Solvent effects on the electrochemistry and spectroscopic properties of alkyl- and aryl-substituted corroles in nonaqueous media are reported. The oxidation and reduction of six compounds containing zero to seven phenyl or substituted phenyl groups on the macrocycle were studied in four different nonaqueous solvents (CH(2)Cl(2), PhCN, THF, and pyridine) containing 0.1 M tetra-n-butylammonium perchlorate. Dimers were formed upon oxidation of all corroles in CH(2)Cl(2), but this was not the case in the other three solvents, where either monomers or dimers were formed upon oxidation depending upon the solvent Gutmann donor number and the number or location of aryl substituents on the macrocycle. The half-wave potentials were analyzed as a function of the number of aryl substituents on the macrocycle as well as the concentration of added pyridine to PhCN solutions of the compound, and these data were combined with data from the spectroelectrochemistry experiments to determine the stoichiometry of the species actually in solution after the first oxidation or first reduction of each compound. The results of these experiments indicate that reduction of the bispyridine adduct (Cor)Co(III)(py)(2) proceeds via the monopyridine complex (Cor)Co(III)(py) to give in each case the unligated cobalt(II) corrole [(Cor)Co(II)](-). In contrast, pyridine remains coordinated after electrooxidation, and the final product was characterized as [(Cor)Co(III)(py)(2)](+).  相似文献

A systematic study for the effect of axially coordinated monovalent anions on the electrode reactions of several manganese porphyrins in acetonitrile is presented. Potential shifts of the metal-centered reduction with changes in counterion were related to the degree of Mn(III)-counterion interaction. In the electrochemically induced ligand exchange, perchlorate anion replaces the other anions as axial ligand coordinated to Mn(III) at oxidation potential less than the first oxidation of manganese porphyrins. Formation constants for axial ligation of OH? are calculated. One-electron oxidation of dihydroxide coordinated manganese porphyrins generate oxomanganese(IV) porphyrin complexes electrochemically. O=MnIVOEP(OH) is more thermodynamically stable than O=MnIVTPP(OH), while O=MnIVTpFPP(OH) cannot be generated electrochemically. In the presence of styrene or cyclohexene, the absorption spectra of oxomanganese(IV) porphyrins are changed to form manganese(III) porphyrins gradually, which indicates the oxygen atom transfer from oxomanganese(IV) porphyrins to the substrates.  相似文献

A series of homobimetallic manganese cofacial porphyrin-corrole dyads were synthesized and investigated as to their electrochemistry, spectroelectrochemistry, and ligand binding properties in nonaqueous media. Four dyads were investigated, each of which contained a Mn(III) corrole linked in a face-to-face arrangement with a Mn(III) porphyrin. The main difference between compounds in the series is the type of spacer, 9,9-dimethylxanthene, anthracene, dibenzofuran, or diphenylether, which determines the distance and interaction between the metallomacrocycles. Each redox process of the porphyrin-corrole dyads was assigned on the basis of spectroscopic and electrochemical data and by comparison with reactions and properties of the monocorrole and the monoporphyrin which were examined under the same solution conditions. The Mn(III) porphyrin part of the dyad undergoes two major one-electron reductions in pyridine and benzonitrile, the first of which involves a Mn(III)/Mn(II) process and the second the addition of an electron to the conjugated π-ring system of the macrocycle. The Mn(III) corrole part of the dyads also exhibits two major redox processes, one involving Mn(III)/Mn(II) and the other Mn(III) to Mn(IV) under the same solution conditions. The potentials and reversibility of each electron transfer reaction were shown to depend upon the solvent, type of spacer separating the two macrocycles, and the presence or absence of axial ligation, the latter of which was investigated in detail for the case of acetate ion which was found to bind within the cavity of the dyad to both manganese centers, both before and after the stepwise electroreduction to the Mn(II) forms of the two macrocycles. An intramolecular chloride ion exchange between the porphyrin part of the dyads which contain Mn(III)Cl and the singly oxidized corrole in the dyad is observed after the Mn(III)/Mn(IV) reaction of the corrole, suggesting that chloride is coordinated inside the cavity in the neutral compound.  相似文献

