Equations of fragmentation describing e.g. the polymer degradation, despite their apparent simplicity, have numerous non‐typical features. One of them is the existence of multiple solutions. In this paper, applying classical results of Hille and Phillips, we explain their occurrence and prove that nevertheless the uniqueness holds for a large class of physically reasonable solutions. In this paper a class of weakly singular Volterra integral equations with an infinite set of solutions is investigated. Among the set of solutions only one particular solution is smooth and all others are singular at the origin. The numerical solution of this class of equations has been a difficult topic to analyze and has received much previous investigation. The aim of this paper is to improve the convergence rates by a graded mesh method. The convergence rates are proved and a variety of numerical examples are provided to support the theoretical findings.  相似文献

By using generalized invariants, we describe a method for solving a class of higher‐order nonautonomous difference equations. Solvability of the equations of order two, three, and four are studied in detail. Our results explain and extend some problems in the literature. As far as we know, the case when the order is four is considered for the first time in this paper. For the equations of second order, we also give an explanation how they can be obtained in a natural way.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the resonance problem of a class of singular quasilinear elliptic equations with respect to its higher near-eigenvalues. Under a generalized Landesman–Lazer condition, it is proved that the resonance problem admits at least one nontrivial solution in weighted Sobolev spaces. The proof is based upon applying the Galerkin-type technique, the Brouwer’s fixed-point theorem and a compact embedding theorem of weighted Sobolev spaces by Shapiro.  相似文献

In this paper we study a class of parabolic equations subject to a nonlocal boundary condition. The problem is a generalized model for a theory of ion-diffusion in channels. By using energy method, we first derive some a priori estimates for solutions and then prove that the problem has a unique global solution. Moreover, under some assumptions on the nonlinear boundary condition, it is shown that the solution blows up in finite time. Finally, the long-time behavior of solution to a linear problem is also studied in the paper.  相似文献
