This paper investigates design, fabrication and drive of an ultrasonic clutch with two transducers. For the two transducers, one serving as a driving element of the clutch is connected to a driving shaft via a coupling, and the other serving as a slave element of the clutch is connected to a slave shaft via another coupling. The principle of ultrasonic levitation is first expressed. Then, a series-resonant inverter is used to generate AC voltages at input terminals of each transducer, and a speed measuring system with optic sensors is used to find the relationship between rotational speed of the slave shaft and applied voltage of each transducer. Moreover, contact surfaces of the two transducers are coupled by the frictional force when both the two transducers are not energized, and separated using the ultrasonic levitation when at least one of the two transducers is energized at high voltages at resonance.  相似文献

Conventional ultrasound color flow mapping systems estimate and visualize only the axial velocity component. To obtain the transverse velocity component a modification of a multiple-beam method is proposed. The new two-dimensional color flow mapping system has a small size and consists of three transducers. The central transducer is an appodized and focused phased array. The other transducers are unfocused probes. Three transducers act as receivers and the central transducer operates as a transmitter. All receivers acquire rf scan lines that are then processed to estimate three axial velocity components using an autocorrelation method. These estimates are then combined to estimate the transverse velocity component, taking into account the geometric relationships among three transducers. Two algorithms for transverse velocity estimation are proposed. The first uses the Doppler angle estimate for calculation of the transverse velocity component. The other algorithm calculates the transverse velocity component directly from the axial components. The accuracy of the flow velocity estimators is estimated by simulations. Analysis of accuracy allows choosing the more effective algorithm for two-dimensional velocity estimation, which is insensitive to variations of the Doppler angle.  相似文献

This paper describes piezoelectric multilayer transducers for application in ultrasonic pulse compression systems. The transducers are constructed in such a way as to produce binary pulse sequences, in particular Barker-coded sequences. This is achieved by the polarization pattern of the active layers. Pulse compression is effected without any electronic circuitry by using a receiver transducer with a pattern corresponding to that of the transmitter.  相似文献

Computational results obtained by solving the synthesis and analysis problems on the compensation of back radiation of two-section rod-type transducers, the sections of which are excited by voltages differing in amplitude and phase, are considered. It is shown that, by choosing the appropriate amplitudes and phases of voltages, the back radiation can be fully compensated for in the entire operating frequency band of the transducer (the synthesis problem) and also at specific tunable frequencies with minimization of the back radiation in certain frequency regions. The influence of some of the excitation methods and structural parameters of transducers on the transducer frequency characteristics is analyzed. Results of experimental studies are presented.  相似文献

Excitation and propagation of Lamb waves by using rectangular and circular piezoelectric transducers surface-bonded to an isotropic plate are investigated in this work. Analytical stain wave solutions are derived for the two transducer shapes, giving the responses of these transducers in Lamb wave fields. The analytical study is supported by a numerical simulation using the finite element method. Symmetric and antisymmetric components in the wave propagation responses are inspected in detail with respect to test parameters such as the transducer geometry, the length and the excitation frequency. By placing only one piezoelectric transducer on the top or the bottom surface of the plate and weakening the strength of one mode while enhancing the strength of the other modes to find the centre frequency, with which the peak wave amplitude ratio between the S0 and A0 modes is maximum, a single mode excitation from the multiple modes of the Lamb waves can be achieved approximately. Experimental data are presented to show the validity of the analyses. The results are used to optimize the Lamb wave detection system.  相似文献

针对目前渔业声学宽频带回波散射测量系统采用多个不同频带的换能器合成、结构复杂且不方便携带的缺点,本文提出一种使用低机械品质因数、高谐振频率的积层压电致动器作为核心压电元件的"朗之万"型宽带水声换能器。测试结果表明,该换能器适用的频率范围为20 kHz~150 kHz,在三个渔业声学常用频率38 kHz、70 kHz、120 kHz下的-3 dB波束宽度分别为20.0°、11.5°、5.0°,可以满足对常见渔业资源种类的宽带声学回波散射特征的测量要求。  相似文献

