To study the ion‐conductive and dielectric properties of polymer electrolytes based on poly(ethylene carbonate) (PEC) with lithium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide (LiTFSI), the complex permittivity and conductivity were measured using broadband dielectric spectroscopy. The temperature dependence of the relaxation frequency and ionic conductivity for PEC‐LiTFSI electrolytes (1 – 200 mol%) indicates that the segmental motion of PEC chains decreases with the addition of just 1 mol% of Li salt and increases with increasing concentration above 10 mol%. According to the Walden rule for PEC‐based electrolytes, the value of deviation from the reference line increased, and the fragility and decoupling exponents decreased with increasing salt concentration. These results indicate that there are large numbers of ion pairs and aggregated ions, which imply low ionicity and reduced fragility in highly concentrated PEC‐based electrolytes. Ionic conductivities of the polymer electrolytes prepared from the ionomer (poly(methyl methacrylate-co-alkali metal methacrylate)), lithium perchlorate, and ethylene carbonate as a plasticizer, were studied as a function of the ion content and the alkali-metal cation of the ionomer. It was possible to obtain tough films with room-temperature ionic conductivities of ∼ 10-3 S/cm. The maximum ion conductivities of the polymer electrolytes were obtained at the ion content of 5 mol % for both Li and Na ionomer. The effects of the ion content of the ionomer on the ionic conductivities of the polymer electrolytes were mainly interpreted in terms of the characteristics of the ion aggregate formed in the polymer electrolytes. The thermal dependence of the ionic conductivity was shown to be a non-VTF pattern in some of the polymer electrolytes investigated, which is expected to be due to the presence of the ion aggregate. © John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

Novel composite solid polymer electrolytes (CSPEs) and composite gel polymer electrolytes (CGPEs) have been prepared. CSPE consists of poly(ether-urethane) network polymer, which is superior to poly(ethylene oxide) in mechanical stability due to its cross-linked structure, modified montmorillonite (MMMT) and LiClO4, and CGPE with good mechanical strength comprises of the CSPE and LiClO4–PC (propylene carbonate) solution. The ionic conductivity can be enhanced after the addition of MMMT, and CGPE exhibits ionic conductivity in the order of 10−3 S/cm at room temperature. The temperature dependence of the ionic conductivity of the CSPE follows the Vogel–Tamman–Fulcher (VTF) equation. The effects of MMMT on the interactions in these systems and the possible conduction mechanisms are also discussed.  相似文献

Two series of novel crosslinked siloxane‐based polymers and their complexes with lithium perchlorate (LiClO4) were prepared and characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, solid‐state NMR (13C, 29Si, and 7Li nuclei), and differential scanning calorimetry. Their thermal stability and ionic conductivity of these complexes were also investigated by thermogravimetric and AC impedance measurements. In these polymer networks, poly(propylene oxide) chains with different molecular weights were introduced through self‐synthesized epoxy‐siloxane precursors cured with two curing agents. The glass‐transition temperature (Tg) of these copolymers is dependent on the length of the ether units. The dissolution of LiClO4 considerably increases the Tg of the polyether segments. The dependence of the ionic conductivity was investigated as a function of temperature, LiClO4 concentration, and the molecular weight of the polyether segments. The ion‐transport behavior was affected by the combination of the ionic mobility and number of carrier ions. The 7Li solid‐state NMR line shapes of these polymer complexes suggest a significant interaction between Li+ ions and the polymer matrix, and temperature‐ and LiClO4 concentration‐dependent chemical shifts are correlated with ionic conductivity. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A novel polymer matrix with a polar carbonyl group was designed and used to prepare an all‐solid polymer electrolyte in lithium rechargeable batteries. The ionic conductivity of this type of polymer electrolyte was examined. The relationship between the lithium salt concentration and ionic conductivity was investigated by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. The carbonyl groups in the polymer matrix effectively interacted with the lithium salt, which improved the ionic conductivity at a large range of temperatures. The ionic conductivity of this type of polymer electrolyte was approximately 10?4 S cm?1 at room temperature. The stability of the interface between electrode and electrolyte was evaluated by measuring the alternating current (AC) impedance. Copyright © 2009 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

The conducting properties of solid electrolytes comprising random poly(ethylene oxide-co-propylene oxide) (of 84 : 16 monomer units mole ratio) and lithium, sodium, potassium, cesium, and rubidium salts have been studied. The systems containing some lithium or sodium salts achieved conductivity levels as high as 10?5–10?4 S/cm at ambient temperature and greater than 10?3 S/cm at 100°C. However, the systems with rubidium and cesium salts exhibit conductivities a few orders of magnitude smaller. DSC studies show that the electrolytes studied are characterized by a high content of an amorphous phase (95–100%). It is suggested that the copolymer exhibits lower complexing abilities than that of poly(ethylene oxide), which results in a higher flexibility of electrolytes containing small cations and poor dissociation of the salts having large cations. © 1995 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

