The excitation and ionization spectra of RuO4 and OsO4 are studied theoretically by the symmetry-adapted cluster (SAC ) and SAC-CI theories. This is the attempt to assign whole of the spectra by ab initio calculations including electron correlations. In the ground state, electron correlations work to reduce the polarity of the M–O bond overestimated in the Hartree–Fock calculation. The Os–O bond is stronger than is the Ru–O bond, which is reflected in the differences of the excitation and ionization spectra of RuO4 and OsO4. The excitation energies of the experimental spectra are well reproduced by the SAC-CI theory, though the calculated intensities of some peaks are very small in comparison with the experiments. The outer-valence ionization spectra calculated by the SAC-CI theory agree well with the experimental photoelectron spectra. Some shake-up peaks that are accompanied with an electron-transfers from oxygen to metal are also calculated.  相似文献

The photoabsorption spectrum of but-2-yne in the range 5.5–11 eV (225–110 nm) has been recorded using a synchrotron radiation source. The spectrum is dominated by three d-type Rydberg series, converging to the first ionisation energy (IE) (π−1, 9.562 eV). Origins of the π3d members are 7.841, 7.977 and 8.018 eV, respectively. Transitions of low intensity, arising from excitation of the π3s state (origin, 6.35 eV) and two π3p Rydberg states (7.38 and 7.51 eV, respectively) have also been identified in the spectrum. Near-threshold electron energy-loss spectra reveal valence excited triplet states at about 5.2 and 5.8 eV, respectively.Electronic excitation energies for valence and Rydberg-type states have been computed using ab initio multi-reference multi-root CI methods. These studies used a triple zeta + polarisation basis set, augmented by diffuse (Rydberg) orbitals, to generate the theoretical singlet and triplet energy manifolds. The correlation of theory and experiment shows the nature of the more intense Rydberg state types, and identification of the main valence and Rydberg bands. Calculated energies for Rydberg states are close to those expected, and there is generally a good correlation between the theoretical and experimental envelopes. It was possible to generate singlet Rydberg states which relate to the 5-lowest IEs of but-2-yne; furthermore, the separation of these sequences shows that the IE order (under D3h symmetry) is: , also supported by direct calculation of the IEs by CI.The lowest valence singlet states are ππ*, optically forbidden, and calculated to lie near 7.3 and 7.6 eV. The states which contribute strongly to the observed spectrum are πσ* near 7.9 eV having excitation, followed by several ππ* and πσ* states between 10.0 and 10.5 eV; an 1E′ antisymmetric combination(2e′2e″ − 2e′2e″) is by far the strongest in intensity. A further group of symmetry-allowed valence states are calculated to lie near 12.3 and 12.9 eV. The two lowest triplet states, both of E′ symmetry (ππ*), have vertical excitation energies of 5.7 and 6.2 eV, but are strongly bent with a trans-CCCC unit (CS and C2h). The theoretical work confirms that, on intensity grounds, valence excited states do not contribute significantly to the spectrum. CI calculations of the ionic states give the ionisation energy sequence (D3h): . Adiabatic structures for the first cation, two triplets, and a singlet (C2h) were obtained; these show shortening of C–C, and lengthening of CC, in a trans-CCCC, as is found with ethyne.  相似文献