Corrole-manganese(V)-oxo intermediates were produced by laser flash photolysis of the corresponding corrole-manganese(IV) chlorate complexes, and the kinetics of their decay reactions in CH2Cl2 and their reactions with organic reductants were studied. The corrole ligands studied were 5,10,15-tris(pentafluorophenyl)corrole (H3TPFC), 5,10,15-triphenylcorrole (H3TPC), and 5,15-bis(pentafluorophenyl)-10-(p-methoxyphenyl)corrole (H3BPFMC). In self-decay reactions and in reactions with substrates, the order of reactivity of (Cor)Mn(V)(O) was TPC > BPFMC > TPFC, which is inverted from that expected based on the electron-demand of the ligands. The rates of reactions of (Cor)Mn(V)(O) were dependent on the concentration of the oxidant and other manganese species, with increasing concentrations of various manganese species resulting in decreasing rates of reactions, and the apparent rate constant for reaction of (TPFC)Mn(V)(O) with triphenylamine was found to display fractional order with respect to the manganese-oxo species. The kinetic results are consistent in part with a reaction model involving disproportionation of (Cor)Mn(V)(O) to give (Cor)Mn(IV) and (Cor)Mn(VI)(O) species, the latter of which is the active oxidant. Alternatively, the results are consistent with oxidation by (Cor)Mn(V)(O) which is reversibly sequestered in non-reactive complexes by various manganese species.  相似文献

Co(III) corroles were investigated as efficient catalysts for the reduction of dioxygen in the presence of perchloric acid in both heterogeneous and homogeneous systems. The investigated compounds are (5,10,15-tris(pentafluorophenyl)corrole)cobalt (TPFCor)Co, (10-pentafluorophenyl-5,15-dimesitylcorrole)cobalt (F 5PhMes 2Cor)Co, and (5,10,15-trismesitylcorrole)cobalt (Mes 3Cor)Co, all of which contain bulky substituents at the three meso positions of the corrole macrocycle. Cyclic voltammetry and rotating ring-disk electrode voltammetry were used to examine the catalytic activity of the compounds when adsorbed on the surface of a graphite electrode in the presence of 1.0 M perchloric acid, and this data is compared to results for the homogeneous catalytic reduction of O 2 in benzonitrile containing 10 (-2) M HClO 4. The corroles were also investigated as to their redox properties in nonaqueous media. A reversible one-electron oxidation occurs at E 1/2 values between 0.42 and 0.89 V versus SCE depending upon the solvent and number of fluorine substituents on the compounds, and this is followed by a second reversible one-electron abstraction at E 1/2 = 0.86 to 1.18 V in CH 2Cl 2, THF, or PhCN. Two reductions of each corrole are also observed in the three solvents. A linear relationship is observed between E 1/2 for oxidation or reduction and the number of electron-withdrawing fluorine groups on the compounds, and the magnitude of the substituent effect is compared to what is observed in the case of tetraphenylporphyrins containing meso -substituted C 6F 5 substituents. The electrochemically generated forms of the corrole can exist with Co(I), Co(II), or Co(IV) central metal ions, and the site of the electron-transfer in each oxidation or reduction of the initial Co(III) complex was examined by UV-vis spectroelectrochemistry. ESR characterization was also used to characterize singly oxidized (F 5PhMes 2Cor)Co, which is unambiguously assigned as a Co(III) radical cation rather than the expected Co(IV) corrole with an unoxidized macrocyclic ring.  相似文献

