Nowadays, within the Russian system of higher education there are two subsystems working fairly independently. One is mass higher education, and other is fundamental (quality) education. The educational reform which has been underway since the mid-1990s only makes worse the situation. Every year higher school teachers note a decrease of the quality of applicants and first-year students, gaps in their knowledge of chemistry, mathematics, and other disciplines. Under such conditions, universities should provide themselves with a corpse of the adequately prepared applicants. What can be done in order to preserve traditions of the Russian fundamental university education? First of all, quality textbooks for school pupils and applicants can be written and published. Further, connections between higher education institutions and secondary school in various regions of the country can be established and developed. Another very important task consists in organizing and conducting science Olympiads for schoolchildren and applicants. All these activities are being undertaken now by the Moscow State University.  相似文献

In order to better serve the local economic construction, the specialty of Salt Lake chemical industry is strengthened and optimized based on the concept of emerging engineering education (3E). The education reform has been carried out actively so as to meet the new needs of industrial development. The improvement of curriculum system was made by enhancing the multi-discipline education, updating the teaching contents, setting up school enterprise cooperation for teaching, research and application with strengthening innovation and engineering practice ability training. The reform has achieved good results and laid solid foundation for the future development of a new 3E major of Science and Technology of Salt Lake.  相似文献

The following brief survey of the status of chemistry in Hungary focuses on chemistry education at Hungarian universities, the role of the chemical industry in the Hungarian economy, chemical research at university departments, and the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and its major research areas. This successful educational program in nuclear and radiochemistry for advanced undergraduate students is described. Funding from the U.S. Department of Energy supports 24 fellowships for participants in the intensive six-week programs at San Jose State University (CA) and Brookhaven National Laboratory (NY). Students are provided transportation to and from the school site, room and board, books, lab supplies, and six units of college credit. The instructional program consists of lectures and laboratory exercises that cover the fundamentals of nuclear theory, radiochemistry, nuclear instrumentation, radiological safety, and applications in research, midicine, and industry. Guest lectures and field trips broaden the students' exposure to nuclear science. Assistance is provided in the following year to those students who wish to join a research project at a university or national laboratory, and thereafter, in their applications to graduate or professional school.  相似文献

With special regard to dyes and indicators used in high school education, the light‐induced charge transfer (CT) and charge resonance (CR) is calculated and additionally supported by HOMO/LUMO model pictures. During the last 30 years the world's materials around us have changed from ‐ steel, concrete and wood to new materials with their own chemistry, and they constitute a large part of the manufacturing industry and our imports. Emphasis is on polymers, advanced materials for the electronic and medical industries and novel ceramics, amongst others. Yet, a school leaver often doesn't know much, or anything, about steel, concrete or what a plastic bag is and how to recycle it. There is an urgent need to address the improved teaching of materials science, especially in Africa [1, 2]. The NSF in America funded the Materials Science Department at Iowa University to create standards eight, nine and ten, i.e. senior high school, material science course. Sixteen teachers were used to write the notes and teachers manual. We are looking at the use of this course to promote materials science as a third matric science subject. We are of the opinion that this course could do much to improve science teaching in Africa and make the matric student much more conscious of materials around him/her. This presentation (which in some form had been presented at various conferences) mentions what this course in materials science and macromolecules covers and, further what we can do and achieve with multimedia education at university level [3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8]. It will be based on the courses: MATTER, from Chapman‐Hall, developed by Liverpool University and Macrogalleria, developed by Prof. Lon Mathias at University of Southern Mississippi.  相似文献