The potential energy curves and spectroscopic constants of the ground and 32 low-lying electronic states of ZrC have been studied by employing multireference configuration interaction methods, in conjunction with relativistic effective core potentials and 5s3p3d1f, 3s3p1d basis sets con Zr and C, respectively. We have determined that the ground state is (3)Sigma(+). However there are two low-lying (1)Sigma(+) states (below 5000 cm(-1)) which strongly interact resulting in avoided crossings. The lowest (1)Sigma(+) state corresponds to a combination of 1sigma(2) Xsigma(2) 1pi(4) configurations whereas the second is an open shell singlet 1sigma(2) 2sigma(1) 3sigma(1) 1pi(4). Several avoided crossings were observed, for (1)Pi, (3)Pi, (1)Delta, (3)Sigma(+), and (3)Delta states. We have identified (3)Pi and (1)Pi lying at 4367 and 5797 cm(-1), respectively. The results are in good agreement with the recent experimental findings of Rixon et al. [J. Mol. Spectrosc. 228, 554 (2004)], and indicate that the (3)Pi-(3)Sigma(+), and (1)Pi-(1)Sigma(+), bands located between 16 000-19 000 cm(-1) are extremely complex due to near degeneracy of several (1)Pi and (3)Pi states. We also have identified a (1)Sigma(+) state in the same region that may interfere with the (1)Pi emission bands. The present results not only shed further light into the spectra of ZrC but also predict yet to be observed systems.  相似文献

Momentum densities for the N2 molecule are investigated. Differences between the ground state and low-lying excited states as well as the effects of ionization are discussed. The densities are calculated by taking Fournier transforms of natural spin orbitals of wavefunctions calculated in a minimal basis with configuration interaction.  相似文献

The direct CI method, which avoids explicit calculation of the Hamiltonian matrix, is presented in a new form. The method is linked with Davidson's algorithm for iterative evaluation of the ground state eigenvector. The viability of the method is indicated by the test calculations on water which are described.  相似文献

The N2(+) states lying in the ionization region of 26-45 eV and the dissociation dynamics are investigated by high-resolution threshold photoelectron spectroscopy and threshold photoelectron-photoion coincidence spectroscopy. The threshold photoelectron spectrum exhibits several broad bands as well as sharp peaks. The band features are assigned to the N2(+) states associated with the removal of an inner-valence electron, by a comparison with a configuration interaction calculation. In contrast, most of the sharp peaks on the threshold photoelectron spectrum are allocated to ionic Rydberg states converging to N2(2+). Dissociation products formed from the inner-valence N2(+) states are determined by threshold photoelectron-photoion coincidence spectroscopy. The dissociation dynamics of the inner-valence ionic states is discussed with reference to the potential energy curves calculated.  相似文献

The electronic vertical excitation energies for singlet and triplet valence, and Rydberg states of trans-buta-1,3-diene have been computed using ab initio multi-reference multi-root CI procedures with a [4s3p3d3f] set of Rydberg functions. Close numerical agreement between theory and experiment was found for a number of low-lying electronic states.  相似文献

Ab initio calculations are reported for the simplest heteronuclear metal cluster, LiBe. Full spin-orbit configuration interaction calculations in the context of relativistic effective core potentials lead to accurate potential energy curves for low-lying states. Results are compared with recent experimental observations and with all electron multi-reference configuration interaction calculations.  相似文献

Potentials curves for the ground and excited states of the chlorine molecules and its positive and negative ions have been calculated by means of the MRD-CI method. The standard AO basis employed consists of 74 functions including two atomic d and one set of s and p bond species, and the results at the corresponding full CI level are estimated for each state via a perturbation correction. Special emphasis is placed upon the treatment of Rydberg-valence mixing in this system, which phenomenon is found to be essential to the understanding of Cl2 electronic absorption spectrum. All singlet states which correlate with the lowest dissociation limit plus many others which go to ionic Cl++Cl? or Rydberg Cl+Cl asymptotes are given explicit consideration. Among the triplet species of Cl2 which dissociate into the ground state atoms only the 3Πu state is not repulsive. The calculated D0 value for the ground state is 2.455 eV compared to the experimental value of 2.475 eV, while the vertical ionization energy and electron affinity are found to be 11.48 and 2.38 eV respectively, also in very good agreement with the corresponding measured data of 11.50 and 2.51 ± 0.1 eV. In addition to Cl2 laser line is confirmed to result from a 3Πg3Πu emission, whereby the calculated downward vertical transition energy of 4.86 eV fits in quite well with the known location of this line at 4.805 eV. The first two dipole-allowed transitions from the ground state of chlorine involve 1Σu+ and 1Πu states which are calculated to be nearly isoenergetic, and these results also match very well with the location of the first absorption band in this spectrum. Finally quite similarly as in O2 it is found that an avoided crossing between Rydberg and valences states produces a relatively steep potential well for an upper state (2 1Σu+), whose location concides with that of a second absorption band recently observed in synchrotron radiation studies.  相似文献

