Optical absorption, thermoluminescence, infrared spectra and differential thermal analysis of three different tellurite glass systems viz., ZnF2-As2O3-TeO2, ZnF2-Bi2O3-TeO2 and ZnF2-P2O5-TeO2 containing 0.4% of Cr2O3, have been investigated. Results have been analysed in the light of different oxidation states of chromium ion and the most suitable host for lasing Cr3+ ions has been identified and reported.  相似文献

Li2O-CaF2-P2O5 glasses mixed with different concentrations of Cr2O3 (ranging from 0 to 1.0 mol%) were crystallized. The samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), differential thermal analysis and conventional spectroscopic techniques. The X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopic studies reveal the presence of lithium phosphate, calcium phosphate and chromium phosphate (complexes of Cr3+, Cr5+ and Cr6+ ions) crystal phases. The study on DTA suggests that the crystallization is predominantly due to the surface crystallization when the concentration of nucleating agent Cr2O3 is around 0.8 mol%. The IR and Raman spectral studies of these samples indicate that the sample crystallized with 0.8 mol% Cr2O3 is more compact and possesses high rigidity due to the presence of chromium ions largely in tetrahedral positions.  相似文献

ZnF2-P2O5-TeO2 glasses containing different concentrations of MnO (ranging from 0 to 0.6%) were prepared. A number of studies, viz. differential thermal analysis, optical absorption, thermo luminescence, infrared spectra, magnetic susceptibility, elastic properties (Young's modulus Y, shear modulus n and micro hardness H) and dielectric properties (constant ε, loss tan δ, a.c. conductivity σac over a range of frequency and temperature and dielectric breakdown strength), of these glasses were carried out as a function of manganese ion concentration. The analysis of the results indicate manganese ions mostly exist in Mn2+ state in these glasses when the concentration of MnO≤0.4% and above this concentration manganese ions predominantly exist in Mn3+ state; from this analysis an attempt is made to identify the role of these ions on the stability of glass network.  相似文献

Room temperature electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectra and temperature dependent magnetic susceptibility data have been obtained on bulk x(ZnO,Fe2O3)(65−x)SiO220(CaO, P2O5)15Na2O (6≤x≤21 mole%) glasses prepared by melt quenching method. EPR spectra of the glasses revealed absorptions centered at g≈2.1 and 4.3. The variations of the intensity and line width of these absorption lines with composition have been interpreted in terms of the variation in the concentration of the Fe2+ and Fe3+ ions in the glass and the interaction between the iron ions. EPR and magnetic susceptibility data of the glasses reveal that both Fe2+ and Fe3+ ions are present in the glasses, with their relative concentration being dependent on the glass composition. The studies reveal superexchange type interactions in these glasses, which are strongly dependent on their iron content.  相似文献

Li2O-ZrO2-SiO2: Ho3+ glasses mixed with three interesting d-block elemental oxides, viz., Nb2O5, Ta2O5 and La2O3, were prepared. Optical absorption and photoluminescence spectra of these glasses have been recorded at room temperature. The luminescence spectra of Nb2O5 and Ta2O5 mixed Li2O-ZrO2-SiO2 glasses (free of Ho3+ ions) have also exhibited broad emission band in the blue region. This band is attributed to radiative recombination of self-trapped excitons (STEs) localized on substitutionally positioned octahedral Ta5+ and Nb5+ ions in the glass network. The Judd-Ofelt theory was successfully applied to characterize Ho3+ spectra of all the three glasses. From this theory various radiative properties, like transition probability A, branching ratio βr and the radiative lifetime τr, for 5S2 emission levels in the spectra of these glasses have been evaluated. The radiative lifetime for 5S2 level of Ho3+ ions has also been measured and quantum efficiencies were estimated. Among the three glasses studied the La2O3 mixed glass exhibited the highest quantum efficiency. The reasons for such higher value have been discussed based on the relationship between the structural modifications taking place around the Ho3+ ions.  相似文献

Electron paramagnetic resonance and optical investigations of copper and chromium doped LiRbB4O7 glasses are carried out. From the results and discussions, it is predicted that both the transition metal ions exhibit octahedral environment. In the case of Cr3+, the site symmetry is near octahedral, whereas in the case of Cu2+, it is tetragonally distorted octahedral environment. Crystal field, spin-Hamiltonian and bonding parameters are evaluated. The bonding parameters are suggesting ionic.  相似文献

