Ag/TiO2 photocatalytic films were produced by hybrid sol-gel method. The photocatalytic degradation of methyl orange (MO) in aqueous solution under 365 nm irradiation on TiO2 and Ag/TiO2 thin films was investigated. The state and amount of Ag species within the film and the enhancement mechanism of photocatalytic activity of Ag/TiO2 were discussed. With a loading molar ratio of Ag/Ti = 0.135 in TiO2 film, the maximum catalytic efficiency was observed. __________ Translated from Journal of Beijing Normal University (Natural Sciences), 2005, 41(6) (in Chinese)  相似文献

Ag–TiO2 nanorods were synthesized via gel–sol methods. Cyclic voltammetry results showed that surface modification of TiO2 nanorods using Ag led better electrochemical activity involving fast electron transfer to electrode. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy results revealed that the increase in aspect ratio of TiO2 nanorods and surface modification resulted in synergetic effect of reduction of e?/h+ recombination and charge transfer resistance. Consequently the use of Ag–TiO2 nanorods as photocatalysts exhibited significant increase in photocatalytic decomposition rate of acid red 44.  相似文献

Novel visible-light-activated photocatalytic Ag/InVO4-TiO2 thin films were developed in this paper through a sol-gel method from the TiO2 sol containing Ag and InVO4. The photocatalytic activities of Ag/InVO4-TiO2 thin films were investigated based on the oxidation decomposition of methyl orange in aqueous solution. The Ag/InVO4-TiO2 thin films were characterized by X-Ray diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and UV-vis absorption spectroscopy (UV-vis). The results revealed that the Ag/InVO4-TiO2 thin films extended the light absorption spectrum toward the visible region; the Ag and InVO4 co-doped thin films significantly enhanced the methyl orange photodegradation under visible light irradiation. It has been confirmed that the Ag/InVO4-TiO2 thin films could be excited by visible light (E < 3.2 eV). The significant enhancement in the Ag/InVO4-TiO2 photo activity under visible light irradiation can be ascribed to the simultaneous effects of doped noble metal Ag by acting as electron traps and InVO4 as narrow band gap sensitizer.  相似文献

The thin films of TiO2 doped by Sn or Nb were prepared by sol–gel method under process control. The effects of Sn and Nb doping on the structural, optical and photo-catalytic properties of applied thin films have been studied by X-ray diffraction (XRD) high resolution transmission electron microscopy and UV–Vis absorption spectroscopy. Surface chemical state of thin films was examined by atomic X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. XRD results suggest that adding impurities has a great effect on the crystallinity and particle size of TiO2. Titania rutile phase formation in thin film was promoted by Sn4+ addition but was inhibited by Nb5+ doping. The activity of the photocatalyst was evaluated by photocatalytic degradation kinetics of aqueous methylene blue under UV and Visible radiation. The results show that the photocatalytic activity of the Sn-doped TiO2 thin film have a larger degradation efficiency than Nb-doped TiO2 under visible light, but under UV light photocatalytic activity of the Nb-doped TiO2 thin film is better.  相似文献

The thin films of TiO2 doped by Mn non-uniformly were prepared by sol-gel method under process control. In our preceding study, we investigated in detail, the effect of doping mode on the photocatalytic activity of TiO2 films showing that Mn non-uniform doping can greatly enhance the activity. In this study we looked at the effect of doping concentration on the photocatalytic activity of the TiO2 films. In this paper, the thin films were characterized by UV-vis spectrophotometer and electrochemical workstation. The activity of the photocatalyst was also evaluated by photocatalytic degradation rate of aqueous methyl orange under UV radiation. The results illustrate that the TiO2 thin film doped by Mn non-uniformly at the optimal dopant concentration (0.7 at %) is of the highest activity, and on the contrary, the activity of those doped uniformly is decreased. As a comparison, in 80 min, the degradation rate of methyl orange is 62 %, 12 % and 34 % for Mn non-uniform doping film (0.7 at %), the uniform doping film (0.7 at %) and pure titanium dioxide film, respectively. We have seen that, for the doping and the pure TiO2 films, the stronger signals of open circuit potential and transient photocurrent, the better photocatalytic activity. We also discusse the effect of dopant concentration on the photocatalytic activity of the TiO2 films in terms of effective separation of the photon-generated carriers in the semiconductor.  相似文献

