The dynamics of spin 3/2 systems is analyzed using the density matrix theory of relaxation. By using the superoperator formalism, an algebraic formulation of the density matrix's evolution is obtained, in which the contributions from free relaxation and RF application are easily factored out. As an intermediate step, an exact form for the propagator of the density matrix for a spin 3/2 system, in the presence of static quadrupolar coupling, inhomogeneous static magnetic field, and relaxation is demonstrated. Using this algebraic formulation, exact expressions for the behavior of the density matrix in the classical one-, two-, and three-pulse experiments are derived. These theoretical formulas are then used to illustrate the bias introduced on the measured relaxation parameters by the presence of large spatial variations in the B0 and B1 fields. The theoretical predictions are easily evaluated through simple matrix algebra and the results agree very well with the experimental observations. This approach could prove useful for the characterization of the spatial variations of the signal intensity in multiple quantum-filtered sodium MRI experiments. 相似文献

In experiments on electron transport, the macroscopic inhomogeneities in the sample play a fundamental role. In this paper and a subsequent one, we introduce and develop a general formalism that captures the principal features of sample inhomogeneities (density gradients, contact misalignments) in the magnetoresistance data taken from low-mobility heterostructures. We present detailed assessments and experimental investigations of the different regimes of physical interest, notably the regime of semiclassical transport at weak magnetic fields, the plateau–plateau transitions as well as the plateau–insulator transition that generally occurs at much stronger values of the external field only.It is shown that the semiclassical regime at weak fields plays an integral role in the general understanding of the experiments on the quantum Hall regime. The results of this paper clearly indicate that the plateau–plateau transitions, unlike the plateau–insulator transition, are fundamentally affected by the presence of sample inhomogeneities. We propose a universal scaling result for the magnetoresistance parameters. This result facilitates, amongst many other things, a detailed understanding of the difficulties associated with the experimental methodology of H.P. Wei et al. in extracting the quantum critical behavior of the electron gas from the transport measurements conducted on the plateau–plateau transitions. 相似文献

This paper introduces the concept of imaging with stepped magnetic fields within the main B(0) field. The resonance frequency within each step is separated from the next by an amount greater than the imaging bandwidth. Each step thus gives rise to a separate imaging region enabling simultaneous imaging over multiple slices without aliasing. The auxiliary magnetic field regions are produced by coil inserts. The principle is illustrated using simple coil designs which introduce up to two steps into the main B(0) field. Phantoms placed in each uniform region were successfully imaged simultaneously with no aliasing. 相似文献

We have studied the color-suppressed hadronic decays of neutral B mesons into the final states D*0pi(0). Using 9.67 x 10(6) BB pairs collected with the CLEO detector, we observe the decays B( 0) --> D0pi(0) and B( 0) -->D(*0)pi(0) with the branching fractions BB( 0) -->D0pi(0)) = (2.74(+0.36)(-0.32) +/- 0.55)x10(-4) and BB( 0) -->D(*0)pi(0)) = (2.20(+0.59)(-0.52) +/- 0.79)x10(-4). The first error is statistical and the second systematic. The statistical significance of the D0pi(0) signal is 12.1sigma ( 5.9sigma for D(*0)pi(0)). Utilizing the B( 0) -->D*0)pi(0) branching fractions we determine the strong phases delta(I,D(*)) between isospin 1/2 and 3/2 amplitudes in the Dpi and D*pi final states to be cosdelta(I,D) = 0.89 +/-0.08 and cosdelta(I,D*) = 0.89 +/- 0.08, respectively. 相似文献

The origin of spin locking image artifacts in the presence of B(0) and B(1) magnetic field imperfections is shown theoretically using the Bloch equations and experimentally at low (omega(1) < Delta omega(0)), intermediate (omega(1) approximately Delta omega(0)) and high (omega(1) > Delta omega(0)) spin locking field strengths. At low spin locking fields, the magnetization is shown to oscillate about an effective field in the rotating frame causing signature banding artifacts in the image. At high spin lock fields, the effect of the resonance offset Deltao mega(0) is quenched, but imperfections in the flip angle cause oscillations about the omega(1) field. A new pulse sequence is presented that consists of an integrated spin echo and spin lock experiment followed by magnetization storage along the -z-axis. It is shown that this sequence almost entirely eliminates banding artifacts from both types of field inhomogeneities at all spin locking field strengths. The sequence was used to obtain artifact free images of agarose in inhomogeneous B(0) and B(1) fields, off-resonance spins in fat and in vivo human brain images at 3 T. The new pulse sequence can be used to probe very low frequency (0-400 Hz) dynamic and static interactions in tissues without contaminating B(0) and B(1) field artifacts. 相似文献