A new type of single-ion conductor with fixed cation was synthesized by spontaneous anionic polymerization of 4-vinylpyridine in the presence of short polyethylene oxide ( PEO ) chains as alkylating agents. These comblike polymers have low Tgs and are amorphous with the shorter PEO s. Their conductivities are unaffected by the nature of the anion ( Br , ClO 4, and tosylate) and are controlled by the free volume and the mobility of the pendant cation. By comparison of the results at constant free volume, it is shown that the charge density decreases with the increasing length of pendant PEO demonstrating that PEO acts only as a plasticizing agent. Best conductivity results (σ = 10−5 S cm−1 at 60°C) are obtained with PEO side chains of molecular weight 350. With this sample, the conductivity in the presence of various amounts of added salt (LiTFSI) was studied. A best value of 10−4 S cm−1 at 60°C is obtained with a molar ratio EO/Li of 10. It is shown that, over the range of examined concentrations (0.2–1.3 mol Li kg−1), the reduced conductivity σr/c increases linearly with increasing salt concentration showing that the ion mobility increases continuously. Such behavior is quite unusual since in this concentration range a maximum is generally observed with PEO systems. To interpret this result and by analogy with the behavior of this type of polymer in solution, it is proposed that the conformation of these polymers in the solid state is segregated with the P4VP skeleton more or less confined inside the dense coils surrounded by the PEO side chains. Under the influence of the increasing salt concentration, this microphase separation vanishes progressively: The LiTFSI salt exchanges with the tosylate anions and acts as a miscibility improver agent. © 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Studies on solid polymer electrolyte systems based on semi-interpenetrating polymer networks of poly(ethylene oxide)-polyurethane and poly(acrylonitrile) (PEO-PU/PAN) doped with lithium trifluoromethanesulfonate (LiCF3SO3) is reported. Room temperature FT-IR analysis indicates a salt solvation process that occurs predominantly in the polyether segments of the semi-IPNs and incorporation of salt is also seen to favor a morphological change in the matrix with a transition from semi-crystalline to amorphous phase. From the relative band areas a critical concentration (Cc) of salt can be identified where concentration of ionic species, morphology and amount of transient crosslinks is optimal to impart maximum conductivity, which is in agreement with the room temperature conductivity results. Thermal analysis of the semi-IPN lends further support to this observation. The temperature dependence of conductivity is found to follow the Arrhenius behavior at low temperatures (∼ upto 328 K) and VTF dependence at higher temperatures. This crossover in temperature dependent conductivity is attributed to the change in the phase morphology of the semi-IPNs beyond the crystalline melting temperature (Tm1) of the polyether segments.  相似文献

Semi-crystalline poly(vinyl alcohol) was modified by UV radiation with acrylic acid monomer to get interpenetrating poly(acrylic acid) modified poly(vinyl alcohol), PVAAA, membrane. The stability of various PVAAA membranes in water, 2 M CH3OH, 2 M H2SO4, and 40 wt% KOH aqueous media were evaluated. It was found that the stability of PVAAA membrane is stable in 40 wt% KOH solution. The PVAAA membranes were characterized by differential scanning calorimetry, X-ray diffraction, and thermogravimetry analysis. These results show that (1) the crystallinity in PVAAA decreased with increasing the content of poly(acrylic acid) in the PVAAA membranes. (2) The melting point of the PVAAA membrane is reduced with increasing the content of poly(acrylic acid) in the membrane. (3) Three stages of thermal degradation were found for pure PVA. Compared to pure PVA, the temperature of thermal degradation increased for the PVAAA membrane. The various PVAAA membranes were immersed in KOH solution to form polymer electrolyte membranes, PVAAA-KOH, and their performances for alkaline solid polymer electrolyte were conducted. At room temperature, the ionic conductivity increased from 0.044 to 0.312 S/cm. The result was due to the formation of interpenetrating polymer chain of poly(acrylic acid) in the PVAAA membrane and resulting in the increase of charge carriers in the PVA polymer matrix. Compared to the data reported for different membranes by other studies, our PVAAA membrane are highly ionic conducting alkaline solid polymer electrolytes membranes.  相似文献