The X-band EPR spectra of Cr3+, Mn2+, and Fe3+ impurity ions in glasses of (CaO?Ga2O3?GeO2) system are investigated in the 77÷300 K temperature range. The experimental data analysis yields the following results: (i) Impurity chromium ions are incorporated into the (CaO?Ga2O3?GeO2) glasses network in Cr3+ (3d3,4F3/2) paramagnetic valence state only and occupy the strong distorted oxygen coordinated octahedral sites. (ii) For all activated and non-activated (CaO?Ga2O3?GeO2) glasses the iron impurity is present at concentration roughly 0.01 wt.%. Isotropic EPR signals atg eff=4.29 andg eff=2.00 are assigned to Fe3+ (3d5,6S5/2) ions in the sites with strong rhombic distortion and in the sites with nearly cubic symmetry respectively. (iii) The manganese EPR spectrum in (CaO?Ga2O3?GeO2) glasses is weakly dependent on temperature, doping procedure as well as manganese concentration. EPR spectra of impurity manganese ions in glasses with Ca3Ga2Ge3O12 and Ca3Ga2Ge4O14 compositions are virtually identical and belong to Mn2+ (3d5,6S5/2) ions. Impurity manganese ions are incorporated into the (CaO?Ga2O3?GeO2) glass network as isolated Mn2+ centres and clusters of Mn2+ ions.  相似文献

Magnesium aluminate (MgAl2O4) doped with trivalent chromium (Cr3+) was synthesized by the combustion method. The prepared sample was characterized by X-ray powder diffraction, Brunauer-Emmet-Teller (BET) adsorption isotherms and diffuse-reflectance UV-vis spectroscopy techniques. Electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) and photoluminescence (PL) studies have been performed at room temperature and at 110 K. The EPR spectrum exhibit resonance signals at g=5.37, 4.53, 3.82, 2.26 and 1.96 characteristic of Cr3+ ions. The luminescence of Cr3+-activated MgAl2O4 exhibits a red emission peak around 686 nm from the synthesized phosphor particles upon 551 nm excitation. The luminescence is assigned to a transition from the upper 2Eg4A2g ground state of Cr3+ ions. By correlating EPR and optical data the crystal field splitting parameter (Dq), Racah inter-electronic repulsion parameter (B) and the bonding parameters have been evaluated and discussed. The bonding parameters suggests that the ionic nature of Cr3+ ions with the ligands and the Cr3+ ions are in distorted octrahedral environment.  相似文献

3-mol% Y2O3 and 0.3 to 3-mol % Cr2O3 co-doped ZrO2 nanopowders were synthesized using co-precipitation technique and investigated by terms of X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Structural analysis shows no significant impact of chromium on powders structure except of presence of small amount of m-phase. Surface analysis reveals segregation of yttrium and chromium atoms to the surface along with surface enrichment by oxygen that can be attributed to residual water. Chromium surface atoms present in three oxidation states with catalytically active Cr2+ sites possibly controlling m-phase appearance through lattice distortion.  相似文献

Zinc phosphate glasses doped with Gd2O3:Eu nanoparticles and Eu2O3 were prepared by conventional melt-quench method and characterized for their luminescence properties. Binary ZnO-P2O5 glass is characterized by an intrinsic defect centre emission around 324 nm. Strong energy transfer from these defect centres to Eu3+ ions has been observed when Eu2O3 is incorporated in ZnO-P2O5 glasses. Lack of energy transfer from these defect centres to Eu3+ in Gd2O3:Eu nanoparticles doped ZnO-P2O5 glass has been attributed to effective shielding of Eu3+ ions from the luminescence centre by Gd-O-P type of linkages, leading to an increased distance between the luminescent centre and Eu3+ ions. Both doped and undoped glasses have the same glass transition temperature, suggesting that the phosphate network is not significantly affected by the Gd2O3:Eu nanoparticles or Eu2O3 incorporation.  相似文献

