The excitation energy of Brooker's merocyanine in water–methanol mixtures shows nonlinear behavior with respect to the mole fraction of methanol, and it was suggested that this behavior is related to preferential solvation by methanol. We investigated the origin of this behavior and its relation to preferential solvation using the three‐dimensional reference interaction site model self‐consistent field method and time‐dependent density functional theory. The calculated excitation energies were in good agreement with the experimental behavior. Analysis of the coordination numbers revealed preferential solvation by methanol. The free energy component analysis implied that solvent reorganization and solvation entropy drive the preferential solvation by methanol, while the direct solute–solvent interaction promotes solvation by water. The difference in the preferential solvation effect on the ground and excited states causes the nonlinear excitation energy shift. © 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

The free energy of solvation for a large number of representative solutes in various solvents has been calculated from the polarizable continuum model coupled to molecular dynamics computer simulation. A new algorithm based on the Voronoi-Delaunay triangulation of atom-atom contact points between the solute and the solvent molecules is presented for the estimation of the solvent-accessible surface surrounding the solute. The volume of the inscribed cavity is used to rescale the cavitational contribution to the solvation free energy for each atom of the solute atom within scaled particle theory. The computation of the electrostatic free energy of solvation is performed using the Voronoi-Delaunay surface around the solute as the boundary for the polarizable continuum model. Additional short-range contributions to the solvation free energy are included directly from the solute-solvent force field for the van der Waals-type interactions. Calculated solvation free energies for neutral molecules dissolved in benzene, water, CCl4, and octanol are compared with experimental data. We found an excellent correlation between the experimental and computed free energies of solvation for all the solvents. In addition, the employed algorithm for the cavity creation by Voronoi-Delaunay triangulation is compared with the GEPOL algorithm and is shown to predict more accurate free energies of solvation, especially in solvents composed by molecules with nonspherical molecular shapes.  相似文献

Solvation characteristics of 2,6-diphenyl-4-(2,4,6-triphenyl-1-pyridino)phenolate in completely miscible ternary solvent mixtures (viz., methanol + acetone + water, methanol + acetone + benzene, and methanol + chloroform + benzene) have been studied by using an electronic spectroscopic procedure. The transition energy (E) corresponding to the charge-transfer band maximum of the solute in a ternary solvent mixture differs significantly from the average E-values in the component solvents weighted by the mole fraction of the solvents. A two-phase model of solvation has been invoked to explain the results. The excess or deficit of solvent components in the local region of the solute molecule over that in the bulk has been estimated using the knowledge of solvation in binary solvent mixtures.  相似文献

The acidity constants of some synthetic derivatives of 9,10-anthraquinone and 9-anthrone in methanol-water mixtures at 25 degrees have been determined spectrophotometrically. A linear reverse relationship is observed between pK(a1) of all acids and the mole fraction of methanol. The influence of substituents in the molecular structure on the ionization constants is discussed.  相似文献

A further investigation of the leaves and stems of Saprosma scortechinii afforded 13 compounds, of which 10 are new compounds. These were elucidated as the bis-iridoid glucosides, saprosmosides G (1) and H (2), the iridoid glucoside, 6-O-epi-acetylscandoside (3), and the anthraquinones, 1-methoxy-3-hydroxy-2-carbomethoxy-9,10-anthraquinone (4), 1-methoxy-3-hydroxy-2-carbomethoxy-9,10-anthraquinone 3-O-beta-primeveroside (5), 1,3-dihydroxy-2-carbomethoxy-9,10-anthraquinone 3-O-beta-primeveroside (6), 1,3,6-trihydroxy-2-methoxymethyl-9,10-anthraquinone (7), 1-methoxy-3,6-dihydroxy-2-hydroxymethyl-9,10-anthraquinone (8), 1,3,6-trihydroxy-2-hydroxymethyl-9,10-anthraquinone 3-O-beta-primeveroside (9), and 3,6-dihydroxy-2-hydroxymethyl-9,10-anthraquinone (10). Structure assignments for all compounds were established by means of mass and NMR spectroscopies, chemical methods, and comparison with published data. The new anthraquinones were derivatives of munjistin and lucidin.  相似文献

Solvation characteristics of a ketocyanine dye have been studied in completely miscible ternary solvent mixtures, namely, methanol + acetone + water and methanol + acetone + benzene, by monitoring the solvatochromic absorption band of the dye. The maximum energy of absorption (E) of the solute in a ternary solvent mixture differs significantly from the mole fraction average of the E values in the component solvents. Results in the corresponding binary solvent mixtures also show a deviation of the E value from the mole fraction averaged E values. The results have been explained in terms of preferential solvation using a two phase model of solvation. The excess or deficit over the bulk composition of a solvent component in the vicinity of the solute molecule in a ternary solvent mixture has been estimated using the knowledge of solvation in the corresponding binary mixtures.  相似文献

