We define a new Newton-type method for the solution of constrained systems of equations and analyze in detail its properties. Under suitable conditions, that do not include differentiability or local uniqueness of solutions, the method converges locally quadratically to a solution of the system, thus filling an important gap in the existing theory. The new algorithm improves on known methods and, when particularized to KKT systems derived from optimality conditions for constrained optimization or variational inequalities, it has theoretical advantages even over methods specifically designed to solve such systems.  相似文献

In this paper, we establish a three-term theta function identity using the complex variable theory of elliptic functions. This simple identity in form turns out to be quite useful and it is a common origin of many important theta function identities. From which the quintuple product identity and one general theta function identity related to the modular equations of the fifth order and many other interesting theta function identities are derived. We also give a new proof of the addition theorem for the Weierstrass elliptic function ℘. An identity involving the products of four theta functions is given and from which one theta function identity by McCullough and Shen is derived. The quintuple product identity is used to derive some Eisenstein series identities found in Ramanujan's lost notebook and our approach is different from that of Berndt and Yee. The proofs are self contained and elementary.  相似文献

For the massless N=1 supersymmetric electrodynamics regularized by higher derivatives, we partially sum the Feynman diagrams that define the divergent part of the two-point Green’s function and cannot be found from Schwinger—Dyson equations and Ward identities. In parts I, II, and III combined of this paper, we define a notion of viscosity solution for these equations and existence is proved by a Perron-like method. Here, in part I, we prove useful identities, and a maximum-like principle for smooth sub(super) solutions of the standard wave equation. We prove a general symmetric identity involving the degenerate Bernoulli polynomials and sums of generalized falling factorials, which unifies several known identities for Bernoulli and degenerate Bernoulli numbers and polynomials. We use this identity to describe some combinatorial relations between these polynomials and generalized factorial sums. As further applications we derive several identities, recurrences, and congruences involving the Bernoulli numbers, degenerate Bernoulli numbers, generalized factorial sums, Stirling numbers of the first kind, Bernoulli numbers of higher order, and Bernoulli numbers of the second kind.  相似文献

In this paper we give a simple proof of the Jacobi triple product identity by using basic properties of cube roots of unity. Then we give a new proof of the quintuple product identity, the septuple product identity and Winquist’s identity by using the Jacobi triple product identity and basic properties of cube and fifth roots of unity. Furthermore, we derive some new product identities by this uniform method. Later, we give some generalizations of those identities. Lastly, we derive some modular equations.  相似文献

In this paper we study some of the properties of specially multiplicative functions, which are multiplicative functions satisfying the identity (1.2). We define the norm of a specially multiplicative function (see (2.5)) and study its properties. We give several Dirichlet series identities involving specially multiplicative functions and close with a generalization of the Busche-Ramanujan identity.  相似文献

We introduce two remarkable identities written in terms of single commutators and anticommutators for any three elements of an arbitrary associative algebra. One is a consequence of the other (fundamental identity). From the fundamental identity, we derive a set of four identities (one of which is the Jacobi identity) represented in terms of double commutators and anticommutators. We establish that two of the four identities are independent and show that if the fundamental identity holds for an algebra, then the multiplication operation in that algebra is associative. We find a generalization of the obtained results to the super case and give a generalization of the fundamental identity in the case of arbitrary elements. For nondegenerate even symplectic (super)manifolds, we discuss analogues of the fundamental identity.  相似文献

It has been known for some time that there is a connection between linear codes over fields and matroids represented over fields. In fact a generator matrix for a linear code over a field is also a representation of a matroid over that field. There are intimately related operations of deletion, contraction, minors and duality on both the code and the matroid. The weight enumerator of the code is an evaluation of the Tutte polynomial of the matroid, and a standard identity relating the Tutte polynomials of dual matroids gives rise to a MacWilliams identity relating the weight enumerators of dual codes. More recently, codes over rings and modules have been considered, and MacWilliams type identities have been found in certain cases.

In this paper we consider codes over rings and modules with code duality based on a Morita duality of categories of modules. To these we associate latroids, defined here. We generalize notions of deletion, contraction, minors and duality, on both codes and latroids, and examine all natural relations among these.

We define generating functions associated with codes and latroids, and prove identities relating them, generalizing above-mentioned generating functions and identities.

We propose a general Noetherian approach to Rellich integral identities. Using this method we obtain a higher order Rellich type identity involving the polyharmonic operator on Riemannian manifolds admitting homothetic transformations. Then we prove a biharmonic Rellich identity in a more general context. We also establish a nonexistence result for semilinear systems involving biharmonic operators.  相似文献

In this paper we define a left order, right order and order of an element in a hypergroup, which has a left scalar identity, right scalar identity and scalar identity, respectively. Using left and right orders, we define and investigate some classes of subhypergroups, especially p-Sylow subhypergroups of a hypergroup. Moreover, some examples have been proposed to show that the Sylow theorems do not hold for polygroups.  相似文献

On page 335 in his lost notebook, Ramanujan recorded without proofs two identities involving finite trigonometric sums and doubly infinite series of Bessel functions. In each case, there are three possible interpretations for the double series. In an earlier paper, two of the present authors proved the first identity under one possible interpretation. In the present paper, the second identity is proved under a similar interpretation, with one additional assumption. Moreover, under a second interpretation, entirely different proofs of both identities, depending on weighted (or twisted) divisor sums, are offered. The two identities are intimately connected with the classical circle and divisor problems, respectively.  相似文献

We show that commutator identities on associative algebras generate solutions of the linearized versions of integrable equations. In addition, we introduce a special dressing procedure in a class of integral operators that allows deriving both the nonlinear integrable equation itself and its Lax pair from such a commutator identity. We study the ideal of polynomial identities of a single indeterminate satisfied by all backcrossing algebras. For this we distinguish two categories according to whether or not these algebras satisfy an identity for the plenary powers. For each category, we give the generators for the vector space of identities, a condition for any object belonging to one of these two categories verify a given identity, a necessary and su?cient condition that a polynomial is an identity and we study the existence of an idempotent element. We give a method which brings the search of identities satified by the backcrossing algebras to the solution of linear systems and we illustrate this method by constructing generators of homogeneous and non homogeneous identities of degrees less than 8.  相似文献

By calculating some four-loop diagrams in the N=1 supersymmetric electrodynamics regularized by higher derivatives, we verify a method for summing Feynman diagrams based on using Schwinger-Dyson equations and Ward identities. Using a pair of two variable series-product identities recorded by Ramanujan in the lost notebook as inspiration, we find some new identities of similar type. Each identity immediately implies an infinite family of Rogers-Ramanujan type identities, some of which are well-known identities from the literature. We also use these identities to derive some general identities for integer partitions.  相似文献
