Deposition of zinc(II) oxide (ZnO) nanoparticles on the surface of silk fabrics was prepared by sequential dipping steps in alternating bath of potassium hydroxide and zinc nitrate under ultrasound irradiation. This coating involves in situ generation and deposition of ZnO in a one step. The effects of ultrasound irradiation, concentration and sequential dipping steps on growth of the ZnO nanoparticles have been studied. Results show a decrease in the particles size as increasing power of ultrasound irradiation. Also, increasing of the concentration and sequential dipping steps increase particle size. The physicochemical properties of the nanoparticles were determined by powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and wavelength dispersive X-ray (WDX).  相似文献

The antimicrobial finishing is a must for production of medical textiles, aiming at reducing the bioburden in clinical wards and consequently decreasing the risk of hospital-acquired infections. This work reports for the first time on a simultaneous sonochemical/enzymatic process for durable antibacterial coating of cotton with zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs). The novel technology goes beyond the “stepwise” concept we proposed recently for enzymatic pre-activation of the fabrics and subsequent sonochemical nano-coating, and is designed to produce “ready-to-use” antibacterial medical textiles in a single step. A multilayer coating of uniformly dispersed NPs was obtained in the process. The enzymatic treatment provides better adhesion of the ZnO NPs and, as a consequence, enhanced coating stability during exploitation. The NPs-coated cotton fabrics inhibited the growth of the medically relevant Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli respectively by 67% and 100%. The antibacterial efficiency of these textile materials resisted the intensive laundry regimes used in hospitals, though only 33% of the initially deposited NPs remained firmly fixed onto the fabrics after multiple washings.  相似文献

Thermo-electrical characterizations of hybrid polymer composites, made of epoxy matrix filled with various zinc oxide (ZnO) concentrations (0, 4.9, 9.9, 14.9, and 19.9 wt%), and reinforced with conductive carbon black (CB) nanoparticles (0.1 wt%), have been investigated as a function of ZnO concentration and temperature. Both the measured DC-electrical and thermal conductivities showed ZnO concentration and temperature dependencies. Increasing the temperature and filler concentrations were reflected in a negative temperature coefficient of resistivity and enhancement of the electrical conductivity as well. The observed increase in the DC conductivity and decrease in the determined activation energy were explained based on the concept of existing paths and connections between the ZnO particles and the conductive CB nanoparticles. Alteration of ZnO concentration with a fixed content of CB nanoparticles and/or temperature was found to be crucial in the thermal conductivity behavior. The addition of CB nanoparticles to the epoxy/ZnO matrix was found to enhance the electrical conduction resulting from the electronic and impurity contributions. Also, the thermal conductivity enhancement was mostly attributed to the heat transferred by phonons and electrons hopping to higher energy levels throughout the thermal processes. Scanning electron microscopy and energy-dispersive spectroscopy were used to observe the morphology and elements’ distribution in the composites. The observed thermal conductivity behavior was found to correlate well with that of the DC-electrical conductivity as a function of the ZnO content. The overall enhancements in both the measured DC- and thermal conductivities of the prepared hybrid composites are mainly produced through mutual interactions between the filling conductive particles and also from electrons tunneling in the composite's bulk as well.  相似文献

Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) have been known to have powerful antibacterial activity. In this paper, in situ generation of AgNPs on the surface of dopamine modified cotton fabrics (dopa-cotton/AgNPs) in aqueous solution under room temperature is presented. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and field emission scanning electron microscope (FE-SEM) were used to analyze the surface chemical composition and the morphology of the modified cotton fabrics, respectively. The results indicated that the surface of cotton fabrics was successfully coated with polydopamine and AgNPs. The cotton fabrics with AgNPs showed durable antibacterial activity.  相似文献

ZnO nanoparticles were prepared by a simple chemical synthesis route. Subsequently, SiO2 layers were successfully coated onto the surface of ZnO nanoparticles to modify the photocatalytic activity in acidic or alkaline solutions. The obtained particles were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), energy dispersive spectrometry (EDS) and zeta potential. It was found that ultrafine core/shell structured ZnO/SiO2 nanoparticles were successfully obtained. The photocatalytic performance of ZnO/SiO2 core/shell structured nanoparticles in Rhodamine B aqueous solution at varied pH value were also investigated. Compared with uncoated ZnO nanoparticles, core/shell structured ZnO/SiO2 nanoparticles with thinner SiO2 shell possess improved stability and relatively better photocatalytic activity in acidic or alkaline solutions, which would broaden its potential application in pollutant treatment.  相似文献