The utility of triple-quantum (TQ)-filtered (23)Na NMR spectroscopy for discriminating between intra- and extracellular Na(+)(Na(i)(+) and Na(e)(+), respectively) in a solid tumor in vivo was evaluated using TmDOTP(5-) as a (23)Na shift reagent. Infusion of 80 mM TmDOTP(5-) without added Ca(2+) produced baseline-resolved Na(i)(+) and Na(e)(+) peaks in both single-quantum (SQ) and TQ-filtered (23)Na spectra. The Na(i)(+) signal represented 22+/-4% of the SQ spectrum, but 59+/-10% of the TQ-filtered spectrum. Therefore, the Na(i)(+) contribution in TQ-filtered spectra is much higher than in SQ spectra. Both SQ and TQ-filtered Na(i)(+) signals increased by about 75% 1 h after sacrificing the animal. The TQ-filtered relaxation times did not change during this time, indicating that changes observed in TQ-filtered spectra collected with a preparation time of 3 ms represent changes in the concentration of sodium ions contributing to the TQ-filtered signal. Similar experiments were conducted without TmDOTP(5-) to determine changes in the Na(e)(+) signal in the absence of the shift reagent. The changes in total SQ and TQ-filtered signals 1 h after sacrificing the animal showed that the SQ Na(e)(+) signal decreased by approximately 35%, while the TQ-filtered Na(e)(+) signal did not change significantly. This demonstrates that the TQ-filtered (23)Na signal is relatively insensitive to changes in Na(e)(+) content. To our knowledge, this work represents the first evaluation of multiple-quantum-filtered (23)Na spectroscopy to discriminate between intra- and extracellular Na(+) in a solid tumor in vivo. 相似文献

We present a measurement of the B0-Bmacr;(0) mixing parameter Deltam(d) using neutral B meson pairs in a 29.1 fb(-1) data sample collected at the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e(+)e(-) collider. We exclusively reconstruct one neutral B meson in the semileptonic B0-->D(*-)l(+)nu decay mode and identify the flavor of the accompanying B meson from its decay products. From the distribution of the time intervals between the two flavor-tagged B meson decay points, we obtain Deltam(d)=(0.494+/-0.012+/-0.015) ps(-1), where the first error is statistical and the second error is systematic. 相似文献

We present an unquenched lattice calculation for the B(0)-B(0) transition amplitude. The calculation, carried out at an inverse lattice spacing 1/a=2.22(4) GeV, incorporates two flavors of dynamical quarks described by the O(a)-improved Wilson fermion action and heavy quarks described by nonrelativistic QCD. Particular attention is paid to the uncertainty that arises from the chiral extrapolation, especially the effect of pion loops, for light quarks, which we find could be sizable for the leptonic decay constant, whereas it is small for the B parameters. We obtain f(B(d))=191(10)(+12-22) MeV, f(B(s))/f(B(d))=1.13(3)(+13-2), B(B(d))(m(b))=0.836(27)(+56-62), B(B(s))/B(B(d))=1.017(16)(+56-17), and xi=1.14(3)(+13-2), where the first error is statistical, and the second is systematic, including uncertainties due to chiral extrapolation, finite lattice spacing, heavy quark expansion, and perturbative operator matching. 相似文献

A new method for acquiring MR data in two dimensions is described. This is achieved by combining coils into an array so as to produce a unique local magnetic field within each coil when placed within the B(0) field of a standard MRI scanner. In this way each known location of a coil is associated with a unique resonant frequency. Each coil now represents a location of a pixel in the plane, and after Fourier transformation of the signal the resulting frequency spectrum gives immediately the spin distribution in the plane of the array. In effect, the two-dimensional spatial distribution is frequency encoded without the use of switched gradients or phase encoding. As only static fields are used, this technique offers the potential of fast imaging. Furthermore, signals from different locations would also be inherently time-registered. Initial experiments to demonstrate the principle are described, using a square array of 5 by 5 coils. The currents in the coils were determined by using a genetic algorithm. Echoes from pellet phantoms placed in the array were acquired using standard spin-echo sequences with gradients switched off. The results are promising, with the spectra showing generally good resolution between peaks, enabling localisation in up to half the pixels. Technical difficulties are discussed and possible applications are outlined. 相似文献

