The luminescent tungsten–alkylidyne metalloligand [WCl(≡C‐4,4′‐C6H4CC‐py)(dppe)2] ( 1 ; dppe=1,2‐bis(diphenylphosphino)ethane) and the zinc–tetraarylporphyrins ZnTPP and ZnTPClP (TPP=tetraphenylporphyrin, TPClP=tetra(p‐chlorophenyl)porphyrin) self‐assemble in fluorobenzene solution to form the dyads ZnTPP( 1 ) and ZnTPClP( 1 ), in which the metalloligand is axially coordinated to the porphyrin. Excitation of the porphyrin‐centered S1 excited states of these dyads initiates intramolecular energy‐transfer (ZnPor→ 1 ) and electron‐transfer ( 1 →ZnPor) processes, which together efficiently quench the S1 state (~90 %). Transient‐absorption spectroscopy and an associated kinetic analysis reveal that the net product of the energy‐transfer process is the 3[dπ*] state of coordinated 1 , which is formed by S11[dπ*] singlet–singlet (Förster) energy transfer followed by 1[dπ*]→3[dπ*] intersystem crossing. The data also demonstrate that coordinated 1 reductively quenches the porphyrin S1 state to produce the [ZnPor?][ 1+ ] charge‐separated state. This is a rare example of the reductive quenching of zinc porphyrin chromophores. The presence in the [ZnPor?][ 1+ ] charge‐separated states of powerfully reducing zinc–porphyrin radical anions, which are capable of sensitizing a wide range of reductive electrocatalysts, and the 1+ ion, which can initiate the oxidation of H2, produces an integrated photochemical system with the thermodynamic capability of driving photoredox processes that result in the transfer of renewable reducing equivalents instead of the consumption of conventional sacrificial donors.  相似文献

New C60 and C70 fullerene dyads formed with 4‐amino‐1,8‐naphthalimide chromophores have been prepared by the Bingel cyclopropanation reaction. The resulting monoadducts were investigated with respect to their fluorescence properties (quantum yields and lifetimes) to unravel the role of the charge‐transfer naphthalimide chromophore as a light‐absorbing antenna and excited‐singlet‐state sensitizer of fullerenes. The underlying intramolecular singlet–singlet energy transfer (EnT) process was fully characterized and found to proceed quantitatively (ΦEnT≈1) for all dyads. Thus, these conjugates are of considerable interest for applications in which fullerene excited states have to be created and photonic energy loss should be minimized. In polar solvents (tetrahydrofuran and benzonitrile), fluorescence quenching of the fullerene by electron transfer from the ground‐state aminonaphthalimide was postulated as an additional path.  相似文献

A tetrathiafulvalene (TTF) donor is annulated to porphyrins (P) via quinoxaline linkers to form novel symmetric P–TTF–P triads 1 a – c and asymmetric P–TTF dyads 2 a , b in good yields. These planar and extended π‐conjugated molecules absorb light over a wide region of the UV/Vis spectrum as a result of additional charge‐transfer excitations within the donor–acceptor assemblies. Quantum‐chemical calculations elucidate the nature of the electronically excited states. The compounds are electrochemically amphoteric and primarily exhibit low oxidation potentials. Cyclic voltammetric and spectroelectrochemical studies allow differentiation between the TTF and porphyrin sites with respect to the multiple redox processes occurring within these molecular assemblies. Transient absorption measurements give insight into the excited‐state events and deliver corresponding kinetic data. Femtosecond transient absorption spectra in benzonitrile may suggest the occurrence of fast charge separation from TTF to porphyrin in dyads 2 a , b but not in triads 1 a – c . Clear evidence for a photoinduced and relatively long lived charge‐separated state (385 ps lifetime) is obtained for a supramolecular coordination compound built from the ZnP–TTF dyad and a pyridine‐functionalized C60 acceptor unit. This specific excited state results in a (ZnP–TTF)?+ ??? (C60py)?? state. The binding constant of ZnII ??? py is evaluated by constructing a Benesi–Hildebrand plot based on fluorescence data. This plot yields a binding constant K of 7.20×104 M ?1, which is remarkably high for bonding of pyridine to ZnP.  相似文献