The Rydberg states in the vacuum ultraviolet photoabsorption spectrum of 1,2,3-triazole have been measured and analyzed with the aid of comparison to the UV valence photoelectron ionizations and the results of ab initio configuration interaction (CI) calculations. Calculated electronic ionization and excitation energies for singlet, triplet valence, and Rydberg states were obtained using multireference multiroot CI procedures with an aug-cc-pVTZ [5s3p3d1f] basis set and a set of Rydberg [4s3p3d3f] functions. Adiabatic excitation energies obtained for several electronic states using coupled-cluster (singles, doubles, and triples) and complete active space self-consistent field procedures agree well with experimental values. Variations in bond lengths with the electronic state are discussed. The lowest energy UV band (~5.5-6.5 eV) is assigned to three electronically excited states and demonstrates the occurrence of a nonplanar upper state on the low energy side. A UV photoelectron spectrum with an improved resolution yielded adiabatic and vertical ionization energies and reorganization energies for several of the lowest cationic states. As well as excitations to the s, p, d-Rydberg states are the excitations consistent with an f-series.  相似文献

The low-lying electronic states of O3 and SO2 in their bent and cyclic isomers up to about 10 eV are calculated using the multireference configuration interaction (MRCI) method with a standard Gaussian correlation consistent polarized triple-zeta (cc-pVTZ) basis set. The vertical excitation energies, electron configurations, and oscillator strengths of these states are reported. The molecular orbital structures and excited states of the cyclic isomers are discussed in relation to the bent ones. Coherent anti-Stokes Raman spectroscopy (CARS) schemes for detecting the synthesis of the cyclic isomers are suggested.  相似文献

The addition of iron or boron and/or nitrogen, up to 20?%, to amorphous carbon with a density of about 2.0?gm/cm3 was studied using density functional theory. The bulk cohesive energy decreases with increasing iron, nitrogen, or boron concentration. The decrease is largest for iron and smallest for boron. The trends in the bulk moduli are consistent with the cohesive energies. The optical properties (absorbance and reflectivity) of the samples with nitrogen and/or boron added are very similar to those of the original amorphous carbon. Addition of iron results in larger, energy dependent, changes when compared with either boron or nitrogen. The effect of dopants on low-density amorphous carbon shows some differences with those for higher density amorphous carbon.  相似文献

The interaction between a Ni atom and a Cu atom in the configurations (3d)9(4s)1 and (3d)10(4s)1, respectively, has been calculated usingab initio Hartree-Fock and configuration interaction methods. The chemical bond between the two atoms is due to a bonding 4sσ molecular orbital. Equilibrium distances, dissociation energies and vibrational frequencies are predicted for the low-lying states. Finally the influence of spin-orbit coupling on the low-lying states is considered.  相似文献

Characteristic parameters (energetic positions, widths, etc.) of the 23 spectroscopically observed (or potentially observable) quasi-bound energy levels for the ground state H(2) molecule are determined with high accuracy. The recent advances concerning nonadiabatic, relativistic, and quantum electrodynamical corrections have been taken into consideration. Theoretical approach is based on the careful investigation of the energy dependences of the real stationary scattering-state wave functions (their phase shifts and amplitudes). These energy dependences can be very accurately fitted to simple analytic formulas resulting from the quantum scattering theory. General criteria for the assignment of quasi-bound states are discussed and a new criterion is proposed, which excludes too broad and ambiguous resonances. To implement the proposed approach, a special high-precision computational method was used, which is described in full detail.  相似文献