We report the first observation of color-suppressed B( 0)-->D(0)pi(0), D(*0)pi(0), D0eta, and D0omega decays, and evidence for B( 0)-->D(*0)eta and D(*0)omega. The branching fractions are B(B( 0)-->D0pi(0)) = (3.1 +/- 0.4 +/- 0.5)x10(-4), B(B( 0) -->D(*0)pi(0)) = (2.7(+0.8+0.5)(-0.7-0.6))x10(-4), B(B( 0) --> D0eta) = (1.4(+0.5)(-0.4) +/- 0.3)x10(-4), B(B( 0) --> D0omega) = (1.8 +/- 0.5(+0.4)(-0.3))x10(-4), and we set 90% confidence level upper limits of B(B( 0) --> D(*0)eta)<4.6 x 10(-4) and B(B( 0)-->D(*0)omega)<7.9 x 10(-4). The analysis is based on a data sample of 21.3 fb(-1) collected at the Upsilon(4S) resonance by the Belle detector at the KEKB e(+)e(-) collider. 相似文献

We present a measurement of CP-violation parameters in the B0 --> K(s)0K(s)0K(s)0 decay based on a sample of 275 x 10(6) BB pairs collected at the upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB energy-asymmetric e+e- collider. In this work, we present the first triple quantum filtered (TQF) sodium MR images of the human knee joint in vivo. A 3D TQF data set of 16 slices was obtained in 20 min using a TQF pulse sequence preencoded to a twisted projection imaging readout. Images clearly demarcate patellar cartilage and also demonstrate fluid signal suppressed by the triple quantum filter. Biexponential transverse relaxation times were calculated by fitting the TQF free induction decay to a theoretical signal expression. The average values from three healthy volunteers were T(2fall)(*) = 9.59 +/- 0.35 ms and T(2rise)(*) = 0.84 +/- 0.06 ms. Application of TQF imaging in biological tissues is discussed. 相似文献

The focus of this study is on the adsorption of organic molecules onto steps on Si(1 0 0) and acetylene has been chosen as a show-case example. The study is based on a time-dependent quantum mechanical method and is divided into two parts. The first part has a methodological meaning and illustrates the dynamical events occurring when the molecule impinges onto the flat Si(1 0 0) surface. The second part analyzes preferred adsorption sites at steps, which are evaluated under stationary conditions from the minimization of the total energy. Adsorption-desorption events at those sites are analyzed considering temperature-activated motions obtained from the time-dependent representation. The simulation method is based on two Hamiltonians, i.e., semiempirical Hartree-Fock and Density Functional, and uses a cluster to model the exposed surface. Divergences and similarities of the properties of steps with respect to properties of the flat surface, as reported in the literature or obtained from this study, are analyzed and discussed. 相似文献

We present a new measurement of CP-violation parameters in B(0)-->K(0)(S)pi(0)gamma decay based on a sample of 275 x 10(6) BB pairs collected at the Gamma(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB energy-asymmetric e(+)e(-) collider. One of the B mesons is fully reconstructed in the B(0)-->K(0)(S)pi(0)gamma decay. The flavor of the accompanying B meson is identified from its decay products. CP-violation parameters are obtained from the asymmetry in the distribution of the proper time intervals between the two B decays. We obtain SK(0)(S)(pi(0)gamma) = -0.58(+0.46)(-0.38)(stat) +/- 0.11(syst) and AK(0)(S)(pi(0)gamma) = +0.03 +/- 0.34(stat) +/- 0.11(syst), for the K(0)(S)pi(0) invariant mass covering the full range up to 1.8 GeV/c2. We also measure the CP-violation parameters for the case B(0)-->K(*0)(-->K(0)(S)pi(0))gamma and obtain S(K(*0)gamma) = -0.79(+0.63)(-0.50)(stat) +/- 0.10(syst) for A(K(*0)gamma) fixed at 0. 相似文献

We have measured the charge asymmetry in like-sign dilepton yields from B(0)B*(0) meson decays using the CLEO detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring. We find a(0)(ll) identical with[N(l(+)l(+))-N(l(-)l(-))]/[N(l(+)l(+))+N(l(-)l(-))] = +0.013+/-0.050+/-0.005. We combine this result with a previous, independent measurement and obtain Re(epsilon(B))/(1+ the absolute value of epsilon(B)(2)) = +0.0035+/-0.0103+/-0.0015 (uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively) for the CP impurity parameter, epsilon(B). 相似文献
