (Φ=0.07) substitution of the 6‐fluoro by an OH group on irradiation in H2O via the ππ* triplet (detected by flash photolysis, λmax 610 nm, τ 1.5 μs). Decarboxylation is a minor process (≤5%). The addition of sodium sulfite or phosphate changes the course of the reaction under neutral conditions. Reductive defluorination is the main process in the first case, while defluorination is accompanied by degradation of the piperazine moiety in the presence of phosphate. In both cases, the initial step is electron‐transfer quenching of the triplet (kq=2.3⋅108M −1 s−1 and 2.2⋅107M −1 s−1, respectively). Oxoquinoline derivative 1 is much more photostable under acidic conditions, and in this case the F‐atom is conserved, and the piperazine group is stepwise degraded (Φ=0.001).  相似文献

The well‐known photochromic tautomerism of 2‐(2,4‐dinitrobenzyl)pyridine ( 1 ; CH; Scheme 1) was re‐investigated by flash photolysis in aqueous solution in view of its potential application as a light‐activated proton pump. Irradiation of 1 yields the enamine tautomer NH (λmax=520 nm) that rapidly equilibrates with its conjugate base CNO? (λmax=420 nm). The pH–rate profile for the first‐order decay of NH and CNO? provides a direct determination of the acidity constant of NH, pK =5.94±0.12 (I=0.1M ) and serves to clarify the mechanisms of proton transfer prevailing in aqueous solutions. The acidity constant of protonated 1 (CHNH+), pK =4.18±0.02, was determined by spectrophotometric titration.  相似文献

[reaction: see text] Photolysis of 3 in argon-saturated 2-propanol led to formation of 5 via intermolecular H-atom abstraction followed by lactonization. Irradiation of 4 in 2-propanol gave compounds 6 and 7 that also come from intermolecular H-atom abstraction. In contrast, photolysis of an oxygen-saturated solution of 3 in 2-propanol yields products 8, 9, and 10, which were all formed from intramolecular H-atom abstraction and trapping of the corresponding biradical with oxygen. Laser flash photolysis of 3 in methanol showed formation of biradical 3BR (lambda(max) 330 nm, and tau = 50 ns) via intramolecular H-atom abstraction as the main photoreactivity of 3. Biradical 3BR decayed into photoenols 3Z and 3E (lambda(max) 390 nm, tau = 6.5 micros and tau = 162 micros, respectively). In comparison, laser flash photolysis of 4 yielded photoenols 4Z and 4E (lambda(max) 390 nm, tau = 15 micros and tau = 3.6 ms, respectively). Thus photoenol 3E is unusually short-lived, and therefore it does not undergo the intramolecular lactonization as we have observed for the analogous photoenol 1E. Photoenol 3Z decays back to 3 via an intramolecular 1,5-H shift, whereas photoenol 3E reforms 3 efficiently via the solvent with the aid of the ortho ester group. The intramolecular lactonization of photoenols 1E and 3E must be a slow process, presumably because the photoenols are rigid and the hydroxyl group is inhibited, by intramolecular hydrogen bonding, from acquiring the correct geometry for lactonization. Thus only photoenols that are resistant to reformation of their ketone via the solvent are long-lived enough to undergo lactonization and release the alcohol moiety.  相似文献

