Rubber composites were prepared for elastomer slab by mixing barium titanate (BaTiO3), carbon nanotube (CNT), carbon black (CB), and room-temperature vulcanized (RTV) silicone rubber. An electrode was prepared from composite for energy harvesting with fillers such as CB and CNT, and RTV thinner was used to improve the processing of the specimen. At 50 phr of BaTiO3, there is an increase in compressive modulus by 180%. There was a correlation between prestrain and biaxial strain in enhancing the energy generation. After poling of the rubber composite containing 50 phr of BaTiO3 at 11 kV/mm, the energy harvesting was increased at all strains. In durability test at 70 phr of BaTiO3 for 60% cyclic biaxial strain, the drop in voltage from the piezoelectric energy harvesting was almost zero for 3000 cycles.  相似文献

Acrylonitrile butadiene rubber (NBR) compounds filled with 40 phr of high abrasion furnace black (HAF) and HAF (20 phr)/graphite (20 phr) were experimentally investigated. The stress-strain curves of the composites were studied, which are described by applying Ogden's model. The effect of cyclic fatigue and hysteresis was also examined. The dissipation energy that indicates the vibration damping capacity for all samples was determined. A continuum damage model is used to investigate the fatigue damage behavior for elastomers. Experiments on the cyclic fatigue of a carbon-filled NBR rubber and carbon/graphite filled NBR rubber were conducted to determine the relation between the number of cyclic fatigue and the strain amplitude. The results indicate that the theoretical formula for the number of cyclic fatigue as a function of the strain amplitude, derived from the damage model, can describe experimental data for the prepared samples very well.  相似文献

The effect of nanoclay on the fatigue crack growth behavior was investigated. Fatigue tests were carried out on edge notched specimens under cyclic tension loadings. A power–law dependency between crack growth rate and tearing energy was obtained. Natural rubber (NR) filled with 5 phr organically modified montmorillonite (OMMT) possessed the lowest value of the exponent, b, and the smallest crack growth rate at a given tearing energy, denoting the strongest resistance to crack growth. Strain‐induced crystallization was probed by synchrotron WAXD experiments, showing earliest occurrence and strongest ability of crystallization in NR with 5 phr OMMT due to the better exfoliation and orientation of clay layers. The study on the viscoelastic property by dynamic mechanical analysis indicated that NR filled with 10 phr OMMT had the largest contribution to tearing energy attributed to the viscoelastic dissipation in the viscoelastic region in front of the crack tip. This revealed that the strain‐induced crystallization played a more important role in the crack growth resistance than the viscoelastic dissipation for clay filled rubber. Electron beam (EB) crosslinked natural rubber (NR) gels were prepared by curing NR latex with EB irradiation over a range of doses from 2.5 to 20 kGy using butyl acrylate as sensitizer. The NR gels were systematically characterized by solvent swelling, dynamic light scattering, mechanical and dynamic mechanical properties. These gels were introduced in virgin NR and styrene butadiene rubber (SBR) matrices at 2, 4, 8 and 16 phr concentration. Addition of the gels improved the mechanical and dynamic mechanical properties of NR and SBR considerably. For example, 16 phr of 20 kGy EB-irradiated gel-filled NR showed a tensile strength of 3.53 MPa compared to 1.85 MPa of virgin NR. Introduction of gels in NR shifted the glass transition temperature to a higher temperature. A similar effect was observed in the case of NR gel-filled SBR systems. Morphology of the gel-filled systems was studied with atomic force microscopy. The NR gels also improved the processability of the virgin rubbers greatly. Both the shear viscosity and the die swell values of EB-irradiated gel-filled NR and SBR were lower than their virgin counterparts as investigated by capillary rheometer.  相似文献

