The convergence rate of a numerical procedure based on Schwarz Alternating Method (SAM) for solving elliptic boundary value problems (BVP’s) depends on the selection of the interface conditions applied on the interior boundaries of the overlapping subdomains. It has been observed that theRobin condition(mixed interface condition), controlled by a parameter, can optimize SAM’s convergence rate. Since the convergence rate is very sensitive to the parameter, Tang[17] suggested another interface condition calledover- determined interface condition. Based on the over-determined interface condition, we formulate thetwo-layer multi-parameterized SAM. For the SAM and the one-dimensional elliptic model BVP’s, we determine analytically the optimal values of the parameters. For the two-dimensional elliptic BVP’s, we also formulate the two-layer multiparameterized SAM and suggest a choice of multi-parameter to produce good convergence rate.  相似文献

Functions in Hardy spaces on multiply-connected domains in the plane are given an explicit characterization in terms of a boundary condition inspired by the two-dimensional Ising model. The key underlying property is the positivity of a certain operator constructed inductively on the number of components of the boundary.  相似文献

We establish the existence of solutions for a class of quasilinear degenerate elliptic equations. The equations in this class satisfy a structure condition which provides ellipticity in the interior of the domain, and degeneracy only on the boundary. Equations of transonic gas dynamics, for example, satisfy this property in the region of subsonic flow and are degenerate across the sonic surface. We prove that the solution is smooth in the interior of the domain but may exhibit singular behavior at the degenerate boundary. The maximal rate of blow-up at the degenerate boundary is bounded by the “degree of degeneracy” in the principal coefficients of the quasilinear elliptic operator. Our methods and results apply to the problems recently studied by several authors which include the unsteady transonic small disturbance equation, the pressure-gradient equations of the compressible Euler equations, and the singular quasilinear anisotropic elliptic problems, and extend to the class of equations which satisfy the structure condition, such as the shallow water equation, compressible isentropic two-dimensional Euler equations, and general two-dimensional nonlinear wave equations. Our study provides a general framework to analyze degenerate elliptic problems arising in the self-similar reduction of a broad class of two-dimensional Cauchy problems.  相似文献

We study Pesenti-Szpiro inequality in the case of elliptic curves over Fq(t) which occur as subvarieties of Jacobian varieties of Drinfeld modular curves. In general, we obtain an upper-bound on the degrees of minimal discriminants of such elliptic curves in terms of the degrees of their conductors and q. In the special case when the level is prime, we bound the degrees of discriminants only in terms of the degrees of conductors. As a preliminary step in the proof of this latter result we generalize a construction (due to Gekeler and Reversat) of 1-dimensional optimal quotients of Drinfeld Jacobians.  相似文献

Let E be an elliptic curve defined over Q and PE(Q) a rational point of infinite order. Suppose that E has complex multiplication by an order in the imaginary quadratic field k. Denote by ME,P the set of rational primes ? such that ? splits in k, E has good reduction at ?, and P is a primitive point modulo ?. Under the generalized Riemann hypothesis, we can determine the positivity of the density of the set ME,P explicitly.  相似文献

We study boundary value problems posed in a semistrip for the elliptic sine-Gordon equation, which is the paradigm of an elliptic integrable PDE in two variables. We use the method introduced by one of the authors, which provides a substantial generalization of the inverse scattering transform and can be used for the analysis of boundary as opposed to initial-value problems. We first express the solution in terms of a 2×2 matrix Riemann–Hilbert problem whose “jump matrix” depends on both the Dirichlet and the Neumann boundary values. For a well posed problem one of these boundary values is an unknown function. This unknown function is characterised in terms of the so-called global relation, but in general this characterisation is nonlinear. We then concentrate on the case that the prescribed boundary conditions are zero along the unbounded sides of a semistrip and constant along the bounded side. This corresponds to a case of the so-called linearisable boundary conditions, however, a major difficulty for this problem is the existence of non-integrable singularities of the function q y at the two corners of the semistrip; these singularities are generated by the discontinuities of the boundary condition at these corners. Motivated by the recent solution of the analogous problem for the modified Helmholtz equation, we introduce an appropriate regularisation which overcomes this difficulty. Furthermore, by mapping the basic Riemann–Hilbert problem to an equivalent modified Riemann–Hilbert problem, we show that the solution can be expressed in terms of a 2×2 matrix Riemann–Hilbert problem whose “jump matrix” depends explicitly on the width of the semistrip L, on the constant value d of the solution along the bounded side, and on the residues at the given poles of a certain spectral function denoted by h(λ). The determination of the function h remains open.  相似文献

In this paper, we obtain an unconditional density theorem concerning the low-lying zeros of Hasse-Weil L-functions for a family of elliptic curves. From this together with the Riemann hypothesis for these L-functions, we infer the majorant of 27/14 (which is strictly less than 2) for the average rank of the elliptic curves in the family under consideration. This upper bound for the average rank enables us to deduce that, under the same assumption, a positive proportion of elliptic curves have algebraic ranks equaling their analytic ranks and finite Tate-Shafarevich group. Statements of this flavor were known previously [M.P. Young, Low-lying zeros of families of elliptic curves, J. Amer. Math. Soc. 19 (1) (2005) 205-250] under the additional assumptions of GRH for Dirichlet L-functions and symmetric square L-functions which are removed in the present paper.  相似文献