In this investigation, ZnO nanoparticles were prepared by a simple and rapid method. This method is based on the short time solid state milling and calcinations of zinc acetate and citric acid powders. The samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, photoluminescence and UV-vis spectroscopy. It was shown that the calcination temperature significantly affected the particle size and optical properties of the synthesized ZnO nanoparticles. Calculation based on the XRD data shows that the average sizes of ZnO particles are in agreement with those from TEM images and the size of the particles increases on increasing the calcination temperature. Also the band gap of samples decreased from 3.29 to 3.23 eV on increasing the calcination temperature from 350 to 600 °C. Photoluminescence analyses show that many defects such as interstitial zinc, zinc vacancy and oxygen vacancy are responsible for the observed optical properties.  相似文献

The properties of TiO2/polyamide 6 (PA6) and ZnO/PA6 nanocomposite filament yarns produced on a pilot-plant melt spinning machine were compared. Concentrated masterbatches were prepared using a twin screw extruder. Then continuous multifilament yarns were produced by blending nylon 6 chips and various amounts of the prepared masterbatches. Melt spinning was carried out at the spinning temperature of 265°C and take-up speed of 4000 m/min. As-spun multifilament yarns were then drawn and textured. Morphological properties of the produced yarns were studied. Thermal behavior and physical properties, including shrinkage and tensile properties, were measured. Weft-knitted fabrics were evaluated for their ultraviolet protection properties. Although both kinds of the nanoparticles had a positive effect on the ultraviolet protection properties of their nanocomposite fabrics as compared to pure PA6 fabric, the efficiency of the TiO2 nanoparticles was more than that of the ZnO ones for the same concentrations. The differences between the different properties of the two kinds of nanocomposites are discussed based on their interaction with the polymeric matrix, specific surface area, steric hindrance effect, and band gap energies.  相似文献

ZnO nanoparticles doped with Cu were synthesized by solid state reaction using different precursor routes and varying growth environment. Average crystallite size varied from 40 to 100 nm depending upon synthesis temperature, lower temperature favouring smaller particle size. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) images showed that particles synthesized at 250 °C were in the shape of nanorods but those synthesized at 900 °C had spherical shape. Luminescence emission showed marked dependence on the growth conditions varying from ultraviolet (UV) emission to green emission. For making the luminescent nanoparticles bio-compatible, a bioinorganic interface on ZnO:Cu nanoparticles was created by coating them with inert silica. Surface modification of ZnO:Cu was also done with lipophilic polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA). ZnO:Cu nanoparticles showed hexagonal wurtzite structure and the coating of silica was confirmed with the presence of two extra peaks due to silica in the XRD spectra. Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and FTIR spectroscopy indicated that PMMA molecules were adsorbed on the surface of ZnO:Cu nanoparticles. SEM images revealed that PMMA adsorption improved the dispersibilty of ZnO:Cu nanoparticles.  相似文献

Here, titanium dioxide nanoparticles (NPs) were sonosynthesized and loaded simultaneously onto the cotton fabric. Titanium tetra isopropoxide (TTIP) was used as precursor and ultrasonic irradiation was utilized as a tool for synthesis of TiO2 in low temperature with anatase structure and loading nanoparticles onto the cotton fabric. TiO2 loaded cotton fabric was characterized by XRD, FE-SEM, EDS, and XRF. Moreover, several properties of the treated cotton fabrics such as self-cleaning, UV protection, washing durability, and tensile strength were studied. The effect of variables, including TTIP concentration and sonication time, was investigated based on central composite design (CCD) and response surface methodology (RSM). The results confirmed formation of anatase TiO2 nanoparticles with 3–6 nm crystalline size loaded onto the cotton fabric at low temperature (75 °C) that led to good self-cleaning and UV-protection properties. The excellent UV-protection rating of the treated fabric maintained even after 25 home launderings indicating an excellent washing durability. Interestingly, sonochemical method had no negative influence on the cotton fabric structure. The statistical analysis indicated significant effect of both TTIP concentration and sonication time on the content of the loaded TiO2 on the fiber and self-cleaning properties of the fabric.  相似文献