The enthalpies of solution of uracil and its alkylated derivatives in water, methanol, N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF) and water+DMF mixtures were measured at 25°C. The enthalpies of solvation were determined. The enthalpies of cavity formation, corresponding to the enthalpies of solvent-solvent interactions were calculated and the enthalpies of solute-solvent interactions were obtained. The presence of the alkyl groups was found to have different effects on the enthalpy of interaction depending on the position and size of the substitution. The effect of alkylation at the nonpolar side of the uracil ring was found to arise mostly from the enhancement of the van der Waals interactions. The alkyl substitutions at the polar side resulted also in the removal of the solvent molecules interacting specifically with the polar groups of uracil. The enthalpy of those specific interactions was determined and found to be stronger in methanol and DMF than in water. Enthalpies of solvation in the binary water+DMF solvent were found to depend in a nonlinear way on the solvent composition. The nonlinearities in the water-rich region were found to arise from the decay of the hydrophobic hydration of the solutes with the increasing DMF content. The substitution of two methyl groups caused the uracil molecule to bahave as a predominantly hydrophobic solute. The nonlinearities in the DMF-rich region were found only for those solutes which can form hydrogen bonds with DMF.  相似文献

In this work the enthalpy of the solute-solvent interaction of erythritol and L-threitol in aqueous solution was determined from the values obtained for the enthalpy of solvation. The values for this property were calculated from those determined for the enthalpies of solution and sublimation. To determine the values of the enthalpy of solute-solvent interaction, the solvation process is considered as taking place in three steps: opening a cavity in the solvent to hold the solute molecule, changing the solute conformation when it passes from the gas phase into solution, and interaction between the solute and the solvent molecules. The cavity enthalpy was calculated by the scaled particle theory and the conformational enthalpy change was estimated from the value of this function in the gas phase and in solution. Both terms were determined by DFT calculations. The solvent effect on the solute conformation in solution was estimated using the CPCM solvation model. The importance of the cavity and conformational terms in the interpretation of the enthalpy of solvation is noted. While the cavity term has been used by some authors, the conformational term is considered for the first time. The structural features in aqueous solution of erythritol and L-threitol are discussed.  相似文献

Dichloromethane root extract of Rennellia elliptica Korth. showed strong inhibition of Plasmodium falciparum growth in vitro with an IC?? value of 4.04 μg/mL. A phytochemical study of the dichloromethane root extract has led to the isolation and characterization of a new anthraquinone, 1,2-dimethoxy-6-methyl-9,10-anthraquinone (1), and ten known anthraquinones: 1-hydroxy-2-methoxy-6-methyl-9,10-anthraquinone (2), nordamnacanthal (3), 2-formyl-3-hydroxy-9,10-anthraquinone (4), damnacanthal (5), lucidin-ω-methyl ether (6), 3-hydroxy-2-methyl-9,10-anthraquinone (7), rubiadin (8), 3-hydroxy-2-methoxy-6-methyl-9,10-anthraquinone (9), rubiadin-1-methyl ether (10) and 3-hydroxy-2-hydroxymethyl-9,10-anthraquinone (11). Structural elucidation of all compounds was accomplished by modern spectroscopic methods, notably 1D and 2D NMR, IR, UV and HREIMS. The new anthraquinone 1, 2-formyl-3-hydroxy-9,10-anthraquinone (4) and 3-hydroxy-2-methyl-9,10-anthraquinone (7) possess strong antiplasmodial activity, with IC?? values of 1.10, 0.63 and 0.34 μM, respectively.  相似文献

Semiempirical molecular orbital theory has been used to study the effects of solvation by acetonitrile on the Stevens rearrangement of methylammonium formylmethylide to 2-aminopropanal. Three methods of solvation have been used to investigate both the electrostatic and specific solvent–solute effects of solvation: a supermolecule calculation involving the complete geometry optimization of up to six solvent molecules about the solute, the conductor-like screening model (COSMO) polarizable continuum method which allows for geometry optimization of the solute in a solvent defined by its dielectric constant, and a hybrid method in which up to five solvent molecules are incorporated inside the solute cavity and complete geometry optimization of the complex is carried out within the polarizable continuum. A comparison of the calculated geometries, rearrangement activation energies, and enthalpies of solvation from these approaches is presented, and the explicit versus bulk solvation effects are discussed. The overall effect of all methods for incorporating solvation effects is that the radical pair pathway is perferred over the concerted mechanism. © 1996 by John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