The two molecular triads 1a and 1b consisting of a porphyrin (P) covalently linked to a fullerene (C60) electron acceptor and tetrathiafulvalene (TTF) electron‐donor moiety were synthesized, and their photochemical properties were determined by transient absorption and emission techniques. Excitation of the free‐base‐porphyrin moiety of the TTF−P2 H−C60 triad 1a in tetrahydro‐2‐methylfuran solution yields the porphyrin first excited singlet state TTF−1P2 H−C60, which undergoes photoinduced electron transfer with a time constant of 25 ps to give TTF−P2 H.+−C60.−. This intermediate charge‐separated state has a lifetime of 230 ps, decaying mainly by a charge‐shift reaction to yield a final state, TTF.+−P2 H−C60.−. The final state has a lifetime of 660 ns, is formed with an overall yield of 92%, and preserves ca. 1.0 eV of the 1.9 eV inherent in the porphyrin excited state. Similar behavior is observed for the zinc analog 1b . The TTF‐PZn.+−C60.− state is formed by ultrafast electron transfer from the porphyrinatozinc excited singlet state with a time constant of 1.5 ps. The final TTF.+−PZn−C60.− state is generated with a yield of 16%, and also has a lifetime of 660 ns. Although charge recombination to yield a triplet has been observed in related donor‐acceptor systems, the TTF.+−P−C60.− states recombine to the ground state, because the molecule lacks low‐energy triplet states. This structural feature leads to a longer lifetime for the final charge‐separated state, during which the stored energy could be harvested for solar‐energy conversion or molecular optoelectronic applications.  相似文献

2‐Ureido‐4(1H)‐pyrimidinone‐bridged ferrocene–fullerene assembly I is designed and synthesized for elaborating the photoinduced electron‐transfer processes in self‐complementary quadruply hydrogen‐bonded modules. Unexpectedly, steady‐state and time‐resolved spectroscopy reveal an inefficient electron‐transfer process from the ferrocene to the singlet or triplet excited state of the fullerene, although the electron‐transfer reactions are thermodynamically feasible. Instead, an effective intra‐assembly triplet–triplet energy‐transfer process is found to be operative in assembly I with a rate constant of 9.2×105 s?1 and an efficiency of 73 % in CH2Cl2 at room temperature.  相似文献

Efficient photoinduced electron transfer was observed across a [10]cycloparaphenylene ([10]CPP) moiety that serves as a rigid non‐covalent bridge between a zinc porphyrin and a range of fullerenes. The preparation of iodo‐[10]CPP is the key to the synthesis of a porphyrin–[10]CPP conjugate, which binds C60, C70, (C60)2, and other fullerenes (KA>105 m ?1). Fluorescence and pump–probe spectroscopy revealed intramolecular energy transfer between CPP and porphyrin and also efficient charge separation between porphyrin and fullerenes, affording up to 0.5 μs lifetime charge‐separated states. The advantage of this approach towards electron donor–acceptor dyads is evident in the case of dumbbell‐shaped (C60)2, which gave intricate charge‐transfer behavior in 1:1 and 2:1 complexes. These results suggest that [10]CPP and its cross‐coupled derivatives could act as supramolecular mediators of charge transport in organic electronic devices.  相似文献

Emission quenching of [Ru(bpy)2(4, 4'-dcbpy)] (PF6)2 (1) by benzenamine,4-[2-[5-[4-[4-dimethylamino]phenyl]-4,5-di-hydro-1-phenyl-1H-pyrazol-3-yl]-ethenyl]-N,N-dimetyl (2) or 1, 5-diphenyl-3-(2-phenothiazine)-2-pyrazoline (3) was observed. Measurements of the emission decay of 1 before and after addition of 2 or 3 by single photon counting technique con-finned the observations. The emission quenching of 1 by 2 or 3 was submitted to Stern-Volmer equation. It was calculated that the quenching rate constants (kq) are 5.5 × 109(mol/L)-1s-1 for 2 and 4.0 × 109(mol/L)-1s-1 for 3, respectively. These results indicated a character of dynamic quenching process. The singlet-state of 2 or 3 was also quenched by 1. The quenching behaviors did not conform to the Stern- Volmer equation and involved both static and dynamic quenching processes. The apparent quenching rate constant (kapp) was calculated to be 3 × 109 (mol/L)-1 for the interaction of excited 2 with 1, and 1.2 × 109 (mol/L)-1 for that of excited 3 wit  相似文献