Sodium salts of water‐soluble polymers poly{[2,5‐bis(3‐sulfonatopropoxy)‐1,4‐phenylene]‐alt‐[2,5‐bis(hexyloxy)‐1,4‐phenylene]} ( P1 ), poly{[2,5‐bis(3‐sulfonatopropoxy)‐1,4‐phenylene]‐alt‐[2,5‐bis(dodecyloxy)‐1,4‐phenylene]} ( P2 ), poly{[2,5‐bis(3‐sulfonatopropoxy)‐1,4‐phenylene]‐alt‐[2,5‐bis(dibenzyloxy)‐1,4‐phenylene]} ( P3 ), poly[2‐hexyloxy‐5‐(3‐sulfonatopropoxy)‐1,4‐phenylene] ( P4 ), and poly[2‐dodecyloxy‐5‐(3‐sulfonatopropoxy)‐1,4‐phenylene] ( P5 )] were synthesized with Suzuki coupling reactions and fully characterized. The first group of polymers ( P1 – P3 ) with symmetric structures gave lower absorption maxima [maximum absorption wavelength (λmax) = 296–305 nm] and emission maxima [maximum emission wavelength (λem) = 361–398 nm] than asymmetric polymers P4 (λmax = 329 nm, λem = 399 nm) and P5 (λmax = 335 nm, λem = 401 nm). The aggregation properties of polymers P1 – P5 in different solvent mixtures were investigated, and their influence on the optical properties was examined in detail. Dynamic light scattering studies of the aggregation behavior of polymer P1 in solvents indicated the presence of aggregated species of various sizes ranging from 80 to 800 nm. The presence of alkoxy groups and 3‐sulfonatopropoxy groups on adjacent phenylene rings along the polymer backbone of the first set hindered the optimization of nonpolar interactions. The alkyl chain crystallization on one side of the polymer chain and the polar interactions on the other side allowed the polymers ( P4 and P5 ) to form a lamellar structure in the polymer lattice. Significant quenching of the polymer fluorescence upon the addition of positively charged viologen derivatives or cytochrome‐C was also observed. The quenching effect on the polymer fluorescence confirmed that the newly synthesized polymers could be used in the fabrication of biological and chemical sensors. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A series of novel iodinated NO2‐substituted aza‐BODIPYs have been synthesized and characterized. Highly desirable photophysical and photochemical properties were induced in NO2‐substituted aza‐BODIPYs by iodination of the pyrrole rings. In particular, high values of singlet oxygen quantum yields (ΦΔ) ranging from 0.79 to 0.85 were measured. The photooxygenation process proceeds via a Type II mechanism under the experimental conditions applied. The compounds studied exhibited an absorption band within the so‐called “therapeutic window”, with λmax located between 645 nm to 672 nm. They were non‐fluorescent at room temperature with excited singlet‐state lifetimes within the picosecond range as measured by femtosecond transient absorption. Nanosecond laser flash photolysis experiments revealed T1→Tn absorption spanning from ca. 400 nm to ca. 500 nm and allowed determination of the triplet‐state lifetimes. The estimated triplet lifetimes (τT) in deaerated acetonitrile ranged between 2.74 μs and 3.50 μs. As estimated by CV/DPV measurements, all iodinated aza‐BODIPYs studied exhibited one irreversible oxidation and two quasi‐reversible reductions processes. Estimation of the EHOMO gave the value of ?6.06 to ?6.26 eV while the ELUMO was found to be located at ca. ?4.6 eV. Thermogravimetric (TGA) analysis revealed that iodinated aza‐BODIPYs were stable up to approximately 300 °C. All compounds studied exhibit high photostability in toluene solution.  相似文献

In contrast to the UV‐photoinduced ligand photoionization of the flavonoid complexes of FeIII, redox reactions initiated in ligand‐to‐metal charge‐transfer excited states were observed on irradiation of the quercetin ( 1 ) and rutin ( 2 ) complexes of CuII. Solutions of complexes with stoichiometries [CuIIL2] (L=quercetin, rutin) and [CuII2Ln] (n=1, L=quercetin; n=3, L=rutin) were flash‐irradiated at 351 nm. Transient spectra observed in these experiments showed the formation of radical ligands corresponding to the one‐electron oxidation of L and the reduction of CuII to CuI. The radical ligands remained coordinated to the CuI centers, and the substitution reactions replacing them by solvent occurred with lifetimes τ<350 ns. These are lifetimes shorter than the known lifetimes (τ>1 ms) of the quercetin and rutin radical's decay.  相似文献

