Absolute electrofission cross sections for 238U and 232Th in the energy region E e =7 ?65 MeV and fission fragment angular distributions for E e =7–30 MeV have been measured. The angular distributions show strong anisotropies for low energies. The relative dipole and quadrupole contributions as a function of excitation energy are discussed in terms of the low lying fission transition states above the fission barriers. The cross sections show significant deviations from the results of some earlier measurements, in particular in the energy region above the giant dipole resonance. From the difficulties of absolute electrofission cross section measurements and the ambiguities in their interpretation it is concluded that by this time the quantitative analysis of electrofission cross sections with respect to the contributions of the giant quadrupole resonances to the fission decay channel should be regarded as rather tentative. 相似文献

The experimental results on delayed-neutron yields from thermal-neutron-induced fission of some actinides in the IBR-2 pulsed reactor are presented. A method of periodic irradiation without displacement of the sample was used. The measurements of delayed-neutron total yields in thermal-neutron-induced fission of 239Pu, 233U, and 237Np and in cold-neutron-induced fission of 235U, 233U, and 239Pu were carried out. All values were obtained with the use of the value of β 0 for ( n th+ 235U) as a reference. Precise measurements of decay curves in the time interval 5–350 ms for 235U and 239Pu were performed. 相似文献

of fission fragments were analyzed. On the basis of the model of multimode fission, symmetric and asymmetric channels are

Time-of-flight gating techniques have been used to study the decay γ-rays from states excited by inelastic scattering of neutrons from 232Th and 238U. Neutron energies up to 1900 MeV have been used. From accurate determinations of the γ-ray energies, intensities and thresholds, detailed level and decay schemes have been obtained for 232Th and 238U. New levels in both nuclei are observed at larger excitations than before and the present work is incompatible with some previously accepted spin and collective band assignments derived from Coulomb excitation studies. 相似文献

Fragment energy correlation measurements have been made for 238U, 232Th and 209Bi with bremsstrahlung of 600 MeV maximum energy. The study was performed with silicon surface barrier detectors. Distributions of kinetic energy as a function of fragment mass are presented. The results are compared with earlier photofission data and, in the case of bismuth, with calculations based on the liquid drop model. 相似文献

The cross sections for 209Bi, 232Th, 235U, 238U, and 237Np fission induced by protons of energy in the range 1.0–3.7 GeV and by deuterons of energy 1.0 GeV were measured. The probabilities for non-radiative (n.r.) excitations P n.r. in the muonic nuclides 208Pb, 232Th, and 238U have been determined from (μ ?,γγ)-measurements by comparing the intensities of muonic X-ray transitions in single and coincidence spectra. The value of P n.r. (3 p→1 s), measured for the first time, is about 90% for the actinides 232Th and 238U, but only about 8% for 208Pb. The value of P n.r. (3 d→1 s) is found to be 10 % for 233Th, 13% for 238U, and about 4% for 208Pb. For 208Pb a vanishing strength of the n.r. decay of the 2 p-level is found, while for 232Th and for 238U n.r. strengths of about 20% and 26%, respectively, are observed. By regarding two subcomplexes of the 2 p→1 s transitions leading to different mean excitation energies the n.r. transition probabilities were found to be different for 238U only, 21.6% and 31.1.%, respectively. 相似文献

Excitation functions and angular distributions have been measured for the fission of 232Th, 238U, 244Pu and 248Cm induced by 86Kr and 136Xe ions at energies in the vicinity of the Coulomb barrier. No large differences as a function of either target or projectile were found. These results suggest that the main process occuring is not Coulomb fission. 相似文献

