The dependence of the cross section of electron loss on the nuclear charge Z of a bombarding ion and on the nuclear charge Z t of a target atom for fast collisions is studied theoretically using the plane-wave Born approximation and the sum rule. The results of calculations show that the cross section of electron loss for fast collisions increases monotonically as Z and Z t increase, which can be used to interpolate cross sections for the processes for which there are no experimental data. 相似文献

Based on the available experimental data and the results of calculations carried out in this paper, cross sections are estimated
for single-electron stripping of O
Z+ (Z=1–7) ions with energies in the range E=0.5–200 MeV/u due to collisions with H, He, N, O, or Ar atoms. Analytical approximations of the cross sections are presented. 相似文献

The dependence of the single electron loss cross section on the nuclear charge Z of a projectile and on the nuclear charge Zt of a target atom for fast collisions is studied theoretically using the plane-wave Born approximation and the sum rule. The results of calculations for fast singly and triply charged ions show that the single electron loss cross section increases monotonically as Z and Zt increase. This can be used to interpolate cross sections of processes if there are no experimental data. The results of calculations compare with the experimental and theoretical data of other authors. 相似文献

The relativistic distorted-wave program of the flexible atomic code for calculating the cross sections for electron-impact excitation of ions between fine-structure levels is extended to get the multipole components of cross sections in the case of excitation by isotropic electrons. These components may be needed for interpreting the intensity and polarization of line emissions from thermal plasmas exposed to anisotropic radiations, such as the solar corona under photosphere irradiation. Illustrative numerical results are given for excitation of Si-like Fe12+ between the , and levels. These results can be useful in the analysis of infrared forbidden lines emitted from the solar corona. A comparison is made with the only published work based on the semi-relativistic distorted-wave approximation, showing some agreement for the excitation and discrepancies for the weak transition . 相似文献

A simple analytical formula for the total integrated cross section of fast electron scattering by atoms is obtained. This formula, being logarithmically accurate, is derived from the approximate rule of sum that does not take into account exchange effects in the atomic wave function (Hartree approximation). It is shown that exchange effects can be neglected in that scattered electron energy range where the first Born approximation is valid. The results of calculation for He, Ne, and Ar atoms agree well with experimental data. 相似文献

We report on experimental electronic stopping cross sections of elements and compounds for Li ions. They are measured with the Inverted Doppler Shift Attenuation (IDSA) method with an accuracy of the order of 1%. In cases where comparable data from other authors exist, agreement within the limits of error is obtained. Systematic and pronounced deviations up to about 30% from Lindhard's theory are found. It turns out that Bragg's rule is generally not valid for stopping cross sections in the velocity range 1.5 · 108 cm/sec to 4.8 · 108 cm/sec. 相似文献

The applicability of the geometrical model (GM) proposed in [14, 15] to calculate the ionization probability and cross section of atoms and ions during collisions with ions, including structural ions, was studied at high velocities of partners. The GM represents a version of the classical impulse approximation. It was shown that the GM in all cases under consideration allows estimation of the ionization probability and total corss section of an atom or an ion during collisions with ions with deviations of no more than 50% from the results of the classical Monte Carlo method. GM calculations are rather simple in computation respect and limit the ionization probability by unity at arbitrary impact parameters. 相似文献

Alignment destroying collision cross sections of the Ne levels 2p 4 and 2s 2 were measured by investigation of the zero-field mode crossing resonances of a multimode He/Ne-laser operating on the 3s 2→2p 4 (λ=633nm) and 2s 2→2p 1 (λ=1.52μm) Ne transitions respectively. The measurements were carried out with the aid of a small sample cell which was placed inside the laser cavity and filled with pure Neon or a mixture of the He and Ne. Comparison of the measured cross sections concerning the 2p 4 level with corresponding Hanle effect measurements shows that in multimode operation velocity changing collisions do not produce an additional broadening of the mode crossing resonances. The alignment destroying cross section is almost temperature independent in the case of He collisions; it decreases, however, with increasing temperature in the case of Ne. Due to the allowed dipol transition between the 2s 2 and the ground state of Ne, radiation trapping and resonance interaction takes place if the gas filling contains Ne. The effect on the mode crossing resonance width is investigated. 相似文献

Excitation of the europium atom by slow electrons was studied using the method of extended crossing beams. The measured absolute values of cross sections agree well with the theoretical data and exceed the previous experimental results by a factor of 22–285. The behavior of the optical excitation functions is approximately the same as in the previous experiments and differs from the theoretical predictions by a slower decrease in cross sections in the region of high electron energies. 相似文献

The first experimental data are given for (e,2e) ionization from laser-aligned atoms. A linearly polarized laser excited Mg atoms to the 31P? state prior to ionization by low energy electrons. The scattered and ejected electrons were detected in coincidence and the differential cross section determined for a range of alignment angles. An asymmetric coplanar geometry was used, with one electron fixed and the other detected at different angles. The data are compared to that from the spherically symmetric 31S? state. Significant differences are found, in both magnitude and angular distribution. 相似文献

The relativistic eikonal approximation and a matching procedure are used to describe excitation and ionization of hydrogen-like atoms from an arbitrary discrete energy state by the impact of a highly charged relativistic bare ion. Bethe-type formulas are derived that are asymptotically valid in the limits of v → c and Z ? 1, where v is the relative collision velocity, c is the speed of light, and Z is the ion charge. 相似文献

The scaling properties of one-electron target excitation cross sections in collisions between atoms and multiply charged ions are investigated. For the example of bare-ion (Z)-hydrogen collisions with various charge numbers Z it is shown that, in many-state calculations for Z ≥ 2 and energies E/Z ≈ 15–100 keV/amu, calculated 2p excitation cross sections lie approximately on a universal curve. This curve deviates from the one which has been derived earlier by Janev and Presnyakov for all Z on the basis of a simplified three-state model, and in fact results from a consistent three-state treatment show no scaling. The scaling properties of the excitation cross sections are easily understood in a purely classical model of distant collisions. 相似文献

The ionization of hydrogen atoms with the emission of slow electrons in collisions with fast highly charged ions is considered.
Analytical expressions are obtained for the singly and doubly differential ionization cross sections and for a quantity which
characterizes the angular asymmetry in the escape of slow electrons. A unique feature of the momentum balance for collisions
that lead to the emission of slow electrons is discussed.