Triplet arylnitrenes may provide direct access to aryl azo-dimers, which have broad commercial applicability. Herein, the photolysis of p-azidostilbene ( 1 ) in argon-saturated methanol yielded stilbene azo-dimer ( 2 ) through the dimerization of triplet p-nitrenostilbene (3 1N ). The formation of 3 1N was verified by electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy and absorption spectroscopy (λmax ~ 375 nm) in cryogenic 2-methyltetrahydrofuran matrices. At ambient temperature, laser flash photolysis of 1 in methanol formed 3 1N (λmax ~ 370 nm, 2.85 × 107 s−1). On shorter timescales, a transient absorption (λmax ~ 390 nm) that decayed with a similar rate constant (3.11 × 107 s−1) was assigned to a triplet excited state (T) of 1 . Density functional theory calculations yielded three configurations for T of 1 , with the unpaired electrons on the azido (TA) or stilbene moiety (TTw, twisted and TFl, flat). The transient was assigned to TTw based on its calculated spectrum. CASPT2 calculations gave a singlet–triplet energy gap of 16.6 kcal mol−1 for 1 N ; thus, intersystem crossing of 1 1N to 3 1N is unlikely at ambient temperature, supporting the formation of 3 1N from T of 1 . Thus, sustainable synthetic methods for aryl azo-dimers can be developed using the visible-light irradiation of aryl azides to form triplet arylnitrenes.  相似文献

π‐Conjugated polymers (Poly1–Poly3) containing a 2,2′‐bipyridine (bpy) unit were subjected to coordination to nickel and copper dithiolate for the purpose of manipulating the photophysical properties. The absorption maximum peak of Poly1 [maximum wavelength (λmax) = 446 nm] redshifted by 36 nm upon the coordination of bpy to NiCl2, which produced Poly1–NiCl2. A further bathochromic shift was observed in the spectrum of Poly1–mntNi [mntNi = (maleonitrile dithiolate)nickel; λmax = 499 nm] bearing the dithiolate ligand, which stemmed from the extension of the conjugated system over the nickel dithiolate moiety through the bpy unit. An increase in the [Ni]/[bpy] ratio in Poly1–mntNi rendered the original maximum peak at 446 nm smaller and the lower energy charge‐transfer peak at 499 nm larger; the isosbestic points remained at 380 and 475 nm. The green fluorescence (λmax = 504 nm) emitted from Poly1 markedly diminished upon the coordination of nickel dithiolate because of the effective energy transfer. The absorption maximum peak of Poly1–mntNi in chloroform at 499 nm blueshifted to 471 nm when the volume ratio of the chloroform/N,N‐dimethylformamide solvent reached 10:90. The coordination of nickel dithiolate to Poly2 and Poly3 also brought about redshifts of the absorption maximum peaks of as much as 55 and 61 nm, respectively. The absorption maximum peak of Poly1–(phenyldithiolate)nickel(pdtNi) (λmax = 474 nm) redshifted by 28 nm in comparison with that of Poly1, whereas the magnitude of the shift of Poly1–bis(thiophenoxide)nickel(btpNi) bearing two thiophenoxide ligands was 20 nm. Poly1–mntCu with a tetrahedral copper center was also investigated. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 42: 2631–2639, 2004  相似文献