This paper investigates the strength of polyether-ether-ketone (PEEK) after sterilisation and thermal ageing. PEEK specimens were divided into five groups, according to whether the specimens had been annealed, sterilised or aged. Specimens were subjected to either static or dynamic three-point bend tests. Static tests involved loading the specimens until a maximum displacement of 40 mm was reached. Dynamic tests involved applying a sinusoidally varying force at a frequency of 5 Hz. The maximum force applied to a specimen was based on a percentage of the static yield strength. Testing continued until failure or run out of 10 million cycles. Sterilisation and ageing resulted in no significant change in the static yield strength. Annealing was found to significantly increase the yield strength. For the dynamic tests, the fatigue strength was in the range 99.4 to 107.4 MPa; sterilisation and thermal ageing were found to have no effect on fatigue strength.  相似文献

Using rubber to toughen polylactide (PLA) is always accompanied by the sharp reduction in stiffness. Herein, PLA/poly (methyl methacrylate) grafted natural rubber (NR-PMMA) thermoplastic vulcanizates (TPVs) with balanced stiffness-toughness were fabricated. With the addition of 40 wt % NR-PMMA, the impact strength and tensile toughness of PLA/NR-PMMA TPV significantly improved to about 102.7 kJ/m2 and 66.1 MJ/m3, respectively, compared with those of 2.7 kJ/m2 and 2.4 MJ/m3 for the pure PLA. Meanwhile, the yielding stress was maintained at 34.5 MPa. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) confirmed the formation of in-situ interfacial compatibilization between PLA and rubber phases. Both tensile and impact toughening mechanism were studied and deduced as considerable energy dissipation provided by the continuous rubber phase. Instrumented notched impact tests demonstrated that the energy dissipating in crack propagation process contributed to the main part of impact toughness. In addition, a novel toughening model based on bicontinuous structure was incorporated, which showed good applicability in predicting the impact strength of PLA/NR-PMMA TPVs.  相似文献

The correlation between aggregates and bound rubber structures in silicone rubbers(S(phr)) with various silica fractions(ΦSi) has been investigated by contrast matching small-angle neutron scattering(SANS), swelling kinetics, and low-field nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR).Mixed solvents with deuterated cyclohexane fractions of 4.9% and 53.7% were chosen to match the scattering length densities of the matrix(SMP(phr)) and the filler(SMS(phr)), respectively. All the data consistently suggest that:(i) There is a critical threshold ΦSic between 10 and 30 phr;below ΦSic, the isolated aggregates are dominant, while beyond ΦSic, some rubber fraction is trapped among the agglomerate;(ii) ΦSiindependent thicknesses around 7.5 nm(NMR) and 8.6 nm(SANS) suggest that the bound rubber formation is determined by inherent properties of the components, and the power-law around 4.2 suggests an exponential changed gradient density of the bound rubber;(iii) SMS(80) presents a bicontinuous bound rubber with three characteristic lengths of 41, 100, and 234 nm. The expanded correlation length, a 20 nm smaller aggregate sizes suggest that such existent bicontinuous network in dry samples with less ΦSi is kind of impacted by swelling. With the obtained bound rubber models, the reinforcing mechanism of filled silicone rubber is elucidated.  相似文献

This research presents the effects of oxygen pressure and ambient temperatures on the crack behavior of O-rings from a semi-EV of NR/EPDM rubber with silica/CB filler, exposed to the inlet flow and outflow oxygen pressure in a Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC) environment. Blends of NR/EPDM were prepared with various ratios of silica/CB filler at 00/60, 10/50, 20/40, 30/30, 40/20, 50/10, and 60/00 phr. The fabricated O-ring complied with the standard for O-rings (TIS 2728-2559), with a minimum hardness of 65–75 Shore A, minimum tensile strength of 9 MPa, minimum elongation at break of 200%, and a minimum 100% modulus of 2.7 MPa. The mechanical properties of the compounds were tested, and the appropriate compound was chosen to make the O-rings to test in SOFC. The crack morphology of the fabricated O-rings was investigated and compared with a commercial O-ring after testing in the SOFC. As a result, the compound with silica/CB of 40:20 ratio provided the optimum mechanical properties, and passed the criteria standard of TIS 2728-2559. The mechanical properties of the prepared and commercial O-rings were similar (P-value of commercial with 60/00 = 0.273, 50/10 = 0.273, 40/20 = 0.144, 30/30 = 0.465, 20/40 = 0.465, 10/50 = 1.000 and 00/60 = 0.273; all > 0.05) and and both could still be continued to be used in SOFC despite some inner cracks after 24 h. The price of the prepared O-ring is cheaper than the commercial O-rings due to the low price of NR used in its formulation. Therefore, a prepared O-ring can be used in a SOFC, or other applications due to their mechanical properties and their reasonable price.  相似文献

