The convective boundary-layer flow on an impermeable vertical surface in a fluid-saturated porous medium is considered where the flow results from the heat released by an exothermic catalytic reaction on the surface converting a reactive component within the convective fluid to an inert product. The reaction is modelled by first-order kinetics with an Arrhenius temperature dependence. Numerical solutions of the governing equations are obtained for a range of parameter values. These show, for large activation energies, that localized rapid changes in wall temperature and localized high reaction rates occur a little way from the leading edge. Asymptotic expansions, valid at large distances from the leading edge, are derived, the form that these expansions take is qualitatively different depending on whether or not reactant consumption is included in the model.  相似文献

The proposed numerical code simulates the displacement of two miscible fluids through a saturated porous medium (2D configuration). Coupling between flow and transport is carried out by an equation of state. In the mixing zone, the density is assumed to vary as a function of concentration. The model uses a combination of the mixed hybrid finite element method and the discontinuous finite element method.Applied in its classical development, the mixed hybrid finite element method leads to a non-conservative formulation of the mass balance equation. However, one of the main reasons for using this technique is the ability to conserve mass cell-by-cell. Consequently, a new formulation that makes it possible to hold the conservative form of the continuity equation and so preserve the mass cell-wise is proposed. Although the pertinence of these approaches could have also been tested on other standard benchmarks, e.g., Elder's problem or salt dome problem, we have voluntarily limited ourselves to Henry's problem (1964). This choice was dictated by the possibility of a comparison with a semi-analytical solution. Contrary to previous numerical results, the comparison is made for the whole mixing zone. The very good agreement between our results and the semi-analytical solution shows the robustness and the efficiency of this approach for the seawater intrusion problems.  相似文献

通过二次开发技术,将Merkle、Kunz、Kubota、Singhal四种不同的质量传输模型和液氮物质属性随温度变化函数等引入了计算软件CFX。在考虑热力学效应的条件下,对绕翼型的液氮空化流动进行了数值计算,并与实验结果进行对比分析。结果表明:由于传输方程的物理机制不同,造成各模型的计算结果尤其是对热力学效应影响的描述存在明显的差别。Merkle模型计算得到的压力和温度分布与实验最为接近,质量传输过程能较好地反映温度场变化的影响,从而能较好地反映热力学效应对空化发展的影响;Singhal模型计算得到的结果与实验数据差距最大,其模拟得到的质量传输过程不能很好地反应温度流场的变化的影响。  相似文献

用AUTODYN动力学软件对装药在混凝土介质靶中爆炸作数值仿真,研究了不同的网格描述方法,以及网格划分方法对计算结果的影响。通过实际算例比较了Lagrange算法和SPH算法以及不同的网格划分细度对靶径向、轴向不同距离的最大冲击压力、靶背过载以及损伤区、炸坑大小的模拟计算结果。分析得到了混凝土介质靶中爆炸问题数值仿真的合适算法,即拉氏算法对炸点近处的较高的最大冲击压力有较好的敏感能力,SPH算法对仿真计算爆坑形态以及抛掷体速度等具有明显的优势。对于算例问题,拉氏算法10 mm网格和SPH算法3 mm粒子即可满足一定的计算精度。  相似文献

