The angles a fourth-harmonic holographic interferometer probing beam is refracted upon passing through a neodymium laser-produced plasma have been measured by varying the focus during reconstruction of the hologram. A method (not requiring the numerical inversion of an integral equation) for using such refraction measurements to give the plasma electron density profile is shown to produce a profile in agreement with that obtained from the phase information on the reconstructed in-focus interferogram.  相似文献

We investigate the effect of detector distance and beam width in acousto-optic beam deflection probing in air. The study investigates pure refraction regime (beam width? acoustic wavelength). We find that in this regime the increase in beam width can significantly increase the detected signal up to 8 folds higher than previous detection geometries—while the detector distance has a less noticeable effect. Theoretical results are assessed through an experiment with a commercially available ultrasonic transducer. This investigation provides detailed theoretical approaches and quantitative experimental characterization that can be used for numerous applications requiring beam deflection probing in air.  相似文献

The spatio-temporal gasdynamic structures of plasma formations produced in a hypersonic air flow by a focused high-power laser beam are analyzed numerically using the model of inviscid non-heat-conducting equilibrium radiating air. The reasons for the emergence of pulsating gasdynamic nonuniformity in the region between the bow shock wave and the intense laser radiation absorption zone are investigated.  相似文献

分析了弹丸在飞越激光光幕靶时弹丸激波对激光传播的影响。针对难于实际测量由激波形成的空气折射率分布问题,应用弹丸超音速绕流场的数值计算结果和折射定律,借助SolidWorks软件分析了激波内折射率为常数的情况下光线穿过激波时的折射和出射轨迹,并用模拟实验验证了其正确性。讨论了激波对激光光幕靶测量的影响,为光幕靶的设计与应用提供了依据。  相似文献

在理论上分析了受激布里渊散射相位共轭效应和阈值效应对后向受激布里渊散射光束发散角的影响。在实验上,用受激布里渊散射相位共轭镜(SBS PCM)代替普通反射镜构成Nd:YAG激光器的偏振抽取腔,补偿了激活介质和光学元件造成的波前畸变,压缩了发散角,改善了光束质量。研究了抽运能量、透镜焦距等因素对受激布里渊散射偏振抽取腔输出光光束质量的影响。  相似文献

It is found that when a light beam travels through a slab of optically denser dielectric medium in air, the lateral shift of the transmitted beam can be negative. This is a novel phenomenon that is reversed in comparison with the geometrical optic prediction according to Snell's law of refraction. A Gaussian-shaped beam is analyzed in the paraxial approximation, and a comparison with numerical simulations is made. Finally, an explanation for the negativity of the lateral shift is suggested, in terms of the interaction of boundary effects of the slab's two interfaces with air.  相似文献

We use multimillion-atom molecular dynamics simulations to study shock wave propagation in fcc crystals. As shown recently, shock waves along the <100> direction form intersecting stacking faults by slippage along 111 close-packed planes at sufficiently high shock strengths. We find even more interesting behavior of shocks propagating in other low-index directions: for the <111> case, an elastic precursor separates the shock front from the slipped (plastic) region. Shock waves along the <110> direction generate a leading solitary wave train, followed (at sufficiently high shock speeds) by an elastic precursor, and then a region of complex plastic deformation.  相似文献

It was theoretically predicted that when a beam of light travels through a thin slab of optically denser medium in the air, the emerging beam from the slab will suffer a lateral displacement that is different from the prediction of geometrical optics, that is, the Snell’s law of refraction and can be zero and negative as well as positive. These phenomena have been directly observed in microwave experiments in which large angles of incidence are chosen for the purpose of obtaining negative lateral displacements.  相似文献

A light beam changes direction as it enters a liquid at an angle from another medium, such as air. Should the liquid contain molecules that lack mirror symmetry, then it has been predicted by Fresnel that the light beam will not only change direction, but will actually split into two separate beams with a small difference in the respective angles of refraction. Here we report the observation of this phenomenon. We also demonstrate that the angle of reflection does not equal the angle of incidence in a chiral medium. Unlike conventional optical rotation, which depends on the path-length through the sample, the reported reflection and refraction phenomena arise within a few wavelengths at the interface and thereby suggest a new approach to polarimetry that can be used in microfluidic volumes.  相似文献

Average and fluctuation parameters of a shock wave that arises in a supersonic air flow around bodies are studied based on numerical simulation using FLUENT 6.0 models of computational fluid dynamics. A series of closed numerical experiments show that distributions of the structural characteristic of the refractive index and average air density in the region of shock wave localization can be reconstructed from measurements of parameters of the laser beam intersecting the flow.  相似文献

The probe volume of the dual beam laser Doppler velocimeter is analyzed from a geometrical standpoint. The volume is graphically reconstructed and the existence of the characteristic dual beam laser Doppler velocimeter fringes is demonstrated. The fringes are analyzed and are shown to be composed of moving tubes or pockets of coherent radiation. The composition of the light is analyzed and the extent of the coherence of the laser radiation within the light pockets is considered. The scattered light from the tubes is analyzed and the coherence enhancement of the fringe structure is shown. This information is used in an attempt to resolve the controversy as to whether the dual beam laser Doppler velocimeter is governed by a fringe counting phenomena or by a beating phenomena of light from two sources of coherent radiation of different frequencies.  相似文献

