Composite fibers composed of poly(l-lactide)-grafted hydroxyapatite (PLA-g-HAP) nanoparticles and polylactide (PLA) matrix were prepared by electro-spinning. Environmental scanning electron microscope (ESEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) were employed to investigate the morphology of the composite fibers and the distribution of PLA-g-HAP nanoparticles in the fibers, respectively. At a low content (∼4 wt%) of PLA-g-HAP, the nanoparticles dispersed uniformly in the fibers and the composite fibrous mats exhibited higher strength properties, compared with the pristine PLA fiber mats and the simple hydroxyapatite/PLA blend fiber mats. But when the content of PLA-g-HAP further increased, the nanoparticles began to aggregate, which resulted in the deterioration of the mechanical properties of the composite fiber mats. The degradation behaviors of the composite fiber mats were closely related to the content of PLA-g-HAP. At a low PLA-g-HAP content, degradation may be delayed due to the reduction of autocatalytic degradation of PLA. When PLA-g-HAP content was high, degradation rate increased because of the enhanced wettability of the composite fibers and the escape of the nanoparticles from fiber surfaces during incubation.  相似文献

Flexible mats of titania fibers are prepared by calcination of electrospun polyvinylpyrrolidone fibers containing titanium isopropoxide precursor. Structural investigation of the calcinated nanofibers by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and electron diffraction (ED) combined with the morphologies by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) show the titania fibers, with an average diameter of 180 nm, were comprised of anatase and rutile crystals. The mechanical, chemical and thermal properties of the titania fiber mats are further investigated by the techniques of Instron mechanical tester, thermogravimetric analyzer (TGA), and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). The titania fiber mat prepared in this method exhibited a significant flexibility with 461 MPa Young’s modulus.  相似文献

This study has concerned the development of polymer composite electrolytes based on poly(vinyl butyral) (PVB) reinforced with calcinated Li/titania (CLT) for use as an electrolyte in electrochemical devices. The primary aim of this work was to verify our concept of applying CLT-based fillers in a form of nano-backbone to enhance the performance of a solid electrolyte system. To introduce the network of CLT into the PVB matrix, gelatin was used as a sacrificial polymer matrix for the implementation of in situ sol–gel reactions. The gelatin/Li/titania nanofiber films with various lithium perchlorate (LiClO4) and titanium isopropoxide proportions were initially fabricated via electrospinning, and ionic conductivities of electrospun nanofibers were then examined at 25 °C. In this regard, the highest ionic conductivity of 2.55 × 10−6 S/cm was achieved when 10 wt% and 7.5 wt% loadings of LiClO4 and titania precursor were used, respectively. The nanofiber film was then calcined at 400 °C to remove gelatin, and the obtained CLT film was then re-dispersed in solvated PVB-lithium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide (PVB-LiTFSI) solution before casting to obtain reinforced composite solid electrolyte film. The reinforced composite PVB polymer electrolyte film shows high ionic conductivity of 2.22 × 10−4 S/cm with a wider electrochemical stability window in comparison to the one without nanofillers.

Various polyblends of poly(vinyl chloride) and polyurethane (PU) dissolved in a mixture of tetrahydrofuran and N,N‐dimethylformamide were produced by electrospinning, in different ratios, with several electrospinning conditions, and the relationship between morphology and mechanical behavior of the resulting fiber mats was examined in detail. The surface tension, viscosity, and electrical conductivity of polymer solutions affecting electrospinning were measured, and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) along with a universal testing machine were used to examine the family of polyblends under investigation. The SEM images demonstrated that point‐bonded structures in the fiber mats rose with increasing PU composition, and the mechanical properties of the fiber mats, as determined in a static tensile test, can be considered to have a strong effect by the point‐bonded structure. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In the present study, silver metal nanofibers have been successfully prepared by using the electrospinning technique. Silver nanofibers have been produced by electrospinning a sol-gel consisting of poly(vinyl alcohol) and silver nitrate. The dried nanofiber mats have been calcined at 850 degrees C in an argon atmosphere. The produced nanofibers do have distinct plasmon resonance compared with the reported silver nanoparticles. Contrary to the introduced shapes of silver nanoparticles, the nanofibers have a blue-shifted plasmon resonance at 330 nm. Moreover, the optical properties study indicated that the synthesized nanofibers have two band gap energies of 0.75 and 2.34 eV. An investigation of the electrical conductivity behavior of the obtained nanofibers shows thermal hystersis. These privileged physical features greatly widen the applications of the prepared nanofibers in various fields.  相似文献

