Considering the Boltzmann response of the ions and electrons in plasma dynamics and inertial dynamics of the dust charged grains in a highly collisional dusty plasma, the nature of the electrostatic potential near a boundary is investigated. Based on the fluid approximation, the formation as well as the characteristic behaviours of the sheath is studied. It is expected that the presence of dust charged grains will lead to a very different behaviour of the sheath as compared to that of electron-ion plasma. Moreover, the collisions of the dust charged grains with the neutrals are expected to exhibit novel features.  相似文献

For two-dimensional unmagnetized dusty plasmas with many different dust grain species, a Kadomtsev--Petviashvili (KP) equation, a modified KP (mKP) equation and a coupled KP(cKP) equation for small, but finite amplitude dust-acoustic solitary waves are obtained for different physical conditions respectively. The influence of an arbitrary dust size distribution described by a polynomial expressed function on the properties of dust-acoustic solitary waves is investigated numerically. How dust size distribution affects the sign and the magnitude of nonlinear coefficient A(D) of KP (mKP) equation is also discussed in detail. It is noted that whether a compressive or a rarefactive solitary wave exists depends on the dust size distribution in some dusty plasmas.  相似文献

In consideration of adiabatic dust charge variation, the combined effect of the external magnetized field and the dust temperature on head-on collision of the three-dimensional dust acoustic solitary waves is investigated. By using the extended Poincar\'e--Lighthill--Kuo method, the phase shifts and the trajectories of two solitons after the collision are obtained. The effects of the magnitude and the obliqueness of the external magnetic field and the dust temperature on the solitary wave collisions are discussed in detail.  相似文献

The effect of negative ions on the modulational instability properties of nonlinear dust acoustic (DA) waves in the electronegative dusty plasmas was investigated by considering Boltzmann-distributed electrons, negative ions, positive ions as well as positively charged dust grain under the ultraviolet irradiation. It is shown that the modulational instability properties of the DA waves were strongly affected by the temperature and proportion of negative ions. The modulational instability can occur only if the proportion of negative ions was smaller than critical value. The instability growth rate has a maximum value when the proportion of negative ions was a critical one in the unstable region. The effect of photoelectron generated by ultraviolet irradiation on the modulational instability of dust acoustic waves was also discussed by numerical method.  相似文献

The effect of dust charge variation on the dust-acoustic solitary structures is investigated in a warm magnetized two-ion-temperature dusty plasma consisting of a negatively and variably charged extremely massive dust fluid and ions of two different temperatures. It is shown that the dust charge variation as well as the presence of a second component of ions would modify the properties of the dust-acoustic solitary structures and may exite both dust-acoustic solitary holes (soliton waves with a density dip) and positive solitons (soliton waves with a density hump).  相似文献

The effects of head-on collision on dust acoustic (DA) solitary and shock waves in dusty plasma are investigated considering positively charged inertial dust, Boltzmann distributed negatively charged heavy ions, positively charged light ions, and superthermal electrons in the plasma system. The nonlinear Korteweg-de-Vries (KdV) Burger equations are derived taking the extended Poincaré-Lighthill-Kuo method into account to study the characteristic properties of nonlinearity and production of solitary shock due to collisions. The study reveals that the amplitudes and widths of the DA shock waves are decreasing with increasing viscosity, electron to dust density ratio, and dust to ion temperature ratio, while they are increasing due to the presence of superthermal electrons. The nonlinearity of DA waves are enhanced with increasing density ratio of electron to dust and temperature ratio of dust to ion and electron, respectively, but it is reducing with superthermal electrons. The phase shifts of DA solitary waves are found to decrease with rising superthermality of electrons and increase with the density ratio of electron to dust.  相似文献