The reaction of 2,5‐diiodo‐1,4‐benzenedicarbonyl chloride, C6H2I2(COCl)2p, with 4‐hydroxy‐2,2,6,6‐tetramethyl‐1‐piperidinyloxy (TEMPO‐ol) gave I–Ph(COO–TEMPO)2–I, Monomer‐1. Pd‐catalyzed polycondensation of Monomer‐1 with Me3Sn‐Th‐SnMe3 (2,5‐bis(trimethylstannyl)thiophene) and Bu3Sn–CH = CH–SnBu3 (1,2‐bis‐(tributylstannyl)ethylene) gave the corresponding π‐conjugated polymers, Polymer‐1 and Polymer‐2, respectively. Monomer‐1 was converted to a diethynyl compound, H–C ≡ C–Ph(COO–TEMPO)2–C ≡ C–H (Monomer‐1'), and Pd‐catalyzed polycondensation between Monomer‐1 and Monomer‐1' gave a π‐conjugated poly(arylene ethynylene) type polymer, Polymer‐3. According to the expansion of the π‐conjugation system by the polymerization, the UV–vis peaks of Monomer‐1 (λmax = 323 nm) and Monomer‐1' (327 nm) are shifted to longer wavelengths (λmax = 365 nm, 385 nm, and 396 nm for Polymer‐1, Polymer‐2, and Polymer‐3, respectively). Polymer‐1–Polymer‐3 showed ESR signals at about g = 2.01 with reasonable intensities. They are electrochemically active and showed a peak current anodic (oxidation) peak at about 0.9 V versus Ag/AgCl, which is reasonable for TEMPO polymers. Photoreduction of 7H‐benzo[e]perimidin‐7‐one (3‐AOIA, A1) and its 2‐methyl derivative (2‐Me‐3‐AOIA, A2) by non‐H‐donating amines (1,4‐diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane [DABCO]; 2,2,6,6‐tetramethylpiperidine [TMP]), and a hydrogen‐donating amine (triethylamine [TEA]), has been studied in deaerated neat acetonitrile solutions using laser flash photolysis (LFP) and steady‐state photolysis. The triplet excited states of A1 and A2 were characterized by a strong absorption band with λmax = 440 nm and lifetimes of 20 and 27 μs respectively. In the presence of tertiary amines, both triplet excited states were quenched with rate constants close to the diffusional limit (kq ranged between 109 and 1010 M?1 s?1). The transient absorption spectra observed after quenching with DABCO and TMP were characterized by maxima located at 460 nm and broad shoulders in the range of 500–600 nm. These transient species are attributed to solvent‐separated radical ion pairs and/or to isolated radical anions. In the presence of TEA, these transients undergo proton transfer, leading to the neutral hydrogenated radicals, protonated over the N1‐ and O‐atoms. Transient absorption spectra of these transients were characterized by maxima located at 400 and 520 nm and 430 nm respectively. Additional support for these spectral assignments was provided by pulse radiolysis (PR) experiments in acetonitrile and 2‐propanol solutions.  相似文献

The intramolecular [2+2] photocycloaddition of four 4‐(but‐3‐enyl)oxyquinolones (substitution pattern at the terminal alkene carbon atom: CH2, Z‐CHEt, E‐CHEt, CMe2) and two 3‐(but‐3‐enyl)oxyquinolones (substitution pattern: CH2, CMe2) was studied. Upon direct irradiation at λ=300 nm, the respective cyclobutane products were formed in high yields (83–95 %) and for symmetrically substituted substrates with complete diastereoselectivity. Substrates with a Z‐ or E‐substituted terminal double bond showed a stereoconvergent reaction course leading to mixtures of regio‐ and diastereomers with almost identical composition. The mechanistic course of the photocycloaddition was elucidated by transient absorption spectroscopy. A triplet intermediate was detected for the title compounds, which–in contrast to simple alkoxyquinolones such as 3‐butyloxyquinolone and 4‐methoxyquinolone–decayed rapidly (τ≈1 ns) through cyclization to a triplet 1,4‐diradical. The diradical can evolve through two reaction channels, one leading to the photoproduct and the other leading back to the starting material. When the photocycloaddition was performed in the presence of a chiral sensitizer (10 mol %) upon irradiation at λ=366 nm in trifluorotoluene as the solvent, moderate to high enantioselectivities were achieved. The two 3‐(but‐3‐enyl)oxyquinolones gave enantiomeric excesses (ees) of 60 and 64 % at ?25 °C, presumably because a significant racemic background reaction occurred. The 4‐substituted quinolones showed higher enantioselectivities (92–96 % ee at ?25 °C) and, for the terminally Z‐ and E‐substituted substrates, an improved regio‐ and diastereoselectivity.  相似文献

Photoinduced proton transfer systems such as 2‐(2′,4′‐dinitrobenzyl)pyridine derivatives have been developed in an attempt to apply the compounds to variable optical transmission materials. However their fatigue resistance property is a limitation for these applications. New benzylpyridines have been synthesized and tested. 2‐(2′,4′‐Diphenylsulfonybenzyl)pyridine was found to be photochromic in the crystalline state and in ethanolic solution (λmax= 485 nm) upon UV flash photolysis.  相似文献

