The implications of magnetic translations for internal optical transitions of charged mobile electron-hole (e-h) complexes and ions in a uniform magnetic field B are discussed. It is shown that transitions of such complexes are governed by a novel exact selection rule. A differential thermal analysis in vacuum and studies of the coefficients of electrical conductivity and thermal conductivity, and of the thermal emf are made in Ag2Te in the neighborhood of the structural phase transition. It is shown that these data can be used to calculate the switching factor L(T), determine the region in which the phases coexist within the transition, and calculate the thermodynamic parameters. Prior to and after the main phase transition, additional displacement transitions are observed. It is found that the phase transition takes place roughly according to the scheme α 385 Kα405 Kβ420 Kβ 440 K. The specific heat C p, changes in entropy ΔS and transition enthalpy ΔH, as well as the minimum phase fluctuation volume V, and the heat Q of the phase transition are determined. It is shown that excesses of Te and Ag have almost no effect on the transition temperatures T 0, but have a substantial effect on the thermodynamic parameters. Fiz. Tverd. We derive probabilistic limit theorems that reveal the intricate structure of the phase transitions in a mean-field version of the Blume–Emery–Griffiths model [Phys. Rev. A 4 (1971) 1071–1077]. These probabilistic limit theorems consist of scaling limits for the total spin and moderate deviation principles (MDPs) for the total spin. The model under study is defined by a probability distribution that depends on the parameters n, β, and K, which represent, respectively, the number of spins, the inverse temperature, and the interaction strength. The intricate structure of the phase transitions is revealed by the existence of 18 scaling limits and 18 MDPs for the total spin. These limit results are obtained as (β,K) converges along appropriate sequences (βn, kn) to points belonging to various subsets of the phase diagram, which include a curve of second-order points and a tricritical point. The forms of the limiting densities in the scaling limits and of the rate functions in the MDPs reflect the influence of one or more sets that lie in neighborhoods of the critical points and the tricritical point. Of all the scaling limits, the structure of those near the tricritical point is by far the most complex, exhibiting new types of critical behavior when observed in a limit-theorem phase diagram in the space of the two parameters that parametrize the scaling limits. A vector field q (the order parameter of the molecular packing) describing the packing (specifically, the orientation) of membrane-forming amphiphilic molecules is introduced to describe the structures of lyotropic phases constructed from membranes. In the general case q·n≠0 (where n is the unit normal vector) and therefore the singularities of the vector field q are not determined uniquely by the topology of the surface. The condition q·n=0 signifies disruption of the packing of the molecules. This corresponds to holes, which can form in membranes when lyotropic systems are diluted. As an illustration, the simplest type of such singularities, in which the distribution of the field q around a hole is described by a part of an instanton with unit topological charge, is studied. It is shown that such a distribution guarantees the existence of a local minimum under the condition that the tension per unit length λ of the hole boundary is small compared with the deformation energy of the field q: λh/K≪l (K is the modulus of the orientational elasticity of the field q and h is the thickness of the membrane). We have investigated the absorption spectrum of thin films of the superionic conductor RbCu4Cl3I2 synthesized on NaCl crystalline substrates. It is shown that the electron and exciton excitations in the energy interval 3–6 eV are associated with optical transitions in the CuHal sublattice, and the edge of the fundamental band is controlled by optical transitions in the Cu(II)Hal sublattice. It is found that the large band gap of this compound (E g =3.86 eV) in comparison with those of CuCl and CuI is a result of the small number of Cu ions in the second coordination sphere. The temperature dependence of the spectral position and half-width of the low-temperature exciton band reveals features associated with the phase transitions γβ (T c1=170 K) and βα (T c2=220 K) and with disordering of the cation sublattice attendant to the transition to the superionic state. The current-voltage characteristics (IVCs) of a layered superconductor with singlet d pairing at low temperatures are calculated in the internal Josephson effect (IJE) regime. Coherent electron tunneling between layers is assumed. A finite resistance of the superconductor in the resistive state arises because of quasiparticle transitions through the superconducting gap near nodes. Because of charge effects the interaction of the Josephson junctions formed by the layers does not lead to substantial differences in the shapes of different branches of the IVCs. The model describes the basic qualitative features of the effect in high-temperature superconductors for voltages