采用Agilent 81910A光子全参量测试仪,首次实验研究了InP/In1-xGaxAs1-yPy-MQW(Multiple-Quantum-Well,MQW)材料与衬底间因应力而产生的M-Z型光调制器的PDL影响以及由此引起的由差分群时延(Differential Group Delay,DGD)表征的偏振模色散(Polarization Mode Dispersion,PMD).研究结果表明,半导体MQW光调制器的PDL与DGD是一致的.因此在半导体光器件的制作过程中,应尽可能地减小衬底与波导芯层之间的因残存应力的存在造成对光器件的高速性能的不利影响.  相似文献

In this paper, we completely study the wavelength dependency of differential group delay (DGD) and polarization dependent loss (PDL) for Bragg gratings written in birefringent fibers. Based on the coupled mode theory, we present analytical expressions for the evolution with wavelength of the transmission coefficient, the DGD and the PDL. The wavelength dependencies of these evolutions on the birefringence are then discussed. Experimental results are finally presented for an apodized FBG written in a bow-tie fiber. A very good agreement between theory and experience is reported, confirming the validity of the theoretical analysis.  相似文献

对于高速光传输,直接检测的光正交频分复用系统(direct detection optical orthogonal frequency division multiplexing, DDO-OFDM)中的偏振相关损耗(polarization dependent loss, PDL)与偏振模色散相互作用,对系统传输带来较大影响。对DDO-OFDM系统中PDL与一阶PMD作用机理和数学模型进行了分析,并通过数字仿真加以验证。结果表明:在PDL与PMD联合作用下,对OFDM信号幅度及相位均产生影响,通过发送导频序列可有效实现信号均衡;由于输出偏振态随频率产生旋转,PMD效应一定程度上缓解PDL所致系统损伤,差分群时延为50 ps条件下,以10 Gb/s的速率在单模光纤传输480 km,DDO-OFDM系统Q值提高约0.8 dB。  相似文献

In this paper, by introducing a two-stages polarization mode dispersion (PMD) compensator after a optical fiber link with a large PMD, we compensated over 270ps first-order and 2000ps2 high-order PMD in a optical fiber link with super high PMD. Our experimental results shows that, the compensators based on the two-stages of compensator can be used to PMD compensation in a 20Gb/s OTDM system with 60 km high PMD fiber. Before compensation,270ps DGD is became into max. 7ps after compensation. At simultaneity, the tunable FBG have a function of dispersion compensation.  相似文献

We demonstrate an all-optical device that monitors differential group delay (DGD) degradation of picosecond optical pulses. This device is based on an ultrafast all-optical signal analyser that uses nonlinear effects (cross-phase modulation) to transfer rapid temporal fluctuations into frequency domain effects that can be measured on an conventional optical spectrum analyser (incorporating a slow-detector). This monitoring scheme will enable rapid dynamic monitoring and compensation of DGD in ultrafast optical networks, at 160 Gb/s data rates and beyond, where electronic monitoring techniques cannot operate. Low cost statistical PMD/PDL emulator is presented. The emulator was initially designed as a classical PMD emulator. But PDL measurements of the designed emulator show that it can be also used as statistical PDL emulator. The emulator was constructed by concatenating 15 highly birefringence optical fiber segments and randomly varying the mode coupling between them, by rotating the polarization state between them. The achieved numerical and experimental results show that the designed emulator can mimic the polarization effects (PMD and PDL) of a real modern optical fiber link.  相似文献

提出了一种基于光纤光栅中法拉第效应和测量偏振相关损耗的直接测量磁场的新方法,给出了理论分析和实验结果.当有外加磁场时,光纤光栅中的法拉第效应使两个圆偏振光的传播常量改变,从而导致光纤光栅的偏振相关损耗的变化.仿真结果表明,外加磁场与偏振相关损耗峰值在一定的测量范围内存在线性关系,测量结果对温度变化不敏感.分析了光栅的参量对测量性能的影响.实验中得到该方案测量磁场的灵敏度为7.8e-6B/Gs,利用现有精度为10-6 dB的光矢量分析仪得到最小可测磁场为2 Gs.实验与理论吻合较好.  相似文献