XANES and EXAFS spectroscopic studies at the Mn-K- and Br-K-edge of reaction products of (S,S)-(+)-N,N'-bis(3,5-di-tert-butylsalicylidene)-1,2-cyclohexanediaminomanganese(III) chloride ([(salen)Mn(III)Cl], 1) and (S,S)-(+)-N,N'-bis(3,5-di-tert-butylsalicylidene)-1,2-cyclohexanediaminomanganese(III) bromide ([(salen)Mn(III)Br], 2) with 4-phenylpyridine N-oxide (4-PPNO) and 3-chloroperoxybenzoic acid (MCPBA) are reported. The reaction of the Mn(III) complexes with two equivalents of 4-PPNO leads to a hexacoordinated compound, in which the manganese atom is octahedrally coordinated by four oxygen/nitrogen atoms of the salen ligand at an average distance of approximately 1.90 A and two additional, axially bonded oxygen atoms of the 4-PPNO at 2.25 A. The oxidation state of this complex was determined as approximately +IV by a comparative study of Mn(III) and Mn(V) reference compounds. The green intermediate obtained in reactions of MCPBA and solutions of 1 or 2 in acetonitrile was investigated with XANES, EXAFS, UV/Vis, and Raman spectroscopy, and an increase of the coordination number of the manganese atoms from 4 to 5 and the complete abstraction of the halide was observed. A formal oxidation state of IV was deduced from the relative position of the pre-edge 1s-->3d feature of the X-ray absorption spectrum of the complex. The broad UV/Vis band of this complex in acetonitrile with lambda(max)=648 nm was consistent with a radical cation structure, in which a MCPBA molecule was bound to the Mn(IV) central atom. An oxomanganese(V) or a dimeric manganese(IV) species was not detected.  相似文献

Manganese(V) imido complexes of 5,10,15-tris(pentafluorophenyl)corrole (H(3)tpfc) can be prepared by the reaction of Mn(III)(tpfc) and organic nitrene generated from either photolytic or thermal activation of organic azides. The terminal imido complexes of manganese(V) were among the first structurally characterized examples of Mn(V) terminal imido complexes in the literature. They feature a short Mn≡N triple bond and a nearly linear M[triple bond, length as m-dash]N-C angle. The ground state of (tpfc)Mn(V)(NAr) is singlet. Contrary to expectations, arylimido complexes of manganese(V) were stable to moisture and did not undergo [NR] group transfer to olefins. Manganese(V) imido corrole with an activated tosyl imido ligand was prepared from iodoimine (ArINTs) and manganese(III) corrole. The resulting complex (tpfc)Mn(NTs) is paramagnetic (S = 1), hydrolyzes to (tpfc)Mn(O) in the presence of water, abstracts hydrogen atoms from benzylic C-H bonds, and catalyzes aziridination of alkenes. Mechanistic studies on the aziridination and hydrogen atom transfer reactions are reviewed. This perspective also describes the reaction chemistry of the heme enzyme chlorite dismutase, the mechanism by which dioxygen is formed on a single-metal site, and recent advances in functional modelling of this enzyme. We also compare the reactivity of water-soluble iron versus manganese porphyrins towards the chlorite anion.  相似文献

The oxidation reaction of M(tpfc) [M = Mn or Cr and tpfc = tris(pentafluorophenyl)corrole] with aryl azides under photolytic or thermal conditions gives the first examples of mononuclear imido complexes of manganese(V) and chromium(V). These complexes have been characterized by NMR, mass spectrometry, UV-vis, EPR, elemental analysis, and cyclic voltammetry. Two X-ray structures have been obtained for Mn(tpfc)(NMes) and Cr(tpfc)(NMes) [Mes = 2,4,6-(CH(3))(3)C(6)H(2)]. Short metal-imido bonds (1.610 and 1.635 Angstroms) as well as nearly linear M-N-C angles are consistent with triple M triple-bond NR bond formation. The kinetics of nitrene [NR] group transfer from manganese(V) corroles to various organic phosphines have been defined. Reduction of the manganese(V) corrolato complex affords phosphine imine and Mn(III) with reaction rates that are sensitive to steric and electronic elements of the phosphine substrate. An analogous manganese complex with a variant corrole ligand containing bromine atoms in the beta-pyrrole positions, Mn(Br(8)tpfc)(NAr), has been prepared and studied. Its reaction with PEt(3) is 250x faster than that of the parent tpfc complex, and its Mn(V/IV) couple is shifted by 370 mV to a more positive potential. The EPR spectra of chromium(V) imido corroles reveal a rich signal at ambient temperature consistent with Cr(V) triple-bond NR (d(1), S = 1/2) containing a localized spin density in the d(xy) orbital, and an anisotropic signal at liquid nitrogen temperature. Our results demonstrate the synthetic utility of organic aryl azides in the preparation of mononuclear metal imido complexes previously considered elusive, and suggest strong sigma-donation as the underlying factor in stabilizing high-valent metals by corrole ligands.  相似文献