The natural dissimilarity or decorrelation of stream-wise velocity and temperature fluctuations in fully developed turbulent channel and plane Couette flows was studied using direct numerical simulation (DNS). For both of the flow configurations, a Reynolds number of about 150 was used based on the friction velocity and half the distance between walls. Buoyancy effects were neglected, and only results with a molecular Prandtl number, Pr, equal to 1 are presented. The boundary conditions for the thermal field were a uniform source of energy in the domain and isothermal wall temperature for the channel and Couette flow, respectively. The importance of those events responsible for wall-normal turbulent fluxes in the generation of axial velocity and temperature dissimilarity was examined using conditional probability. It was found that the dissimilarity in the whole domain was higher in Couette than in channel flow. It was also found that for wall-normal turbulent fluxes (momentum and heat), the averaged dissimilarity in the whole domain was slightly more correlated with those events in the second or fourth quadrant, according to the quadrant analysis technique. For channel flow, the importance of both kinds of events was similar, while for Couette flow there was a predominance in the generation of dissimilarity by those events in the fourth quadrant. Also, for both flow configurations and throughout the wall-normal direction, it was found that in the buffer region there was a predominance of events in the fourth quadrant associated with dissimilarity for both wall-normal turbulent fluxes. In the frequency domain, the distribution of energy showed that there was a high-frequency shift experienced from the wall towards the centerline by the temperature spectrum with regards to the axial velocity spectrum, for which the action of the fluctuations of the wall-normal velocity was the main cause. In the central region of the flow, on the other hand, there was a global convergence of all spectra towards the pressure spectrum, with this convergence lower for Couette flow. Finally, it is shown that the dissimilarity in developed conditions is caused by the greater correlation existing for the temperature fluctuation with the instantaneous axial pressure gradient than for the velocity fluctuation with the instantaneous axial pressure gradient.  相似文献

Turbulent flow through a duct of square cross-section gives rise to off-axis secondary flows, which are known to transfer momentum between fluid layers thereby flattening the velocity profile. The aim of this study is to investigate the role of the secondary flows in the transport and dispersion of particles suspended in a turbulent square duct flow. We have numerically simulated a flow through a square duct having a Reynolds number of Reτ = 300 through discretization of the Navier–Stokes equations, and followed the trajectories of a large number of passive tracers and finite-inertia particles under a one-way coupling assumption. Snapshots of particle locations and statistics of single-particle and particle pair dispersion were analyzed. It was found that lateral mixing is enhanced for passive tracers and low-inertia particles due to the lateral advective transport that is absent in straight pipe and channels flows. Higher inertia particles accumulate close to the wall, and thus tend to mix more efficiently in the streamwise direction since a large number of the particles spend more time in a region where the mean fluid velocity is small compared to the bulk. Passive tracers tend to remain within the secondary swirling flows, circulating between the core and boundary of the duct.  相似文献

A new formulation for the modeling of density coupled flow and transport in porous media is presented. This formulation is based on the development of the mass balance equation by using the conservative form. The system of equations obtained by coupling the flow and transport equations using a state equation is solved by a combination of the mixed hybrid finite element method (MHFEM) and the discontinuous finite element method (DFEM). The former is applied in order to solve the flow equation and the dispersive part of the transport equation, whilst the latter is used to solve the advective part of the transport equation. Although the advantages of the MHFEM are known (efficiency calculation of velocity field and continuity of fluxes from one element to an adjacent one), its application in a classical development form (volumetric fluxes as unknowns) leads to the non-conservative version of the mass balance equation. The associated matrix of the system of equations obtained by hybridization is positive definite but non-symmetrical. By using a new approach (mass fluxes as unknowns) the conservative form of the continuity equation is preserved and the associated matrix of the system of equations obtained by hybridization becomes symmetrical. When applied to Elder's problem involving a strong density contrast, this new approach, with a lower calculation cost, leads to similar or identical results to those found in the specialized literature. The comparison between the conservative and non-conservative formulations solved with the same MHFEM and DFEM combination emphasizes the rigor and the pertinence of this new approach. Furthermore, we show the existence of a limit refinement defining the stability of the numerical solution for Elder's problem.  相似文献