Blue light-emitting glasses were successfully prepared by doping Eu2+ ions in the system Al2O3-SiO2. The Al2O3-SiO2 glasses doped with Eu3+ ions were synthesized using a sol-gel method, followed by heating in hydrogen gas atmosphere to reduce into the Eu2+ ions. The obtained glasses exhibited emission spectra with peak at ∼450 nm due to 4f65d→4f7 (8S7/2) transition, the intensities of which strongly changed depending on their glass composition and heating conditions. The emission quantum efficiency of 48% was achieved by heating the glass with the ratio of Al3+ to Eu3+ at about 6 at 1000 °C in hydrogen gas atmosphere. It was found that the Al2O3-SiO2 glasses were appropriate not only for homogeneously doping the Eu3+ ions in glass structure but also reducing to Eu2+ ions, resulting in enhanced blue light-emission properties.  相似文献

Cr/SiO2 catalysts with 1 or 3 wt.% Cr loadings and different chromium precursors were characterized by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). A method to determine chromium species in the sample was developed through the decomposition of the Cr 2p XPS spectrum in Cr6+ and Cr3+ standard spectra. The results of the binding energy from the Cr 2p region and of the distribution of chromium species allowed to evaluate the dynamic photo-reduction of the surface chromium species during XPS analysis. Photo-reduction of surface Cr6+ to Cr3+ species was verified for all samples supported in silica, depending on the precursor and chromium content. Bulk CrO3 and Cr2O3 standards did not reveal variation in the binding energy of Cr 2p3/2, but a physical mixture of CrO3 with SiO2 presented photo-reduction. The behavior of this mixture resembled to the catalysts and suggests the participation of the surface hydroxyls of silica in the photo-reduction process. XPS intensity measurements for assessing dispersion of chromium oxide were used to compare the calcined and reduced catalysts to different chromium precursors. Polyethylene chains were detected by in situ XPS, while oligomerization products were not observed.  相似文献

Binary (ZnO)0.5(P2O5)0.5 glasses doped with Eu2O3 and nanoparticles of Gd2O3:Eu were prepared by conventional melt-quench method and their luminescence properties were compared. Undoped (ZnO)0.5(P2O5)0.5 glass is characterized by a luminescent defect centre (similar to L-centre present in Na2O-SiO2 glasses) with emission around 324 nm and having an excited state lifetime of 18 ns. Such defect centres can transfer the energy to Eu3+ ions leading to improved Eu3+ luminescence from such glasses. Based on the decay curves corresponding to the 5D0 level of Eu3+ ions in both Gd2O3:Eu nanoparticles incorporated as well as Eu2O3 incorporated glasses, a significant clustering of Eu3+ ions taking place with the latter sample is confirmed. From the lifetime studies of the excited state of L-centre emission from (ZnO)0.5(P2O5)0.5 glass doped with Gd2O3:Eu nanoparticles, it is established that there exists weak energy transfer from L-centres to Eu3+ ions. Poor energy transfer from the defect centres to Eu3+ ions in Gd2O3:Eu nanoparticles doped (ZnO)0.5(P2O5)0.5 glass has been attributed to effective shielding of Eu3+ ions from the luminescence centre by Gd-O-P type of linkages, leading to an increased distance between luminescent centre and Eu3+ ions.  相似文献

20LiF-(30−x)Sb2O3-50B2O3:xNiO glasses with the value of x (ranging from 0 to 1.0 mol% in steps of 0.2) were prepared. A number of studies, viz. differential scanning calorimetry, optical absorption, magnetic susceptibility and thermoluminescence, on these glasses were carried out as a function of nickel ion concentration. An anomaly has been observed in all the properties of these glasses when NiO concentration is about 0.6 mol%. The results of these studies were analysed in the light of different environments of nickel ions in the glass network.  相似文献

The properties of Cr3+-doped Li2Ge7O15 (LGO) lithium germanate nanocrystals produced in lithium germanate glasses under isothermal heating were studied. The samples were characterized by x-ray diffraction and small-angle scattering, as well as by transmission electron microscopy. The luminescence spectra of the impurity chromium measured in lithium germanate glasses containing LGO crystals revealed transitions in Cr3+ ions residing in the glass phase and in LGO crystallites starting from extremely small clusters. This provided the possibility of following the process of crystallization of the lithium germanate glass from Cr3+ luminescence spectra. The effects observed in the Cr3+ luminescence spectrum revealed a ferroelectric phase transition in LGO nanocrystals embedded in the glass.  相似文献

