A method for the preconcentration and speciation of chromium was developed. After formation of an anionic compound with ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (CrY(-)), Cr (VI) and Cr (III) are retained on a strong anionic phase (SAX) and controlled elution with 0.5 M NaCl permits their speciation. The retention and elution conditions were optimised, and interferences due to the presence of other ions such as Mg(II), Mn(II), Sn(II), Fe(III), Ba(II), Al(III), Ca(II), chloride, iodine, bromide, fluoride, sulphate, phosphate, bicarbonate and nitrate were studied. The detection limits were 0.4 mug l(-1) and 1.1 mug l(-1) for Cr(III) and Cr(VI), respectively, and reproducibility was 9%. The results obtained for speciation of chromium by the proposed method in wastewaters are in agreement with the values obtained by a reference method for a 95% confidence level.  相似文献

A sensitive method for the simultaneous determination of chromium(III) (Cr3+) and chromium(VI) (CrO4(2-)) using in-capillary reaction, capillary electrophoresis (CE) separation and chemiluminescence (CL) detection was developed. The chemiluminescence reaction was based on luminol oxidation by hydrogen peroxide in basic aqueous solution catalyzed by Cr3+ ion followed by capillary electrophoresis separation. Based on in-capillary reduction, chromium(VI) can be reduced by acidic sodium hydrogensulfite to form chromium(III) while the sample is running through the capillary. Before the electrophoresis procedure, the sample (Cr3+ and CrO4(2-)), buffer and acidic sodium hydrogensulfite solution segments were injected in that order into the capillary, followed by application of an appropriate running voltage between both ends. As both chromium species have opposite charges, Cr3+ ions migrate to the cathode, while CrO4(2-) ions, moving in the opposite direction toward the anode, react with acidic sodium hydrogensulfite which results in the formation of Cr3+ ions. Because of the migration time difference of both Cr3+ ions, Cr(III) and Cr(VI) could be separated. The running buffer was composed of 0.02 mol l(-1) acetate buffer (pH 4.7) with 1 x 10(-3) mol l(-1) EDTA. Parameters affecting CE-CL separation and detection, such as reductant (sodium hydrogensulfite) concentration, mixing mode of the analytes with CL reagent, CL reaction reagent pH and concentration, were optimized. The limits of detection (LODs) of Cr(III) and Cr(VI) were 6 x 10(-13) and 8 x 10(-12) mol l(-1) (S/N=3), respectively. The mass LODs for Cr(III) and Cr(VI) were 1.2 x 10(-20) mol (12 zmol) and 3.8 x 10(-19) mol (380 zmol), respectively.  相似文献

The construction and performance characteristics of a novel chromate ion-selective membrane sensor are described and used for determining chromium(III) and chromium(VI) ions. The sensor is based on the use of a rhodamine-B chromate ion-associate complex as an electroactive material in a poly(vinyl chloride) membrane plasticized with o-nitrophenyloctyl ether as a solvent mediator. In a phosphate buffer solution of pH 6 - 7, the sensor displays a stable, reproducible and linear potential response over the concentration range of 1 x 10(-1) - 5 x 10(-6) mol l(-1) with an anionic Nernstian slope of 30.8 +/- 0.5 mV decade(-1) and a detection limit of 1 x 10(-6) mol l(-1) Cr(VI). High selectivity for Cr(VI) is offered over many common anions (e.g., I-, Br-, Cl-, IO4-, CN-, acetate, oxalate, citrate, sulfate, phosphate, thiosulfate, selenite, nitrate) and cations (e.g., Ag+, Ca2+, Sr2+, Co2+, Ni2+, Cu2+, Mn2+, Fe2+, Zn2+, Cd2+, Al3+, Cr3+). The sensor is used for determining Cr(VI) and/or Cr(III) ions in separate or mixed solutions after the oxidation of Cr(III) into Cr(VI) with H2O2. As low as 0.2 microg ml(-1) of chromium is determined with a precision of +/-1.2%. The chromium contents of some wastewater samples were accurately assessed, and the results agreed fairly well with data obtained by atomic absorption spectrometry.  相似文献