If chemistry is to be taught successfully, teachers must have a good subject matter knowledge (SK) of the ideas with which they are dealing, the nature of this falling within the orbit of philosophy of chemistry. They must also have a good pedagogic content knowledge (PCK), the ability to communicate SK to students, the nature of this falling within the philosophy and psychology of chemical education. Taking the case of models and modelling, important themes in the philosophy of chemistry, an interview-based study was conducted into the SK and PCK of a sample of teachers in Brazil. This paper focuses on the results of the university chemistry teacher sub-sample in that enquiry, analyses their SK and PCK, and speculates on the implications of this for the education of school teachers. Finally, it suggests approaches to the professional development of university chemistry teachers that place an emphasis on the philosophy of chemistry. Charles J. Pedersen began life in Korea where his father was employed as an engineer at a gold mine in a remote region of that country. He received his primary and secondary school education in Japan and university training in the United States. He was employed as an organic research chemist at DuPont for 42 years. The signal accomplishment of this unusual individual was his serendipitous discovery of macrocyclic polyethers and of their selective complexation of alkali metal cations. This discovery sparked the development of a new field of chemistry and led to his sharing the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1987. This "emerging engineering education (3E)" project "Upgrade and Practice of Chemistry-related Majors of Local and/or Specialized University Responding to the Industry Changes" was supported by the Ministry of Education. To aim at the issue of how to upgrade the chemistry-related majors of a local and/or specialized university responding to industry changes, an investigation on local regional economy and industry changes was carried out, the capability requirements of 3E for talents were analyzed, and the training objectives, graduation requirements as well as the new teaching models were also studied for the major to meet the future requirements. This communication will provide an overview of the papers given in the Symposium entitled Pre-College Education in Nuclear Science held under the auspices of the Division of Nuclear Chemistry and Technology of the American Chemical Society, and given at the 204th National Meeting of the American Chemical Society in Washington, D.C., on August 24–28, 1992. The Symposium consisted of 45 invited papers, and covered topics in nuclear science education at the high school, middle school, and elementary school levels. The Symposium also presented an overview of the involvement of university and federal laboratories in providing teaching and research opportunities for pre-college faculty and students, curriculum enhancement by special interest groups such as power and utility companies, as well as funding opportunities from private and federal agencies.  相似文献

Based on the development prospect of cosmetics industry, the advantage of light industry characteristic and the foundation of applied chemistry in Jiangnan University, a systematic upgrading of applied chemistry was carried out through "emerging engineering education (3E)" project "upgrade and practice of chemistry-related majors of local and/or trade university responding to the social developments" supported by the Ministry of Education. On the basis of investigation and analysis, the orientation and training goal of applied chemistry were updated first, and then the curriculum system was determined and the curriculum construction is strengthened, so as to achieve more distinctive characteristics, more solid foundation and more comprehensive quality. In view of the new requirements of the 3E for talent training, some practices have been formed in the aspects of multi-disciplinary integration, multi-angle coordination and close integration to industry. Contributing the development of cosmetics industry and seizing the commanding point of science and technology from the perspective of talent training, will play a unique role in human social progress.  相似文献

In the era of "Internet +", with the help of national excellent MOOC course of Chinese university and Mlabs-virtual experimental software, Tencent classroom is built to provide a diversified and efficient online inorganic chemistry basic laboratory classroom by combining a variety of modern education technologies with the concept of flipped classroom. Taking the redox reaction experiment as an example, we designed a multi-link teaching process and carried out a multi-faceted assessment. The online teaching can not only strengthen the cultivation of students' comprehensive and innovating ability, but also help teachers to update the teaching mode and create the new experimental content in line with the development of the times, so as to realize the mutual learning between teachers and students in the exploration of experimental teaching reform.  相似文献

目的调查和分析江西南昌地区血吸虫病流行区初中学生血吸虫病情况,及相关影响因素。方法 2015年8月至2016年8月,将江西南昌地区血吸虫病流行区中的19个重点县分为血吸虫病传播控制区和血吸虫病疫情控制区,其中传播控制区调查人数1 569名,疫情控制区调查人数1 723名,对所有的学生均采取问卷调查措施。结果疫情控制区初中学生血吸虫病检查率明显高于传播控制区初中学生血吸虫病检查率,数据比较差异具有统计学意义(P0.05);血防知识知晓及格率越高,检查率越高;学校血防教育频次越高,检查率越高;血防部分教育频次及格率越高,检查率越高,数据比较差异均具有统计学意义(P0.05)。结论江西南昌地区血吸虫病流行区初中学生血吸虫病检查率较低,需要加强对初中学生的健康教育,实现提高初中学生血吸虫病检查率的目的。  相似文献