A two dimensional (2‐D) stream of granular flow with zero initial granular temperature passing over a cylindrical obstacle is simulated by means of both molecular dynamics (MD) simulation and finite volume method (FVM). In experiments, a bow‐shaped shock wave with higher area fraction forms in front of the obstacle that was reproduced in our simulations. Due to the different circumstances to which particles are subjected, the granular flow is divided in two zones. One is undisturbed where quantities, such as space fraction (volume fraction for 3‐D and area fraction for 2‐D geometries), velocity and granular temperature are uniformly distributed and the other is called the shock wave zone. In this region, the values of the space fraction increases and the velocity of particles changes. From the MD simulation, it is found that the area fraction of the shock wave depends on surface roughness, coefficient of restitution (COR) of particles, the obstacle diameter as well as velocity of the granular stream, and a triangular region forms with almost zero velocity, and granular temperature forms in front of the cylindrical obstacle. The bigger is the size of the obstacle, the more stable this region is. In FVM simulations solid phase velocity and area fraction distributions similar to the MD simulation results are obtained for proper parameters.  相似文献

The refraction of a localized narrow beam is significantly different from that of a plane wave. As the beam width decreases to be in the order of the wavelength, the refraction behavior deviates noticeably from Snel's law, and when the width of a light beam is smaller than about one fifth of the wavelength of the incident light, finite-difference time-domain simulations demonstrate that refraction becomes negligible. That is, the narrow light beam retains its propagation direction even after entering another medium at an oblique angle. The result reveals novel features of nano-beams and may have applications in precise biomedical measurement or micro optical device.  相似文献

考虑到位于两物质界面上的Metasurface对光线传播行为的影响, 从费马原理和边界条件连续两种角度出发, 推导了可用于相位突变界面的广义反射与折射定律. 该定律在界面对光波的相位改变量为零的情况下, 回归为通常的反射定律和折射定律. 利用广义的折射定律和反射定律讨论了介质折射率、界面上的相位梯度等因素对光传播行为的影响, 发现利用广义的折射定律和反射定律很容易实现反常反射和反常折射行为, 并给出了出现反常反射和反常折射的条件, 以此为基础可以实现对光波的随意控制. 依据广义的折射定律和反射定律分析了一维相位掩模板对光场传播行为的影响. 关键词: 超材料 相位突变界面 反射定律 折射定律  相似文献

利用同位旋相关的量子分子动力学研究和寻找提取中能重离子碰撞多重碎裂中同位旋相关核子–核子碰撞截面的可能观测量.计算结果表明,在多重碎裂过程中中等质量碎片多重性与带电粒子总数之间的关联是在所选能区提取介质中同位旋相关核子–核子碰撞截面的灵敏观察量.应用重质量弹核打轻质量靶核具有反应产物向前角发射这一逆反应效应,可以在有限探测器条件下与实验相结合提取介质中同位旋相关的核子–核子碰撞截面.  相似文献

The refractive index of a glass sample was determined from an implicit function of its optical path within the sample arm of a Michelson interferometer.On rotation of the sample from normal incidence, the light beam suffers increasing refraction, causing the optical path for air to decrease whilst that for the glass sample increases. This is observed as a shift in the number of fringes, which were captured and counted in real time on a computer, as rotation proceeded. The angle of rotation and the fringe shift were entered into an implicit function of optical path versus refractive index written to an Excel worksheet. A refractive index matching the wavelength of the He-Ne laser light source was read-off to three decimal places. A new source of uncertainty has been identified, misalignment on a micrometer scale of the laser normal to the sample surface. Whilst driving the sample to find normal incidence a finite angular region of insensitivity (dead space) occurs due to misalignment of the laser normal to the sample surface by a few micrometers. A linearization technique was employed to compensate for this offset and hence reduce its uncertainty contribution.  相似文献

Ultra high-velocity collisionless shocks are generated using an ultra-intense laser interacting with foil-gas target,which consists of copper foil and helium gas.The energy of helium ions accelerated by shock and the proton probing image of the shock electrostatic field show that the shock velocity is 0.02c,where c is the light speed.The numerical and theory studies indicate that the collisionless shock velocity exceeding 0.1 c can be generated by a laser pulse with picosecond duration and an intensity of 10~(20) W/cm~2.This system may be relevant to the study of mildly relativistic velocity collisionless shocks in astrophysics.  相似文献

Nonlinear evolutions of electrostatic shocks excited by a velocity-modulated ion beam along a magnetized plasma column are investigated by computer simulation for a Q-machine experiment. In the case of a beam velocity modulation, the perturbations grow spatially with subsequent saturation due to an ion bunching of the beam. With an increase in modulation ratio an electrostatic shock is formed, accompanied with a steepening of the propagating front. In the case of a beam density-modulation, however, the initial density jump decays simply. The velocity modulation method is quite effective for an excitation of electrostatic shocks in the Q-machine plasma with finite Landau damping. The simulation results using velocity modulation are consistent with the experimental results.  相似文献

We report on the first experimental evidence of negative refraction at telecommunication wavelengths by a two-dimensional photonic crystal field. Samples were fabricated by chemically assisted ion beam etching in the InP-based low-index constrast system. Experiments of beam imaging and light collection show light focusing by the photonic crystal field. Finite-difference time-domain simulations confirm that the observed focusing is due to negative refraction in the photonic crystal area.  相似文献

用数值方法研究铁-铍介质界面上的激波折射现象.运用激波极曲线理论分析不同强度的激波从正规折射过渡到非正规折射的临界角变化.运用一个具有二阶精度和波传播性质的激波捕捉法,数值求解激波折射运动的流体力学方程组.对正规折射,数值结果与激波极曲线理论一致;对非正规折射,不同强度的激波大都存在前驱的折射激波,并且入射激波的强度不同、入射角度不同,激波折射的图像也不同.  相似文献
