For a coaugmented functor J on spaces, we consider J-modules and finite J-limits. The former are spaces X which are retracts of JX via the natural map. The latter are homotopy limits of J-modules arranged in diagrams whose shape is finite dimensional. Familiar examples are generalised Eilenberg MacLane spaces, which are the SP∞-modules. Finite SP∞-limits are nilpotent spaces with a very strong finiteness property. We show that the cofacial Bousfield-Kan construction of the functors Jn is universal for finite J-limits in the sense that every map X→Y where Y is a finite J-limit, factors through such natural map X→JnX, for some n<∞. 相似文献

We will provide an analysis of the generalized Atiyah-Hirzebruch spectral sequence (GAHSS), which was introduced by Hakim-Hashemi and Kahn. To do so, we introduce a new class of functors, called n-exact functors, which are analogous to Goodwillie’s n-excisive functors. In the study of these functors, we introduce a new spectral sequence, the homological Barratt-Goerss spectral sequence (HBGSS), which has properties similar to those of the classical Barratt-Goerss Spectral Sequence on homotopy. We close by giving an identification of the E2 term of the GAHSS in the case of 2-exact functors on Moore spaces. 相似文献

The classical Mac Lane-Whitehead equivalence showing that crossed modules of groups are algebraic models of connected homotopy 2-types has found a corresponding equivariant version by Moerdijk and Svensson ([22]). In this paper we show that this equivariant result has a higher-dimensional version which gives an equivalence between the homotopy category of diagrams of certain objects indexed by the orbit category of a group H and H-equivariant homotopy n-types for n1.Supported by DGICYT:PS90-0226 相似文献

By combining ideas of homotopical algebra and of enriched category theory, we explain how two classical formulas for homotopy colimits, one arising from the work of Quillen and one arising from the work of Bousfield and Kan, are instances of general formulas for the derived functor of the weighted colimit functor. 相似文献

We construct a combinatorical monoidal model category on simplicial flat cocommutative coalgebras over a Prüfer domain. The cofibrations are the morphisms which are pure as module maps. 相似文献

This paper represents a step toward a model structure on pro-spectra in which the weak equivalences are the maps inducing pro-isomorphisms of all pro-homotopy groups. We construct a category in which these weak equivalences are inverted and show that we have not inverted “too much,” in the sense that isomorphic objects still give pro-isomorphic cohomology groups. 相似文献

Free and cofree equivariant spectra are important classes of equivariant spectra which represent equivariant cohomology theories on free equivariant spaces. Greenlees-Shipley [24], [26] and Pol and the author [45] have given an algebraic model for rational (co)free equivariant spectra. In this paper, we extend this framework by proving that the Quillen functors of induction-restriction-coinduction between categories of (co)free rational equivariant spectra correspond to Quillen functors between the algebraic models in the case of connected compact Lie groups. This is achieved using new abstract techniques regarding correspondences of Quillen functors along Quillen equivalences, which we expect to be of use in other applications. 相似文献

Recently the authors have defined a coherent prohomotopy category of topological spaces CPHTop [5]. In the present paper, which is a sequel to Part I [6], the authors define a strong homology functor Hs:CPHTop→Ab. The results of this paper are essential for the construction of a Steenrod-Sitnikov homology theory for arbitrary spaces. 相似文献

We present a new approach to simple homotopy theory of polyhedra using finite topological spaces. We define the concept of collapse of a finite space and prove that this new notion corresponds exactly to the concept of a simplicial collapse. More precisely, we show that a collapse X↘Y of finite spaces induces a simplicial collapse K(X)↘K(Y) of their associated simplicial complexes. Moreover, a simplicial collapse K↘L induces a collapse X(K)↘X(L) of the associated finite spaces. This establishes a one-to-one correspondence between simple homotopy types of finite simplicial complexes and simple equivalence classes of finite spaces. We also prove a similar result for maps: We give a complete characterization of the class of maps between finite spaces which induce simple homotopy equivalences between the associated polyhedra. This class describes all maps coming from simple homotopy equivalences at the level of complexes. The advantage of this theory is that the elementary move of finite spaces is much simpler than the elementary move of simplicial complexes: It consists of removing (or adding) just a single point of the space. 相似文献

Let X be a 1-connected CW-complex of finite type and Lx its rational homotopy Lie algebra. In this work, we show that there is a spectral sequence whose E2 term is the Lie algebra ExtULx(Q, Lx), and which converges to the homotopy Lie algebra of the classifying space B autX. Moreover, some terms of this spectral sequence are related to derivations of Lx and to the Gottlieb group of X. 相似文献