The systematic synthesis and photophysical, electrochemical and computational studies on an extended series of triphenylamine‐[C?C‐1,4‐C6H2(OR)2]n‐C?C‐diphenyl‐1,3,4‐oxadiazole dyad molecules (the OR groups are at 2,5‐positions of the para‐phenylene ring and R=C6H13; n=0–5, compounds 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 and 5 , respectively) are reported. Related molecules with identical end groups, triphenylamine‐C?C‐1,4‐C6H2(OR)2‐C?C‐triphenylamine (R=C6H13; 6 ) and diphenyl‐1,3,4‐oxadiazole‐[C?C‐C6H2(OR)2]2‐C?C‐diphenyl‐1,3,4‐oxadiazole (R=C6H13; 7 ) were also studied. These D–B–A 1 – 5 , D–B–D 6 and A–B–A 7 (D=electron donor, B=bridge, A=electron acceptor) systems were synthesized using palladium‐catalysed cross‐coupling reactions of new p‐phenyleneethynylene building blocks. Steady‐state emission studies on the dyads 1 – 5 reveal a complicated behavior of the emission that is strongly medium dependent. In low polarity solvents the emission is characterized by a sharp high‐energy peak attributed to fluorescence from a locally excited (LE) state. In more polar environments the LE state is effectively quenched by transfer into an intramolecular charge‐transfer (ICT) state. The medium dependence is also observed in the quantum yields (QYs) which are high in cyclohexane and low in acetonitrile, thus also indicating charge‐transfer character. Low‐temperature emission spectra for 2 – 5 in dichloromethane and diethyl ether also reveal two distinct excited states, namely the LE state and the conventional ICT state, depending on solvent and temperature. Hybrid DFT calculations for 1 – 7 establish that the OPE bridge is involved in both frontier orbitals where the bridge character increases as the bridge length increases. Computed TD‐DFT data on 1 – 5 assign the emission maxima in cyclohexane as LE transitions. Each time‐resolved emission measurement on 2 – 7 in cyclohexane and diethyl ether reveals a wavelength dependent bi‐exponential decay of the emission with a fast component in the 5–61 ps range on blue detection and a slower approximately 1 ns phase, independent of detection wavelength. The fast component is attributed to LE fluorescence and this emission component is rate limited and quenched by transfer into an ICT state. The fast LE fluorescence component varies systematically with conjugation length for the series of D–B–A dyads 2 – 5 . An attenuation factor β of 0.15 Å?1 was determined in accordance with an ICT superexchange mechanism.  相似文献

High oxidation potential perfluorinated zinc phthalocyanines (ZnFnPcs) are synthesised and their spectroscopic, redox, and light‐induced electron‐transfer properties investigated systematically by forming donor–acceptor dyads through metal–ligand axial coordination of fullerene (C60) derivatives. Absorption and fluorescence spectral studies reveal efficient binding of the pyridine‐ (Py) and phenylimidazole‐functionalised fullerene (C60Im) derivatives to the zinc centre of the FnPcs. The determined binding constants, K, in o‐dichlorobenzene for the 1:1 complexes are in the order of 104 to 105 M ?1; nearly an order of magnitude higher than that observed for the dyad formed from zinc phthalocyanine (ZnPc) lacking fluorine substituents. The geometry and electronic structure of the dyads are determined by using the B3LYP/6‐31G* method. The HOMO and LUMO levels are located on the Pc and C60 entities, respectively; this suggests the formation of ZnFnPc.+–C60Im.? and ZnFnPc.+–C60Py.? (n=0, 8 or 16) intra‐supramolecular charge‐separated states during electron transfer. Electrochemical studies on the ZnPc–C60 dyads enable accurate determination of their oxidation and reduction potentials and the energy of the charge‐separated states. The energy of the charge‐separated state for dyads composed of ZnFnPc is higher than that of normal ZnPc–C60 dyads and reveals their significance in harvesting higher amounts of light energy. Evidence for charge separation in the dyads is secured from femtosecond transient absorption studies in nonpolar toluene. Kinetic evaluation of the cation and anion radical ion peaks reveals ultrafast charge separation and charge recombination in dyads composed of perfluorinated phthalocyanine and fullerene; this implies their significance in solar‐energy harvesting and optoelectronic device building applications.  相似文献

