On the Structure of a Certain Class of Mixed Tsirelson Spaces

We study Banach spaces of the form We call such a space a p-space, p[1,), if for every k the space is isomorphic to _pk and the sequence (p_k) strictly decreases to p. We examine the finite block representability of the spaces _r in a p-space proving that it depends not only on p but also on the sequences (p_k) and (n_k). Assuming that _i n_i ^1/q decreases to 0, where q is the conjugate exponent of p, we prove the existence of an asymptotic biorthogonal system in X and also that c ₀ is finitely representable in X. Moreover we investigate the modified versions of p-spaces proving that, if n_km1/pkm-1/pk_m-1 increases to infinity for a subsequence (n_km) , then ₁ embeds into X. We also investigate complemented minimality for the class of spaces where is either a subsequence of the sequence of Schreier classes ( _n)_{n N} or a subsequence of ( _n)_{n N}.     

On Tsirelson’s space

A structure theory is developed for Tsirelson’s example of a Banach space which contains no isomorphic copy ofl _p orc ₀. In particular, it is shown that this space is the first example, other than subspaces ofl _p andc ₀, of a Banach space which embeds isomorphically into each of its infinite dimensional subspaces. On a Type of Mixed Norm Spaces

In this paper the mixed norm spaces L(B,p,q) and their duals are investigated. In the case p,q < it is proved that the dual of L(B,p,q) is L(B,p,q), where p-1 + p-1 = 1 and q-1 + q-1 = 1. For p = 2 and q = an isometric isomorphism is discussed between the mixed norm space L(B,2,) and L(B,2), the L-space of 2-valued functions. Here a measurability theorem is proved for 2-valued functions. The dual of an important subspace of L(B,2,) is characterized as a space of vector measures. Finally, as an application we show that if B is finitely generated then the dual of L(B,2,) is L(B,2,1).

On Mixed Pressure-Velocity Regularity Criteria in Lorentz Spaces

In this paper the authors derive regular criteria in Lorentz spaces for LerayHopf weak solutions v of the three-dimensional Navier-Stokes equations based on the formal equivalence relationπ≌|v|²,whereπdenotes the fluid pressure and v denotes the fluid velocity.It is called the mixed pressure-velocity problem(the P-V problem for short).It is shown that if(π/(e-^|(x)|²+|v|^θ∈L^p(0,T;L^q,∞),where 0≤θ≤1 and 2/p+3/q=2-θ,then v is regular on(0,T].Note that,ifΩ,is periodic,e^-|x|2 may be replaced by a positive constant.This result improves a 2018 statement obtained by one of the authors.Furthermore,as an integral part of the contribution,the authors give an overview on the known results on the P-V problem,and also on two main techniques used by many authors to establish sufficient conditions for regularity of the so-called Ladyzhenskaya-Prodi-Serrin(L-P-S for short)type.     

Families of Finite Subsets of ℕ of Low Complexity and Tsirelson Type Spaces

We study Tsirelson type spaces of the form T[(ℳ︁_k, θ_k)^l_k=1] defined by a finite sequence (ℳ︁_k)^l_k=1 of compact families of finite subsets of ℕ. Using an appropriate index, denoted by i(ℳ︁), to measure the complexity of a family ℳ︁, we prove the following: If i(ℳ︁_k) < ω for all k = 1, …, l, then the space T[(ℳ︁_k, θ_k)^l_k=1] contains isomorphically some l_p, 1 < p < ∞, or c₀. If i(ℳ︁) = ω, then the space T[ℳ︁, θ] contains a subspace isomorphic to a subspace of the original Tsirelson's space.

On Hardy Inequality in Variable Lebesgue Spaces with Mixed Norm

In this paper a two-weight boundedness of multidimensional Hardy operator and its dual operator acting from one weighted variable Lebesgue spaces with mixed norm into other weighted variable Lebesgue spaces with mixed norm spaces is proved. In particular, a new type two-weight criterion for multidimensional Hardy operator is obtained.

Mixed Norm and Multidimensional Lorentz Spaces

In the last decade, the problem of characterizing the normability of the weighted Lorentz spaces has been completely solved ([16], [7]). However, the question for multidimensional Lorentz spaces is still open. In this paper, we consider weights of product type, and give necessary and sufficient conditions for the Lorentz spaces, defined with respect to the two-dimensional decreasing rearrangement, to be normable. To this end, it is also useful to study the mixed norm Lorentz spaces. Finally, we prove embeddings between all the classical, multidimensional, and mixed norm Lorentz spaces. On Well-Posedness of 2D Dissipative Quasi-Geostrophic Equation in Critical Mixed Norm Lebesgue Spaces

We establish local and global well-posedness of the 2D dissipative quasi-geostrophic equation in critical mixed norm Lebesgue spaces. The result demonstrates the persistence of the anisotropic behavior of the initial data under the evolution of the 2D dissipative quasi-geostrophic equation. The phenomenon is a priori nontrivial due to the nonlocal structure of the equation. Our approach is based on Kato's method using Picard's iteration, which can be adapted to the multi-dimensional case and other nonlinear non-local equations. We develop time decay estimates for solutions of fractional heat equation in mixed norm Lebesgue spaces that could be useful for other problems.     

Strict and Mixed Topologies on Function Spaces

In this paper we prove that the strict topology on spaces of continuous and holomorphic functions on a BANACH space can be considered a mixed topology. Using this fact, we obtain new results about the strict topology, as an application of the general properties of mixed topologies.

On Complementary Spaces of the Lizorkin Spaces

Let S(Rⁿ){\cal S}(R^n) be the Schwartz space on R ⁿ . For a subspace V ì S(Rⁿ)V\subset {\cal S}(R^n), if a subspace W ì S(Rⁿ)W \subset {\cal S}(R^n) satisfies the condition that S(Rⁿ){\cal S}(R^n) is a direct sum of V and W, then W is called a complementary space of V in S(Rⁿ){\cal S}(R^n). In this article we give complementary spaces of two kinds of the Lizorkin spaces in S(Rⁿ){\cal S}(R^n).     

Some Inequalities in Classical Spaces with Mixed Norms

We consider some inequalities in such classical Banach Function Spaces as Lorentz, Marcinkiewicz, and Orlicz spaces. Our aim is to explore connections between the norm of a function of two variables on the product space and the mixed norm of the same function, where mixed norm is calculated in function spaces on coordinate spaces, first in one variable, then in the other. This issue is motivated by various problems of functional analysis and theory of functions. We will currently mention just geometry of spaces of vector-valued functions and embedding theorems for Sobolev and Besov spaces generated by metrics which differ from L ^p. Our main results are actually counterexamples for Lorentz spaces versus the natural intuition that arises from the easier case of Orlicz spaces (Section 2). In the Appendix we give a proof for the Kolmogorov–Nagumo theorem on change of order of mixed norm calculation in its most general form. This result shows that L ^p is the only space where it is possible to change this order.     

Mackey Topologies and Mixed Topologies in Riesz Spaces

The possibility of characterizing the Mackey topology of a dual pair of vector spaces as a generalized inductive limit (or mixed) topology is investigated. Positive answers are given for a wide range of dual pairs of Riesz spaces (vector lattices) and non-commutative Banach function spaces (or symmetric operator spaces).