The solvent effects on the electronic absorption spectra of 9,10-anthraquinone (AQ) and its symmetric dihydroxy derivatives namely 1,5-dihydroxyanthraquinone (1,5-DHAQ) and 2,6-dihydroxyanthraquinone (2,6-DHAQ) have been studied in pure solvents and some binary solvent mixtures. The frequencies of the absorption for AQ and 2,6-DHAQ are quite solvent sensitive while those for 1,5-DHAQ are not. Due to the intramolecular hydrogen bond between the CO and OH groups, no influence of solvent hydrogen bond acceptors is observed in 1,5-DHAQ. This hydrogen bond gives a stable six member cycle which is not broken even by the strongest hydrogen bond acceptor solvents used in this work, such as DMSO and DMF. The Taft and Kamlet's solvatochromic comparison method was applied for AQ and 2,6-DHAQ. Aromatic solvents and aliphatic amines were not included in the correlations since they strongly deviate suggesting another type of interactions. All the π→π* bands of AQ and 2,6-DHAQ show strong influence of π* despite the fact that their dipole moment is zero. Although it would be reasonable to expect that in the absence of a solute dipole moment there is not significant orientation of solvent molecules around the solute molecules, in this case dipolar interactions between solute and solvent due to local effects might be expected. AQ may be considered as formed by two carbonyl groups weakly interacting with the benzene rings; that means that the carbonyl group can behave as an isolated dipole and independently of the other. To detect possible specific interactions between the AQ and aliphatic amines and aromatic hydrocarbons, preferential solvation in mixed solvent was investigated. It is concluded that EDA interactions are important in the solvation of AQ with these compounds as solvents.  相似文献

7-Hydroxy-5-(2-methoxyphenyl)-2-methyl-6-R-1,4-naphthoquinones, 8-hydroxy-1-(2-methoxyphenyl)-3-oxo-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-9,10-anthraquinone, and 2-ethoxycarbonyl-8-hydroxy-1-(2-methoxyphenyl)-3-trimethylsiloxy-1,1a,4,4a-tetrahydro-9,10-anthraquinone were synthesized by reactions of 1-(2-methoxyphenyl)-2-R-3-trimethylsiloxy-1,3-butadienes with 2-bromo-5-methyl-1,4-benzoquinone and juglone. 1-Aryl-2-ethoxycarbonyl-3-trimethylsiloxy-1,3-butadienes reacted with 1,4-naphthoquinone to afford 1-aryl-2-ethoxycarbonyl-3-hydroxy-9,10-anthraquinones and their 4,4a-dihydro derivatives.  相似文献

Solubilities of L-cystine, L-tyrosine, and L-leucine in aqueous NaCl media at 298.15 K have been studied. Indispensable and related solvent parameters such as molar mass, molar volume, etc., were also determined. The results are used to evaluate the standard transfer Gibbs free energy, cavity forming enthalpy of transfer, cavity forming transfer Gibbs free energy and dipole-dipole interaction effects during the course of solvation. Various weak interactions involving solute–solvent or solvent–solvent molecules were characterized in order to find their role on the solvation of these amino acids.  相似文献

The influence of solvent properties on acidity constants of some newly synthesized 9,10-anthraquinone and 9-anthrone derivatives was studied in methanol-water mixtures in a composition range of 0.57 to 1.0 methanol mole fraction. The model was established by using both multiple linear regression and target factor analysis. Both methods revealed that the solvent polarity/polarizability parameter * is a major factor in controlling the acidity behavior of the anthraquinones and anthrones studied in binary methanol-water mixed solvents. A QSPR study was conducted to drive the relationships between the * coefficient s and the polarity/polarizability of molecules. Both dipole moment and polarizability were found to have a linear relationship with s. The results confirm that, in the dipolar protic solvents used, the dipole-dipole interaction (for neutral molecules) and the ion-dipole interaction (for ionized molecules) are the major factors controlling the acidity behavior of these compounds.  相似文献

A new approach to the calculation of the free energy of solvation from trajectories obtained by molecular dynamics simulation is presented. The free energy of solvation is computed as the sum of three contributions originated at the cavitation of the solute by the solvent, the solute-solvent nonpolar (repulsion and dispersion) interactions, and the electrostatic solvation of the solute. The electrostatic term is calculated based on ideas developed for the broadly used continuum models, the cavitational contribution from the excluded volume by the Claverie-Pierotti model, and the Van der Waals term directly from the molecular dynamics simulation. The proposed model is tested for diluted aqueous solutions of simple molecules containing a variety of chemically important functions: methanol, methylamine, water, methanethiol, and dichloromethane. These solutions were treated by molecular dynamics simulations using SPC/E water and the OPLS force field for the organic molecules. Obtained free energies of solvation are in very good agreement with experimental data.  相似文献

Starting from a density functional theory (DFT) formalism describing the energy change from one ground state representing an isolated solute, to another one representing the same solute in the field of the solvent, it is possible to obtain a simple and useful expression for the solvation energy in terms of the variation of the electronic chemical potential and global hardness associated to the change from gas to solution phase. Since both properties may be obtained from an orbital theory within the approximate Self Consistent Reaction Field (SCRF) methodology, the proposed model is expected to be useful for the analysis of chemical reactivity in solution.  相似文献

The enthalpy of solution of trans-cyclohexyl-1,4-diamine and cis-cyclohexyl-1,2-diamine in water was determined by calorimetry. The enthalpy of hydration was determined from this quantity and from the enthalpy of sublimation/vaporization presented in another paper by the authors. Considering the solvation process resulting from cavity creation in the solvent and variation of solute conformation transfer steps, the enthalpy corresponding to solute–solvent interaction was estimated. The entropies of solvation and interaction were calculated from the values given for the enthalpies in the present paper and those available for the Gibbs free energies.  相似文献