Photocatalytically active Pb-doped TiO2 thin films were prepared on a soda-lime glass substrate by sol-gel dip-coating technique using TiO2 sols containing lead(II) nitrate. The thin films were characterized by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), atomic force microscopy (AFM), UV-VIS spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction (XRD). A shift of the UV-VIS absorption towards longer wavelengths was observed, which indicated a decrease in the band-gap of TiO2 upon Pb doping. XRD results showed both pure and Pb-doped TiO2 thin films were polycrystalline, anatase type, and oriented predominantly to the (101) plane. A slight shift in the d-spacing for the Pb-doped film indicated the incorporation of Pb into the TiO2 lattice to form Pb x Ti1–x O2 solid solution. AFM results showed Pb-doped TiO2 thin films were composed of larger TiO2 particles and had rougher surface, compared with un-doped TiO2 thin films. XPS results showed that except for the enrichment of Pb near the surface, Pb exists in the forms of Pb x Ti1–x O2 and PbO. Dimethyl-2,2-dichlorovinyl phosphate (DDVP) was efficiently degraded in the presence of the Pb-doped TiO2 thin films by exposing the insecticide solution to sunlight. The mechanism of photocatalytic activity enhancement of the Pb-doped TiO2 thin films was discussed.  相似文献

In this study, porous TiO2 thin films were prepared by the sol‐gel method employing polyethylene glycol 1000 (PEG 1000) as an organic template. Pore sizes were adjusted by varying the concentration of PEG 1000. The optimal PEG concentration range required to form TiO2 films with a regular porous structure was investigated and was found to be 0.01–0.015 M. As the PEG 1000 concentration increased, the surface of these films became rougher because of larger pores. Degradation of methylene blue (MB) under UV irradiation was used to determine the photocatalytic activity of the films. In addition, the effect of the pH value of the MB solution on the films was evaluated by controlling its pH value at 5, 7, and 9. The results showed that the photocatalytic activity was correlated to the pore size and pore density of the thin films. TiO2 thin films possessing pore sizes in the diameter range of 35–85 nm exhibited the best conversion of 98% after 8 h of UV irradiation when the pH value was 7.  相似文献

A series of Bismuth-doped titanium oxide (Bi-doped TiO2) thin films on glass substrates have been prepared by sol-gel dip coating process. The prepared catalysts were characterized by XRD and XPS. The photocatlytic activity of the thin film catalysts was evaluated through the photodegradation of aqueous methyl orange under UV illumination. The experiments demonstrated that the Bi-doped TiO2 prepared was anatase phase. The doped bismuth was in the 3+ oxidation state. The presence of Bi significantly enhanced the photocatalytic activity of TiO2 films. At calcination temperature of 500°C, with doping concentration of 2 wt %, Bi-doped TiO2 thin film showed the highest photocatalyic activity.  相似文献

The uniform transparent TiO2/SiO2 nanometer composite thin films were prepared via sol-gel method on the soda lime glass substrates, and were characterized by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), FTIR spectroscopy, UV-VIS spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and BET surface areas. It was found that the addition of SiO2 to TiO2 thin films could suppress the grain growth of TiO2 crystal and increase the hydroxyl content of the surface of TiO2 films. The photocatalytic activity of the as-prepared TiO2/SiO2 composite thin films increases for SiO2 content of less than 5 mol%.  相似文献

The effects of HF treatment on the activity of TiO2 thin films for the photocatalytic water splitting reaction have been investigated. TiO2 thin films treated with HF solution (HF-TiO2) were found to exhibit a remarkable enhancement of the photocatalytic activity for H2 evolution from a methanol aqueous solution, as well as efficient photoelectrochemical performance under UV light irradiation as compared with the untreated TiO2. Moreover, Pt-loaded HF-TiO2 thin films were found to act as efficient and stable photocatalysts for the decomposition of water under UV light irradiation. The mechanistic insights obtained in the present study will be useful in the design of highly efficient photocatalysts for the decomposition of water.