Novel porphyrin-fullerene systems linked by ferrocene and related model compounds were successfully synthesized and characterized. Conformationally flexible 1,1′-disubstituted ferrocene functioned as effective modulator of the conformation between porphyrin and fullerene, as 1H NMR spectra indicated, the porphyrin and C60 moieties in the triads showed gauche type conformation. The electrochemical and photophysical studies showed that there were considerable interactions between porphyrin and fullerene in the ground state due to intramolecular π-stacking of the these two chromophores, assisted by the ferrocence linker. Fluorescence lifetime measurements indicated there might be two different quenching processes occurring simultaneously (intersystem crossing and electron transfer).  相似文献

A synthetic procedure based on the 1,3‐dipolar cycloaddition reactions of nitrile oxides and ethynylferrocene derived from ferrocene has been developed to synthesize new ferrocenyl‐isoxazole derivatives. The stable solids were thoroughly characterized by 1H NMR, FT‐IR, and mass spectroscopy. The structure of (η5‐C5H5) Fe (η5‐C5H4) C3HNOC6H4CH3 was determined by single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction. The electrochemical behaviors of the synthesized ferrocenyl‐isoxazole derivatives were also studied. Copyright © 2005 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Excitation of the peripheral Zn porphyrin units in a noncovalent five‐porphyrin array, formed by gable‐like zinc(II) bisporphyrins and a central free‐base meso‐tetrakis(4‐pyridyl)porphyrin in a 2:1 ratio, ( ZnP2 )2? ( TPyP ), does not lead to a quantitative sensitization of the luminescence of the free‐base porphyrin acceptor, even though there is an effective energy transfer. Time resolution of the luminescence evidences a quenching of TPyP upon sensitization by the peripheral ZnP2 . The time evolution of the TPyP fluorescence in the complex can be described by a bi‐exponential fitting with a major component of 180 ps and a minor one of 5 ns, compared to an isolated TPyP lifetime of 9.4 ns. The two quenched lifetimes are shown to be correlated to the presence of 2:1 and 1:1 complexes, respectively. No quenching of TPyP fluorescence occurs in ( ZnP2 )2?( TPyP ) at 77 K in a rigid solvent for which only an energy‐transfer process (τ=150±10 ps) from peripheral ZnP2 to the central TPyP is observed. An unusual HOMO–HOMO electron‐transfer reaction from ZnP2 to the excited TPyP units, responsible for the observed phenomena, is detected. The resulting charge‐separated state, ( ZnP2 )+2?( TPyP )? is found to recombine to the ground state with a lifetime of 11 ns.  相似文献