A non-linear control method, known as Variable Structure Control (VSC), is employed to reduce the duration of ultrasonic (US) transducer transients. A physically realizable system using a simplified form of the VSC algorithm is proposed for standard piezoelectric transducers and simulated. Results indicate a VSC-controlled transmitter reduces the transient duration to less than a carrier wave cycle. Applications include high capacity ultrasound communication and localization systems.  相似文献

The use of conical piezoelectric transducers as point acoustic sources has been investigated. It has been shown that transducers based on a design originally developed at the National Institute for Standards and Technology in the USA can be used as point transmitters over the frequency range of interest in acoustic emission measurements (100 kHz to around 1 MHz). They should, therefore, be suitable for use in experiments to calibrate structures so that acoustic emission source strengths can be determined. It has also been shown that measurements of the response of the transmitting transducer backing can be used to assess the coupling efficiency, and hence to remove concerns about inconsistent coupling affecting the calibration measurements. The results indicate that the variation of the backing response with coupling is due to a shift in the resonance frequencies of the transducer with the mechanical load impedance. If other transducers can be shown to behave in a similar fashion this effect could be used to measure coupling in standard acoustic emission and ultrasonic transducers.  相似文献

An estimation procedure to efficiently find approximate values of internal parameters in ultrasonic transducers intended for broadband operation would be a valuable tool to discover internal construction data. This information is necessary in the modelling and simulation of acoustic and electrical behaviour related to ultrasonic systems containing commercial transducers. There is not a general solution for this generic problem of parameter estimation in the case of broadband piezoelectric probes. In this paper, this general problem is briefly analysed for broadband conditions. The viability of application in this field of an artificial intelligence technique supported on the modelling of the transducer internal components is studied. A genetic algorithm (GA) procedure is presented and applied to the estimation of different parameters, related to two transducers which are working as pulsed transmitters. The efficiency of this GA technique is studied, considering the influence of the number and variation range of the estimated parameters. Estimation results are experimentally ratified.  相似文献

For medical high frequency acoustic imaging purposes the reduction in size of a single transducer element for one-dimensional and even more for two-dimensional arrays is more and more limited by fabrication and cabling technology. In the fields of industrial distance measurement and simple object recognition low cost phased arrays are lacking. Both problems can be solved with micromachined ultrasound transducers (MUTs). A single transducer is made of a large number of microscopic elements. Because of the array structure of these transducers, groups of elements can be built up and used as a phased array. By integrating parts of the sensor electronics on chip, the cabling effort for arrays can be reduced markedly. In contrast to standard ultrasonic technology, which is based on massive thickness resonators, vibrating membranes are the radiating elements of the MUTs. New micromachining technologies have emerged, allowing a highly reproducible fabrication of electrostatically driven membranes with gap heights below 500 nm. A microelectronic BiCMOS process was extended for surface micromechanics (T. Scheiter et al., Proceedings 11th European Conference on Solid-State Transducers, Warsaw, Vol. 3, 1997, pp. 1595-1598). Additional process steps were included for the realization of the membranes which form sealed cavities with the underlying substrate. Membrane and substrate are the opposite electrodes of a capacitive transducer. The transducers can be integrated monolithically on one chip together with the driving, preamplifying and multiplexing circuitry, thus reducing parasitic capacities and noise level significantly. Owing to their low mass the transducers are very well matched to fluid loads, resulting in a very high bandwidth of 50-100% (C. Eccardt et al., Proceedings Ultrasonics Symposium, San Antonio, Vol. 2, 1996, pp. 959-962; P.C. Eccardt et al., Proceedings of the 1997 Ultrasonics Symposium, Toronto, Vol. 2, 1997, pp. 1609-1618). In the following it is shown how the BiCMOS process has been modified to meet the demands for ultrasound generation and reception. Bias and driving voltages have been reduced down to the 10 V range. The electromechanical coupling is now almost comparable with that for piezoelectric transducers. The measurements exhibit sound pressures and bandwidths that are at least comparable with those of conventional piezoelectric transducer arrays.  相似文献