A highly efficient black TiO2-Ag photocatalytic nanocomposite, active under both UV and visible light illumination, was synthesized by decorating the surface of 25 nm TiO2 particles with Ag nanoparticles. The material was obtained via a rapid, one-pot, simple (surfactant and complexing agent free) chemical reduction method using silver nitrate and formaldehyde as a metal salt and reducing agent, respectively. The nanocomposite shows an increase of over 800% in the rate of photocatalytic methylene blue dye degradation, compared to commercial unmodified TiO2, under UV-VIS illumination. Unlike pure TiO2, the nanocomposite exhibits visible light activation, with a corresponding drop in optical reflectance from 100% to less than 10%. The photocatalytic properties were shown to be strongly enhanced by post-reduction annealing heat treatments in air, which were observed to decrease, rather than coarsen, silver particle size, and increase particle distribution. This, accompanied by a variation in the silver surface oxidation states, appear to dramatically affect the photocatalytic efficiency under both UV and visible light. This highly active photocatalyst could have wide ranging applications in water and air pollution remediation and solar fuel production.  相似文献

In this study, Ag deposited TiO2 (Ag/TiO2) composites were prepared by three different methods (Ultraviolet Irradiation Deposition (UID), Vitamin C Reduction (VCR) and Sodium Borohydride Reduction (SBR)) for the visible-light photocatalytic degradation of organic dyes in magnetic field. And then the prepared Ag deposited TiO2 (Ag/TiO2) composites were characterized physically by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The visible-light photocatalytic activities of these three kinds of Ag deposited TiO2 (Ag/TiO2) composites were examined and compared through the degradation of several organic dyes under visible-light irradiation in magnetic field. In addition, some influence factors such as visible-light irradiation time, organic dye concentration, revolution speed, magnetic field intensity and organic dye kind on the visible-light photocatalytic activity of Ag deposited TiO2 (Ag/TiO2) composite were reviewed. The research results showed that the presence of magnetic field significantly enhanced the visible-light photocatalytic activity of Ag deposited TiO2 (Ag/TiO2) composites and then contributed to the degradation of organic dyes.  相似文献

Titanium dioxide (TiO2) is recognized as the most efficient photocatalytic material, but due to its large band gap energy it can only be excited by UV irradiation. Doping TiO2 with nitrogen is a promising modification method for the utilization of visible light in photocatalysis. In this work, nitrogen-doped TiO2 films were grown by atomic layer deposition (ALD) using TiCl4, NH3 and water as precursors. All growth experiments were done at 500 °C. The films were characterized by XRD, XPS, SEM and UV–vis spectrometry. The influence of nitrogen doping on the photocatalytic activity of the films in the UV and visible light was evaluated by the degradation of a thin layer of stearic acid and by linear sweep voltammetry. Light-induced superhydrophilicity of the films was also studied. It was found that the films could be excited by visible light, but they also suffered from increased recombination.  相似文献

We successfully prepared Ag quantum dots modified TiO2 microspheres by facile solvothermal and calcination method. The as-prepared Ag quantum dots/TiO2 microspheres were characterized by scanning electron microscope, transmission electron microscope, X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy. The Ag quantum dots/TiO2 photocatalyst showed excellent visible light absorption and efficient photocatalytic activity for methyl orange degradation. And the sample with the molar ratio of 0.05 (Ag to Ti) showed the best visible light photocatalytic activity for methyl orange degradation, mainly because of the surface plasmon resonance (SPR) effects of Ag quantum dots to generate electron and hole pairs for enhanced visible light photocatalysis. Finally, possible visible light photocatalytic mechanism of Ag quantum dots/TiO2 microspheres for methyl orange degradation was proposed in detail.  相似文献

The correlation between the textural properties and the photocatalytic activity of nanocrystalline Titanium dioxide (TiO2)-anatase films obtained by sol–gel has been investigated. Mesoporous and mesostructured TiO2-anatase films were prepared using different titanium precursors and Pluronic (F127) and polyethylene glycol hexadecyl ether P5884 (Brij58) surfactants via acid catalysis. Ca(NO3)2 and WCl6 were incorporated to TiO2 sols to investigate the effect of the doping on the photocatalytic behaviour. The microstructure and textural properties were characterised by X-ray diffraction, spectral ellipsometry and transmission electronic microscopy. The photocatalytic properties were evaluated in aqueous solution (methyl orange) and in gas phase (trichloroethylene, sulphide acid and methyl-ethyl-ketone) using multilayer films deposited on glass-slides. TiO2-B-Brij-58 films exhibited the most efficient photocatalytic activity either in aqueous or gas medium. The Ca doping strongly enhances the photocatalytic activity associated with the reduced recombination of electrons and holes in the catalyst.  相似文献