A novel photosynthetic‐antenna–reaction‐center model compound, comprised of BF2‐chelated dipyrromethene (BODIPY) as an energy‐harvesting antenna, zinc porphyrin (ZnP) as the primary electron donor, ferrocene (Fc) as a hole‐shifting agent, and phenylimidazole‐functionalized fulleropyrrolidine (C60Im) as an electron acceptor, has been synthesized and characterized. Optical absorption and emission, computational structure optimization, and cyclic voltammetry studies were systematically performed to establish the role of each entity in the multistep photochemical reactions. The energy‐level diagram established from optical and redox data helped identifying different photochemical events. Selective excitation of BODIPY resulted in efficient singlet energy transfer to the ZnP entity. Ultrafast electron transfer from the 1ZnP* (formed either as a result of singlet–singlet energy transfer or direct excitation) or 1C60* of the coordinated fullerene resulting into the formation of the Fc–(C60 . ?Im:ZnP . +)–BODIPY radical ion pair was witnessed by femtosecond transient absorption studies. Subsequent hole migration to the ferrocene entity resulted in the Fc+–(C60 . +Im:ZnP)–BODIPY radical ion pair that persisted for 7–15 μs, depending upon the solvent conditions and contributions from the triplet excited states of ZnP and ImC60, as revealed by the nanosecond transient spectral studies. Better utilization of light energy in generating the long‐lived charge‐separated state with the help of the present “antenna–reaction‐center” model system has been successfully demonstrated.  相似文献

The first example of ferrocene analogues with two transition‐metal metallole ligands of the general formula (η5‐C4R4M)2Fe in a sandwich structure are reported. Specifically, dinickelaferrocene 2 , a type of dimetallametallocene, is efficiently synthesized from the reaction of dilithionickelole 1 with FeBr2 or FeCl2, presumably via a redox process, and is subjected to detailed experimental (single‐crystal X‐ray structural analysis, ICP‐OES, magnetometry, 57Fe Mössbauer, XPS) and theoretical (MOs, CDA, NICS, ICSS, and AICD) characterizations. Unlike ferrocene and its Cp ligands, the aromaticity of dinickelaferrocene and its nickelole ligands is accomplished by electron back‐donation from the Fe 3d orbitals to the π* orbitals of nickelole. Taken together, this work describes a new class of metallaferrocene sandwich complexes and provides a novel approach to effect aromaticity that will contribute to further development of metallocene chemistry.  相似文献

The preparation of novel highly water‐soluble electrostatic complexes from C60‐anchored multi‐armed poly(acrylic acid)s and cationic porphyrin derivatives was demonstrated. The UV‐vis absorption and photoluminescence (PL) of these complexes show that the absorption of soret band exhibits a remarkable red shift and the emission of the Q band indicates an apparent quenching effect in comparison with that of the parent cationic porphyrin. These results imply a remarkable ground state and excited state interaction between the porphyrin ring and the C60 moiety.

New multi‐modular donor–acceptor conjugates featuring zinc porphyrin (ZnP), catechol‐chelated boron dipyrrin (BDP), triphenylamine (TPA) and fullerene (C60), or naphthalenediimide (NDI) have been newly designed and synthesized as photosynthetic antenna and reaction‐center mimics. The X‐ray structure of triphenylamine‐BDP is also reported. The wide‐band capturing polyad revealed ultrafast energy‐transfer (kENT=1.0×1012 s?1) from the singlet excited BDP to the covalently linked ZnP owing to close proximity and favorable orientation of the entities. Introducing either fullerene or naphthalenediimide electron acceptors to the TPA‐BDP‐ZnP triad through metal–ligand axial coordination resulted in electron donor–acceptor polyads whose structures were revealed by spectroscopic, electrochemical and computational studies. Excitation of the electron donor, zinc porphyrin resulted in rapid electron‐transfer to coordinated fullerene or naphthalenediimide yielding charge separated ion‐pair species. The measured electron transfer rate constants from femtosecond transient spectral technique in non‐polar toluene were in the range of 5.0×109–3.5×1010 s?1. Stabilization of the charge‐separated state in these multi‐modular donor–acceptor polyads is also observed to certain level.  相似文献