In this paper, we reconsider the problem of fully developed natural convection heat and mass transfer of a micropolar fluid in a vertical channel with asymmetric wall temperatures and concentrations. The resulting boundary‐value problem is solved analytically by the homotopy analysis method. The accuracy of the present solution is found to be in excellent agreement with the solutions of Cheng (Int. Commun. Heat Mass Transfer 2006; 33 :627–635). The present paper is concerned with the stresses generated in a capillary-porous wall saturated from the bottom and dried naturally on its side planes. The upper cross-section of the wall is totally isolated and no heat and moisture transfer occurs through it, while the bottom one has an a priori determined temperature and moisture content. The vertical planes of the wall are surrounded by air having different temperatures and moisture contents on the left and the right sides. The problem is solved numerically based on a mechanistic model of drying earlier developed by the authors. The distributions of temperature, moisture content, and the drying induced stresses are determined. The variation of temperature on the wall left and right surfaces is analysed dependent on the surroundings temperature. The influence of boundary conditions on the stress distribution in the wall is discussed.  相似文献

The motion and heat and mass transfer of particles of a disperse admixture in nonisothermal jets of a gas and a low-temperature plasma are simulated with allowance for the migration mechanism of particle motion actuated by the turbophoresis force and the influence of turbulent fluctuations of the jet flow velocity on heat and mass transfer of the particle. The temperature distribution inside the particle at each time step is found by solving the equation of unsteady heat conduction. The laws of scattering of the admixture and the laws of melting and evaporation of an individual particle are studied, depending on the injection velocity and on the method of particle insertion into the jet flow. We present an efficient and easily implementable finite volume method simulating radionuclide transport through highly heterogeneous grounds in three space dimensions. The numerical concentration of the transported chemicals are proved to remain nonnegative and stable. Then, we run a realistic test case in which some radioactive iodine I129 particles are released from a leak in an underground nuclear waste disposal site. The question of whether the radionuclide invades the underground and reach the ground surface is investigated. Two-dimensional steady-state thermal concentration convection in a rectangular porous cavity is simulated numerically. The temperature and concentration gradients are horizontal and the buoyancy forces act either in the same or in opposite directions. The flow through the porous medium is described by the Darcy-Brinkman or Forchheimer equations. The SIMPLER numerical algorithm based on the finite volume approach is used for solving the problem in the velocity-pressure variables.Numerous series of calculations were carried out over the range Ra t =3·106 and 3·107, 10-6 < Da < 1, 1 < N < 20, Le=10 and 100, where Ra, Da, Le, and N are the Rayleigh, Darcy, and Lewis numbers and the buoyancy ratio, respectively. It is shown that the main effect of the presence of the porous medium is to reduce the heat and mass transfer and attenuate the flow field with decrease in permeability. For a certain combination of the Ra, Le, and N numbers the flow has a multicellular structure. The mean Nusselt and Sherwood numbers are presented as functions of the governing parameters.  相似文献

The triple diffusive convection in an Oldroyd-B fluid-saturated porous layer is investigated by performing linear and weakly nonlinear stability analyses. The condition for the onset of stationary and oscillatory is derived analytically. Contrary to the observed phenomenon in Newtonian fluids, the presence of viscoelasticity of the fluid is to degenerate the quasiperiodic bifurcation from the steady quiescent state. Under certain conditions, it is found that disconnected closed convex oscillatory neutral curves occur, indicating the requirement of three critical values of the thermal Darcy-Rayleigh number to identify the linear instability criteria instead of the usual single value, which is a novel result enunciated from the present study for an Oldroyd-B fluid saturating a porous medium. The similarities and differences of linear instability characteristics of Oldroyd-B, Maxwell, and Newtonian fluids are also highlighted. The stability of oscillatory finite amplitude convection is discussed by deriving a cubic Landau equation, and the convective heat and mass transfer are analyzed for different values of physical parameters.  相似文献

An unsteady quasi-one-dimensional model is constructed for the process of sublimation of a monocrystalline plate of -diketonate in a uniform flow of an indifferent gas. A method of collocations and least squares is developed for solving heat-transfer problems. In contrast to the previous variants of the method, the algorithm proposed is designed for solving unsteady equations in partial derivatives with a phase transition. Numerical calculations are performed for various regimes of sublimation of chromium -diketonate; the results are in good agreement with the data of a physical experiment.  相似文献