The dinucleating ligand, 2,6-bis{[(2-(2-pyridyl)ethyl)(2-pyridylmethyl)-amino]-methyl}-4-methylphenol) (L1OH) reacts with Mn(ClO4)2.6H2O to form the dinuclear complex [Mn2(II,II)(L1O)(mu-OOCCH3)2]ClO4 (1). The electrolytic oxidation of 1 at 0.7 V (vs Ag/AgCl) produces the mixed valent complex [Mn2(II,III)(L1O)(mu-OOCCH3)2](ClO4)2 (1ox) quantitatively, while electrolysis at 0.20 V converts 1ox back to 1. X-ray crystallographic structures show that both 1 and 1ox are dinuclear complexes in which the two manganese ions are each in distorted octahedral coordination environments bridged by the phenoxo oxygen and two acetate ions. The structural changes that occur upon the oxidation 1 to 1ox suggest an extended pi-bonding system involving the phenoxo ring C-O(phenoxo)-Mn(II)-N(pyridyl) chain. In addition, as 1 is oxidized to 1ox, the rearrangements in the coordination sphere resulting from the oxidation of one Mn(II) ion to Mn(III) are transmitted via the bridging Mn-O(phenoxo) bonds and cause structural changes that render the site of the second manganese ion unfit for the +3 state and hence unstable to reduction. Thus the electrolytic oxidation of 1ox in acetonitrile at 1.20 V takes up slightly greater than 1 F of charge/mol of 1ox, but the starting complex, 1ox, is recovered, showing the instability of the Mn2(III,III) state that is formed with respect to reduction to 1ox. Variable-temperature magnetic susceptibility measurements of 1 and 1ox over the temperature range from 1.8 to 300 K can be modeled with magnetic coupling constants J = -4.3 and -4.1 cm(-1), respectively showing the weak antiferromagnetic coupling between the two manganese ions in each dinuclear complex, which is commonly observed among similar phenoxo- and bis-1,3-carboxylato-bridged dinuclear Mn2(II,II) and Mn2(II,III) complexes.  相似文献

Two new terpyridine dimanganese oxo complexes [Mn(2)(III,IV)(mu-O)(2)(terpy)(2)(CF(3)CO(2))(2)](+) (3) and [Mn(2)(III,III)(mu-O)(terpy)(2)(CF(3)CO(2))(4)] (4) (terpy = 2,2':6,2' '-terpyridine) have been synthesized and their X-ray structures determined. In contrast to the corresponding mixed-valent aqua complex [Mn(2)(III,IV)(mu-O)(2)(terpy)(2)(H(2)O)(2)](3+) (1), the two Mn atoms in 3 are not crystallographically equivalent. The neutral binuclear monooxo manganese(III,III) complex 4 exhibits two crystallographic forms having cis and trans configurations. In the cis complex, the two CF(3)CO(2)(-) ligands on each manganese adopt a cis geometry to each other; one CF(3)CO(2)(-) is trans to the oxygen of the oxo bridge while the second is cis. In the trans complex, the two coordinated CF(3)CO(2)(-) have a trans geometry to each other and are cis to the oxo bridge. The electrochemical behavior of 3 in organic medium (CH(3)CN) shows that this complex could be oxidized into its corresponding stable manganese(IV,IV) species while its reduced form manganese(III,III) is very unstable and leads by a disproportionation process to Mn(II) and Mn(IV) complexes. Complex 4 is only stable in the solid state, and it disproportionates spontaneously in CH(3)CN solution into the mixed-valent complex 3 and the mononuclear complex [Mn(II)(terpy)(2)](2+) (2), thereby preventing the observation of its electrochemical behavior.  相似文献