The category of small covariant functors from simplicial sets to simplicial sets supports the projective model structure [B. Chorny, W.G. Dwyer, Homotopy theory of small diagrams over large categories, preprint, 2005]. In this paper we construct various localizations of the projective model structure and also give a variant for functors from simplicial sets to spectra. We apply these model categories in the study of calculus of functors, namely for a classification of polynomial and homogeneous functors. In the n-homogeneous model structure, the nth derivative is a Quillen functor to the category of spectra with Σn-action. After taking into account only finitary functors—which may be done in two different ways—the above Quillen map becomes a Quillen equivalence. This improves the classification of finitary homogeneous functors by T.G. Goodwillie [T.G. Goodwillie, Calculus. III. Taylor series, Geom. Topol. 7 (2003) 645-711 (electronic)]. 相似文献

Let A be a DGA over a field and X a module over H∗(A). Fix an A∞-structure on H∗(A) making it quasi-isomorphic to A. We construct an equivalence of categories between An+1-module structures on X and length n Postnikov systems in the derived category of A-modules based on the bar resolution of X. This implies that quasi-isomorphism classes of An-structures on X are in bijective correspondence with weak equivalence classes of rigidifications of the first n terms of the bar resolution of X to a complex of A-modules. The above equivalences of categories are compatible for different values of n. This implies that two obstruction theories for realizing X as the homology of an A-module coincide. 相似文献

Given any model category, or more generally any category with weak equivalences, its simplicial localization is a simplicial category which can rightfully be called the “homotopy theory” of the model category. There is a model category structure on the category of simplicial categories, so taking its simplicial localization yields a “homotopy theory of homotopy theories”. In this paper we show that there are two different categories of diagrams of simplicial sets, each equipped with an appropriate definition of weak equivalence, such that the resulting homotopy theories are each equivalent to the homotopy theory arising from the model category structure on simplicial categories. Thus, any of these three categories with the respective weak equivalences could be considered a model for the homotopy theory of homotopy theories. One of them in particular, Rezk’s complete Segal space model category structure on the category of simplicial spaces, is much more convenient from the perspective of making calculations and therefore obtaining information about a given homotopy theory. 相似文献

Classical homological algebra takes place in additive categories. In homotopy theory such additive categories arise as homotopy categories of “additive groupoid enriched categories”, in which a secondary analog of homological algebra can be performed. We introduce secondary chain complexes and secondary resolutions leading to the concept of secondary derived functors. As a main result we show that the E3-term of the Adams spectral sequence can be expressed as a secondary derived functor. This result can be used to compute the E3-term explicitly by an algorithm. 相似文献

In this article we extend Hilton's projective homotopy theory of modules (Hilton, 1967) to a homotopy theory of crossed modules, and then reduce some resulting homotopy classification problems to problems in group homology. We also observe that our homotopy theory satisfies the axioms of a Baues fibration category (Baues, 1989).This author would like to thank the University of Cape Town for its hospitality. 相似文献

In this paper we propose an approach to homotopical algebra where the basic ingredient is a category with two classes of distinguished morphisms: strong and weak equivalences. These data determine the cofibrant objects by an extension property analogous to the classical lifting property of projective modules. We define a Cartan-Eilenberg category as a category with strong and weak equivalences such that there is an equivalence of categories between its localisation with respect to weak equivalences and the relative localisation of the subcategory of cofibrant objects with respect to strong equivalences. This equivalence of categories allows us to extend the classical theory of derived additive functors to this non additive setting. The main examples include Quillen model categories and categories of functors defined on a category endowed with a cotriple (comonad) and taking values on a category of complexes of an abelian category. In the latter case there are examples in which the class of strong equivalences is not determined by a homotopy relation. Among other applications of our theory, we establish a very general acyclic models theorem. 相似文献

A stable model category is a setting for homotopy theory where the suspension functor is invertible. The prototypical examples are the category of spectra in the sense of stable homotopy theory and the category of unbounded chain complexes of modules over a ring. In this paper we develop methods for deciding when two stable model categories represent ‘the same homotopy theory’. We show that stable model categories with a single compact generator are equivalent to modules over a ring spectrum. More generally stable model categories with a set of generators are characterized as modules over a ‘ring spectrum with several objects’, i.e., as spectrum valued diagram categories. We also prove a Morita theorem which shows how equivalences between module categories over ring spectra can be realized by smashing with a pair of bimodules. Finally, we characterize stable model categories which represent the derived category of a ring. This is a slight generalization of Rickard's work on derived equivalent rings. We also include a proof of the model category equivalence of modules over the Eilenberg-Mac Lane spectrum HR and (unbounded) chain complexes of R-modules for a ring R. 相似文献

We introduce a very general framework in which Quillen's theorems of existence, composition and adjunction for derived functors can be proved. We thus generalize and unify previous results by Dwyer, Hirschhorn, Kan and Smith, obtained in their formalism of “homotopical categories,” and by Radulescu-Banu in the context of Cisinski's “derivable categories.” 相似文献
