Nonresonant cascaded acousto-optic mode coupling under an overall phase-matching condition is presented, where phase matching is not satisfied for each of the coupling stages but the sum of the two acoustic momenta matches the optical phase detuning between the source mode and the destination mode. As a special nonresonant cascaded case, conversion from LP(01) to LP(21) and LP(02) driven by a single acoustic frequency is predicted theoretically and demonstrated experimentally.  相似文献

The acousto-optic mode coupling from core to LP11(cl) mode of a dispersion-compensating fiber excited by two acoustic waves with orthogonal perturbations is studied by use of a novel composite piezoelectric transducer. Highly polarization-dependent mode-selective spectra are observed that are due to coherent acousto-optic coupling between the core and various constituent cladding modes. Potential applications for implementing an all-fiber wavelength-tunable polarization analyzer are also discussed.  相似文献

An all-fiber, narrowband, tunable polarization controller is proposed and demonstrated. The device is based on coherent acousto-optic mode coupling induced by two orthogonal acoustic waves on a dispersion-compensating fiber. The cooperative coupling between the two polarizations of the core mode and the TE01 cladding mode through the two gratings permits indirect coupling between the two polarizations of the core mode with nearly 100% efficiency, which makes the polarization-controlling function possible. Experimental results verify the operation of the polarization controller with an insertion loss of <1 dB.  相似文献

On the basis of tearing mode theory a simple but physically explicit model of the evolution of toroidally coupled rotating magnetic islands has been developed. The basic mechanism identified by the model in the island evolution is the locking in phase of rotating islands that leads to rapid destabilisation of an initially stable mode. Destabilisation of marginally stable (2, 1) and (3, 1) modes is analysed in several scenarios. It is shown that mode coupling is an effective way of destabilising a m=3 island in a low- plasma. The numerical examples presented show the individual roles of coupling, inertia and a resistive wall. The model was applied for the analysis of MHD observations of an ASDEX discharge. The propagation characteristics of the higher-order modes in oversize rectangular-groove guides have been analyzed by using the Method of Lines. In the analysis, the cutoff wavenumbers, field distributions and leaky phenomena are presented and discussed. The leaky mode concept introduced in this paper has been found to be useful for analysis. We demonstrate a new method of optical pulse generation in regeneratively mode-locked fiber ring lasers (RML-FRLs). The method is based on generating dominant longitudinal modes in the fiber ring cavity by means of a composite cavity structure and their intermode beating at the photodetector incorporated in the regenerative feedback loop. The beat signal is then used as a modulation signal to generate optical pulses in a regenerative mode-locking scheme, thereby eliminating the requirement for a high-Q rf bandpass filter in a conventional RML-FRL. Optical pulses with a repetition frequency of 3.6 GHz have been generated successfully with a supermode noise suppression of more than 48 dB and a low phase noise of -85 dBc/Hz at 10 kHz offset from the carrier frequency.  相似文献

In this paper, the issue of using higher-order finite difference schemes to handle the azimuthal derivative term in a three-dimensional parabolic equation based model is addressed.The three-dimensional penetrable wedge benchmark problem is chosen to illustrate the accuracy and efficiency of the proposed schemes. Both point source and modal initializations of the pressure field are considered. For each higher-order finite difference scheme used in azimuth, the convergence of the numerical solution with respect to the azimuth is investigated and the CPU times are given. Some comparisons with solutions obtained from another 3-D model [J. A. Fawcett, J. Acoust. Soc. Am. 93, 2627-2632 (1993)] are presented. The numerical simulations show that the use of a higher-order scheme in azimuth allows one to reduce the required number of points in the azimuthal direction while still obtaining accurate solutions. The higher-order schemes have approximately the same efficiency as a FFT-based approach (in fact, may outperform it slightly); however, the finite difference approach has the advantage that it may be more flexible than the FFT approach for various PE approximations.  相似文献

We present theoretical and experimental studies on nonlinear beam propagation in lithium niobate waveguide arrays utilizing higher-order second harmonic bands. We find that the implementation of the higher-order second harmonic bands leads to a number of new effects. The combined interaction of two second harmonic bands with a propagating fundamental beam can lead to a complete inhibition of nonlinear effects or to the formation of discrete spatial solitons, depending only on the wavelength of the fundamental wave. Furthermore we analyze the properties of discrete solitons, allowing for linear coupling of the second harmonic. Here we predict and demonstrate experimentally a power dependent phase transition of the soliton topology.  相似文献