The efficiency and validity of different chemical substrates for trapping bis(methoxycarbonyl)carbene (=2‐methoxy‐1‐(methoxycarbonyl)‐2‐oxoethylidene; 1 ) is dependent on the conditions of carbene generation. On conventional photolysis of dimethyldiazomalonate (=2‐diazopropanedioic acid dimethyl ester; 2 ) by long‐wave UV light (through a Pyrex filter, λ>290 nm), the most powerful trap for carbene 1 in the series of substrates Me2S, MeOH, cyclohexane, and pyridine is Me2S (with an efficiency ratio of ca. 6 : 4 : 2 : 1, resp.). When short‐wave decomposition of diazomalonate 2 is employed (through a quartz filter, λ>210 nm), more reliable and useful chemical traps for bis(methoxycarbonyl)carbene ( 1 ) are pyridine and cyclohexane, whose adducts with 1 are rather stable under short‐wave‐irradiation conditions. Application of alcohols for the trapping of 1 proves to be preferential when simultaneous monitoring of carbene and oxoketene formation during photolysis is necessary.  相似文献

We report the synthesis and characterization of a three‐dimensional tetraphenylethene‐based octacationic cage that shows host–guest recognition of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (e.g. coronene) in organic media and water‐soluble dyes (e.g. sulforhodamine 101) in aqueous media through CH???π, π–π, and/or electrostatic interactions. The cage?coronene exhibits a cuboid internal cavity with a size of approximately 17.2×11.0×6.96 Å3 and a “hamburger”‐type host–guest complex, which is hierarchically stacked into 1D nanotubes and a 3D supramolecular framework. The free cage possesses a similar cavity in the crystalline state. Furthermore, a host–guest complex formed between the octacationic cage and sulforhodamine 101 had a higher absolute quantum yield (ΦF=28.5 %), larger excitation–emission gap (Δλex‐em=211 nm), and longer emission lifetime (τ=7.0 ns) as compared to the guest (ΦF=10.5 %; Δλex‐em=11 nm; τ=4.9 ns), and purer emission (ΔλFWHM=38 nm) as compared to the host (ΔλFWHM=111 nm).  相似文献

As a novel ultraviolet (UV) absorbent with excellent performance in UVA section (320 ~ 400 nm), 2‐{2‐hydroxy‐4‐[(octyloxycarbonyl)ethylideneoxy]phenyl}‐4,6‐Bis(4‐biphenylyl)‐1,3,5‐triazine (CGL‐479) was synthesized in a simple method with a total yield of 45.3% in four steps. Its outstanding UV absorption capability (λmax = 326 nm, εmax = 4.15 × 104 L?mol?1?cm?1), high thermostability [T5 (the temperature of losing 5% in weight) = 385 °C], and compatibility with polymer materials make it a potential substitute of the traditional UV absorbents.  相似文献

A designed bis(dithienyl) dicyanoethene‐based, strictly E/Z photoswitch (4TCE) operates through state‐selective (E and Z isomer) photoactivation with visible light. The E and Z isomers of 4TCE exhibit remarkably different spectroscopic characteristics, including a large separation (70 nm) in their absorption maxima (λmax) and a 2.5‐fold increase in molar extinction coefficient from cis to trans. The energetically stable trans form can be completely converted to the cis form within minutes when exposed to white light, whereas the reverse isomerization occurs readily upon irradiation by blue light (λ<480 nm) or completely by thermal conversion at elevated temperatures. These features together with excellent thermal stability and photostability of both isomers make this new E/Z photoswitch a promising building block for photoswitchable materials that operate without the need for UV light.  相似文献