In this study, a solvothermal method was used to synthesize anatase titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanoparticles in the presence of oleic acid (OA) and oleylamine (OM) as morphology‐directing agents. Functional nanocomposite fibers of poly(ethylene terephtalate) (PET) containing surfactants‐capped TiO2 nanoparticles were developed by electrospinning technique. The morphology, thermal stability and mechanical properties of PET/TiO2 nanocomposite mats were investigated as a function of TiO2 concentration. Morphology investigation showed interesting results in terms of the level of TiO2 dispersion inside the fibers and the improvement of the quality (smoothness) of the fibers' surface when the synthesized nanorhombic TiO2 nanoparticles were used compared to a commercial P25 TiO2 (AEROXIDE P25). The presence of OA and OM on the surface of the nanorhombic synthesized TiO2 led to a significant improvement of TiO2 dispersion inside the PET matrix. Furthermore, the physical interaction between the PET matrix and TiO2 nanoparticles resulted in an enhanced thermal stability, and an increase of the Young's modulus and tensile strength for TiO2 concentration up to 10 wt%.  相似文献

Submicron fibers of the composite of poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA), chitosan oligosaccharide [COS, (1→4)2-amino-2-deoxy-β-d-glucose], and montmorillonite clay (MMT) were prepared using electrospinning method with aqueous solutions. Scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), thermal gravimetric analyzer, and tensile strength testing machine (Zwick) were utilized to characterize the PVA/COS/MMT nanofiber mats morphology and properties. The PVA/COS ratio and MMT concentration play important roles in nanofiber mat properties. XRD and TEM data demonstrated that exfoliated MMT layers were well-distributed within nanofiber. It was also found that the mechanical property and thermal stability were increased with COS and MMT contents.  相似文献

Thermoplastic polyurethane/silica nanocomposite fibers with good mechanical properties were prepared by electrospinning, using colloidal silica as the source of silica and dimethyl formamide as the solvent. The fiber morphology was examined by field emission scanning electron microscopy. The average fiber diameter is about 0.8 μm with 0–10 wt % silica, and silica nanoparticles were observed on all fiber surfaces. X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy analysis of Si in combination with transmission electron microscopy observation suggest that silica nanoparticles have a fairly uniform distribution in the fibers rather than enriching on the fiber surfaces. Tensile tests show that the incorporation of silica nanoparticles can bring about a significant reinforcing effect without decreasing the ductility. The reinforcing effect is further confirmed by dynamic mechanical analysis. The thermoplastic polyurethane/silica composite fiber mats can adsorb gold nanoparticles after further treatment with 3‐aminopropyltriethoxysilane, demonstrating that the composite fibers could be used as functional fibers by using the properties of silica nanoparticles. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Novel bone-scaffolding materials were successfully fabricated by electrospinning from polycaprolactone (PCL) solutions containing nanoparticles of calcium carbonate (CaCO(3)) or hydroxyapatite (HA). The diameters of the as-spun fibers were found to increase with the addition and increasing amounts of the nanoparticles. The observed increase in the diameters of the as-spun fibers with the addition and increasing amounts of the nanoparticulate fillers was responsible for the observed increase in the tensile strength of the obtained fiber mats. An increase in the concentration of the base PCL solution caused the average diameter of the as-spun PCL/HA composite fibers to increase. Increasing applied electrical potential also resulted in an increase in the diameters of the obtained PCL/HA composite fibers. Lastly, indirect cytotoxicity evaluation of the electrospun mats of PCL, PCL/CaCO(3), and PCL/HA fibers based on human osteoblasts (SaOS2) and mouse fibroblasts (L929) revealed that these as-spun mats posed no threat to the cells, a result that implied their potential for utilization as bone-scaffolding materials.  相似文献