The investigations of complete nitrogen atom transfer reactions from (nitrido)manganese(V) salen to manganese(III) complexes of porphyrins and corroles revealed that stabilization of the [Mn(N)]2+ moiety is in the order of corrole > porphyrin > salen. The first kinetic examination of this quite fundamental reaction exposed a large solvent effect on both the enthalpy and entropy activation energies. Oxidation of the (nitrido)manganese(V) corroles leads to the first (nitrido)manganese(VI) complexes that are coordinated by tetrapyrrolic ligands.  相似文献

Combined electrochemical and UV-visible spectroelectrochemical methods were utilized to elucidate the prevailing mechanisms for electroreduction of previously synthesized porphyrin-corrole dyads of the form (PCY)H2Co and (PCY)MClCoCl where M = Fe(III) or Mn(III), PC = porphyrin-corrole, and Y is a bridging group, either biphenylenyl (B), 9,9-dimethylxanthenyl (X), anthracenyl (A), or dibenzofuranyl (O). These studies were carried out in pyridine, conditions under which the cobalt(IV) corrole in (PCY)MClCoCl is immediately reduced to its Co(III) form, thus enabling direct comparisons with the free-base porphyrin dyad, (PCY)H2Co(III) under the same solution conditions. The compounds are all reduced in multiple one-electron-transfer steps, the first of which involves the M(III)/M(II) process of the porphyrin in the case of (PCY)MClCoCl and the Co(III)/Co(II) process of the corrole in the case of (PCY)H2Co. Each metal-centered redox reaction may be accompanied by the gain or loss of pyridine axial ligands, with the exact stoichiometry of the exchange process depending upon the specific combination of metal ions in the dyad, their oxidation states, and the particular spacer in the complex. Before this study was started, it was expected that the porphyrin-corrole dyads with the largest spacers, namely, O and A, would readily accommodate the formation of cobalt(III) bis-pyridine adducts because of the larger size of the cavity while dyads with the smallest B spacer would seem to have insufficient room to add even a single pyridine within the cavity, as was structurally seen in the case of (PCB)H2Co(py). This is clearly not the case, as shown in the present study. A reversible Co(III)/Co(II) reaction is seen for (PCB)MnClCoCl at -0.62 V, which when combined with spectroscopic data, leads to the assignment of (PCB)Mn(III)(py)2Co(III)(py) as the species in pyridine. The reduction of (PCB)Mn(III)(py)2Co(III)(py) to (PCB)Mn(II)(py)Co(III)(py) is accompanied on the slower spectroelectrochemical time scale by the appearance of a 603 nm band in the UV-vis spectra and is consistent with the addition of a second pyridine ligand to the Co(III)(py) unit of the dyad as one ligand is lost from the electrogenerated manganese(II) porphyrin, thus maintaining one pyridine ligand within the cavity. A different change in the coordination number is observed in the case of (PCB)FeClCoCl. Here the initial Fe(III) complex can be assigned as (PCB)Fe(III)ClCo(III)(py), which has no pyridine molecule within the cavity and the singly reduced form is characterized as (PCB)Fe(II)(py)2Co(III)(py)2, which contains two pyridine ligands inside the cavity. A following one-electron reduction of the Fe(II)/Co(III) complex then gives [(PCB)Fe(II)(py)2Co(II)]-.  相似文献

A series of five free-base corroles were metalated and brominated to form 10 manganese(III) corroles. Two of the free-base corroles and six manganese(III) corroles were analyzed by X-ray crystallography, including one complex that may be considered a transition-state analogue of oxygen atom transfer (OAT) from (oxo)manganese(V) to thioansisole. Oxidation by ozone allowed for isolation of the 10 corresponding (oxo)manganese(V) corroles, whose characterization by (1)H and (19)F NMR spectroscopy and electrochemistry revealed a low-spin and triply bound manganese-oxygen moiety. Mechanistic insight was obtained by investigating their reactivity regarding stoichiometric OAT to a series of p-thioanisoles, revealing a magnitude difference on the order of 5 between the β-pyrrole brominated (oxo)manganese(V) corroles relative to the nonbrominated analogues. The main conclusion is that the (oxo)manganese(V) corroles are legitimate OAT agents under conditions where proposed oxidant-coordinated reaction intermediates are irrelevant. Large negative Hammett ρ constants are obtained for the more reactive (oxo)manganese(V) corroles, consistent with expectation for such electrophilic species. The least reactive complexes display very little selectivity to the electron-richness of the sulfides, as well as a non-first-order dependence on the concentration of (oxo)manganese(V) corrole. This suggests that disproportionation of the original (oxo)manganese(V) corrole to (oxo)manganese(IV) and (oxo)manganese(VI) corroles, followed by substrate oxidation by the latter complex, gains importance when the direct OAT process becomes progressively less favorable.  相似文献