A new method of spatial compound imaging is presented that improves image quality without the usual requirement to decrease the frame rate. The new method of imaging utilizes three transducers for data acquisition. The transducer located at the center of the transducer system is a phased array probe that acts as both transmitter and receiver. The other transducers are unfocused pistons that act only as receivers. Envelope data acquired by each transducer are combined to form a final image with improved quality (speckle contrast, target detectability and lateral resolution). It is shown that the improvement in speckle contrast depends on the correlation between individual images acquired by the transducers. The effective aperture approach is used for analytic estimation of the correlation between images in order to optimize the lateral separation between transducers. Using simulations, several compounding strategies have been performed to find the strategy that maximizes image quality. The central frequency of 2.5 MHz is used in simulations. Quantitative analysis of simulated B-mode images shows that the new method of imaging efficiently improves visibility, detectability, and lateral resolution of low contrast regions. The image frame rate is preserved because multiple scans are not required for the spatial compounding.  相似文献

超声换能器声场的测试对于超声检测具有基础性作用,而传统的超声换能器声场测试方法具有一些局限性。本文介绍了搭建的动态激光光弹实验平台,并利用动态光弹法测量了纵波换能器和横波换能器辐射声场的特征,由瞬态声场图像获得了传声介质的声波速度及超声换能器的中心频率;由稳态声场图像获得了声场的近场长度、指向性和扩散角等参数;分析了光弹实验系统和测量方法可能引起测量误差。本文结果表明动态光弹法是一种有效的定量测量超声换能器声场的方法。  相似文献

Time Domain Topological Energy (TDTE), uses the reflected ultrasonic field recorded by an array of transducers placed on the boundary of the inspected medium. Two numerical determinations (forward and adjoint problems) of the acoustical field inside a reference medium are necessary to compute an image. Topological Energy is defined as a variation of topological sensitivity or gradient and comes from the field of mathematical optimisation. Recent developments for Non-Destructive Testing have shown the analogy with Time Reversal concepts. Time Reversal mirrors have been employed for various applications in a wide number of situations including wave guides where very good re-focalization performances have been obtained with a reduced number of transducers instead of an array of transducers. Moreover recent works have enlightened that the reverberation properties of a wave guide allow to re-focalize using Time Reversal with only one transducer. For TDTE imaging a single transducer placed at one end of a wave guide has been modelled. The boundaries of the wave guide create virtual sources that can be understood as a virtual array of transducers. Numerical and experimental results are presented using TDTE and a single transducer in a wave guide for targets and conditions of increasing complexity.  相似文献

Using a theoretical model, we simulate the responses of piezoelectric transducers having lack of parallelism between their two faces. Verification of the model's validity is carried out by recording theoretical and experimental responses of piezoelectric transmitters and receivers with different degrees of parallelism defects. We conclude that, by using a simple theoretical model, we may forecast experimental responses of a transducer whose faces are not rigorously parallel.  相似文献

The ability to generate short focused ultrasonic pulses with duration on the order of one period of carrier frequency depends on the bandwidth of the transmitter as the pulse duration is inversely proportional to the bandwidth. Conventional focusing arrays used for focusing ultrasound have limited bandwidth due to the resonant nature of the piezoelements generating ultrasound. Theoretically it is possible to build a broadband phased array composed of “non-resonant” elements: wedge-shaped or flat-concave piezotransducers, though there are numerous technical difficulties in designing arrays with hundreds of elements of complex shape. This task is much easier to realize in an alternative technique of ultrasound focusing based on the principles of Time Reversed Acoustics (TRA) because in TRA systems, effective focusing can be achieved with just a few, or even one, transducers. The goal of this study is to demonstrate the possibility of broadband focusing of ultrasonic waves using a TRA system with non-resonant transducers and to explore the factors affecting the performance of such a system. A new type of TRA reverberators, such as water-filled thin-wall plastic vessels, which can be used with the submersible piezotransducers fixed internally in the reverberator, are proposed and tested. The experiments are conducted in a water tank with the walls and bottom covered by a sound absorbing lining. A needle hydrophone mounted on a 3D positioning system is used as a beacon for the TRA focusing and then for measuring the spatial distribution of the focused ultrasound field. The bandwidth and spatial distribution of the signal focused by the TRA system using a single channel with the resonant versus non-resonant transducers have been analyzed. Two types of non-resonant transducers were tested: a flat-concave transducer with a diameter of 30 mm, and a thickness varying from 2 mm in the center to 11 mm at the edge, and a specially designed submersible transducer having an uneven shape with a diameter of about 25 mm and a thickness varying from 2 to 6 mm. It was shown that TRA focusing system using non-resonant transducer had a bandwidth at 10 dB of 500 kHz while the resonant transducer provided about 100 kHz bandwidth. Correspondingly, the extended bandwidth of the TRA focusing system, especially toward higher frequencies, provides a 50% sharper spatial distribution. Furthermore, the relative level of the background ultrasound was reduced by a factor up to 3 as more frequencies were added coherently in focus and incoherently out of focus. Advantages of water-filled reverberators made of thin-wall plastic vessels include easy manufacturing, low costs, extreme simplicity, and good acoustical matching with soft tissues, important for biomedical applications.  相似文献