A multimodular donor–acceptor tetrad featuring a bis(zinc porphyrin)–(zinc phthalocyanine) ((ZnP–ZnP)–ZnPc) triad and bis‐pyridine‐functionalized fullerene was assembled by a “two‐point” binding strategy, and investigated as a charge‐separating photosynthetic antenna‐reaction center mimic. The spectral and computational studies suggested that the mode of binding of the bis‐pyridine‐functionalized fullerene involves either one of the zinc porphyrin and zinc phthalocyanine (Pc) entities of the triad or both zinc porphyrin entities leaving ZnPc unbound. The binding constant evaluated by constructing a Benesi–Hildebrand plot by using the optical data was found to be 1.17×105 M ?1, whereas a plot of “mole‐ratio” method revealed a 1:1 stoichiometry for the supramolecular tetrad. The mode of binding was further supported by differential pulse voltammetry studies, in which redox modulation of both zinc porphyrin and zinc phthalocyanine entities was observed. The geometry of the tetrad was deduced by B3LYP/6‐31G* optimization, whereas the energy levels for different photochemical events was established by using data from the optical absorption and emission, and electrochemical studies. Excitation of the zinc porphyrin entity of the triad and tetrad revealed ultrafast singlet–singlet energy transfer to the appended zinc phthalocyanine. The estimated rate of energy transfer (kENT) in the case of the triad was found to be 7.5×1011 s?1 in toluene and 6.3×1011 s?1 in o‐dichlorobenzene, respectively. As was predicted from the energy levels, photoinduced electron transfer from the energy‐transfer product, that is, singlet‐excited zinc phthalocyanine to fullerene was verified from the femtosecond‐transient spectral studies, both in o‐dichlorobenzene and toluene. Transient bands corresponding to ZnPc ? + in the 850 nm range and C60 ? ? in the 1020 nm range were clearly observed. The rate of charge separation, kCS, and rate of charge recombination, kCR, for the (ZnP–ZnP)–ZnPc ? +:Py2C60 ? ? radical ion pair (from the time profile of 849 nm peak) were found to be 2.20×1011 and 6.10×108 s?1 in toluene, and 6.82×1011 and 1.20×109 s?1 in o‐dichlorobenzene, respectively. These results revealed efficient energy transfer followed by charge separation in the newly assembled supramolecular tetrad.  相似文献

The photophysical properties of two energy‐transfer dyads that are potential candidates for near‐infrared (NIR) imaging probes are investigated as a function of solvent polarity. The dyads ( FbC‐FbB and ZnC‐FbB ) contain either a free base (Fb) or zinc (Zn) chlorin (C) as the energy donor and a free base bacteriochlorin (B) as the energy acceptor. The dyads were studied in toluene, chlorobenzene, 1,2‐dichlorobenzene, acetone, acetonitrile and dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO). In both dyads, energy transfer from the chlorin to bacteriochlorin occurs with a rate constant of ~(5–10 ps)?1 and a yield of >99% in nonpolar and polar media. In toluene, the fluorescence yields (Φ f = 0.19) and singlet excited‐state lifetimes (τ~5.5 ns) are comparable to those of the benchmark bacteriochlorin. The fluorescence yield and excited‐state lifetime decrease as the solvent polarity increases, with quenching by intramolecular electron (or hole) transfer being greater for FbC‐FbB than for ZnC‐FbB in a given solvent. For example, the Φ f and τ values for FbC‐FbB in acetone are 0.055 and 1.5 ns and in DMSO are 0.019 and 0.28 ns, whereas those for ZnC‐FbB in acetone are 0.12 and 4.5 ns and in DMSO are 0.072 and 2.4 ns. The difference in fluorescence properties of the two dyads in a given polar solvent is due to the relative energies of the lowest energy charge‐transfer states, as assessed by ground‐state redox potentials and supported by molecular‐orbital energies derived from density functional theory calculations. Controlling the extent of excited‐state quenching in polar media will allow the favorable photophysical properties of the chlorin–bacteriochlorin dyads to be exploited in vivo. These properties include very large Stokes shifts (85 nm for FbC‐FbB , 110 nm for ZnC‐FbB ) between the red‐region absorption of the chlorin and the NIR fluorescence of the bacteriochlorin (λ f = 760 nm), long bacteriochlorin excited‐state lifetime (~5.5 ns), and narrow (≤20 nm) absorption and fluorescence bands. The latter will facilitate selective excitation/detection and multiprobe applications using both intensity‐ and lifetime‐imaging techniques.  相似文献
