In nonmagnetic metals the spin-spin interaction of the electrons and nuclei makes a strongly magnetic field and temperature T dependent contribution to the residual resistivity. The nuclei act as magnetic impurities. For magnetic metals (Tb, Ho, Dy) with a high internal magnetic field, the nuclear contribution to the resistivity vanishes at low temperatures T, where the nuclear spins are ordered, and saturates at high temperatures T, where the nuclear spins are disordered—the analog of the Schottky effect for the nuclear specific heat. The electron-nuclear interaction can destroy superconductivity in metals with low critical magnetic fields under conditions of ferromagnetic ordering of the nuclear spins. Pis’ma Zh. éksp. Teor. Abstract

Recently a progress in the theory and experiment of the stationary NMR radiative detection (NMR-RD) has been observed [I,2]. This stimulated us to consider the possibility of de - tection of the nonstationary NMR effects, such as induction and nuclear spin-echo (NSE), by means of registration of δ -quanta's angular distribution (NSE-RD). Realization of such an experiment would give a possibility to measure the nuclear relaxation times by utilization of a relatively small number of nuclei (108?1010:1) for instance in substances of a small volume, since the discussed method is the microscopic one in contrast to the ordinary methods of the spin-echo and induction detection.  相似文献

We analyze theoretically the formation of NMR pulse responses from a quadrupole spin system in which the inhomogeneous broadening of a spectral line is due to both magnetic and electric quadrupole interactions. We derive formulas for the moments of formation of multiquantum echo signals in the case of three exciting pulses. For the first time we detected in experiments multiquantum spin-echo signals from copper nuclei in ferromagnetic copper sulfochromite in the cases of double-pulse and triple-pulse excitations. We find that there is good agreement between the calculated and experimentally observed moments of echo signal formation. Zh. éksp. Teor. Fiz. 115, 2106–2112 (June 1999)  相似文献

The conditions for the formation of two-pulse echo signals from 59Co nuclei in thin magnetic films at T=4.2 K are investigated. In the framework of the existing mechanisms, numerical simulation of the conditions for the formation of extra 3τ and 4τ echo signals (τ is the time delay between pulses) is carried out. It is shown that the multiple structure of the echo from 59Co nuclei at T=4.2 K is due to a mechanism in which an additional hyperfine magnetic field proportional to nuclear magnetization is acting on the nuclear spin system.  相似文献

Magnetic resonance in pure single-crystal CuGeO3 at frequencies 9–75 GHz in the temperature range 1.2–25 K is investigated. Splitting of the magnetic-resonance line into several spectral components is observed at temperatures below 5 K, where spin-Peierls dimerization suppresses the magnetic susceptibility and the ESR signal intensity. Analysis of the magnetic resonance spectra over a wide frequency range with different directions of the magnetic field at different temperatures makes it possible to identify among these components the ESR signals due to defects, having effective spin S=1/2 and spin S=1, in the spin-Peierls phase. The g factor corresponding to these ESR signals is the same and close to the value characteristic for the ion Cu2+. Another magnetic-resonance line is characterized by a strongly anisotropic g factor and an increase (at a threshold in the excitation power) in the susceptibility both at resonance and in the line wings. These signals are tentatively attributed to two possible types of planar defects arising on the walls of domains of the spin-Peierls state with different values of the dimerization phase. Zh. éksp. We considered the kaon absorption from atomic states into the nucleus. We found that the nuclear density probed by the atomic kaon significantly depends on the kaon orbit. Then, we re-examined the meanings of the observed strengths of one-body and two-body kaon absorption, and investigated the effects to the formation spectra of kaon bound states by in-flight (K -, p) reactions. As a natural consequence, if the atomic kaon probes a smaller nuclear density, the ratio of the two-body absorption at nuclear center is larger than the observed value in kaonic atoms, and the depth of the imaginary potential is deeper even at smaller kaon energies as in kaonic nuclear states because of the large phase space for the two-body processes. This deeper imaginary potential makes the signals of kaonic nucleus formation more unclear in the (K -, p) spectra.  相似文献

Mechanically detected magnetic resonance (MMR) is a new technique for detecting electron or nuclear spin signals. All preceding experiments have been carried out in a <10−3Torr vacuum at room temperature or at low temperatures down to 6 K. In this article the first MMR experiments at normal pressure and room temperature are presented. The mechanically detected NMR signals resulted from ammonium nitrate and ammonium sulfate. In addition, techniques for determiningT1andTwith mechanical experiments were developed. IfTis not more than two or three times smaller thanT1, an inversion-recovery technique, first used for the detection of19F spins at low temperatures, can be used. It could be shown that this technique also works in principle at room temperature.  相似文献