The study of the dependence of surface mode dispersion on the termination of multilayer stacks reveals interesting features. For stratified media with high-refractive-index contrasts, surface modes can shift across several bandgaps if the thickness of the final layer is changed. The distance to the photonic band edge influences the decay length of the mode inside the multilayer stack. In the middle of the bandgap, the electromagnetic energy is concentrated in the final layer of the crystal, while near bandgap edges the decay length extends over several periods. Additional evidence suggests that surface modes behave like guided modes that can couple with the extended Bloch modes and give rise to evanescent field profiles oscillating along several periods.  相似文献

SMS光纤结构是一种近年来新兴的光纤器件,该结构光纤具有结构简单、易于实现、成本低廉、灵敏度高和无温度应力交叉敏感等特性.在光纤传感技术领域是一种继光纤光栅之后的具有广泛发展前景的光纤器件.从理论上分析了SMS结构和SMS级联结构的光纤传感原理,并从实验上研究了SMS结构和级联SMS结构的温度传感特性.实验表明:对于SMS结构光纤传感器,随着温度的增加,特征波长移动量逐渐增加,向长波方向漂移了4.05 nm,其传感器的温度灵敏度为15.76 pm/℃;对于级联SMS结构的光纤传感器,级联后不改变原来SMS结构的中心波长的位置,两个SMS结构仍然是独立的,不相互影响.所以说将两个SMS结构串联是可行的,可以用于温度和应力的同时测量,也可以用于分布式光纤传感器.  相似文献

We consider the coupling between two photorefractive unidirectional ring resonators. The first resonator is driven by an external laser beam via photorefractive two-wave mixing. The internal oscillating beam is then employed to drive the second ring resonator via the same mechanism. Closed form solutions for the oscillation intensities and frequencies are given, and their numerical results are presented and discussed.  相似文献

Using a theory of mode-mode coupling between the two-phonon 0+ mode and the pairing-vibrational mode, we have extensively investigated the first excited 0+(022) states in spherical and transitional nuclei. The results tell us that the 02+ states in a wide range of nuclei are strongly mixed states of both the modes. By making use of these results, the matrix elements for the E0 transitions from the 02+ states to the ground states are calculated for the Zn, Ge, Se, Kr, Sr, Zr, Mo, Ru, Pd, Cd and Sn isotopes. For some of the Cd and Sn isotopes, the matrix elements between the 02+ and 02+ states are also obtained. These numerical calculations make a rather good fit to the E0 experiments.  相似文献

The well-known Jones matrix formalism, which can be directly applied to the propagation of the polarization of fundamental (TEM(00)) laser resonator modes, has to be modified for higher-order transverse modes. It is shown that this can be done in straightforward manner by using N x N matrices instead of the 2 x 2 Jones matrices, where N denotes the number of orthogonal polarization states of the transverse mode under consideration. The most common case of TEM(01) Hermite-Gaussian modes, where N is four, is discussed in detail.  相似文献

使用非线性动力学中的一维和二维耦合格子模型研究两个声光双稳系统的时空混沌同步.将驱动系统的输出以适当的比例耦合到响应系统并进行均衡, 能实现两系统的时空混沌同步.利用计算最大条件Lyapunov指数, 给出达到同步所需的最小耦合强度与系统参数的关系. 数值实验表明,在小噪声影响时仍然可以实现两系统的同步, 此法具有一定的抗干扰能力. 关键词: 单向耦合同步 时空混沌 布拉格声光双稳系统  相似文献

In the last few years, hybrid systems consisting of punctual sources and metallic nanostructures have been assembled and studied. Furthermore, the radiative coupling between the two counterparts has become a crucial aspect to be explored in nanophotonics and plasmonics. In this paper a numerical framework based on the Discrete Dipole Approximation is presented as a simple computational scheme to analyze the decay dynamics of an emitter when it is located in the near proximities of metallic nanoparticles. This approach allows to go beyond the analytically solved cases and to predict the optical response of more complex shaped nanoparticles. Here the excitation of dipole and higher-order modes is studied as a function of the applied radiation with a particular attention paid to the changes induced in the response by approaching the source to the metal. Numerical results, obtained for Ag spheroids and conically shaped nanoparticles, are explained by analyzing the charge density induced on the surface of the nanoparticles, this allowing to distinguish dark from radiative modes in a straightforward way.  相似文献