The electric field dependence of the optical properties of a series of anion-conducting polymer electrolytes at an ITO–electrolyte interface was investigated. A change in reflectance and refractive index of polymer electrolytes [poly(ethyl methacrylate)]18(Bu3SnX)3Bu4NX where X = Cl, Br, and SCN was observed. This was ascribed to anion accumulation/depletion in the interfacial region. Shorter response times were observed for electrolytes with higher conductivities, illustrating the interrelationship between these two phenomena. © 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. The effect of electron‐beam (4–8 MeV) irradiation on the ionic conductivity of a solid polymer electrolyte, poly(ethylene glycol) complexed with LiClO4, was studied. A large enhancement of the conductivity of nearly two orders of magnitude was observed for the highest dose of irradiation (15 kGy) used. The samples were characterized with differential scanning calorimetry, matrix‐assisted laser desorption/ionization, and electron spin resonance spectroscopy. Although no free radicals were present in the irradiated samples, a decrease in the glass‐transition temperature and an increase in the amorphous fraction were observed. Even though pure poly(ethylene glycol) underwent considerable fragmentation, unexpectedly, no significant fragmentation was observed in the polymer–salt complexes. The enhancement of the conductivity was attributed to an increase in the amorphous fraction of the systems and also to an increase in the flexibility of the polymer chains due to the irradiation. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The direct preparation of proton conducting poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) graft copolymer electrolyte membranes using atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) is demonstrated. Here, direct initiation of the secondary chlorines of PVC facilitates grafting of a sulfonated monomer. A series of proton conducting graft copolymer electrolyte membranes, i.e. poly(vinyl chloride)‐g‐poly(styrene sulfonic acid) (PVC‐g‐PSSA) were prepared by ATRP using direct initiation of the secondary chlorines of PVC. The successful syntheses of graft copolymers were confirmed by 1H‐NMR and FT‐IR spectroscopy. The images of transmission electron microscopy (TEM) presented the well‐defined microphase‐separated structure of the graft copolymer electrolyte membranes. All the properties of ion exchange capacity (IEC), water uptake, and proton conductivity for the membranes continuously increased with increasing PSSA contents. The characterization of the membranes by thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA) also demonstrated their high thermal stability up to 200°C. The membranes were further crosslinked using UV irradiation after converting chlorine atoms to azide groups, as revealed by FT‐IR spectroscopy. After crosslinking, water uptake significantly decreased from 207% to 84% and the tensile strength increased from 45.2 to 71.5 MPa with a marginal change of proton conductivity from 0.093 to 0.083 S cm?1, which indicates that the crosslinked PVC‐g‐PSSA membranes are promising candidates for proton conducting materials for fuel cell applications. Methacrylate‐functionalized poly(ethylene oxide‐co‐ethylene carbonate) macromonomers were prepared in two steps by the anionic ring‐opening polymerization of ethylene carbonate at 180 °C, with potassium methoxide as the initiator, followed by the reaction of the terminal hydroxyl groups of the polymers with methacryloyl chloride. The molecular weight of the polymer went through a maximum after approximately 45 min of polymerization, and the content of ethylene carbonate units in the polymer decreased with the reaction time. A polymer having a number‐average molecular weight of 2650 g mol?1 and an ethylene carbonate content of 28 mol % was selected and used to prepare a macromonomer, which was subsequently polymerized by UV irradiation in the presence of different concentrations of lithium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide salt. The resulting self‐supportive crosslinked polymer electrolyte membranes reached ionic conductivities of 6.3 × 10?6 S cm?1 at 20 °C. The coordination of the lithium ions by both the ether and carbonate oxygens in the polymer structure was indicated by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The sunlight is the largest single available source of clean and renewable energy to ensure human society’s sustainable development. Owing to their low production cost and high energy conversion efficiency, dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) have been regarded as good alternatives to conventional photovoltaic devices. Herein, a series of composite electrolytes based on poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) and the binary ionic liquids 1-propyl-3-methy-imidazolium iodide ([PMIm]I) and 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium thiocyanate ([EMIm][SCN]) were prepared and then applied to fabricate six DSSCs. The composite electrolytes were characterized by fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIS), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and electrochemical impedance spectra (EIS). It was shown that the addition of binary ionic liquids would reduce the degree of crystallinity of PEO, thus improving the ionic conductivities of the electrolytes by about 2 orders of magnitude. Investigation on the photovoltaic performances of these DSSCs showed that the fill factor (FF) could reach up to 0.67 and energy conversion efficiency (η) could reach up to 4.04% under AM 1.5 full sunlight (100 mW/cm2).  相似文献

In this study, modified poly(glycidyl methacrylate)-based films for gel electrolyte were prepared by an in situ UV photopolymerization technique. The effects of adding ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EGDMA) to the polymer host were studied through X-ray diffraction analysis and differential scanning calorimetry. The results from Fourier transform-infrared spectra indicate complete polymerization among the monomers. The addition of EGDMA to the formulation of gel polymer electrolyte increased the loading of 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium bis(fluoromethylsulfonyl)imide up to 200 wt.% with the highest value of 8.2 × 10?4 S cm?1. All the gel polymer electrolyte membranes obeyed the Arrhenius law.  相似文献

The polymer electrolytes composed of poly(acrylonitrile‐co‐lithium methacrylate) [P(AN‐co‐LiMA)], ethylene carbonate (EC), and LiClO4 salts have been prepared. The ion groups in the P(AN‐co‐LiMA) were found to prevent EC from crystallization through their ion–dipole interactions with the polar groups in the EC. This suppression of the EC crystallization could lead to the enhancement of the ion conductivity at subambient temperature. The polymer electrolytes based on the PAN ionomer with 4 mol % ion content exhibited ion conductivities of 2.4 × 10−4 S/cm at −10°C and 1.9 × 10−3 S/cm at 25°C by simply using EC as a plasticizer. In the polymer electrolytes based on the PAN ionomer, ion motions seemed to be coupled with the segmental motions of the polymer chain due to the presence of the ion–dipole interaction between the ion groups in the ionomer and the polar groups in the EC, while the ion transport in the PAN‐based polymer electrolytes was similar to that of the liquid electrolytes.