Sampling and analytical techniques used for determining trace metal concentrations in atmospheric precipitation waters collected in Hungary are presented. The results of the analyses are briefly discussed and special attention is devoted to chromium speciation. For the preconcentration of the trace metals a chelating cellulose, iminodiacetic acid ethylcellulose (IDAEC) microcolumn was used in a flow-injected system. Cd, Co, Cu, Fe, Mn, Ni, Pb, Ti, V and Zn were determined by ICP-AES. In precipitation water the concentrations of the trace elements were in the 0.1-50 mug/l. range. The two forms of chromium, Cr(III) and Cr(VI) were separated using IDAEC and the anion exchanger diethylamine ethylcellulose, respectively. Cr was determined by GFAAS. In atmospheric precipitation the concentration of Cr(III) was in the range of 0.1-0.4 mug/l. while that of Cr(VI) in the range of 0.04-0.1 mug/l.  相似文献

We present a method for the speciation of chromium by capillary electrophoresis. Cr(III) was complexed with diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid (DTPA) to form a negatively charged complex. Using 20 mM phosphate buffer of pH 8 containing 0.5 mM tetradecyltrimethylammonium hydroxide (TTAOH) at a separation voltage of -15 kV, both forms of chromium CrDTPA(2-) and CrO(4) (2-) were separated in less than 6 min. Direct UV detection at 214 nm was used. The effect of the presence of interfering ions was investigated. The application of the developed method to speciation of chromium in tanning liquor is demonstrated. The obtained results have shown a good correlation with those of flame atomic absorbance spectrometry (FAAS), inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) and UV/VIS spectrophotometry.  相似文献

A two-channel switching valve is incorporated in the flow-injection manifold for on-line control of the metal speciation of Fe(II)/Fe(III) and Cr(III)/Cr(VI). 1,10-Phenanthroline is used for the iron determinations and diphenylcarbazide for chromium. The absorbances are measured at 512 and 540 nm, respectively. When a 30-mul injection loop is used, the response is linear for 0.5-30.0 ppm Fe and 0.5-40.0 ppm Cr. The relative standard deviation in each case is approximately 1%. The method allows at least 180 injections per hour.  相似文献

Cloud point extraction (CPE) was applied as a preconcentration step for HPLC speciation of chromium in aqueous solutions. Simultaneous preconcentration of Cr(III) and Cr(VI) in aqueous solutions was achieved by CPE with diethyldithiocarbamate (DDTC) as the chelating agent and Triton X-114 as the extractant. Baseline separation of the DDTC chelates of Cr(III) and Cr(VI) was realized on a RP-C18 column with the use of a mixture of methanol-water-acetonitrile (65:21:14, v/v) buffered with 0.05 M NaAc-HAc solution (pH 3.6) as the mobile phase at a flow rate of 1.0 ml min(-1). The precision (R.S.D.) for eight replicate injections of a mixture of 100 microg l(-1) of Cr(III) and Cr(VI) were 0.6 and 0.5% for the retention time, 4.1 and 4.6% for the peak area measurement, respectively. The concentration factor, which is defined as the concentration ratio of the analyte in the final diluted surfactant-rich extract ready for HPLC separation and in the initial solution, was 65 for Cr(III) and 19 for Cr(VI). The linear concentration range was from 50 to 1000 microg l(-1) for Cr(III) and 50-2000 microg l(-1) for Cr(VI). The detection limits of Cr(III) and Cr(VI) were 3.4 and 5.2 microg l(-1), respectively. The developed method was applied to the speciation of Cr(III) and Cr(VI) in snow water, river water, seawater and wastewater samples.  相似文献