In this study, multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) were used to encapsulate a model anticancer drug, doxorubicin (Dox). Then, the drug-loaded MWCNTs (Dox/MWCNTs) with an optimized drug encapsulation percentage were mixed with poly(lactide-co-glycolide) (PLGA) polymer solution for subsequent electrospinning to form drug-loaded composite nanofibrous mats. The structure, morphology, and mechanical properties of the formed electrospun Dox/PLGA, MWCNTs/PLGA, and Dox/MWCNTs/PLGA composite nanofibrous mats were characterized using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and tensile testing. In vitro viability assay and SEM morphology observation of mouse fibroblast cells cultured onto the MWCNTs/PLGA fibrous scaffolds demonstrate that the developed MWCNTs/PLGA composite nanofibers are cytocompatible. The incorporation of Dox-loaded MWCNTs within the PLGA nanofibers is able to improve the mechanical durability and maintain the three-dimensional structure of the nanofibrous mats. More importantly, our results indicate that this double-container drug delivery system (both PLGA polymer and MWCNTs are drug carriers) is beneficial to avoid the burst release of the drug and able to release the antitumor drug Dox in a sustained manner for 42 days. The developed composite electrospun nanofibrous drug delivery system may be used as therapeutic scaffold materials for post-operative local chemotherapy.  相似文献

In the paper, we successfully prepared spider silk fibroins (Ss)/poly( d, l-lactide) (PDLLA) composite fibrous nonwoven mats for the first time to the best of our knowledge. The morphology of the fibers was observed by a scanning electron microscope (SEM) and transmission electron microscope (TEM). The secondary structure change of the spidroin before and after electrospinning was characterized using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). Herein, a qualitative analysis of the conformational changes of the silk protein was performed by analyzing the FT-IR second-derivative spectra, from which quantitative information was obtained via the deconvolution of the amide I band. A mechanical test was carried out to investigate the tensile strength and the elongation at break. A water contact angle (CA) measurement was also performed to characterize surface properties of the fibers. The cytotoxicity of electrospun PDLLA and Ss-PDLLA nonwoven fibrous mats was evaluated based on a CCL 81(Vero) cells proliferation study. The results showed that the hydrophilic and mechanical property of the composite fiber were improved by introducing spidroin.  相似文献

Efficient characterization of the distribution of antimicrobial agents within a polymer matrix is of vital importance. Two antimicrobial agents, chitin nanowhiskers (ChNWs) and chitosan-based silver nanoparticles (CTSAgNPs), were produced and incorporated separately as well as combined into a poly(ethylene-co-vinyl alcohol) (EVOH) matrix by way of electrospinning. Correlative light and electron microscopy (CLEM) and energy dispersive X-ray mapping provided a holistic approach to visualize the distribution of the combinations of AgNPs and ChNWs within EVOH fibers. CLEM analysis revealed the tendency of the ChNWs to align themselves on the surface of the fibers, while the silver nanoparticles were localized inside the polymer matrix.  相似文献

A facile three-step method is developed to prepare new titania fibers with various special structures using a standard electrospinning equipment. After the traditional electrospinning, a treatment process, such as storing in air and soaking in water, for electrospun composite fibers is added before the calcination. Based on a given electrospinning solution and corresponding composite fiber, the structure of titania fiber is easily adjusted to be rough surface, fiber-in-tube, or a string of many particles by controlling the treating parameters and the calcination temperature, so this method shows a great potential of producing ceramic nanofibers with controlled structures for a large-scale production using a standard electrospinning equipment. The origin behind the morphological change of titania electrospun fibers is intensely studied. The results indicate that the surface structure of titania electrospun fiber formed during the storing period, will become the key factor on the formation of special titania fiber structure during the calcination process with different temperatures.  相似文献

