We present experimental results on the information transmission and storage via stochastic resonance in circuits designed and built around Schmitt triggers (STs). First, we investigate the performance of a transmission line comprised of five STs and show it to exhibit stochastic resonance. Each ST in the line is fed with white Gaussian noise, and the first ST is driven by a non-return-to-zero pseudo-random bit sequence with sub-threshold amplitude. Parameters such as bit error rate (Q-factor) are measured (calculated) and shown to exhibit a minimum (maximum) for an optimum amount of noise. Interestingly, we find that system performance degrades with the number of STs as if the system were linear and impaired only by additive Gaussian noise. We then propose and build a 1-bit storage device based on two STs in a loop configuration. We demonstrate that such a system is capable of storing one bit of information only in the presence of noise, and that there is a regime where the efficiency of such a device increases with increasing noise.Our results point to the feasibility of building ‘blocks’ that can transmit, store and eventually process information, whose performance is not only robust against noise, but can actually benefit from it.  相似文献

In coupled systems, symmetry plays an important role for the collective dynamics. We investigate the dynamical response to noise with and without weak periodic modulation for two classes of ring systems. Each ring system consists of unidirectionally coupled bistable elements but in one class, the number of elements is even while in the other class the number is odd. Consequently, the rings without forcing show at a certain coupling strength, either ordering (similar to anti-ferromagnetic chains) or auto-oscillations. Analysing the bifurcations and fixed points of the two ring classes enables us to explain the dynamical response measured to noise and weak modulation. Moreover, by analysing a simplified model, we demonstrate that the response is universal for systems having a directional component in their stochastic dynamics in phase space around the origin.  相似文献

We examine the possibility of obtaining Set–Reset latch logical operation in a symmetric bistable system subjected to OU noise. Three major results are presented. First, we prove the Set–Reset latch logical operation can be obtained driven by OU noise. Second, while increasing the correlation time, the optimal noise band shifts to higher level and becomes wider. Meanwhile, peak performance degrades from 100% accuracy, but the system can still perform reliable logical operation. Third, at fixed noise intensity, the success probability evolves non-monotonically as correlation time increases. The study might provide development of the new paradigm of memory device.  相似文献

We propose a memory device consisting of a ring of two bistable coupled oscillators. We show that this system is capable of storing a single bit and its performance improves with noise, in agreement with previous experimental results obtained with discrete bistable electronic circuits. The stored bit can be retrieved asynchronously and, after a certain synchronization time, the probability of error does not depend on the interrogated oscillator. Memory persistence is shown to be maximized for the same noise range that both minimizes the probability of error and ensures synchronization.  相似文献

The stochastic resonance in an underdamped quartic double-well potential with time delayed feedback is studied numerically. The signal power amplification is employed to characterize the stochastic resonance of the system. Simulation results indicate that: (i) for moderate frequency of the periodic driving, the stochastic resonance is decreased monotonically by increasing the delay time, but at high frequency, the reverse-resonance is induced to transform into a stochastic resonance by time delay; (ii) the damping coefficient has a critical value for which the stochastic resonance is optimum; (iii) a stochastic multi-resonance emerges when the signal power amplification is a function of the driving frequency.  相似文献

介绍了一种低抖动、快前沿高电压重复率触发器,输出参数为:重复率可达100 pulse/s,输出时延约225 ns,抖动约1 ns,前沿约26 ns,脉宽约70 ns,高阻负载上电脉冲的峰值可达-40 kV,重复率为50 pulse/s时,峰值可达-51 kV,单次工作时的峰值可达-60 kV。该触发器主要由控制单元、高压供电单元与脉冲形成单元构成,脉冲形成单元采用了低电感电容对负载快放电的结构,建立开关为氢闸流管。实验发现,氢闸流管存在微导通状态,开关的通道电阻及维持的时间与开关极间的电势差有关;电势差越高,通道电阻越小,微导通状态维持的时间越长。此外,氢闸流管的导通性能受灯丝加热电源的影响明显,当加热电压较低时,氢闸流管导通缓慢,延时与抖动较大,当加热电压过高时,氢闸流管易于发生自击穿。  相似文献

Using the dynamical properties of the polarization bistability that depends on the detuning of the injected light,we propose a novel approach to implement reliable all-optical stochastic logic gates in the cascaded vertical cavity surface emitting lasers(VCSELs) with optical-injection.Here,two logic inputs are encoded in the detuning of the injected light from a tunable CW laser.The logic outputs are decoded from the two orthogonal polarization lights emitted from the optically injected VCSELs.For the same logic inputs,under electro-optic modulation,we perform various digital signal processing(NOT,AND,NAND,XOR,XNOR,OR,NOR) in the all-optical domain by controlling the logic operation of the applied electric field.Also we explore their delay storages by using the mechanism of the generalized chaotic synchronization.To quantify the reliabilities of these logic gates,we further demonstrate their success probabilities.  相似文献

We study the stochastic resonance phenomenon in saturating dynamical models of neural signal transduction, at the synaptic stage, wherein the noise in multipathways enhances the processing of neuronal information integrated by excitatory and inhibitory synaptic currents. For an excitatory synaptic pathway, the additive intervention of an inhibitory pathway reduces the stochastic resonance effect. However, as the number of synaptic pathways increases, the signal transduction is greatly improved for parallel multipathways that feature both excitation and inhibition. The obtained results lead us to the realization that the collective property of inhibitory synapses assists neural signal transmission, and a parallel array of neurons can enhance their responses to multiple synaptic currents by adjusting the contributions of excitatory and inhibitory currents.  相似文献

In this paper, we aim to explore the mean extinction rate and the phenomena of the stochastic resonance (SR) for a metapopulation system induced by a multiplicative periodic signal, colored cross-correlated multiplicative and additive Gaussian noises. By use of the fast descent method and the adiabatic approximation theory for the signal-to-noise ratio, we obtain the expression of the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). Numerical results indicate that the various SR phenomena occur in the metapopulation system due to the variation of the noise terms and the correlation time. Specifically, the noise correlation always plays a critical role in motivating the SR phenomenon, while the multiplicative noise exerts the inhibition effect on the SR. Interestingly, the weak additive noise can stimulate the resonant peak of the SNR, while the further increase of the noise intensity will lead to the reduction of the SR effect. On the other hand, the noise correlation time τ plays antipodal roles in motivating the SR phenomenon under different circumstances. With regard to the mean extinction rate of the population from the boom state to the extinction one, by performing the numerical calculations, it is found that the additive noise always accelerate the extinction of the population, while the correlation noise will slow down the decline for the population. The role that the noise correlation time plays in the population extinction depends on the values that λ takes.  相似文献