Crosslinked chitosan-bound FeC nanoparticles (CCBFeCNP) were prepared, and the adsorptive behavior of Cr(III) and Cr(VI) on CCBFeCNP were assessed. At pH 6.0–10.0, CCBFeCNP is selective towards Cr(III) but hardly selective towards Cr(VI). The retained Cr(III) is subsequently eluted with 0.5 mol L−1 HCl. Total chromium is determined after reduction of Cr(VI) to Cr(III) by ascorbic acid. A new method of flow injection using a micro-column packed with CCBFeCNP as solid phase extractant has been developed for speciation of Cr(III) and Cr(VI) in water samples, followed by flame atomic absorption spectrometry. The effects of pH, sample flow rate and volume, elution solution and interfering ions on the recoveries of Cr(III) were systematically investigated. Under optimum conditions, the adsorption capacity of CCBFeCNP for Cr(III) is 10.5 mg g−1 at pH 7.5. The procedure presented was applied to chromium speciation in water samples, and the results were satisfactory.  相似文献

Dissolved chromium(III) and (VI) are coprecipitated separately from sea water, and chromium in the precipitates and particulate matter is determined by thin-film x-ray fluorescence spectrometry. In combination with an ultraviolet irradiation procedure whch releases bound metals, the method provides information about the speciation of chromium in near-shore surface sea water. The ratios of labile Cr(III)/(IIO+VI) generally lie in a narrow range (0.4–0.5) as do the sums of labile Cr(III) and (VI) concentrations (0.3–0.6 μg l?1). Bound chromium is variable (0–3 μg l?1) and constitutes from 0 to 90% of total dissolved chromium. Acidification of the samples in the traditional manner for trace metal determination is shown to alter the proportion of Cr(III) to Cr(VI).  相似文献

A selective, simple and fast dispersive micro solid phase extraction method using magnetic graphene oxide (GO) as an efficient sorbent has been developed for the extraction, separation and speciation analysis of chromium ions. The method is based on different adsorption behaviour of Cr(VI) and Cr(III) species onto magnetic GO in aqueous solutions which allowed the selective separation and extraction of Cr(VI) in the pH range of 2.0–3.0. The retained Cr(VI) ions by the sorbent were eluted using 0.5 mL of 0.5 mol L?1 nitric acid solution in methanol and determined by ?ame atomic absorption spectrometry. Total chromium content was determined after the oxidation of Cr(III) to Cr(VI) by potassium permanganate. All effective parameters on the performance of the extraction process were thoroughly investigated and optimised. Under the optimised conditions, the method exhibited a linear dynamic range of 0.5–50.0 µg L?1 with a detection limit of 0.1 µg L?1 and pre-concentration factor of 200. The relative standard deviations of 3.8% and 4.6% (n = 8) were obtained at 25.0 µg L?1 level of Cr(VI) for intra- and inter-day analysis, respectively. The method was successfully applied to the speciation and determination of Cr(VI) and Cr(III) in environmental water samples.  相似文献

A method was developed for high-throughput speciation analysis of chromium by on-line coupling of short-column capillary electrophoresis (SC-CE) and inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). Baseline separation of Cr(III) and Cr(VI) was achieved within 1 min by SC-CE in a 15 cm x 75 microm id fused-silica capillary at 6 kV using 15 mM HNO(3) as running electrolyte. The precisions (RSD, n = 5) of migration time and peak area for Cr(III) and Cr(VI) were in the range of 1.8-2.4% and 2.2-5.7%, respectively. The limits of detection (3sigma) of Cr(III) and Cr(VI) were 1.8 and 1.9 microg/L, respectively. The synthesized samples containing Cr(III) and Cr(VI) species were determined by the developed SC-CE-ICP-MS hyphenated technique, and the recoveries of Cr(III) and Cr(VI) in the synthesized samples were in the range of 103-110% and 90-108%, respectively.  相似文献

Summary A new colour reaction for the detection of cerram(IV) which can be carried out both in a test tube and on a spot plate has been described. The test solution is treated with methylene blue in nitric acid solution (11) to form a rose-red colour. This simple procedure has an advantage over the existing tests in that it is applicable in the presence of oxidising agents like chromium(VI), vanadium(V), nitrate, perchlorate and of coloured ions like copper(II), cobalt(II), nickel(II), chromium(III), iron(III), vanadium(IV), uranium(VI).