Raman spectroscopy is a powerful technique that is used to characterize or observe alterations in the structure or properties of carbon nanotubes and its composites. This method can provide information about electronic changes or quantify them. We used Raman spectroscopy to study the chemical and electronic changes in a composite formed by titanium dioxide nanoparticles and single-walled carbon nanotubes. This composite was characterized by scanning electron microscopy to investigate the morphology and by thermogravimetric analyses to assess the thermal stability of the isolated carbon nanotubes as compared with the nanotubes by titanium dioxide nanoparticles. The Raman results showed that the modification of the nanotubes with the TiO2 nanoparticles generates a new material with different structure of the nanotubes, resulting in a decrease in defects. The charge transfer from the TiO2 nanoparticles to the nanotubes alters the electronic properties of both moieties in the hybrid material. The interaction between the nanotubes and nanoparticles decreases the CC bound order of the nanotubes and decreases their thermal stability.  相似文献

Bicomponent nanofibers of N-carboxyethylchitosan (CECh) and poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) were obtained by electrospinning of mixed aqueous solutions. The electrospinning of CECh-containing nanofibers was enabled by the ability of PVA to form an elastically deformable entanglement network based on hydrogen bonds. The average diameters of the bicomponent fibers were in the range 100-420 nm. Water-resistant nanofibrous mats were obtained by thermal crosslinking at 100 °C for 10 h. Nanofibrous materials with 1D-, 1D-transversery or 3D fiber alignment were obtained depending on the type of the collector used.  相似文献

Nano-TiO2 with anionic surface active agent sodium dodecylsulfate (SDS) modified, the poly(vinyl alcohol)/sodium alginate/TiO2 composite films were prepared by method of solution blending representing. The structure of the films was analyzed by XRD and SEM. In addition, air permeability rate, swelling ratio, light transmittance, mechanical properties, and antibacterial properties were tested. The results showed that in compound membrane there was a strong force between poly(vinyl alcohol)/sodium alginate and TiO2 particles, indicating that there was good compatibility between the sodium alginate and the poly(vinyl alcohol). The mixed membranes were of good water resistance, tensile strength, and closure. When the titanium dioxide content increased appropriately, they had very good mechanical properties. In addition, the antibacterial properties of composite membrane gradually increased with the increase in the TiO2content.  相似文献

New forms of hybrid multiaxial nanocomposites with enhanced mechanical and stab resisting properties are presented. This study is motivated by the lack of knowledge in the study of the multiaxial fabric nanocomposites with two modified thermoplastic matrices for antiballistic protection. Introduction of 5 wt.% silica nanoparticles in the composite of polyurethane/p‐aramid/poly (vinyl butyral) leads to significant improvement in mechanical properties, and the addition of silane as a coupling agents and glutaraldehyde as a crosslinking agents yielded maximal values of storage modulus, tensile modulus and anti‐stabbing properties for hybrid nanocomposites. Ballistic resistance testing and penetration depth of the hybrid nanocomposites were visualized using image analysis. Copyright © 2013 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Electro-oxidation of methanol in sulfuric acid solution was studied using palladium well-dispersed on titanium nanotubes, in relation to methanol oxidation processes in the direct oxidation methanol fuel cell. Pd dispersed on titania nanotubes, which leads to high surface area substrates, showed excellent catalytic activities compared to those of pure Pd and Pd-TiO2 nanoparticles. TEM results show a narrow distribution of TiO2 nanoparticles whose particle size is about 10 nm, and uniform nano-sized TiO2 nanotubes with 10 nm in diameters are seen from HRTEM . A homogeneous structure in the composite nanomaterials is indicated by XRD analysis. The composite electrode activities were measured by cyclic voltammetry (CV) and at 25 °C it was found that 3 wt% Pd in titania nanotubes had the best activity for methanol oxidation.  相似文献

GeO2 fibers: preparation, morphology and photoluminescence property   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Nanomicron to submicron fibers of GeO(2) have been prepared using poly(vinyl acetate) and germanium dioxide sol by electrospinning followed by high temperature calcination. The morphology of the fibers have been studied by scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and atomic force microscopy. X-ray diffraction indicates that the fibers are single crystal with hexagonal alpha-phase quartz-like structure. At room temperature, the fibers show photoluminescence under excitation at 325 nm. The fibers may have potential applications in one-dimensional optoelectronic nanodevices.  相似文献
