Neutron transmission experiments and determinations of coherent scattering lengths were performed on natural chromium and enriched samples of50Cr,52Cr,53Cr and54Cr. By means of the Christiansen-filter-technique we obtained new values for the scattering lengths of the bound atoms:b(natCr)=3.635±0.007 fm,b(50Cr)=?4.50±0.05 fm,b(52Cr)=4.914±0.015 fm,b(53Cr)=?4.20±0.03 fm, andb(54Cr)=4.55±0.10 fm. The transmission experiments with neutrons of 510 ΜeV, 1.26 eV and 5.19 eV energy resulted in data for the absorption cross sectionσ a (natCr) =3.05±0.08 b and for the scattering cross section at “zero energy”:σ 0 (natCr)=3.381±0.010 b. Data for incoherent and spin-state scattering and for the potential-scattering radius of the nuclei could be deduced from these results.  相似文献

By means of the Cristiansen filter method we measured on filters containing powder, filings or wires of silver or powder of indium oxide the coherent scattering lengths for the bound atoms of the following isotopes:b(107Ag)=7.64±0.04 fm,b(109Ag)=4.19±0.03 fmb(nat.Ag)=5.97±0.01 fm,b(113In)=5.39±0.06 fmb(115In)=4.00±0.03 fm andb(nat.In)=4.065±0.020 fm. From these values and taking account of incoherent and resonance data we deduced values for the fundamental spin state scattering lengths and incoherent cross sections. These zero energy scattering parameters and the resonance parameters for silver are consistent if bound levels of108Ag and110Ag are assumed. No indications were found for bound levels of the In isotopes.  相似文献

Neutron scattering lengths and free scattering cross sections were measured for isolated isotopes and natural elements in the mass region fromA=12 toA=27. By means of the Christiansen filter technique values for the coherent scattering lengths were obtained for the bound atoms of12C,13C,14N,15N,16O,17O,18O, Mg and19F. Transmission experiments with neutrons of 0.51 meV, 1.26 eV and 5.19 eV yielded data for the free scattering cross sections of19F,23Na, Mg and19F. From all these results and with previous data the fundamental spin state scattering lengths for the concerned light nuclei have been deduced. The comparison of these values with resonance parameters has shown that the resonance data are complete. Therefore, values for the potential scattering radii could be obtained and discussed.  相似文献

Coherent neutron scattering lengths and total cross sections have been measured for elemental Zn,Zn-compounds and on isotopicly enriched samples for neutron energies from 0.5 meV up to 143 keV using different techniques. From the experimental data the following quantities were obtained:
  • the coherent scattering lengths (b in fm) of Zn (5.689±0.014);64Zn (5.23±0.04);66Zn (5.98±0.05);67Zn (7.58±0.08;b +=9.4±0.5/5.8±0.5;b ?=5.0±0.7/10.1±0.7);68Zn (6.04 ±0.03);
  • the potential scattering radii (R′ in fm) of Zn (6.2±0.2),64Zn (6.0±0.3) and66Zn (6.2 ±0.3);
  • the absorption cross sections (σ γ at 0.025 eV in barn) of Zn (1.11±0.02);64Zn (1.1 ±0.1) and66Zn (0.62±0.06).
  • Derived quantities are the “zero energy” scattering cross sections (σ 0 in barn) for Zn (4.128±0.010) and67Zn (7.8±0.3) and the incoherent bound cross sections of Zn (0.061 ±0.023) and67Zn (0.6±0.4). In the epithermal region the Zn-cross section can be described by introduction of two strong bound levels of67Zn+n for which estimated parameters are given.  相似文献

    Neutrons of energies within a 50 eV interval at 1970 eV have been selected from reactor neutrons by means of resonance scattering on a target of63Cu and subsequently by the 1970 eV resonance of a80Se target. Insertion of stationary filters and the technique of difference measurements with a resonance filter resulted in a high selectivity, which allowed the determination of cross sections for quasi-monoenergetic neutrons for the elements: H, C, O, F, Na, Mg, Al, Si, P, Cl, K, Ca, Sc, Ti, V, Mn, Co, Ni, Cu, Ga, Pb and Bi. The precision cross sections of Pb and H contribute to investigations of fundamental neutron interactions. The measured σ(Pb)=11.198±0.003 b was recently used to deriveα n=(0.8±1)10?3 fm3 for the electric polarizability of the neutron. The neutron-proton cross sectionσ(1 H)=20.13±0.03 b and data at 143 keV, 〈1.3〉 MeV, 〈2.1〉 MeV and from the literature provide a refined set of the scattering parameters for the shape-independent effective-range approximation of the neutron-proton interaction.  相似文献

    Coherent neutron scattering lengths and free cross sections were measured in order to determine the spin dependent scattering lengths of the isotopes of Li and B. The transmission measurements on Li at neutron energies of 0.51 meV, 1.26 eV and 5.19 eV delivered data for the6Li-abundances in the samples and for the free scattering cross section of7Li. By means of experiments on 15 different samples of lithium compounds we obtained the complex spin state scattering lengths for the bound atoms to be: (ie81-01) Measurements on 3 boron samples with different enrichments led to (ie81-02) A review on slow neutron scattering and resonance data shows an over all consistency of all values.  相似文献