A new chromium(III)-imprinted 3-(2-aminoethylamino) propyltrimethoxysilane (AAPTS)-functionalized silica gel sorbent was synthesized by a surface imprinting technique and was employed as a selective solid-phase extraction material for speciation analysis of chromium in environmental water samples prior to its determination by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). The prepared Cr(III)-imprinted silica gel shows the selectivity coefficient of more than 700 for Cr(III) in the presence of Mn(II). The static adsorption capacity of the ion-imprinted and non-imprinted sorbent for Cr(III) were 30.5 mg g(-1) and 13.4 mg g(-1). It was also found that Cr(VI) could be adsorbed at low pH by the prepared imprinted silica gel, and this finding makes it feasible to enrich and determine Cr(VI) at low pH without adding reducing reagents. The imprinted silica gel sorbent offered a fast kinetics for the adsorption and desorption of both chromium species. Under the optimized conditions, the detection limits of 4.43 pg mL(-1) and 8.30 pg mL(-1) with the relative standard deviations (R.S.D.s) of 4.44% and 4.41% (C=0.5 ng mL(-1), n=7) for Cr(III) and Cr(VI) were obtained, respectively. The proposed method was successfully applied to the speciation of trace chromium in environmental water samples. To validate the proposed method, two certified reference materials were analyzed and the determined values were in a good agreement with the certified values. The developed method is rapid, selective, sensitive and applicable for the speciation of trace chromium in environmental water samples.  相似文献

A simple speciation, separation and enrichment method has been developed for the determination of Cr(III) and Cr(VI) ions in different samples by ion-pair solvent extraction with a β-diketone ligand, 2-(4-methoxybenzoyl)-N′-benzylidene-3-(4-methoxyphenyl)-3-oxo-N-phenyl-propono hydrazide (MBMP). Cr(III) was separated from Cr(VI) as Cr(III)-(MBMP)-perchlorate ternary ion-pair complex. The influences of various analytical parameters including pH, amount of reagent, shaking time, sample volume and ionic strength on the recovery of Cr(III) and/or Cr(VI) were investigated. Total chromium was obtained after reducing Cr(VI) to Cr(III) with NH2OH?·?HCl. Recoveries were found to be higher than 95% and the relative standard deviation (RSD) was less than 2%. The method detection limit based on 3σ criterion for Cr(III) was found to be 0.32?µg?L?1. The formed ternary ion-pair complex, Cr(III)?:?MBMP?:?2ClO4, has a molar ratio of 1?:?1?:?2. The developed method has been applied successfully to the speciation of chromium in various natural water, soil, sediment and hair samples with satisfactory results.  相似文献

Summary The pyrolysed graphite L'vov platform of a tube furnace is considered as an electrode for the electrodeposition and speciation of chromium by electrothermal atomisation atomic absorption spectrometry (ETA-AAS). Firstly, a preliminary study of the Cr(VI)/Cr(III) voltammetric behavior at pH 4.70 on a glassy-carbon electrode is carried out. Secondly, the L'vov platform is used as a cathodic macro-electrode for the selective preconcentration of Cr(VI)/Cr(III) on a mercury film. Speciation of Cr(VI)/Cr(III) is carried out on the basis of the electrolysis potential (Ee): at pH 4.70 and Ee=–0.30 V, only Cr(VI) is reduced to Cr(III) and accumulated as Cr(OH)3 by adsorption on a mercury film; at Ee=–1.80 V both Cr(VI) and Cr(III) are accumulated forming an amalgam with added mercury(II) ions. Once the film has been formed, the platform is transferred to a graphite tube to atomise the element. The reliability of the method was tested for the speciation of chromium in natural waters and it proves to be highly sensitive thanks to the electroanalytical step. In all samples, the Cr(VI) concentration was less than the detection limit (0.15 ng ml–1), and the concentration of Cr(III) agrees with those of total chromium. The analytical recovery of Cr(VI) added to water samples [3.50 ng ml–1 of Cr(VI)] was 105±6.2%.  相似文献