The plasmonic Ag-TiO2 (with 0.5 wt% Ag) photocatalyst was prepared on P25 TiO2 surface. The presence of AgNPs on the titania was indicated by the UV–vis spectrum, which showed a plasmonic absorbance band in the visible range (λ max?=?455 nm). XPS measurements suggested that Ag was in metallic (Ag) and in oxide forms on TiO2. Ag-TiO2 photocatalyst and TiO2 were embedded in [poly(ethyl acrylate-co-methyl methacrylate; p(EA-co-MMA)] copolymer to attain mechanically stable, photocatalytically active nanocomposite films. The photooxidation of ethanol was slower on the photocatalyst/polymer nanocomposites, but it could be significantly improved by irradiating them with UV light. The photoaging was applied as a post-preparation treatment to improve the photocatalytic activity of the nanocomposite films. Changed surface morphology and the partial destruction of the polymer were supported by AFM and FTIR results. Contact angle measurements were used to determine the surface free energies of the prepared and the photoaged nanocomposite films.  相似文献

In this article, TiO2 films were synthesized by traditional spin coating method. To improve their photocatalytic activities, we deposited silver on these films by photodeposition. These films also were characterized by several testing techniques, such as X‐ray diffraction, ultraviolet–visible diffuse reflection spectrum, XPS, Raman spectroscopy (Raman), surface photovoltage spectroscopy, and SEM. The activity of different films was evaluated for degrading rhodamine B solution under visible illumination. The effects of AgNO3 solution concentration on photoinduced charge property and photocatalytic activity were investigated. The results show that the Ag‐TiO2 film immersed in 10?3 mol·L?1 AgNO3 solution exhibits higher activity, which is in good agreement with the characterization results. The weaker the surface photovoltage spectroscopy signal, the higher the photocatalytic activity. Moreover, the activity of some films is higher than that of international Degussa P‐25 TiO2 under visible illumination. Copyright © 2012 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

The preparation of amorphous TiO2 film coupled with various metal-oxide semiconductors and their photocatalytic activities evaluated by photo-degradation of methylene blue and rhodamine B aqueous solution are briefly reviewed. The proposed photoreaction mechanism of the amorphous composite semiconductor and the differences between amorphous TiO2-based films and crystalline TiO2 photocatalytic materials in terms of preparation and usage are addressed. The inactive intrinsic amorphous TiO2 film coupled with various metal oxides were found to gain high photocatalytic activity. These dopants induce forming new energy levels in the band gap of TiO2 to enhance the charge separation of the photoinduced electrons and holes and extend the light absorption of TiO2-based photocatalytic films into the visible region. In addition, two different effects of coupling metal oxides have been proved: the introduction of oxides of W, Cr, V, Ag, and Mo can significantly increase the photo-reactivity of amorphous TiO2 film, while the combination of oxides of Zr, Sn, Sb, Cu, Ta, Fe, and Ni cannot affect the inactivity of pure amorphous TiO2 film.  相似文献

The novel three-component Fe3O4/TiO2/Ag composite mircospheres were prepared via a facile chemical deposition route. The Fe3O4/TiO2 mircospheres were first prepared by the solvothermal method, and then Ag nanoparticles were anchored onto the out-layer of TiO2 by the tyrosine-reduced method. The as-prepared magnetic Fe3O4/TiO2/Ag composite mircospheres were applied as photocatalysis for the photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue. The results indicate that the photocatalytic activity of Fe3O4/TiO2/Ag composite microspheres is superior to that of Fe3O4/TiO2 due to the dual effects of the enhanced light absorption and reduction of photoelectron–hole pair recombination in TiO2 with the introduction of Ag NPs. Moreover, these magnetic Fe3O4/TiO2/Ag composite microspheres can be completely removed from the dispersion with the help of magnetic separation and reused with little or no loss of catalytic activity.  相似文献