Cyclometalated IrIII complexes with acetylide ppy and bpy ligands were prepared (ppy=2‐phenylpyridine, bpy=2,2′‐bipyridine) in which naphthal ( Ir‐2 ) and naphthalimide (NI) were attached onto the ppy ( Ir‐3 ) and bpy ligands ( Ir‐4 ) through acetylide bonds. [Ir(ppy)3] ( Ir‐1 ) was also prepared as a model complex. Room‐temperature phosphorescence was observed for the complexes; both neutral and cationic complexes Ir‐3 and Ir‐4 showed strong absorption in the visible range (ε=39600 M ?1 cm?1 at 402 nm and ε=25100 M ?1 cm?1 at 404 nm, respectively), long‐lived triplet excited states (τT=9.30 μs and 16.45 μs) and room‐temperature red emission (λem=640 nm, Φp=1.4 % and λem=627 nm, Φp=0.3 %; cf. Ir‐1 : ε=16600 M ?1 cm?1 at 382 nm, τem=1.16 μs, Φp=72.6 %). Ir‐3 was strongly phosphorescent in non‐polar solvent (i.e., toluene), but the emission was completely quenched in polar solvents (MeCN). Ir‐4 gave an opposite response to the solvent polarity, that is, stronger phosphorescence in polar solvents than in non‐polar solvents. Emission of Ir‐1 and Ir‐2 was not solvent‐polarity‐dependent. The T1 excited states of Ir‐2 , Ir‐3 , and Ir‐4 were identified as mainly intraligand triplet excited states (3IL) by their small thermally induced Stokes shifts (ΔEs), nanosecond time‐resolved transient difference absorption spectroscopy, and spin‐density analysis. The complexes were used as triplet photosensitizers for triplet‐triplet annihilation (TTA) upconversion and quantum yields of 7.1 % and 14.4 % were observed for Ir‐2 and Ir‐3 , respectively, whereas the upconversion was negligible for Ir‐1 and Ir‐4 . These results will be useful for designing visible‐light‐harvesting transition‐metal complexes and for their applications as triplet photosensitizers for photocatalysis, photovoltaics, TTA upconversion, etc.  相似文献

A series of metal‐free organic dyes with electron‐rich (D) and electron‐deficient units (A) as π linkers have been studied theoretically by means of density functional theory (DFT) and time‐dependent DFT calculations to explore the effects of π spacers on the optical and electronic properties of triphenylamine dyes. The results show that Dye 1 with a structure of D‐A‐A‐A is superior to the typical C218 dye in various key aspects, including the maximum absorption (λmax=511 nm), the charge‐transfer characteristics (Dq/t is 5.49 Å/0.818 e?/4.41 Å), the driving force for charge‐carrier injection (ΔGinject=1.35 eV)/dye regeneration (ΔGregen=0.27 eV), and the lifetime of the first excited state (τ=3.1 ns). It is thus proposed to be a promising candidate in dye‐sensitized solar cell applications.  相似文献

In the photochemical denitrogenation of 1,4‐diaryl‐2,3‐diazabicyclo[2.2.1]heptane ( AZ6 ) bearing sterically hindered substituents, a curious new absorption band at about 450 nm was observed under low‐temperature matrix conditions, together with the previously well‐characterized planar singlet diradical pl‐1 DR6 with λmax=≈580 nm. The 450 nm species was electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR)‐silent. Instead of generating the planar diradical pl‐1 DR6 and the precursor azoalkane AZ6 upon warming, the ring‐closed bicyclo[2.1.0]pentane derivative SB6 , that is, the AZ6 denitrogenation product was identified. Based on product analysis, low‐temperature spectroscopic observations, high‐level quantum‐mechanical computations, viscosity effect, and laser‐flash photolysis, the puckered singlet diradicaloid puc‐1 DR6 was assigned to the new 450 nm absorption. The latter was detected experimentally at the same time as the planar singlet diradical pl‐1 DR6 . Sterically demanding substituents as well as viscosity impediments were essential for the detection of the experimentally hitherto unknown puckered singlet cyclopentane‐1,3‐diyl diradicaloid puc‐1 DR6 , that is, the third isomer in homolysis. The present findings should stimulate future work on the mechanistically fascinating stereoselectivity documented in the formation of bicyclo[2.1.0]pentanes during the 2,3‐diazabicyclo[2.2.1]heptane denitrogenation.  相似文献