We theoretically derive the relationship between the degrees of polarization (DOPs) of input and output for an optical component with polarization-dependent loss (PDL) and birefringence. Based on the theoretical result, we propose a novel depolarizer for quasi-monochromatic light that can depolarize a fully polarized light with a 50 MHz linewidth to less than 0.2% in the DOP The depolarized light is then used to measure PDL in a single-mode optical fiber link. To the best of our knowledge, our new PDL measurement method is significantly faster than all known methods. Experimental results show excellent agreement with other methods.  相似文献

We determined the effect of PMD and PDL; nonlinearity such as XPM, SPM, and FWM; and CD on the system performance. We found that the system outage probability is highest at DGD threshold for the respective maximum eye closure (EC). We showed that the allowable DGD depends on the time slot for one bit T, which is the inverse of the network bit rate. Wider T is more immune to large PMD with the EC still maintained at the same level since DGD/T is unchanged. Our analysis also indicated that as DGD increases, BER increases. The BER also increases with increase in PDL and further increases with the presence of XPM, SPM, FWM, and CD.  相似文献

光纤传递链路中相位噪声探测是基于光纤的精确射频标准传递系统中重要组成部分。为解决光纤链路相位噪声探测中节点反射干扰的问题, 本文基于广义非线性薛定谔方程, 理论上研究了窄带光学频率梳在色散位移光纤中的非线性光学传播特性。在理论分析的基础上, 结合密集波分复用架构, 提出了一种基于锁模光学频率梳进行光纤传递射频信号的相位噪声探测新技术, 克服了节点反射干扰, 给出了初步实验验证。  相似文献

We investigate the potential of n-stage optical finite impulse response (FIR) lattice filter for compensating first order polarization mode dispersion (PMD). This compensation is based on minimizing the differential group delay (DGD) between the two principal state of polarization (PSP) within a given frequency range. The filter is realized by concatenating optical delay lines, directional couplers, and phase shifters in a lattice architecture. A numerical simulation is performed for an 8th and 12th order filters to demonstrate the impact of using higher order filters. The results show that DGD can be reduced significantly as we increase the order of the filter.  相似文献

In this paper, we employ several general models (introduced in Part I) for the evolution of optical fiber birefringence with longitudinal distance to analyze, both theoretically and numerically, the behavior of the polarization mode dispersion (PMD) in single mode fibers. We find that while the probability distribution function of the differential group delay varies along the fiber length as in existing models, the dependence of the root mean square differential group delay (DGD) on fiber length differs noticeably from earlier predictions.  相似文献

为了研究光纤通信中的偏振模色散(PMD)及其对高速光通信系统的影响和补偿技术,研制了一种可编程控制的PMD模拟器,它由6组双折射晶体和磁光晶体组成,群时延差(DGD)变化范围为±(0.3~35) ps,可设为不同平均值的Maxwell统计分布随机变化,也可以设为其它要求的数学分布.实验证明,该模拟器测量值与理论符合得很好,且具有较高的重复性和稳定性,响应时间小于1 ms.这种模拟器可用于10 Gb/s和40 Gb/s光传输系统PMD问题的研究.  相似文献

光纤通信线路检测到的电功率随差分群延迟变化, 可以作为PMD补偿的反馈控制信号.给出了这一变化关系的理论计算和曲线并通过实验验证这一关系, 确定电压信号与DGD的变化关系.建立了一套完整的实验系统, 并考虑了影响反馈电压信号的多种因素以及减小这些影响的措施.眼图给出的实验结果说明了补偿的效果, 还利用误码测试仪测量了补偿前后的接收灵敏度的改变以定量说明补偿的效果, 最后比较了不同情况下的补偿结果.  相似文献