A general theory, based on density matrix calculations, has been developed for the special case of a two-pulse sequence applied to spin 1 (14N) nuclear quadrupole resonance (NQR) of a powder sample. It is shown that the homolog of the NMR inversion-recovery experiment leads easily to the spin-lattice relaxation time T 1 (associated with the diagonal elements of the density matrix) provided that an appropriate phase cycling is used. Conversely, in spite of two-step phase cycling schemes adapted to spin-spin relaxation measurements, the homolog of the NMR Hahn spin-echo sequence may pose some problems if the results are displayed in the magnitude mode. First, at short decay times, the echo may be corrupted by unwanted signals. Secondly, in that case, the amplitude of the resulting signal can evolve unexpectedly and differently as a function of the phase of the second pulse. Thirdly, at long decay times, the echo maximum occurs earlier than expected. All these problems in principle disappear with a complete four-step phase cycling scheme and the echo decay curve yields reliably the spin-spin relaxation time T 2 (associated with off-diagonal elements). This theory allowed the exploitation of many test experiments performed at different frequencies on hexamethylenetetramine (HMT) and sodium nitrite.  相似文献

Ultrasound damping at T=4.2 K in single crystal easy-plane antiferromagnetic KMnF3 is studied experimentally as a function of the magnitude and direction of a constant magnetic field H at frequencies of 640–670 MHz, corresponding to the frequencies of nuclear spin waves. Two experimental situations are examined: in the first, the vector H lies in the easy magnetization plane (001), and in the second, H forms an angle with (001). For longitudinal ultrasound waves propagating along the hard magnetization axis [001], it is found that the damping depends resonantly on the magnitude of the field H. In the first case a single damping maximum is observed, and in the second, two damping peaks that are well resolved with respect to the field. The angular dependence of the resonance damping signals on the direction of the constant magnetic field is found to have a 90° periodicity in all cases. The observed effects are explained by resonant ultrasonic excitation of nuclear spin waves. On the basis of an analysis of the magnetoacoustic interaction energy, it is shown that in the first case, nonzero oscillations of the antiferromagnetism vector L occur only in the basal plane, while in the second, oscillations of L occur both in the basal and a vertical plane, which are associated, respectively, with two branches of the nuclear spin waves. It is also shown that the 90° periodicity in the angular dependence of the damping signals is associated with a fourth order [001] axis. Zh. éksp. Teor. Fiz. 112, 1830–1840 (November 1997)  相似文献

Abstract

Recent investigations of helium-implanted and proton irradiated metals at medium temperatures (T≤100°C) have demonstrated the importance of high energy cascade effects for the microstructural evolution. They can effect the formation and the evolution of He densities in small bubbles formed by He implantation and are important also for the formation of periodic walls of defect clusters, a phenomenon observed under proton irradiations. Experimental results obtained by transmission electron microscopy and differential dilatometry for MeV irradiations of Cu and Ni are summarized and compared with observations after heavy-ion and neutron irradiations.  相似文献

Abstract

Phencyclone, 1, reacted with N‐(2,6‐dimethylphenyl)maleimide, 2a; with N‐(2,6‐diethylphenyl)maleimide, 2b; and with N‐(2,6‐diisopropylphenyl)maleimide, 2c, respectively, to yield the corresponding Diels–Alder adducts, 3a–c. The adducts were extensively characterized by NMR (7 T) at ambient temperatures using one‐ and two‐dimensional (1D and 2D) proton and carbon‐13 techniques for assignments. Slow exchange limit (SEL) spectra were observed, demonstrating slow rotations on the NMR timescales, for the unsubstituted bridgehead phenyl groups [C(sp3)–C(aryl sp2) bond rotations] and for the 2,6‐dialkylphenyl groups [N(sp2)–C(aryl sp2) bond rotations]. Substantial magnetic anisotropic shifts were seen in the adducts. For example, in the N‐(2,6‐dialkylphenyl) moieties of the adducts, one of the alkyl groups is directed “into” the adduct cavity, toward the phenanthrenoid portion, and these “inner” alkyl proton NMR signals were shifted upfield. Thus, in CDCl3, the “inner” methyl of adduct 3a exhibits a proton resonance at ?0.13 ppm, upfield of tetramethylsilane (TMS); the “inner” ethyl group signals from 3b appear at 0.026 ppm (CH2, quartet), and ?0.21 ppm (CH3, triplet); and the “inner” isopropyl group from 3c is seen at ?0.06 ppm (methine, approx. septet) and ?0.39 ppm (CH3, doublet). Proton NMR of the crude N‐(2,6‐dialkylphenyl)maleamic acids (used as precursors of the maleimides, 2a–c) exhibited two sets of AB quartet signals, suggesting possible conformers from hindered rotation in the amide groups about the HN–C?O bonds.  相似文献