The electron-ion-positively charged dust plasma system containing Boltzmann distributed electron species, cold inertial ion species, and stationary positively charged dust (pcd) species are considered. The roles of pcd species in the formation of ion-acoustic (IA) subsonic solitary waves (SWs) are investigated by the pseudo-potential approach, which is valid for arbitrary amplitude time-independent subsonic SWs, as well as by the reductive perturbation method, which is valid for the time-dependent small amplitude subsonic SWs. It is observed that the presence of the pcd species reduces the phase speed of the IA waves, and consequently supports the IA subsonic SWs with the positive wave potential in such electron-ion-pcd plasmas. This is due to the reduction of the space charge electric field by the presence of the pcd species. The applications of the work in space environments (viz. Earth's mesosphere, cometary tails, Jupiter's magnetosphere, etc.), where pcd species have been detected, are briefly discussed.  相似文献

We present investigations of the combined effects of Debye–Hückel repulsive and overlapping Debye spheres attractive interaction potentials around charged dust particles on collective modes, phase separation and ordered structures in a strongly coupled dusty plasma. We obtain static and dynamical information via Molecular Dynamics simulations in the liquid and crystallized phases and identify the onset of an instability in the transverse mode, by using lattice summation method. The results are useful for understanding the origin of coagulation/agglomeration of charged dust particles and the formation of ordered dust structures in low-temperature laboratory and space plasmas.  相似文献

研究了小的有限振幅的无磁场尘埃等离子体中的非线性波.在一维情况下由Kortewegde Veries(KdV)方程来描述,考虑了二维情况下尘埃等离子体中尘埃颗粒上电荷的变化效应以及双温度离子效应后,尘埃等离子体受到横向高阶扰动后动力学方程由Kadomtsev-Petviashvili(KP)方程来描述.在此基础上,研究了以任意夹角传播的两个及三个孤立子的相互作用问题,考虑非线性效应后振幅相等的双孤立子在相互作用区域内振幅最大值是单个孤立子振幅的4倍,振幅相等的三孤立子在相互作用区域内振幅最大值是单个孤立子振幅的9倍.研究还表明波的传播方向受到横向高阶扰动后是稳定的.  相似文献

By considering both the dust temperature and the dust charge variation in dusty plasma with vortex-like ion distribution, we obtained a modified Korteweg-de Vries equation. It indicates that the effect of dust charge variation can cause the one-dimensional soliton amplitude to become larger, and the dust temperature can cause the soliton amplitude to become larger as well. Moreover, as the dust temperature increases, the soliton amplitude will increase.  相似文献

The resonant parametric decay of a Langmuir wave into a backward propagating Langmuir wave and an ion acoustic (IA) wave is studied in a cylindrical dusty plasma. The analysis shows that the frequency of the IA mode decreases with the parameter δc (where δc is the ratio of the ion density to the electron density) for negatively charged dust grains. The growth rate of the resonance decay instability (RDI) and the threshold required for its onset also decrease with δc and are strongly dependent on the electron to ion temperature ratio for both positively and negatively charged dust grains. The results obtained also illustrate the dependence of the threshold of the resonance decay instability (μth) on the plasma cylinder radius.  相似文献

The nonlinear dust‐ion‐acoustic (DIA) solitary structures have been studied in a dusty plasma, including the Cairns‐Gurevich distribution for electrons, both negative and positive ions, and immobile opposite polarity dust grains. The external magnetic field directed along the z‐axis is considered. By using the standard reductive perturbation technique and the hydrodynamics model for the ion fluid, the modified Zakharov–Kuznetsov equation was derived for small but finite amplitude waves and was provided the solitary wave solution for the parameters relevant. Using the appropriate independent variable, we could find the modified Korteweg–de Vries equation. By plotting some figures, we have discussed and emphasized how the different plasma values, such as the trapping parameter, the positive (or negative) dust number density, the non‐thermal electron parameter, and the ion cyclotron frequency, can influence the solitary wave structures. In addition, using the bifurcation theory of planar dynamical systems, we have extracted the centre and saddle points and illustrated the phase portrait of such a system for some particular plasma parameters. Finally, we have graphically investigated the behaviour of the solitary energy wave by changing the plasma values as well as by calculating the instability criterion; we have also discussed the growth rate of the solitary waves. The results could be useful for studying the physical mechanism of nonlinear propagation of DIA solitary waves in laboratory and space plasmas where non‐thermal electrons, pair‐ions, and dust particles can exist.  相似文献