which are low compared with the amplitude of the superconducting gap. A theoretical study is reported of fluctuations in smectic layer displacements and of the correlations between them in free-standing smectic-A films formed of liquid-crystal compounds with smectic-A-isotropic liquid (Sm-A-I) and Sm-A-nematic (Sm-A-N) bulk phase transitions. The study took into account the dependence of the elastic constants for bending, K, and tension (compression), B, of smectic layers on distance to the free film surfaces. The calculations are compared with the results obtained within Hołyst’s model for spatially uniform, free-standing smectic-A films. It has been established that, below the temperature at which smectic order in the bulk of a liquid crystal disappears, taking into account the profiles of the elastic moduli K and B does not produce noticeable differences from this model. However, at temperatures considerably above the Sm-A-I and Sm-A-N phase transitions, their inclusion results in considerable discrepancies from the predictions of Hołyst’s model. Fiz. Tverd. Structural phase transitions in RbxK1−x LiSO4 mixed crystals (with x varying from 0 to 1) have been studied from the melting point to liquid-nitrogen temperature. Calorimetric (DTA and DSM) data, birefringence and optical polarization measurements were used to construct the full phase (T-x) diagram. It has been established that crystals of most compositions (x⩽0.95) grow in the hexagonal-trigonal KLiSO4 structure. Replacement of K by the larger Rb atom results in a considerable increase of the region of existence of the P31c phase and expulsion of the high-temperature hexagonal phase. Fiz. Tverd. The fine structure in the titanium x-ray K-edge absorption has been measured in Ti1−x NbxO2 mixed dioxides (x=0–0.1) with rutile structure in a laboratory-type spectrometer by total electron quantum-yield measurement. The position of the XANES lines is shown to be in good agreement with classical x-ray absorption spectra obtained in transmission. The structure and main features of the XANES spectra, including the effects of impurities and manyelectron excitations, are discussed. It is suggested that the intensity of the B peak characteristic of the titanium K edge depends on the Nb concentration and correlates with the charge state of titanium ions. Fiz. Tverd. It is shown that, when the dispersion of the energy bands of crystals is investigated by resonant x-ray emission (RXE), an ambiguity can arise in the determination of k tr — the transition point in k space — as a result of the characteristic features of the band structure and the value of the matrix elements. It is proposed that calculations of the distribution of partial contributions to interband optical transitions in the Brillouin zone (BZ) be used as a means of obtaining a simplified estimate of k tr. The basic properties of this distribution are examined for lithium hydride, which is a convenient model object having a simple band structure and interband transitions which have been studied in detail. It is shown that the k points of the general position, which form a complex figure in the BZ, make the main contribution to the interband transitions. The contribution of high-symmetry points is much smaller mainly because of their small representativeness. This make it easier to understand the reason for the possible nonmonotonic variation of k tr in RXE measurements of the dispersion of the energy bands of crystals or the sharp changes in the resonance-fluorescence intensity. This report is a continuation of an analysis, initiated elsewhere V.V. Vecheslavov and B. V. Chirikov, Zh. éksp. Teor. Fiz. 114, 1516 (1998) [JETP 86, 823 (1998)], of the effect of splitting of the separatrix of a nonlinear resonance for the model of standard mapping, based on results of direct measurements of the splitting angle α(K), where K is the system parameter. Measurements were made in the previously used wide range 0.1≳α≳10−208 (1⩾K⩾0.0004), but with significantly higher relative (better than 1050) and average (∼10−55) accuracy. This procedure made it possible to substantially refine the effects observed in Ref. 1 and construct qualitatively new empirical dependences providing reliable extrapolation of the data obtained for the angle and the invariant in the intermediate asymptotic limit K≲10−2 beyond the limits of the investigated region. The results obtained by us can be useful for further development of the theory of separatrix splitting and formation of the stochastic layer of a nonlinear resonance. Zh. éksp. Teor. It is established that the Hall effect in Fe/SiO2 nanocomposite films in the activational tunneling conduction range is anomalous, i.e., the Hall resistivity ρh is proportional to the magnetization and is due to the spin-orbit interaction. The parametric coupling of the Hall and longitudinal (ρxx) resistances ρh ∝ ρ xx m (with temperature as the parameter) is characterized by a much lower value of the exponent m than in a uniform ferromagnetic metal. This circumstance is attributed to the characteristic features of the Hall effect mechanism in the hopping regime — in our case, the interference of the amplitudes of tunneling transitions in a set of three granules. Low-temperature photoluminescence, exciton