The state of the art and the project of modernization of the extensive-air-shower array Carpet-2 of the Baksan Neutrino Observatory of the Institute for Nuclear Research, Russian Academy of Sciences are described. The modernized array will allow the performance of detailed study of variations in the cosmic ray intensity, the energy spectra and composition of primary cosmic rays in the energy range 1013–1016 eV, and the anisotropy of primary cosmic rays with energies above 1013 eV. 相似文献

Considering the SM Higgs boson mass in the range of (95–235) GeV, we present here a mechanism for indirect searches of this scalar in UHE cosmic rays interactions. The mechanism is the decay of Higgs bosons which are produced through bubble formation due to vacuum excitation in an UHE cosmic rays interactions with air nuclei. We develop a model of hadronic interaction based on algorithms of the GENCL code of the UA5 experiment of CERN and some physics of CORSIKA code (Karlsruhe report), incorporating a fraction of energy transfer to bubble formation through vacuum excitation and subsequent multiparticle production via conversion of Higgs boson to heavy fermion pairs. Such events are expected to have high multiplicity and excess muons. This mechanism has significant effect starting from E
P 1018eV. It is found that the average muon number decreases gradually upto 175 GeV Higgs boson mass and remain practically constant thereafter for all primary energies (E
P) above 1018 eV and for all fractions of energy transfer (f
e 0.01–0.5). The fluctuation of muon multiplicity decreases with E
P and increases very slowly with Higgs mass upto 175 GeV, remaining practically invariant thereafter. 相似文献

We study the B c meson rare decay in order to search for the Majorana neutrino signal. It is found that the corresponding decay rate is sensitive to the Majorana neutrino mass and mixing angles. The signal of B±c→ l±1l±2 M induced by the Majorana neutrino within the mass region mπmnmB may be observed at LHCb. 相似文献

Using observation data of the Yangbajing extensive air shower array from October 2000 to September 2001, the TeV gamma rays from the shell-like SNR G40.5-0.5 direction were detected. A region with the highest excess of 4.4σ was found using two dimensional analysis method.The position of EGRET unidentified source GeV J1907+0557 is near the centrer of the region. 相似文献

Temperature-dependent 57Fe Mössbauer spectroscopy has been used to elucidate the hyperfine parameters and dynamical behavior of the metal atom in several organo-iron complexes which have one or more η5 P5 ring structures as ligated groups. The spin-lattice relaxation of the (paramagnetic) one-electron oxidation products occurs on a time scale fast compared to τ1/2 (ME) at temperatures in the range 85 < T < 320 K. 相似文献

Experiments with the long-lived, high-K isomer 178Hfm2 have been recognized as intriguing tests of multi-quasiparticle state structures and their interactions with external radiation.
A triggered release of the energy stored by this isomer, 2.5 MeV per nucleus or 1.2 GJ/gram, in the form of a gamma-ray burst
might prove valuable for numerous applications. The observation of “accelerated” decay of 178Hfm2 during irradiation by 90-keV bremsstrahlung has already been reported, but with poor statistical accuracy due to the experimental
approach. That approach employed single Ge detectors to seek increases in the areas of peaks at energies corresponding to
transitions in the spontaneous decay of the isomer. The need for better quality data to confirm those results has motivated
the development of improved detection concepts. One such concept was utilized here to perform an initial search for low-energy
(<20 keV) triggered gamma emission from 178Hfm2 using the YSU miniball detector array.

The method of separating muons and hadrons recorded by the Muon Detector of the Carpet-2 air shower array of Baksan Neutrino Observatory (Institute for Nuclear Research, Russian Academy of Sciences) is described. The results of studying characteristics of the muon and hadron components of extensive air showers (EAS) with N e ≥ 105 are presented. For the range of distances 40–55 m from shower axes the numbers of hadrons with energies higher than 30 GeV and muons with energies above 1 GeV are obtained as functions of the shower size N e . 相似文献

A long-term and stable operation of the LVD and BUST detectors in searches for neutrino bursts from gravitational star collapses is demonstrated, and a random origin of background pulses in the detectors is confirmed thereby. The experimental results obtained by means of the LSD and BUST detectors on February 23, 1987, are considered in detail. The probability for the possible backgroundmimicked coincidences of clusters of pulses recorded in the LSD detector at 2 : 52 UT with a group of correlations of pulses within 1 s between LSD and BUST in the interval from 1 : 45 to 3 : 45 UT is estimated. Also, coincidences of the background pulses in the LVD and BUST detectors over the period of about eight years are analyzed. The results obtained in this way give sufficient grounds to conclude that the cluster of pulses recorded by the LSD detector on February 23, 1987, at 2 : 52 UT and the coincidences of individual pulses in the LSD and BUST detectors are events associated with the gravitational collapse of SN 1987A. 相似文献

The arrival directions of 40 neutrino events with energies ?100 TeV, observed by the IceCube experiment, are studied. Their distribution in the Galactic latitude and in the angular distance to the Galactic Center allow searching for the Milky-Way disk and halo-related components, respectively. No statistically significant evidence for the disk component is found, though even 100% disk origin of the flux is allowed at the 90% confidence level. Contrary, the Galactic Center–Anticenter dipole anisotropy, specific for dark-matter decays (annihilation) or for interactions of cosmic rays with the extended halo of the circumgalactic gas, is clearly favored over the isotropic distribution (the probability of fluctuation of the isotropic signal is ~2%). 相似文献

Neutrino oscillation experiments provide the first evidence on non-zero neutrino masses and indicate new physics beyond the standard model. With Majorana neutrinos introduced to acquire tiny neutrino masses, it leads to the existence of more than three neutrino species, implying that the ordinary neutrino mixing matrix is only a part of the whole extended unitary mixing matrix and thus no longer unitary. We give a parameterization for a non-unitary neutrino mixing matrix under seesaw framework and further present a method to test the unitarity of the ordinary neutrino mixing matrix. 相似文献