A method for the preconcentration and speciation of chromium in seawater was developed. On-line preconcentration and determination were carried out by using inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-AES) with dual mini-columns containing a chelating resin. In this system, Cr(III) was collected on the first column. The effluent containing residual chromium from the first column was collected on the second column after passing through a reduction-switching unit, in which the reducing agent was introduced, or not, for the reduction of Cr(VI) to Cr(lII). Cr(VI) was determined as the difference between the concentration of pre-reduced Cr(VI) and Cr(III) in the effluent from the first column. The detection limits for Cr(III) and Cr(VI) were 0.04 and 0.09 microg l(-1), respectively.  相似文献

An inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometric (ICP-AES) method was developed for speciation and simultaneous determination of Cr and As, since these two analytes are commonly determined in various water samples in order to assess their toxicity. The objective of this research was to study the speciation of Cr(III), Cr(VI) in the presence of As(III) and/or As(V) using solid phase extraction (SPE) and ICP-AES. For these measurements, four spectral lines were used for each analyte with the purpose of selecting the most appropriate for each element. Finally with the use for first time of a cation-exchange column filled with benzosulfonic acid and elution with HCl, the speciation in solutions which contained [Cr(III)?+?Cr(VI)?+?As(V)] and [Cr(III)?+?Cr(VI)?+?As(III)] was examined. It was demonstrated that the separation of the two chromium species is almost quantitative and the simultaneous determination of chromium species and total arsenic analytes is possible, with very good performance characteristics. The estimated limits of detection for Cr(III), Cr(VI), As(III) and/or As(V) were 0.9?µg?L?1, 1.1 µg?L?1, 4.7 µg?L?1 and 4.5 µg?L?1 respectively, the calculated relative standard deviations (RSDs) were 3.8%, 4.1%, 5.2% and 5.1% respectively, and finally the accuracy of the methods was estimated using a certified aqueous reference material and found to be 5.6% and 4.8% for Cr(III) and Cr(VI) respectively. The method was applied to the routine analysis of various water samples.  相似文献

A speciation procedure has been established for the flame atomic absorption spectrometric determination of Cr(III) and Cr(VI) based on coprecipitation of Cr(III) by using praseodymium(III) hydroxide (Pr(OH)3) precipitate. In the presented system, Cr(III) was quantitatively (>95%) recovered at the pH range of 10.0?C12.0 on Pr(III) hydroxide, while the recoveries of Cr(VI) were below 10%. The method was applied to the determination of the total chromium after reduction of Cr(VI) to Cr(III) by using hydroxylamine hydrochloride. The concentration of Cr(VI) is calculated by difference of total chromium and Cr(III) levels. The analytical parameters including pH of the aqueous medium, amount of Pr(III), centrifugation speed, sample volume were optimized. The influences of matrix ions were also investigated. The method was validated by the analysis of TMDA 70 fortified lake water certified reference material. The method was applied to the speciation of chromium in water samples.  相似文献

A simultaneous determination with UV detection/capillary electrophoresis for Fe(II) and Fe(III) was achieved using a sulfonated bathophenantholine and desfferioxamine B. When the electrophoretic buffer was 60 mmol l(-1) SDS, 10 mmol l(-1) acetic acid (pH 4.0) and 10 mmol l(-1) ascorbic acid and at -10 kV, the iron(II) and iron(III) could not only be completely separated, but also be sensitively determined.  相似文献
