We study biwave maps and equivariant biwave maps. We obtain the formulations for equivariant biwave maps into various spaces by applying eigenmaps between spheres. We compute the biwave fields of inclusions into warped product manifolds and construct examples of biwave maps. We finally investigate the stress bi-energy tensors and the conservation laws of biwave maps.  相似文献

We address the problem of degree of polarization (DOP) estimation in images limited by additive Gaussian detector noise. We derive and analyze the probability density function (PDF) of the pixelwise DOP estimate, which is shown to have significantly different statistical properties than when noise is Gamma distributed (speckle). We then determine the Cramer-Rao Lower Bound and the maximum likelihood estimator of the DOP. We deduce from this study practical solutions for characterizing and reducing the noise in these images.  相似文献

We construct the invertible map of the spin-state density operator onto the quasiprobability distribution of three continuous variables. We discuss the connection of this map with two-mode electromagnetic-field oscillators. We give the inversion formula for the spin-density matrix in terms of the Hermite polynomials. We examine the connection of the map constructed with the spin-tomographic representation. We consider the problem of the magnetic-moment rotation in the magnetic field in the suggested representation of spin states.  相似文献

We study the effect of gravitational force upon traffic flow on a highway with sag, uphill, and downhill. We extend the optimal velocity model to take into account the gravitational force which acts on vehicles as an external force. We study the traffic states and jamming transitions induced by the slope of highway. We derive the fundamental diagrams (flow-density diagrams) for the traffic flow on the sag, the uphill, and downhill by using the extended optimal velocity model. We clarify where and when traffic jams occur on a highway with gradients. We show the relationship between densities before and after the jam. We derive the dependence of the fundamental diagram on the slope of gradients.  相似文献

We study the effective dielectric constant of a dilute, polydisperse suspension of spheres embedded in a uniform background. We consider a frequency region where the dipole polarizability of individual spheres exhibits a resonance. We evaluate the effective dielectric constant to second order in the volume fraction employing the dipole approximation, which in previous work has been shown to be applicable in resonance. We apply our results to suspensions of spheres with identical and uniform dielectric constant, assuming a log-normal distribution of sphere radii.  相似文献

We propose a theoretical model of random binary assemblies of spheres at any packing fraction. We use the notion of geometrical neighborhood between grains that is defined through two generalizations of the Vorono? tessellation: the radical (or Laguerre) tessellation and the navigation map. The model is tested on different numerical packings. We find a weak local segregation for high packing fraction. Empirical analysis of the evolution of a scientific collaboration network   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
We present an analysis of the temporal evolution of a scientific coauthorship network, the genetic programming network. We find evidence that the network grows according to preferential attachment, with a slightly sublinear rate. We empirically find how a giant component forms and develops, and we characterize the network by several other time-varying quantities: the mean degree, the clustering coefficient, the average path length, and the degree distribution. We find that the first three statistics increase over time in the growing network; the degree distribution tends to stabilize toward an exponentially truncated power-law. We finally suggest an effective network interpretation that takes into account the aging of collaboration relationships.  相似文献

We consider (e,2e) processes on the 2s and 2p shells of argon and magnesium. We present triple differential cross sections in coplanar asymmetric geometry calculated in the Plane Wave Born, 1st Born and Distorted Wave Born approximations. We show that the currently available relative experiments can not easily distinguish between these approximations. We make proposals for relative experiments where the difference between these approaches can be more readily observed.  相似文献

We describe an algorithm for estimating the radial component of the velocity of a sound source based on information about frequency shifts of the interference maxima of the field and consider the problem of its interference immunity. We obtain the limit estimate for the value of the input signal/noise ratio when the algorithm is working effectively. We present results of computational and field experiments using a single receiver and a horizontal array. We compare the experimental data with analytic interference immunity estimates.  相似文献

We discuss results of simulations of the Hubbard model of interacting electrons on a lattice. We start with a brief discussion of methodology and point out some of the outstanding problems. We then discuss results of simulations of the model in three, two, and one dimension, particularly in connection with its magnetic and superconducting properties. We investigate the effects of spontaneously generated coherence (SGC) on the electromagnetically induced transparency features in a four-level Lambda-type system. We show that double-transparency windows and a controllable narrow absorption peak can be obtained with the presence of SGC. We present an equivalent system without the rigorous requirement of close-lying levels to observe the phenomena. We also experimentally demonstrate the corresponding features in a rubidium atomic beam.  相似文献

We consider quantum plasmas of electrons and motionless ions. We describe separate evolution of spin-up and spin-down electrons. We present corresponding set of quantum hydrodynamic equations. We assume that plasmas are placed in an uniform external magnetic field. We account different occupation of spin-up and spin-down quantum states in equilibrium degenerate plasmas. This effect is included via equations of state for pressure of each species of electrons. We study oblique propagation of longitudinal waves. We show that instead of two well-known waves (the Langmuir wave and the Trivelpiece–Gould wave), plasmas reveal four wave solutions. New solutions exist due to both the separate consideration of spin-up and spin-down electrons and different occupation of spin-up and spin-down quantum states in equilibrium state of degenerate plasmas.  相似文献

We study the conditions and features of the polariton mode lasing in traps for the Bose condensation of dipolar excitons. We discuss the spectral linewidth of lasing modes and the effects of spatial and spectral inhomogeneity of the exciton distribution. We study in detail the possibility of the polariton mode lasing in the vicinity of the Bose condensation threshold. We analyze the impact of the inhomogeneous broadening of the exciton line on the stability of stationary lasing. We also propose additional experiments aimed at obtaining more information on the polariton mode lasing in semiconductor structures for the Bose condensation of excitons.  相似文献

We investigate the selective forces that promote the emergence of modularity in nature. We demonstrate the spontaneous emergence of modularity in a population of individuals that evolve in a changing environment. We show that the level of modularity correlates with the rapidity and severity of environmental change. The modularity arises as a synergistic response to the noise in the environment in the presence of horizontal gene transfer. We suggest that the hierarchical structure observed in the natural world may be a broken-symmetry state, which generically results from evolution in a changing environment.  相似文献

In this Letter we study a turbulence decay mechanism in the superfluid liquid. We proceed with developement of master equation approach introduced Copeland, Kibble, Steer and Nemirovskii. We obtain the full rate of reconnection in presence of normal component. We also discuss different random-walk models of vortex filaments. We obtain the expression for the reconnection rate in the nonstationary vortex tangle for these models. The equation for the full number of vortex loops is derived. We consider the domain of applicability of general relativity (GR), as a classical theory of gravity, by considering its applications to a variety of settings of physical interest as well as its relationship with real observations. We argue that, as it stands, GR is deficient whether it is treated as a microscopic or a macroscopic theory of gravity. We briefly discuss some recent attempts at removing this shortcoming through the construction of a macroscopic theory of gravity. We point out that such macroscopic extensions of GR are likely to be nonunique and involve non-Riemannian geometrical frameworks.  相似文献