Nitrogen-doped ZnO nanocrystallites with primary diameter in the range of 30-50 nm were synthesized rapidly by self-assembly combustion technique using urea and citric acid as fuels, zinc nitrate as oxidant. The variation of adiabatic flame temperature with the various fuel compounds was calculated theoretically according to the thermodynamic concept. XRD, SEM and XPS were used to characterize the as-synthesized products. The anti-ultraviolet and anti-bacterium ability of the products were estimated by testing the UPF index and repressing-bacterium circle diameter of the cotton fabrics, which were treated using the as-synthesized products. The results show that a small quantity of citric acid has excellent coordinated action with urea and accelerates the nitrogen doping reaction course, obtaining perfect nitrogen-doped ZnO nanocrystallites with uniform color and particles size. The analysis of XPS spectrum shows that the nitrogen incorporation produces an N-O bonding region. The incorporation of nitrogen greatly improves the anti-ultraviolet and anti-bacterium properties of ZnO nanocrystallites, which can be attributed to the change of surface properties of nitrogen-doped ZnO, such as O vacancies and crystal deficiency.  相似文献

Wet textile washing processes were set up for wool and cotton fabrics to evaluate the potential of ultrasound transducers (US) in improving dirt removal. The samples were contaminated with an emulsion of carbon soot in vegetable oil and aged for three hours in fan oven. Before washing, the fabrics were soaked for 3 min in a standard detergent solution and subsequently washed in a water bath. The dirt removal was evaluated through colorimetric measurements. The total color differences ΔE of the samples were measured with respect to an uncontaminated fabric, before and after each washing cycle. The percentage of ΔE variation obtained was calculated and correlated to the dirt removal. The results showed that the US transducers enhanced the dirt removal and temperature was the parameter most influencing the US efficiency on the cleaning process. Better results were obtained at a lower process temperature.  相似文献

Superhydrophobic cotton fabrics were prepared by the incorporation of silica nanoparticles and subsequent hydrophobization with hexadecyltrimethoxysilane (HDTMS). The silica nanoparticles were synthesized via sol-gel reaction with methyl trimethoxy silane (MTMS) as the precursor in the presence of the base catalyst and surfactant in aqueous solution. As for the resulting products, characterization by particle size analyzer, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), scanning probe microscopy (SPM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA) were performed respectively. The size of SiO2 nanoparticles can be controlled by adjusting the catalyst and surfactant concentrations. The wettability of cotton textiles was evaluated by the water contact angle (WCA) and water shedding angle (WSA) measurements. The results showed that the treated cotton sample displayed remarkable water repellency with a WCA of 151.9° for a 5 μL water droplet and a WSA of 13° for a 15 μL water droplet.  相似文献

Un-doped Al (0-9 at.%) nanoparticles and doped ZnO powders were prepared by the sol-gel method. The nanoparticles were heated at 700-800 °C for 1 h in air and then analyzed by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Raman spectra and photoluminescence (PL). The results of un-doped (ZnO) and Al-doped ZnO (AZO) nanoparticles were also compared to investigate the structural characteristics and physical properties. XRD patterns of AZO powders were similar to those of ZnO powders, indicating that micro-Al ions were substituted for Zn atoms and there were no variations in the structure of the ZnO nanoparticles. From the XRD and SEM data, the grain size of the AZO nanoparticles increased from 34.41 to 40.14 nm when the annealing temperature was increased. The Raman intensity of the AZO nanoparticles (Al = 5 at.%) increased when the annealing temperature was increased. Increasing the degree of crystalline not only reduced the residual stress, but also improved the physical properties of the nanoparticles.  相似文献

A superhydrophobic ZnO nanorod array film on cotton substrate was fabricated via a wet chemical route and subsequent modification with a layer of n-dodecyltrimethoxysilane (DTMS). The as-obtained cotton sample was characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), scanning probe microscope (SPM) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), respectively. The wettability of the cotton fabric sample was also studied by contact angle measurements. The modified cotton fabrics exhibited superhydrophobicity with a contact angle of 161° for 8 μL water droplet and a roll-off angle of 9° for 40 μL water droplet. It was shown that the proper surface roughness and the lower surface energy both played important roles in creating the superhydrophobic surface, in which the Cassie state dominated.  相似文献

Well-dispersed undoped and Mg-doped ZnO nanoparticles with different doping concentrations at various annealing temperatures are synthesized using basic chemical solution method without any capping agent. To understand the effect of Mg doping and heat treatment on the structure and optical response of the prepared nanoparticles, the samples are characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD), energy-dispersive X-ray (EDX), UV–Vis optical absorption, photoluminescence (PL), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) measurements. The UV–Vis absorbance and PL emission show a blue shift with increasing Mg doping concentration with respect to bulk value. UV–Vis spectroscopy is also used to calculate the band-gap energy of nanoparticles. X-ray diffraction results clearly show that the Mg-doped nanoparticles have hexagonal phase similar to ZnO nanoparticles. TEM image as well as XRD study confirm the estimated average size of the samples to be between 6 and 12 nm. Furthermore, it is seen that there was an increase in the grain size of the particles when the annealing temperature is increased.  相似文献