Hydrophobic nano silica sol(HNSS)was incorporated into polyvinylmethylsiloxane to prepare reinforced high- temperature vulcanized(HTV)silicone rubber.HTV silicone rubber filled with 40 phr HNSS showed excellent mechanical and optical properties:the tensile strength reached 11.7 MPa and the optical transmittance was higher than 90%.Possible reasons for reinforcement and transparency were discussed on the basis of the bound rubber percentage, total crosslink density, and SEM analysis. Our work suggests that H...  相似文献

Blends of natural rubber/virgin ethylene-propylene-diene-monomer (NR/EPDM) and natural rubber/recycled ethylene-propylene-diene-monomer (NR/R-EPDM) were prepared. A fixed amount of carbon black (30 phr) was also incorporated. The effect of the blend ratio (90/10, 80/20, 70/30, 60/40 and 50/50 (phr/phr)) on the compounding, mechanical and morphological properties of carbon-black-filled NR/EPDM and NR/R-EPDM blends was studied. The results indicated that both the carbon-black-filled NR/EPDM and NR/R-EPDM blends exhibited a decrease in tensile strength and elongation at break for increasing weight ratio of EPDM or R-EPDM. The maximum torque (S′MH), minimum torque (S′ML), torque difference (S′MH?ML), scorch time (ts2) and cure time (tc90) of carbon-black-filled NR/EPDM or NR/R-EPDM blends increased with increasing weight ratio of virgin EPDM or R-EPDM in the blend. SEM micrographs proved that, for low weight ratios of virgin EPDM or R-EPDM, the blends exhibited high surface roughness and matrix tearing lines. The blends also showed a reduction in crack path with increasing virgin EPDM or R-EPDM content over 30 phr. This reduction in crack path could lead to less resistance to crack propagation and, therefore, low tensile strength.  相似文献

Impact loading is an important process in the transport industry as it causes wear and failure of critical components. Conveyor belts are of particular importance as they are used in practically every industry where large quantities of goods are moved over short (<10 m) or long distances (>1 km). To investigate stress levels inside the material during impact loading, a gas gun was utilized to shoot 9 mm spherical steel balls onto the surface of a rubber conveyor belt. A high speed video recording system was employed in order to determine penetration depth and dissipated energy of the steel ball. Maximal penetration depths of up to 3.9 mm and maximal dissipated energies of up to 86.8 % were measured. Additionally, a numerical simulation using smooth particle applied mechanics was conducted and compared to the experimental results obtained with the gas gun. The calculated von Mises stresses affected the conveyor belts up to a maximum depth of 8.8 mm with at least 20 MPa. Maximum von Mises stresses were calculated to reach 60 MPa.  相似文献

