The CD spectra of benzoyl, p-nitrobenzoyl and anisoyl derivatives of adenosine, uridine, 1-methylriboside and 1-D-ribofuranosylbenzimidazole are registrated. The possibility of identification of 2′-, 3′-O-acylribonucleosides and observation of acyl groups isomerisation kinetics is shown. The kinetics of 2′?3′ migration of a number of 2′(3′)-O-derivatives, the dependence of kinetic constants on the pH are studied. The features of acyl derivated ribonucleosides CD spectra are discussed.

Spektrophotometrische Bestimmung der Zusammensetzung und der Stabilitätskonstante des Komplexes von Strontium mit Magon

Sr²⁺ has been found to form with “Magon”[sodium 1-azo-2-hydroxy-3-(2.4-dimethylcarboxanilido)-naphthalene-1′-(2-hydroxybenzene-5-sulphonate)] in 15% ethanol in the pH range 12–13 a stable red complex (λ=495) in the ratio Sr²⁺∶H₂R=1∶2. At optimum pH the absorption maximum is attained in 20 minutes and the complex is stable for 3 hours. The composition of the complex was found by the method of isomolar series. A regression equation has been deduced by the procedure ofKomar ⁶ andTolmatchev ⁷, and the values of the molar extinction coefficient of absorption and stability constant of the complex determined.

Zusammenfassung In der vorliegenden Arbeit wird das Sedimentationsgleichgewicht der Systeme Na₆[H₂W₁₂O₄₀]—NaCI—H₂O und Na₆[H₂W₁₂O₄₀]—NaClO₄— H2O untersucht. Die scheinbare molare Masse Mapp des Natriummetawolframats wird in beiden Systemen als Funktion der Natriummetawolfrarnat-Anfangspartialdichte ₀ ^PX _z gemessen. Durch lineare Extrapolation der Funktion Mapp = Mapp (PP,, ) auf die Polymerelektrolyt-Anfangspartialdichte Null können die Grenzwerte der scheinbaren molaren Masse (Mapp)o ermittelt werden. Aus den (Mapp)o-Werten wird die Abhängigkeit der Größe (ln _PXz /m _BX ) _mPXz von der NaCI- bzw. NaClO₄-Molalität berechnet.Die Bestimmung der molaren Masse und der (stöchiometrischen) Ladungszahl eines Polymerelektrolyten aus den experimentell ermittelten (Mapp)o-Werten unter Anwendung der Lamm-Williams-Gleichung wird diskutiert. Zur Ermittlung der beiden Größen müssen mehrere Versuchsreihen mit zwei verschiedenen Fremdelektrolyten durchgeführt werden. Externe Messungen sind nicht erforderlich.Man erhält auf diese Weise verläßliche Werte so-wohl der molaren Masse als auch der (stächiometrischen) Ladungszahl.

Summary The sedimentation equilibria of the systems sodium metatungstate-sodium chloride-water and sodium metatungstate-sodium perchlorate-water are investiated. In both systems the apparent molecular mass Mapp of sodium metatungstate (PX _z) is measured in dependence on partial density ₀ ^PX _z before centrifugation. By linear extrapolation of the function Mapp = Mapp ( ₀ ^PX _z the limiting value (Mapp)o for ₀ ^PX _z = 0 is obtained. The variation with sodium chloride and sodium perchlorate molality of the quantity (ln _{PX z} ^m _BX )mPX_z is calculated from (Mapp)o data.The determination of the molecular mass and the algebraic valency of a polymeric ion by means of the (Mapp)o values calculated by Lamm-Williams equation is discussed. In order to obtain these two quantities at least two series of experiments are required, each of which using a different supporting electrolyte. External measurements are not necessary. In this way reliable values for the molecular mass as well as for the stoichiometric valency are obtained.

Untersuchung von Szilard-Chalmers-Reaktionen mit hilfe der Dünnschichtchromatographie

After irradiation with neutrons, bariumkryptate nitrate was separated from barium nitrate by thin layer chromatography. The¹³⁹Ba activities in the two fractions were measured. After decay, the relative amounts of stable barium were determined by neutron activation analysis. A formula was derived for the calculation of the enrichment factor directly from the four counting rates. The two components mentioned above, one or the other with¹³¹Ba as tracer, were brought into contact with each other for a moment and then separated by chromatography. The exchange rates indicated that the enrichment had been cancelled to a large degree by isotopic exchange. The procedures, recommended as a test for Szilard-Chalmers targets, were checked out with cobalt(III) acetylacetonate.     

Photometrische Bestimmung von Fluoriden mit Hilfe der Komplexverbindung des Thoriums mit Xylenolorange

Zusammenfassung Es wird eine photometrische Methode der Fluoridbestimmung beschrieben, die auf der Verwendung des Thoriumkomplexes von Xylenolorange beruht. Die Methode ist auch bei Verwendung von gewöhnlichen Filterphotometern ausreichend empfindlich, so da\ sie als Betriebsmethode verwendet werden kann. 0–200 g F in 50 ml Volumen können mit maximalen Fehlern von etwa ±16% bestimmt werden. Praktisch wurde die Methode für die Fluorbestimmung in Abgasen der Düngemittelindustrie verwendet.     

Eine thermometrisch-kinetische methode zur bestimmung von kupfer und cyanid mit hilfe der kupfer-katalysierten zersetzung von wasserstoffperoxid

The copper-catalyzed decomposition of hydrogen peroxide is retarded by cyanide. The oxidation of cyanide by hydrogen peroxide is likewise catalyzed by copper ions. The decomposition reaction of H₂O₂; can be followed thermometrically. Therefore, at a known copper concentration an unknown amount of cyanide can be determined from the retardation time; and an unknown amount of copper can be determined by adding a known amount of cyanide. Moreover, after the end of the retardation time, unknown copper concentrations can also be determined from the slope of the temperature curve (tana). Copper was determined in the range 4–40 μg, and cyanide in the ranges 3–30, 6–60 and 8–80 μg.
