Taking into account the effects of quantum interference and interface scattering, combining the electron current with hole current contribution to tunnel current,we study the coherent quantum transport in normal-metal/d-wave superconductor/normal-metal (NM/d-wave SC/NM) double tunnel junctions by using extended Blonder-Tinkham-Klapwijk (BTK) approach. It is shown that all quasiparticle transport coefficients and conductance spectrum exhibit oscillating behavior with the energy, in which periodic vanishing of Andreev reflection (AR) above superconducting gap is found. In tunnel limit for the interface scattering strength taken very large, there are a series of bound states of quasiparticles formed in SC.

The frequency of radiation from Ta(superconducting)-Al(normal) point contacts has been measured as a function of temperature. The dependence agrees with the Bardeen-Cooper-Schrieffer (BCS) gap equation for Ta.

An extended Blonder-Tinkham-Klapwijk approach is applied to study how the tunneling conductance in ferromagnetic semiconductor/s-wave superconductor (FS/SC) junction, where the FS region is a quantum wire, is manipulated by the mismatches of the effective mass between the FS and SC, spin polarization in the FS, as well as the strength of potential scattering at the interface. It is demonstrated that in the single-mode case they have different influences on the tunneling spectra.

We examine nonlocal effects between normal-metal gold probes connected by superconducting aluminum. For highly transparent Au/Al interfaces, we find nonlocal voltages that obey a spatial and temperature evolution distinct from the nonequilibrium charge imbalance signals usually found in such systems. These voltages are consistent with the predicted effects of crossed Andreev reflection and elastic cotunneling, effects that involve coherent correlations between spatially separated electrons.

We solve a self-consistent equation for the d-wave superconducting gap and the magnetization in the mean-field approximation, study the Zeeman effects on the thermodynamic potential of d-wave superconductor (S) and coherent quantum transport in normal-metal (N)/d-wave S/N double tunnel junctions. Taking simultaneously into account the electron-injected current from one N electrode and the hole-injected current from the other N electrode, we derive a general formula for the differential conductance in a N/d-wave S/N system under a Zeeman magnetic field on the d-wave S. It is found that oscillations of all quasiparticle transport coefficients and differential conductance with the bias voltage and the thickness of the d-wave S depend to a great extent on the crystal orientation of the d-wave S. In the N/d-wave S/N junctions, the Zeeman magnetic field can lead to the Zeeman splitting of conductance peaks, and the temperature can reduce the coherent effect.

A phase diagram reflecting the main features of the typical phase diagram of cuprate superconductors has been studied within the framework of the Ginzburg-Landau phenomenology in the vicinity of a tetracritical point, which appears as a result of the competition of the superconducting and insulating pairing channels. The superconducting pairing under repulsive interaction corresponds to a two-component order parameter, whose relative phase is related to the orbital antiferromagnetic insulating ordering. Under weak doping, the insulating order coexists with the superconductivity at temperatures below the superconducting phase transition temperature and is manifested as a weak pseudogap above this temperature. A part of the pseudogap region adjacent to the superconducting state corresponds to developed fluctuations of the order parameter in the form of quasi-stationary states of noncoherent superconducting pairs and can be interpreted as a strong pseudogap. As the doping level is increased, the system exhibits a phase transition from the region of coexistence of the superconductivity and the orbital antiferromagnetism to the usual superconducting state. In this state, a region of developed fluctuations of the order parameter in the form of quasi-stationary states of uncorrelated orbital circular currents exists near the phase transition line.

We show that multiple point contacts on a barrier separating two laterally coupled quantum Hall fluids induce Aharonov-Bohm (AB) oscillations in the tunneling conductance. These quantum coherence effects provide new evidence for the Luttinger liquid behavior of the edge states of quantum Hall fluids. For a two point contact, we identify coherent and incoherent regimes determined by the relative magnitude of their separation and the temperature. We analyze both regimes in the strong and weak tunneling amplitude limits as well as their temperature dependence. We find that the tunneling conductance should exhibit AB oscillations in the coherent regime, both at strong and weak tunneling amplitudes with the same period but with different functional form.

Adjustable YBa2Cu3O7/PbSn point contact Josephson junctions are exposed to a microwave field. The current voltage characteristics of the junctions show microwave-induced constant voltage steps. The power dependence of the current width of the steps is well described by the Bessel function behaviour. This clearly demonstrates the presence of macroscopic quantum effects in the new highT c material.