The yields of the long-range α-particles (LRA) in the thermal neutron induced fission 0f 233U, 235U, and 239Pu have been determined relative to the corresponding binary fiassion yield. The measurements were performed with surface harrier detectors on a thermalized reactor beam. We obtained for 233U, 235U and 239Pu binary-to-LRA ratios the values 485±20 respectively 615±20, 475±20. Some of the discrepancies between the published data were explained and experimental indications for 235U( n, α)- and 239Pu( n, α)-reactions are present. Precise experimental information has been obtained on the distribution of orbital M1 strength using high resolution nuclear resonance fluorescence and inelastic electron scattering. We report on the first observation of those Jπ = 1 + states in actinide nuclei that are excited by the M1 scissors mode. The M1 strength induced through the convection current part of the M1 operator is closely centered around 2 MeV in both nuclei. The observed spreading of strength is again of the same magnitude that has been observed already in rare-earth nuclei. 相似文献

The mass distribution of the 238U photofission fragments formed under γ-quanta action is analyzed in the range of excitation energies of a fissile nucleus from 5 to 20 MeV. The influence on the ratio of asymmetric and symmetric photofission of the 238U structure and excitation energy of a fissile nucleus is discussed. A combined analysis and the comparison of the behavior of the asymmetric and symmetric modes of photofission were conducted for the first time. The results we obtained are compared with the prediction of the multimode model of the dependence of fission modes on the nuclear excitation energy. 相似文献

The time-of-flight technique was used to measure the mass and kinetic energy distribution of fragments from fission of 233U, 235U and 239Pu, induced by thermal neutrons at the Grenoble High Flux Reactor. The data array is presented as equal probability lines in the high kinetic energy regions. The fluctuations observed in those experimental lines are explained by a static scission configuration model, in which the most important influence comes from the Coulomb interaction energy between the two fragments. The highest values of total kinetic energy are obtained for fragmentations with heavy fragments Z=50–52, N=80–82 and light fragments Z=40–42, N=60–64. 相似文献

Masses, charges and kinetic energies of light fission fragments from the reactions 232U( n, f) and 239Pu( n, f) induced by thermal neutrons have been measured on the Cosi fan tutte spectrometer of the Institut Laue-Langevin in Grenoble. Both at very high and very low kinetic energies marked fine structures in the mass yields and odd-even staggerings in the charge yields are observed. In the framework of a scission point model the results are shown to point to compact and deformed scission configurations, respectively, where at scission the fragments carry no intrinsic excitation energy. The two limiting processes may, therefore, be called cold compact fission (usually known as cold fission) and cold deformed fission. The latter process as a general phenomenon of low energy fission has come into focus only recently. 相似文献

238U, 232Th and 40K concentrations in 72 soil samples from two major fault systems (North and East Anatolian Active Fault Sytems) in Turkey have been studied. However, terrestrial gamma radiation dose originated by natural radionuclides in soil was measured and compared with other measurements in literature for different countries. This extensive survey regarding U, Th and K radionuclide and terrestrial gamma dose measurement was carried out by means of NaI(TI) gamma spectroscopic system and a dose rate meter, respectively. The mean concentration of 238U, 232Th and 40K in soil samples in NAFS is higher than determined in EAFS. The measured and calculated mean gamma dose rates in two fault systems are found to be higher than 57 nGyh −1. 相似文献

Using the available experimental data, production cross sections of the most stable nuclei have been calculated for the proton-induced fission of 238U and 232Th at 12, 20, 35, 50, 96 MeV in case of 238U and at 8, 9.3, 12, 19.55, 32.2, 44.7, 53 MeV for 232Th. The analysis has been carried out for the fission fragment mass ranges corresponding to N/Z ratios in the ranges 1.33 ± 0.09 and 1.32 ± 0.08 for 238U and 232Th respectively. Results have been compared with the ones generated indirectly by employing GEF nuclear reaction code, version 2017/1.1. From the production cross sections point of view, for the same energy, 232Th is found to be a better target than 238U for producing nuclei A around the symmetric mass peak, while 238U comes out to be a better one than 232Th for producing the fission fragments around the asymmetric peaks of the mass distribution. 相似文献

The angular distributions of the elastic 4He-scattering on 208Pb and the elastic and inelastic 4He-scattering on 232Th and 234,236,238U at \(E_{4_{He} } = 50 MeV\) were measured between 20° and 60°. The 4He-particles were detected with a position sensitive detector in the focal plane of a split-pole spectrograph.