Layered silicate/natural rubber composites were prepared by direct polymer melt intercalation. Na‐montmorillonite Kunipia‐F and its organic derivates (organo‐clays) prepared by ion exchange were used as clay fillers. Silica (SiO2) Ultrasil VN3, a filler commonly used in the rubber industry, was used in combination with clay fillers. The effect of clay or organo‐clay loading from 1 up to 10 phr without (0 phr) or with silica (15 phr) showed significant improvement of the tensile properties (stress at break, strain at break and modulus M100). Modification of montmorillonite by three alkylammonium cations with the same length of alkylammonium chain (18 carbons) and different structure resulted in altered reinforcing and plasticizing effects of the filler in composites with rubber matrix. “Green” composites with different amounts of in situ silica nano-particles were prepared by a sol-gel reaction of tetraethoxysilane (TEOS) in natural rubber (NR). The control of swelling degree of TEOS in NR and concentration of n-butylamine in water was useful to change the amount of generated in situ silica in the uncured NR matrix. In situ silica up to 42 parts per hundred rubber by weight (phr) was successfully filled in the NR matrix. The particle size of in situ silica became larger with the increase of silica content from ca. 10 nm to ca. 40 nm for 10 phr--40 phr loadings in the NR matrix, respectively. Even when the amount of in situ silica content was high, the dispersion of in situ silica particles was more homogeneous than that of commercial silica (VN-3). The reinforcement effect of the in situ silica for NR vulcanizates increased with increasing the in situ silica content.  相似文献

Various amounts of predispersed multi-wall carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) were mixed with natural rubber (NR), with and without carbon black (CB), for preparing MWCNT-filled NR (NC) and MWCNT/CB-filled NR (NH) vulcanizates. All NH vulcanizates contained 30 phr CB and the amount of MWCNT for both NC and NH was varied from 0 to 8 phr. Helium ion microscopy (HIM) and FE-SEM images showed that MWCNT in the NH was dispersed much better than in the NC. Additionally, the well dispersed CB and MWCNT in the NH functioned synergistically in promoting an increase in longitudinal crack growth, leading to enhancement of edge-cut tensile strength (CTS) with increasing MWCNT loading. In contrast, all NC specimens ruptured in a simple lateral direction relating to their lower CTS. Results also revealed that abrasion resistance of the NH was not significantly changed with increasing MWCNT, whereas that of the NC increased. Nevertheless, abrasion resistance of both vulcanizates showed good correlation with the average value of ridge spacing on their abraded surfaces. It was also found that tensile strength of the NH was almost unchanged when the MWCNT loading was increased because the reinforcement by CB predominates over the MWCNT. However, 100% modulus and hardness of both NC and NH increased with increasing MWCNT content.  相似文献

Rockwool is an inorganic fiber with interesting properties obtained from basaltic rocks. It can possibly be used in rubber technical products which work under critical conditions in several industries. This study aims to investigate properties of three short rockwool fibers/nitrile rubber composites. Ten formulations were prepared with 10, 25 and 40 phr of rockwool fibers with different length and modification. The composites were assessed on its morphological aspects, thermal, rheological, and mechanical behaviors. The results remarked that the rockwool fiber with chemical modification had better interfacial interaction with the polymer enhancing modulus at 100% of deformation, Shore A hardness, tear strength, Payne effect and stress relaxation under a compressive regime. An outstanding result was observed for the composite with 10 phr of fiber with chemical modification that had less stress relaxation when compared with the unfilled NBR indicating an excellent possibility of use of this fiber in materials that work under compressive forces. The difference in length of the rockwool fibers (125 μm–300 μm) did not interfere significantly on most of the results.  相似文献

One major problem with ball and socket artificial discs is the migration of wear particles to the surrounding tissues. This debris can cause inflammation that can lead to implant loosening. Encapsulating the artificial disc with an elastomer sheath could prevent this problem by retaining the wear particles within the disc. The encapsulation sheath will face millions of tensile cycles during the implant life and, therefore, it must have the ability to withstand large strains without fracture. Using cyclic displacement, crack nucleation was applied on dumbbell specimens and crack growth was applied on rectangular specimens with an initial crack. Both tests were performed on Silex silicone and polyurethane ether elastomer specimens, both with a Shore durometer hardness of 40 shore A. No samples completely failed during the crack nucleation tests after five million cycles. The polyurethane ether elastomer showed a slower rate of crack growth life (421 k cycles to reach 70 mm crack length) than silicone elastomer (221 k cycles to reach the same crack length) in the control group. Accelerated ageing decreased the hardness and the crack growth rate of the polyurethane elastomer but had the opposite effect for the silicone elastomer. Gamma sterilization increased the crack growth rate and did not affect the hardness of the polyurethane elastomer. The hardness and the crack growth rate of the silicone elastomer were increased after gamma sterilization.  相似文献