The reaction of N,N-bis(2-pyridylmethyl)-2-aminoethanol (bpaeOH), NaSCN/NaN(3), and metal (M) ions [M = Mn(II), Fe(II/III), Co(II)] in MeOH, leads to the isolation of a series of monomeric, trimeric, and tetrameric metal complexes, namely [Mn(bpaeOH)(NCS)(2)] (1), [Mn(bpaeO)(N(3))(2)] (2), [Fe(bpaeOH)(NCS)(2)] (3), [Fe(4)(bpaeO)(2)(CH(3)O)(2)(N(3))(8)] (4), [Co(bpaeOH)(NCS)(2)] (5), and [Co(3)(bpaeO)(2)(NO(3))(N(3))(4)](NO(3)) (6). These compounds have been investigated by single crystal X-ray diffractometry and magnetochemistry. In complex 1 the Mn(II) is bonded to one bpaeOH and two thiocyanate ions, while in complex 2 it is coordinated to a deprotonated bpaeO(-) and two azide ions. The oxidation states of manganese ions are 2+ for 1 and 3+ for 2, respectively, indicating that the different oxidation states depend on the type of binding anions. The structures of monomeric iron(II) and cobalt(II) complexes 3 and 5 with two thiocyanate ions are isomorphous to that of 1. Compounds 1, 2, 3, and 5 exhibit high-spin states in the temperature range 5 to 300 K. 4 contains two different iron(III) ions in an asymmetric unit, one is coordinated to a deprotonated bpaeO(-), an azide ion, and a methoxy group, and the other is bonded to three azide ions and two oxygens from bpaeO(-) and a methoxy group. Two independent iron(III) ions in 4 form a tetranuclear complex by symmetry. 4 displays both ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic couplings (J = 9.8 and -14.3 cm(-1)) between the iron(III) ions. 6 is a mixed-valence trinuclear cobalt complex, which is formulated as Co(III)(S = 0)-Co(II)(S = 3/2)-Co(III)(S = 0). The effective magnetic moment at room temperature corresponds to the high-spin cobalt(II) ion (~4.27 μ(B)). Interestingly, 6 showed efficient catalytic activities toward various olefins and alcohols with modest to excellent yields, and it has been proposed that a high-valent Co(V)-oxo species might be responsible for oxygen atom transfer in the olefin epoxidation and alcohol oxidation reactions.  相似文献

The reaction of manganese(II) acetate with a xanthene-bridged bis[3-(salicylideneamino)-1-propanol] ligand, H(4)L, afforded the tetramanganese(II,II,III,III) complex [Mn(4)(L)(2)(μ-OAc)(2)], which has an incomplete double-cubane structure. The corresponding reaction using manganese(II) chloride in the presence of a base gave the tetramanganese(III,III,III,III) complex [Mn(4)(L)(2)Cl(3)(μ(4)-Cl)(OH(2))], in which four Mn ions are bridged by a Cl(-) ion. A pair of L ligands has a propensity to incorporate four Mn ions, the arrangement and oxidation states of which are dependent on the coexistent anions.  相似文献

