We give new bounds on eigenvalue of graphs which imply some known bounds. In particular, if T(G) is the maximum sum of degrees of vertices adjacent to a vertex in a graph G, the largest eigenvalue ρ(G) of G satisfies with equality if and only if either G is regular or G is bipartite and such that all vertices in the same part have the same degree. Consequently, we prove that the chromatic number of G is at most with equality if and only if G is an odd cycle or a complete graph, which implies Brook's theorem. A generalization of this result is also given.  相似文献

For nonautonomous linear equations x′ = A(t)x, we give a complete characterization of the existence of exponential behavior in terms of Lyapunov functions. In particular, we obtain an inverse theorem giving explicitly Lyapunov functions for each exponential dichotomy. The main novelty of our work is that we consider a very general type of nonuniform exponential dichotomy. This includes for example uniform exponential dichotomies, nonuniform exponential dichotomies and polynomial dichotomies. We also consider the case of different growth rates for the uniform and the nonuniform parts of the dichotomy. As an application of our work, we establish in a very direct manner the robustness of nonuniform exponential dichotomies under sufficiently small linear perturbations.  相似文献

It is proved that every $(Q,T)$-affine-periodic differential equation has a $(Q,T)$-affine-periodic solution if the corresponding homogeneous linear equation admits exponential dichotomy or exponential trichotomy. This kind of ``periodic'' solutions might be usual periodic or quasi-periodic ones if $Q$ is an identity matrix or orthogonal matrix. Hence solutions also possess certain symmetry in geometry. 本文提出了三点边值问题-v″(t)=b(t)f(v(t)),满足v′(0)=0及v(1)=αv(η)的共轭问题-u″(t)=b(t)f(u(t)),u′(0)=u(1)=0及u′_+(η)-u′_-(η)=αu′(1),得到了相应的Green函数.将其转化为Hammertein型积分方程,借助于其相应线性问题的第一特征值,利用锥上的不动点指数理论,给出了共轭问题单个正解及多个正解存在的特征值准则.  相似文献

Consider an operator equation G(u,λ) = 0 where λ is a real parameter. Suppose 0 is a “simple” eigenvalue of the Fréchet derivative Gu at (u0, λ0). We give a hierarchy of conditions which completely determines the solution structure of the operator equation. It will be shown that multiple bifurcation as well as simple bifurcation can occur. This extends the standard bifurcation theory from a simple eigenvalue in which only one branch bifurcates. We also discuss limit point bifurcations. Applications to semilinear elliptic equations and the homotopy method for the matrix eigenvalue problem are also given.  相似文献