Platinum nanoparticles/carbon nanotubes (Ptnano/CNTs) were rapidly synthesized by microwave radiation, and applied for the oxidative determination of arsenic(III). The transmission electron microscopy (TEM) revealed the size of synthesized Pt nanoparticles with nominal diameter of 15 ± 3 nm. Ptnano/CNTs modified glassy carbon electrode (Ptnano/CNTs/GCE) exhibited better performance for arsenic(III) analysis than that of Pt nanoparticles modified GCE (Ptnano/GCE) by electrochemical deposition or Pt foil electrode. Excellent reproducibility of the Ptnano/CNTs/GCE was obtained with the relative standard deviation (RSD) of 3.5% at 20 repeated analysis of 40 μM As(III), while the RSD was 9.8% for Ptnano/GCE under the same conditions. The limit of determination (LOD) of the Ptnano/CNTs/GCE was 0.12 ppb, which was 1–2 orders of magnitude lower than that of Ptnano/GCE or Pt foil electrode.  相似文献

Styrene butadiene rubber (SBR) composites filled with fillers, such as modified kaolinite (MK), precipitated silica (PS), and the hybrid fillers containing MK and PS, were prepared by melt blending. The kaolinite sheets were finely dispersed in the SBR matrix around 20–80 nm in thickness and reached the nano-scale. The SBR composites with fillers exhibited excellent thermal stability compared to the pure SBR. The thermal stability of SBR composites was improved with the increasing of MK mass fraction. When MK hybridized with PS, kaolinite sheets were covered by the fine silica particles and the interface between filler particles and rubber matrix became more indistinct. SBR composite filled by hybrid fillers containing 40 phr MK and 10 phr PS became more difficult in decomposition and was better than that of 50 phr PS/SBR and 50 phr MK/SBR in thermal stability. Therefore, the hybridization of the fine silica particles with the kaolinite particles can effectively improve the thermal stability of SBR composites.  相似文献

Carbon/carbon (C/C) composites with PyC/TaC/PyC or PyC/SiC/TaC/PyC multi-interlayers were prepared by isothermal chemical vapor infiltration, followed by Furan resin impregnation and carbonization. Microstructures, mechanical properties including flexural strength, ductile displacement, and fracture behaviors of composites were studied. Furthermore, composites were heat treated at 2000 °C to study the effects of heat treatment on mechanical properties and fracture behaviors. PyC/TaC/PyC and PyC/SiC/TaC/PyC multi-interlayers have been deposited uniformly in C/C composites. With the introduction of PyC/TaC/PyC multi-interlayers in C/C composites, the flexural strength decreases; however, the ductile displacement increases. The fracture behavior changes from brittleness (0% TaC) to pseudo-ductility (5% TaC) and high toughness (10% TaC). When PyC/SiC/TaC/PyC multi-interlayers are introduced in C/C composites, the flexural strength is improved remarkably from 270 MPa to 522 MPa, but the ductile displacement decreases obviously from 0.49 mm to 0.24 mm, and the fracture behavior becomes brittle again. After heat treatment at 2000 °C, the flexural strength decreases, but the ductile displacement increases and pseudo-ductility or high toughness can be obtained.  相似文献

Film formation of poly(vinyl chloride) resin (rPVC) coating on natural rubber (NR) surface in solid state was prepared and investigated. The mixtures of rPVC with NR were compressed at 170 °C for 15 min and found that the rPVC was migrated and coated on the NR surface which was proved by the images from Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) and Atomic Force Microscope (AFM). The coated NR films with rPVC loading 5 and 10 phr are stronger and higher dielectric constant than uncoated NR film. Very high loading of rPVC for 50 and 100 phr result in decreasing of tensile strength and dielectric constant.  相似文献
