Laser Compton light sources are potential candidates for the next generation of high-brightness X or γ-ray sources. When increasing the laser power to obtain intense X-ray laser, nonlinear Compton scattering happens. Nonlinear Compton scattering of linearly polarized laser beam is discussed in this paper. A complete transition probability formula is introduced and the polarization properties of final photons are discussed for different conditions.  相似文献

In the strong uniform magnetic field, the noncommutative plane (NCP) caused by the lowest Landau level (LLL) effect, and QED with NCP (QED-NCP) are studied. Being similar to the condensed matter theory of quantum Hall effect, an effective filling factor f(B) is introduced to characterize the possibility that the electrons stay on the LLL. The analytic and numerical results of the differential cross section for the process of backward Compton scattering in accelerator with unpolarized or polarized initial photons are calculated. The existing data of BL38B2 in Spring-8 have been analyzed roughly and compared with the numerical predictions primitively. We propose a precise measurement of the differential cross sections of backward Compton scattering in a strong  相似文献

评述了近半个世纪来核子结构研究的主要进展,着重评述了近十年来用极化轻子深度非弹散射研究核子自旋、磁矩结构的进展.也还评述了当前核子结构研究中的重要问题. The essential developments of the nucleon structure studies in the last half century are reviewed. The nucleon spin and magnetic moment structure studies with the polarized lepton nucleon deep inelastic scattering in the recent years are specially analyzed. Small particle light scattering can produce light with polarization characteristics different from those of the incident beam. An analytical solution to the scattering by a spheroid with inclusion for an on-axis polarized Gaussian beam incidence is provided within the generalized Lorenz-Mie theory framework. The shapes of the inclusion can be spherical, confocal spheroid, or non-confocal spheroid. The Muller scattering matrix elements are computed for plane wave incidence or Gaussian light beam incidence. In this study,light-by-light(LBL)scattering with initial polarized Compton backscattered photons at the CLIC,induced by axion-like particles(ALPs),is investigated.The total cross sections are calculated assuming CP-even coupling of the pseudoscalar ALP to photons.The 95%C.L.exclusion region for the ALP mass ma and its coupling constant f is presented.The results are compared with CLIC bounds previously obtained for the unpolar-ized case.It is shown that the bounds onf for the polarized beams in the region ma=1000-2000 GeV with colli-sion energy of 3000 GeV and integrated luminosity of 4000 fb-1are on average 1.5 times stronger than the bounds for the unpolarized beams.Moreover,our CLIC bounds are stronger than those for all current exclusion regions for ma>80 GeV.In particular,they are more restrictive than the limits that follow from the ALP-mediated LBL scatter-ing at the LHC.  相似文献

Monte Carlo algorithm and Stokes-Mueller formalism are used to simulate the propagation behavior of polarized light in turbid media. The influence of single scattering and multiple scattering on backscattered Mueller matrix in turbid media is discussed. Single and double scattering photons form the major part of backscattered polarization patterns, while multiple scattering photons present more likely as background. Further quantitative analyses show that single scattering approximation and double scattering approximation are quite accurate when discussing the polarization patterns near the incident point.  相似文献

The exclusive electroproduction of pseudoscalar and vector mesons was studied with the HERMES spectrometer at the DESY laboratory by scattering 27.6 GeV positron and electron beams off a transversely polarized hydrogen target.The results are compared to calculations based on generalized parton distributions,some of which are sensitive to the contribution of the total angular momentum of the quarks to the proton spin.  相似文献

One of the attractive features of the laser Compton scattering is the easy control of polarization of the produced high energy photons that duplicates polarization of the applied laser beam. The γ ray with energy up to 22 MeV and intensity of 109—1011s 1 are expected to be produced by Compton backscattering of CO2 laser photons on the 3.5 GeV electrons bunches in the Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility (SSRF). The static (electric and magnetic) polarizabilities of the proton are known from measurements of low-energy Compton scattering of real photons. However, no experimental data are so far available about its spin polarizabilities, which describe the response of the proton spin to a varying electromagnetic field. These fundamental structure constants can be obtained in the most model-independent way from measurements of double-polarized Compton scattering at energies below the pion threshold using a polarized photon beam and a polarized proton target. An active polarized target based on polystyrene doped with a scintillator allows recoil protons to be detected directly in the target material, background from the coherent Compton effect on heavier nuclei (12C etc.) to be eliminated and precise data on spin polarizabilities to be obtained.  相似文献

The spin polarizabilities of the nucleon are fundamental structure constants which describe the response of the nucleon spin to an incident polarized photon. The most model-independent way to measure the nucleon spin polarizabilities is the Compton scattering with polarization degrees of freedom. Three Compton scattering asymmetries on the proton were measured in the Δ(1232) region using a polarized incident photon beam and a polarized (or unpolarized) proton target at the Mainz Microtron (MAMI). These asymmetries are sensitive to values of the spin polarizabilities. Fits to asymmetry data were performed using a dispersion model calculation, and a separation of all four proton spin-polarizabilities in the multipole basis was achieved. The values of the proton spin polarizabilities are presented.  相似文献

应用多光子非线性Compton 散射模型、电磁波非线性色散方程和Karpman 方法,研究了 Compton 散射对线偏光在相对论等离子体中调制不稳定性的影响,给出了等离子体的非线性色散、控制和调制不稳定性增 长率的修正方程,并进行了数值模拟。结果表明:与散射前相比,随无量纲化频率值减小,即趋于等离子体临界面处,散射使相同扰动波数引起的调制不稳定性增长率更大,使等离子体临界面处的调制不稳定性增长率较其余位置尤为显著。这是由于散射光使等离子体非线性增强,形成了激光场自聚焦和自成丝的缘故。  相似文献

By using the model of multi-photon nonlinear Compton scattering, the nonlinear dispersion relation and Karpman’s model, the influences of the modulation instability on Compton scattering to the linear polarized light in relativistic plasma were studied, the revised equations on the nonlinear dispersion, the control and the growth rate of the modulation instability were given out, and these equations are simulated. The results show that under the same perturbation wave numbers, the even big rate of the modulation instability near the plasma surface are taken place by Compton scattering along with the decreasing of the numbers of the no gauge frequency than before Compton scattering, and the even marked growth rate of the modulation instability near the plasma surface are taken place near the plasma surface than other places. Because the plasma nonlinear is increased by the scattering, the self-focusing and self-turned fine silk are formed.  相似文献

A Monte-Carlo simulation of energy spectra of Compton double scattered X-rays has been made as functions of the incident energy of elliptically polarized X-rays and the atomic number of samples having different shapes and volumes. This simulation is based on the previous one made by one of the authors (N.S.), in which completely circularly polarized γ-rays were only assumed, and is improved to meet the multiple scattering correction on experimental Compton profiles measured with linearly or elliptically polarized synchrotron radiations. Measurements of azimuthal cross-section asymmetries from deeply virtual Compton scattering on transversely and longitudinally polarized hydrogen and longitudinally polarized deuterium targets at HERMES are reported. By comparing the HERMES results on the transverse target-spin asymmetry with theoretical calculations based on a phenomenological model of generalized parton distributions, a model-dependent constraint on the total angular momentum carried by quarks in the nucleon is obtained.  相似文献