The evolution of the longitudinal magnetization of nuclear spins in a cw high-frequency magnetic field has been measured using a SQUID magnetometer at liquid-helium temperatures in magnetic fields H 0 of up to 57 Oe. The time T m for thermal mixing of the Zeeman and dipolar systems has been found to range between 0.05 and 4×102 s. For T m>1 s the function T m(H 0) is exponential. The proton NMR spectra near the fundamental and twice the Larmor frequency have been obtained. The shift in the resonance with respect to the Larmor frequency is close to the theoretical prediction. Quantification of citrate by localized 1H spectroscopy is usually performed using the water signal as reference, but the signal behavior of the J-coupled AB spin system of citrate after multipulse excitation is not as trivial as for uncoupled substances. The influence of the timing scheme of double spin-echo sequences and of the spatial flip angle distribution of (nonideal) refocusing pulses was analyzed systematically for the citrate resonances. Both single echo times of the double spin-echo sequence were varied between 20 ms and 250 ms in theoretical and experimental approaches. Relatively long total echo times (TE > 120 ms) provide high selectivity to citrate signals, since signals from triglycerides at 2.6 ppm are markedly reduced. Asymmetrical timing schemes of the double spin-echo sequence with one short single echo time of 20 ms and one longer single echo time of about 120 ms result in high integral signal from the central lines of citrate, whereas symmetrical timing leads to high sensitivity for total echo times TE near 100 ms. The integral citrate signals in spectra with relatively long echo times (TE > 120 ms) were found to depend markedly on the type of the refocusing pulses, affecting quantitative citrate measurements in vitro and in vivo.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

The dependence of the interactions of intermediate-size ½<111> self-interstitial atom (SIA) loops with an edge dislocation on strain rate and temperature was investigated by molecular dynamics (MD) simulations for the interatomic potential derived by Ackland et al. (A97). For low temperatures (T?=?1?K), the mechanisms of the interactions were in agreement with recent literature. It was shown that a second passing of the dislocation through the loop led to a different mechanism than the one that occurred upon first passing. Since these mechanisms are associated with different SIA loop sizes, and since the loop lost a number of SIAs upon first interaction, it was deduced that the dividing threshold between large and small loops (rendering them strong or weak obstacles, respectively) is at the vicinity of the loop size studied (169 SIAs). For higher temperatures (T?=?300?K), the strain rate dependence proved strong: for low strain rates, the dislocation absorbed the loop as a double super-jog almost immediately and continued its glide unimpeded. For a high strain rate, the dislocation was initially pinned due to the formation of an almost sessile segment leading to high critical stress.  相似文献

A phenomenological model has been proposed for bulk self-diffusion and diffusion of interstitial atoms in the ranges of high (T > T D) and low (T < T D) temperatures (where T D is Debye temperature). It has been shown that the mechanisms of diffusion at high and low temperatures differ significantly. In the high-temperature range, the diffusion is provided by fluctuations, which can be described in terms of local melting, i.e., the formation of a “liquid diffusion channel.” In the low-temperature range, when melting for some reasons is hindered, the diffusion is due to the fluctuation formation of a “hollow diffusion channel.” The calculation of the activation energies of these processes in the case of self-diffusion agrees well with the experiment in the temperature range T > T D and has demonstrated that the activation energy increases significantly at T < T D. The calculation of the activation energy for diffusion of interstitial atoms in bcc metals agrees well with the experiment in the entire temperature range and provides an explanation of the decrease in the activation energy of diffusion at low temperatures.  相似文献

Resonant absorption of microwaves in CuGeO3 single crystals in a frequency band of 40 to 120 GHz, in magnetic field B⩽15 T, at temperatures ranging between 0.5 and 300 K, and in the configuration Ba has been investigated. Several absorption lines (S 0, S a, and S b) whose parameters strongly depend on temperature have been detected close to ESR. The temperature dependence of the total absorption in the main line S 0 with the Landé g-factor g 0=2.154 at temperatures above the spin-Peierls transition temperature is in good agreement with Bonner and Fisher’s theoretical prediction for a one-dimensional Heisenberg spin chain. In addition to the main resonance, a resonance of smaller amplitude, S a, with the g-factor g a=2.72 has been detected at temperatures ranging down to a characteristic temperature T≃1 K, below which the amplitude of this feature drops to zero. A radical restructuring of the magnetoabsorption spectrum occurs at the temperature of the spin-Peierls transition T SP≈14 K. At T<12 K new features emerge in the spectrum, namely, a broad absorption line overlapping with the narrow lines S 0 and S a, and a line S b with g b=1.83, which is not detected at temperatures above T SP. An analysis of amplitudes and total absorption of ESR lines as functions of temperature has shown that the temperature range below 1 K is anomalous, which may be caused by an additional ordering in the CuGeO3 magnetic subsystem at low temperatures.