reflection, and multiphonon resonant Raman scattering spectra of Ni-and Co-doped Zn1−x MnxTe crystals were investigated. Intense emission occurs in a broad spectral region (1100–17 000 cm−1) in the crystals containing Ni atoms. It is caused by intracenter transitions involving Mn2+ ions and transitions between the conduction band and a level of the doubly charged acceptor. The features of the exciton photoluminescence and multiphonon resonant Raman scattering involving longitudinal-optical (LO) phonons at various temperatures are investigated. The insignificant efficiency of the localization of excitons on potential fluctuations in the Zn1−x MnxTe:Co crystals is established. A temperature-induced increase in the intensity of the 5LO multiphonon resonant Raman scattering line due to the approach of the conditions for resonance between this line and the ground exciton state is observed in these crystals. In-beam nuclear spectroscopic studies of182Re, following the reaction181Ta(α, 3n)182Re have been made using gamma-ray and internal conversion electron techniques.K-conversion coefficients for several transitions have been measured and the multi-polarities of the various transitions assigned. In particular, the spin and parity of the four-quasi-particle isomeric level at 2256 keV were determined to be 16. Theg-factor of this level has been measured to beg = 0·32 ± 0·05. On the basis of theg-factor and the decay pattern of this level, a configuration {v9/2+ [624↑]v7/2 [514↓]v7/2 [503↑]π9/2 [514↑]} k x = 16 has been assigned to this level. The nature of the retardation of the gamma transitions deexciting this level is discussed. It is argued that the measured retardation factors can be explained if the nucleus has a triaxial shape.  相似文献

We present the results of numerical modeling and a theoretical analysis of the splitting of a nonlinear-resonance separatrix in the intermediate asymptotic region for the standard-map model. Direct measurements of the splitting angle α(K), where K is the small parameter of the system, have been carried out over a huge range, 0.1≳α≳10−208 (1⩾K⩾0.0004), with a relative accuracy greater than one part in 10−25 and an average accuracy of roughly one part in 10−30. This made it possible to compare in detail our results with those of the existing asymptotic theory and to detect a number of new effects. We find a relatively simple empirical expression for the α vs. K dependence in the intermediate asymptotic region, and this region proves to be surprisingly broad: K≲10−2. We also study the effect of noise, in particular, errors in measuring the angle, which proved to be much more significant and complicated than expected. T-odd asymmetries in the angular distributions of evaporation neutrons emitted by thermalized fission fragments in the fission of axially symmetric deformed nuclei by cold polarized neutrons are investigated within the quantum theory of fission. The asymmetries in question are due to the anisotropy of angular distributions of evaporation neutrons in the center-of-mass systems of the fission fragments, and this anisotropy arises from the orientation of large-value fission fragment spins in the direction perpendicular to the direction K 0 of the symmetry axis of the fissioning nucleus at the time of its scission, caused by zero wriggling vibrations of the fissioning nucleus. The angle of rotation of the vector k 0 with respect to the asymptotic direction k 0 of the fissioning nucleus symmetry axis is calculated with allowance for the interference of fission amplitudes of neutron resonances excited in a fissioning nucleus as it captures an incident neutron. It is shown that the T-odd asymmetry coefficient for evaporation neutrons is close in structure and value to the analogous coefficient for evaporation γ-rays.  相似文献

The electrical conductivity, magnetic susceptibility, magnetization, and submillimeter (v=5∓20 cm−1) permittivity and dynamic conductivity of La1−x Sr x MnO3 (0≤x≤ 0.45) single crystals are investigated. The anomalies in the temperature dependences of these quantities are identified with diverse magnetic and structural phase transformations, including antiferromagnetic and ferromagnetic ordering, structural transitions between strongly distorted (Jahn-Teller) and weakly distorted (pseudocubic) orthorhombic phases, structural transitions to a rhombohedral phase and unusual transitions to a polaron-ordering state. As a result, the complete T-x phase diagram of the system La1−2x Sr x MnO3 is constructed in a wide interval of temperatures T=4.2∓1050 K and concentrations x=0−0.45. Pis’ma Zh. éksp. Teor. The excitation function is measured for 7Be+p elastic resonance scattering at an angle of 180° in the center-of-mass frame. The frequency of orientational quantum oscillations of the magnetization near impurity-ion clusters with Ising properties in a saturated magnetic crystal is calculated. It is noted that in compounds of the type HoxY3−x Fe5O12, where magnetic phase transitions are observed, additional magnetization reversal and magnetic resonance features due to mesoscopic oscillations of the magnetization can be observed at low concentrations x<0.001 and cryogenic temperatures in fields comparable to the intersublattice exchange interaction field.