Photoluminescence of undoped and Cr3+-doped β-Ga2O3 was investigated. The transparent, undoped β-Ga2O3 film was successfully prepared by thermal conversion from GaOOH. The film exhibited predominant green luminescence in response to ultraviolet light excitation at 250 nm. This luminescence behavior, which was proposed to result from the oxygen defect centers, was used in examining excitation and emission mechanisms for Cr3+ ions doped in β-Ga2O3. It was found that red luminescence of Cr3+ surpasses green luminescence of the host lattice, as evidenced by the dependence of the spectral structure on the Cr3+ concentration. The excitation of Cr3+ was then suggested to be caused by the energy transfer from Ga3+O6 octahedra present in the monoclinic β-Ga2O3 lattice.  相似文献

EPR and magnetic susceptibility experiments have been performed on x(CuO·MnO)(1?x)[2B2O3·K2O] glasses with x varying in the range 0?x?50 mol.%. For x?3 mol.% both Cu2+ and Mn2+ ions are present mostly as the isolated species. The increase of the g-tensor values and bonding parameters (α2, β2, δ2) for Cu2+ ions together with the increase of TM ions concentration in the 0.2–1 mol.% range was noticed. In the case of 5 ? x ? 30 mol.% the dipole-dipole and superexchange interactions occur between transition metal ions, the first type of interactions prevailing in this range of concentration. For x30 mol.% the superexchange interaction prevail. The strong interaction between Cu2+ and Mn2+ gives rise to the exchange coupled Cu2+Mn2+ pairs in the studied glasses with x 3 mol.%.  相似文献

Lead bismuth arsenate glasses mixed with different concentrations of WO3 (ranging from 0 to 6.0 mol%) were synthesized. Differential thermal analysis (DTA), optical absorption, ESR and IR spectral studies have been carried out. The results of DTA have indicated that there is a gradual decrease in the resistance of the glass against devitrification with increase in the concentration of WO3 upto 4.0 mol%.The optical absorption spectra of these glasses exhibited a relatively broad band peaking at about 880 nm identified due to dxydx2y2 transition of W5+ ions; this band is observed to be more intense in the spectrum of glass containing 4.0 mol% of WO3. Further, two prominent kinks attributed to 3P01S0, 1D2 transitions of Bi3+ ions have also been located in the absorption spectra. The ESR spectra of these glasses recorded at room temperature exhibited an asymmetric signal at g∼1.71 and gll∼1.61. The intensity of the signal is observed to be maximal for the spectrum of the glass W4. The quantitative analysis of optical absorption and ESR spectral studies have indicated that there is a maximum reduction of tungsten ions from W6+ state to W5+ state in the glass containing 4.0 mol% of WO3. The IR spectral studies have indicated that there is a increasing degree of disorder in the glass network with increase in the concentration of WO3 upto 4.0 mol%.  相似文献

In this study, the principal role of Al2O3 on the features of the photoluminescence spectra of Tm3+ ion and upconversion phenomenon in Tm3+ and Er3+ codoped CaF2−Al2O3−P2O5−SiO2 glass system has been investigated. The concentration of Al2O3 is varied from 2 to 10 mol% while that of Er3+ and Tm3+ is fixed. IR and Raman spectral studies have indicated that there is a gradual increase in the degree of disorder in the glass network with increase in the concentration of Al2O3 up to 6.0 mol%. This is attributed to the presence of Al3+ ions in octahedral positions in larger proportions. When the glasses are doped with Tm3+ ions, the blue and red emissions were observed, whereas in Er3+ doped glasses blue, green and red emissions were observed. When the glasses are codoped with Tm3+ and Er3+ ions and excited at 790 nm, all the three emission lines were observed to be reinforced, especially in the glasses mixed with 6.0 mol% of Al2O3. The IR emission band detected at about 1.8 μm due to 3F43H6 transition of Tm3+ ions is also observed to be strengthened due to codoping. The reasons for enhancement in the intensity of various emission bands due to codoping have been identified and discussed with the help of rate equations for various emission transitions.  相似文献