In this paper, we analyze the behavior of a family of solutions of a nonlinear elliptic equation with nonlinear boundary conditions, when the boundary of the domain presents a highly oscillatory behavior, which is uniformly Lipschitz and nonlinear terms, are concentrated in a region, which neighbors the boundary of domain. We prove that this family of solutions converges to the solutions of a limit problem in H1an elliptic equation with nonlinear boundary conditions which captures the oscillatory behavior of the boundary and whose nonlinear terms are transformed into a flux condition on the boundary. Indeed, we show the upper semicontinuity of this family of solutions.Copyright © 2015 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with a class of fourth-order nonlinear elliptic equations with nonlocal boundary conditions, including a multi-point boundary condition in a bounded domain of Rn. Also considered is a second-order elliptic equation with nonlocal boundary condition, and the usual multi-point boundary problem in ordinary differential equations. The aim of the paper is to show the existence of maximal and minimal solutions, the uniqueness of a positive solution, and the method of construction for these solutions. Our approach to the above problems is by the method of upper and lower solutions and its associated monotone iterations. The monotone iterative schemes can be developed into computational algorithms for numerical solutions of the problem by either the finite difference method or the finite element method.  相似文献

The results by Palagachev (2009) [3] regarding global Hölder continuity for the weak solutions to quasilinear divergence form elliptic equations are generalized to the case of nonlinear terms with optimal growths with respect to the unknown function and its gradient. Moreover, the principal coefficients are discontinuous with discontinuity measured in terms of small BMO norms and the underlying domain is supposed to have fractal boundary satisfying a condition of Reifenberg flatness. The results are extended to the case of parabolic operators as well.  相似文献

This paper considers the problem of finding positive vector-valued solutions U of the nonlinear elliptic boundary value problem L(U) + f(x, U) = 0 on a bounded region Ω, U + ?U?v = 0 on ?Ω. The operator L is uniformly elliptic and in divergence form, and f is, roughly speaking, superlinear; by the positivity of U is meant the positivity of each component of U on Ω. Under certain growth conditions on f and some further technical assumptions, the existence of a positive solution is proved, an a priori bound on all positive solutions is obtained, and a certain fixed point index is proved equal to ? 1. As an example, information about fixed point indices is used to allow perturbations of the form ?h(x, U, DU). In the final section, an essentially best possible theorem is given for Ω a ball and for radially symmetric solutions of the Laplacian with Dirichlet boundary conditions.  相似文献

Iterative method for the solution of discretized elliptic boundary value problem with imperfect contact condition on an internal boundary is constructed. It is proved that the method is robust with respect to the coefficient K appearing in the imperfect contact condition, i.e., its convergence rate is independent of the coefficient K. Numerical tests confirming the theoretical result are presented.  相似文献

We study parametric nonlinear elliptic boundary value problems driven by the p-Laplacian with convex and concave terms. The convex term appears in the reaction and the concave in the boundary condition (source). We study the existence and nonexistence of positive solutions as the parameter λ > 0 varies. For the semilinear problem (p = 2), we prove a bifurcation type result. Finally, we show the existence of nodal (sign changing) solutions.  相似文献

We develop a theory for Eisenstein series to the septic base, which was started by S. Ramanujan in his “Lost Notebook.” We show that two types of septic Eisenstein series may be parameterized in terms of the septic theta function and the eta quotient η4(7τ)/η4(τ). This is accomplished by constructing elliptic functions which have the septic Eisenstein series as Taylor coefficients. The elliptic functions are shown to be solutions of a differential equation, and this leads to a recurrence relation for the septic Eisenstein series.  相似文献

Conjecturally, the parity of the Mordell-Weil rank of an elliptic curve over a number field K is determined by its root number. The root number is a product of local root numbers, so the rank modulo 2 is (conjecturally) the sum over all places of K of a function of elliptic curves over local fields. This note shows that there can be no analogue for the rank modulo 3, 4 or 5, or for the rank itself. In fact, standard conjectures for elliptic curves imply that there is no analogue modulo n for any n>2, so this is purely a parity phenomenon.  相似文献

In this paper we introduce an elliptic analogue of the generalized Dedekind-Rademacher sums which satisfy reciprocity laws. In these sums, Kronecker's double series play a role of elliptic Bernoulli functions. This paper gives an answer to the problem of S. Fukuhara and N. Yui concerning the elliptic Apostol-Dedekind sums. We also mention a relation between the generating function of Kronecker's double series and that of the (Debye) elliptic polylogarithms studied by A. Levin.  相似文献

In this paper we characterize the existence of principal eigenvalues for a general class of linear weighted second order elliptic boundary value problems subject to a very general class of mixed boundary conditions. Our theory is a substantial extension of the classical theory by P. Hess and T. Kato (1980, Comm. Partial Differential Equations5, 999-1030). In obtaining our main results we must give a number of new results on the continuous dependence of the principal eigenvalue of a second order linear elliptic boundary value problem with respect to the underlying domain and the boundary condition itself. These auxiliary results complement and in some sense complete the theory of D. Daners and E. N. Dancer (1997, J. Differential Equations138, 86-132). The main technical tool used throughout this paper is a very recent characterization of the strong maximum principle in terms of the existence of a positive strict supersolution due to H. Amann and J. López-Gómez (1998, J. Differential Equations146, 336-374).  相似文献

In this paper we consider the existence of positive solution for some semilinear elliptic equations with Neumann boundary condition involving a critical Hardy–Sobolev exponent and Hardy terms with boundary singularities. Using mountain pass lemma without (PS) condition and the strong maximum principle, we get the existence of a positive solution.  相似文献

We present certain norm-compatible systems in K2 of function fields of some CM elliptic curves. We demonstrate that these systems have some properties similar to elliptic units.  相似文献

In a Hilbert space H, we study the solvability of boundary value problems for second-order elliptic differential-operator equations with a spectral parameter and with a discontinuous (piecewise constant) coefficient at the highest derivative. At the point of discontinuity, we find a transmission condition, which contains a linear unbounded operator. We present an application of the results to elliptic boundary value problems.  相似文献