We study displacement and strain measurement error of dual transducers (two linear arrays, aligned orthogonally and coplanar). Displacements along the beam of each transducer are used to obtain measurements in two-dimensions. Simulations (5 MHz) and experiments (10 MHz) are compared to measurements with a single linear array, with and without angular compounding. Translation simulations demonstrate factors of 1.07 larger and 8.0 smaller biases in the axial and lateral directions respectively, for dual transducers compared to angular compounding. As the angle between dual transducers decreases from 90° to 40°, for 1% compression simulations, the lateral RMS error ranges from 2.1 to 3.9 μm compared to 9 μm with angular compounding. Simulation of dual transducer misalignment of 1 mm and 2° result in errors of less than 9 μm. Experiments demonstrate factors of 3.0 and 5.2 lower biases for dual transducers in the axial and lateral directions respectively compared to angular compounding.  相似文献

The requirements for high resolution, long range ISAR imaging systems capable of recognising targets have been outlined. Systems meeting these requirements and operating at mm-wavelengths have been proposed. The systems consist of N phased locked transmitters feeding as many antennas in phase. Quasi-optical power addition at the target occurs. In the receive mode all antennas are connected in phase. These systems can at least double the range obtained by utilising a system having one transmitter/antenna combination. Several realisation options have been studied including the annular synthesis antenna systems which offer some advantages over more conventional realisations.  相似文献

A new type of compound multifrequency ultrasonic transducer is analyzed in this paper. The compound multifrequency ultrasonic transducer consists of two sandwiched ultrasonic transducers and a rectangular radiator. In virtue of the coupling between longitudinal vibration of the sandwiched ultrasonic transducers and flexural vibration of the rectangular radiator, the compound multifrequency ultrasonic transducer can produce several resonance frequencies. Some compound multifrequency ultrasonic transducers are designed and simulated by finite element method (ANSYS), and modal shapes and harmonic response are analyzed. The compound multifrequency ultrasonic transducers are designed and manufactured. The resonance frequencies are measured and compared with the numerical results. The effect of the geometrical dimensions of the compound multifrequency ultrasonic transducer and the location of two sandwiched ultrasonic transducers on the compound multifrequency ultrasonic transducer is discussed. It is shown experimentally and numerically that the compound multifrequency ultrasonic transducer has several resonance frequencies.  相似文献

Ultrasonic transducers for pulse-echo systems are studied both theoretically and experimentally. For the theoretical calculations the Mason model for thickness-mode disc transducers with and without backing and matching layers is used. By building several of the theoretically investigated transducer configurations it is shown that theory and experiment agree well. Thus the properties of a transducer can be predicted to a good approximation before its experimental realization. To find transducers with good sensitivity and short pulses, the pulse shape and frequency response for the following classes of transducers were studied both theoretically and experimentally: transducers with backing only, transducers with heavy backing and front matching layers, and air-backed transducers with front matching layers.  相似文献