The carboxylate stretching frequencies of two high-valent, di-μ-oxido bridged, manganese dimers has been studied with IR spectroscopy in three different oxidation states. Both complexes contain one monodentate carboxylate donor to each Mn ion, in one complex, the carboxylate is coordinated perpendicular to the Mn-(μ-O)(2)-Mn plane, and in the other complex, the carboxylate is coordinated in the Mn-(μ-O)(2)-Mn plane. For both complexes, the difference between the asymmetric and the symmetric carboxylate stretching frequencies decrease for both the Mn(2)(IV,IV) to Mn(2)(III,IV) transition and the Mn(2)(III,IV) to Mn(2)(III,III) transition, with only minor differences observed between the two arrangements of the carboxylate ligand versus the Mn-(μ-O)(2)-Mn plane. The IR spectra also show that both carboxylate ligands are affected for each one electron reduction, i.e., the stretching frequency of the carboxylate coordinated to the Mn ion that is not reduced also shifts. These results are discussed in relation to FTIR studies of changes in carboxylate stretching frequencies in a one electron oxidation step of the water oxidation complex in Photosystem II.  相似文献

Kinetics of oxidation of L-aspartic acid and L-glutamic acid by manganese(III) ions have been studied in aqueous sulphuric acid, acetic acid, and pyrophosphate media. Manganese(III) solutions were prepared by known electrolytic/chemical methods in the three media. The nature of the oxidizing species present in manganese(III) solutions was determined by spectrophotometric and redox potential measurements. The reaction shows a variable order in [manganese(III)]o: the order changes from two to one as the reactive oxidizing species changes from an aquo ionic form to a complex form. There is a first-order dependence of the rate on [amino acid]o in all the three media while the other common features include an inverse dependence each on [H+] and on [manganese(II)]. Effects of varying ionic strength and solvent composition were studied. Added anions such as pyrophosphate, fluoride, or chloride alter the reaction rate and mechanism by changing the formal redox potential of Mn(III)-Mn(II) couple. Activation parameters have been evaluated using the Arrhenius and Eyring plots. Mechanisms consistent with the kinetic data have been proposed and discussed. © 1995 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

The structures of a number of mono- and diboron corrole complexes have been optimized using DFT methods in order to establish regio- and stereochemical preferences for bonding of one or two boron atoms to the corrole macrocycle. The formulations of the complexes were suggested either from preliminary experimental results (to be reported elsewhere) or by analogy with related diboron porphyrin compounds. The computational results suggest for the monoboron corroles BF(2)(H(2)corrole) and BPhH(H(2)corrole) that the regioisomer in which the boron is bound to a dipyrromethene site adjacent to the bipyrrole is preferred over the other possible regioisomers in which boron coordinates either in the bipyrrole or in the dipyrromethene site opposite the bipyrrole. In the N-substituted corrole complexes there are only two possiblities and, for each complex, the regioisomer with boron in the dipyrromethene site adjacent to the bipyrrole is lower in energy. For all four monoboron complexes the stereoisomers in which boron and both its substituents are displaced out of the mean N(4) plane are more stable than the boron in-plane stereoisomers. These regio- and stereochemical preferences are rationalised by an analysis of the deformations to the corrole macrocycle and the geometry at the boron atoms. The lowest energy structures in all cases correspond to the least strained configurations. In addition, all four complexes show significant BFHN hydrogen bonding and BHHN dihydrogen bonding interactions, which are maximised in the lowest energy configurations for each structure, indicating that these are important additional stabilising interactions. Three different regioisomers, each with cisoid or transoid stereochemistry were optimised for the diboron complex PhBOB(corrole) which contains a bridging BOB group. The dipyrromethene/dipyrromethene isomer is more stable than either of the dipyrromethene/bipyrrole isomers and cisoid stereochemistry is preferred over transoid. This contrasts with porphyrin complexes containing BOB groups for which both stereochemical possibilities are observed, and reflects the contracted size of the corrole macrocycle. Three further diboron corroles were investigated, the diboranyl cation [B(2)(corrole)](+) and its one- and two-electron reduced derivatives B(2)(corrole) and [B(2)(corrole)](-). These calculations were undertaken to determine whether the site of reduction of [B(2)(corrole)](+) is likely to be the diboron moiety or the macrocycle. The B-B bond lengths do not shorten upon reduction and an analysis of the molecular orbitals of each species indicates that reduction will be most likely to occur at the macrocycle, offering a potential route to an example of the two-electron reduced corrole ligand, an analogue of the 20-electron isophlorin ligand observed in the corresponding reduced porphyrin complex B(2)(porphine).  相似文献