ZnO nanoparticles (NPs) have been successfully synthesized by the simple solution method at low temperature. The effects of annealing temperature on the structure and optical properties of ZnO NPs were investigated in detail by X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), ultraviolet–visible (UV–vis) spectroscopy and photoluminescence (PL) measurements. As the annealing temperature was increased above 180 °C the particles morphology evolved from spherical to hexagonal shape, indicating that the average particle size increased from 11 nm to 87 nm. The UV-vis and PL spectra showed a red-shift from 3.62 to 3.33 eV when the annealing temperature was increased.  相似文献

Zinc oxide nanoparticles were synthesized using chemical method in alcohol base. During synthesis three capping agents, i.e. triethanolamine (TEA), oleic acid and thioglycerol, were used and the effect of concentrations was analyzed for their effectiveness in limiting the particle growth. Thermal stability of ZnO nanoparticles prepared using TEA, oleic acid and thioglycerol capping agents, was studied using thermogravimetric analyzer (TGA). ZnO nanoparticles capped with TEA showed maximum weight loss. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) were used for structural and morphological characterization of ZnO nanoparticles. Particle size was evaluated using effective mass approximation method from UV-vis spectroscopy and Scherrer's formula from XRD patterns. XRD analysis revealed single crystal ZnO nanoparticles of size 12-20 nm in case of TEA capping. TEA, oleic acid and thioglycerol capped synthesized ZnO nanoparticles were investigated at room temperature photoluminescence for three excitation wavelengths i.e. 304, 322 and 325 nm, showing strong peaks at about 471 nm when excited at 322 and 325 nm whereas strong peak was observed at 411 for 304 nm excitation.  相似文献

This work studied a bioremediation process of silver nanoparticles with the bacterium Chromobacterium violaceum. These nanoparticles were obtained from several washes of cotton fabrics impregnated with silver nanoparticles produced by the fungus Fusarium oxysporum. The optimized growth of C. violaceum for silver nanoparticles bioremediation was obtained. The effluents of wash process of the cotton fabric were efficiently treated with C. violaceum. This treatment was based on biosorption which was very efficient for the elimination of silver nanoparticles remaining in the wash water. The bacteria after biosorption were morphologically transformed, but the normal morphology after a new culture was completely restored. The process also allowed the recovery of silver material that was leached into the effluent for a reutilization avoiding any effect to the eco-environment.  相似文献

A superhydrophobic complex coating for cotton fabrics based on silica nanoparticles and perfluorooctylated quaternary ammonium silane coupling agent (PFSC) was reported in this article. The complex thin film was prepared through a sol-gel process using cotton fabrics as a substrate. Silica nanoparticles in the coating made the textile surface much rougher, and perfluorooctylated quaternary ammonium silane coupling agent on the top layer of the surface lowered the surface free energy. Textiles coated with this coating showed excellent water repellent property, and water contact angle (CA) increased from 133° on cotton fabrics treated with pure PFSC without silica sol pretreatment up to 145°. The oil repellency was also improved and the contact angle of CH2I2 droplet on the fabric surface reached to 131°. In contrast, the contact angle of CH2I2 on the fabric surface treated with pure PFSC was only 125°.  相似文献

Surface-functionalized zinc oxide (ZnO) nanoparticles were synthesized with ethylene diamine tetraacetic acid (EDTA) as a modification agent, which were used as adsorbents in the adsorption of Cu2+ at certain conditions. The transmission electron microscopy (TEM) results show that the average size of ZnO particles is about 45 nm, and it exhibits hexagonal wurtzite structure. Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectra reveal that the EDTA species are chemically bonded on the surface of ZnO. Compared with bare ZnO particles, the functionalized ZnO nanoparticles have a better activity in the Cu2+ adsorption. The maximum adsorption capacity of functionalized ZnO nanoparticles is 20.97 mg/g, while it is 17.93 mg/g for the bare ZnO. The adsorption isotherm of bare ZnO particles is in accordance with the Freundlich model, and the chemical adsorption is in a dominant position in the adsorption process of Cu2+ on functionalized ZnO particles.  相似文献