    The absolute cross sectionσ of thed(7Li,p)8Li reaction near theE cm=0.61 MeV resonance has been measured using a7Li ion beam and a windowless gas target system filled with D2 gas. The proton yield of the reaction and theβ-delayedα-activity of the residual nuclides8Li were observed both concurrently with the elastic scattering yield, relatingσ to the Rutherford scattering cross sectionσ R. The resulting values,σ (fromp)=143.6±8.9 mb andσ (from8Li)=151±20 mb, lead to a weighted mean value ofσ=153±6 mb (x 2=2.26) including all available values andσ=146±5 mb (x 2=0.05) removing some values from the data set. The consequences for the expected flux of high-energy solar neutrinos are discussed.  相似文献

    Fission-track registration characteristics of Lexan solid state nuclear track detectors have been used to measure the fast neutron induced fission cross section of232Th. The fast neutrons (?14.2MeV) were produced with the help of an AN-400 model Van-de-Graaff accelerator at Banaras Hindu University laboratory using3H(2H,n)4He reaction and were used to irradiate the fissile target deposited on the plastic detector. The track densityT, registered on the plastic detector is related to the fission cross sectionσ f, through the relationT=knσ føt wheren is the number of fissile atoms per cm2 in the deposit, ø is the neutron flux,k is fission track registration efficiency andt is the time of irradiation. The fission cross sectionσ f of232Th, relative to the well measured fission cross section of238U, was found to be 0.36±0.04 barn.  相似文献

    The (n th,α) reaction spectroscopy was done on64, 65, 67zn and77Se at the 87 m curved thermal neutron guide of the Grenoble high flux reactor. In each of the64Zn(n, α)61 Ni and67 Ni(n, α) 64Ni reactions, one line showed up corresponding to anα-particle transition to the first excited state in61Ni and64Ni withσ α1=11±3 μb and 159±20 μb respectively. In the case of the radioactive65Zn(T 1/2=244d) nucleus, two lines showed up corresponding to the ground state and the first excited state transitions in62Ni with large values ofσ α0=1.0±0.1b andσ α1=1.0±0.1b. For the77Se(n, α)74Ge reaction, the ground state and first excited transitions were present withσ α0=940±20 μb andσ α1 = 30±5 μb respectively. The spin-parity (J π) of the neutron resonance contributing at thermal energy are discussed.  相似文献

    The absorption of stoppedπ ? in181Ta and209Bi has been investigated by studying prompt and delayedγ-ray spectra. Absolute cross-sections for the yield of isotopes per capturedπ ? in (π ?, xn) reactions, as well as the relative probability of populating nuclear states of different spins have been measured for the hafnium and lead isotopes, respectively. A spin as high as 20 has been observed in the production of204Pb. The ground-state rotational bands of the hafnium isotopes are excited to spin values up to 16. Neutron multiplicities as large as 15 have been observed for both targets. A neutron multiplicity of ?8 is most probable for both tantalum and bismuth targets. The strong interaction monopole energy shift? 0 and widthΓ 0 for the 4f level are found to beε 0(181Ta)=540±100eV; ?0(209Bi)=1790±150 eV;Γ 0(181Ta)=225±57 eV;Γ 0(209Bi) =1166±70 eV. The quadrupole moments, determined from the hyperfine splitting of the 4f pionic atom level, areQ=3.30±0.06b andQ=}-0.50±0.08b for181Ta and209Bi, respectively.  相似文献

    21Na (T 1/2=23 sec) and37K(T 1/2=1.25 sec) have been produced in gas targets by (d, n) reactions and polarized by means of optical pumping or spin exchange scattering with optically pumped87Rb. An asymmetry up to 3% in theΒ-decay of the polarized nuclei was found, which served to detect rf transitions between hfs levels of the atomic ground states of21Na and37K.δF=0 andδF=1 resonances have been recorded, yielding spin, hfs separation and magnetic moment, especiallyI(37K)=3/2,δW(37K)=240.266 (3) Mc/sec andΜ I(37K)=0.02033(6) nm (diamagnetically corrected). For21Na earlier rf-spectroscopic data have been confirmed.  相似文献

    The total cross sections for positron impact on hydrocarbons have been calculated using the additivity rule in which the total cross section for a molecule is the sum of the total cross section for the constituent atoms. The energy range considered is from a few eV to several thousand eV. The total cross sections for positron impact on an atom are calculated by employing a complex spherical potential which comprises of a static, polarization and an absorption potential. We have good agreement with the experimental results for hydrocarbons for positron energy ⩾100 eV. Our results also agree with the available calculations for CH4 and C2H2 which employed full molecular wavefunctions beyond 100 eV. Our absorption cross sections also agree with molecular wave-function calculations for C2H2 and CH4 beyond 100 eV. We have shown the Bethe plots fore +−C ande +−H scattering systems and Bethe parameters have been extracted. We have fitted the cross section for positron impact on hydrocarbons in the formσ t(C n H m )=naE b+mcE d in the energy range 300–5000 eV wherea=195.0543,b=0.7986,c=371.1757 andd=1.1379 withE in eV andσ t in 10−16 cm2.  相似文献

    Predictions for thes behavior at high energies are made for¯pp andpp: the differential elastic scattering cross section dσ/dt vs.t, the squared 4-momentum transfer; the total elastic cross sectionσ el; the nuclear slope parameterB; the curvature parameterC; ?, the ratio of the real to the imaginary portion of the forward scattering amplitude; and the total cross sectionσ tot. A hybrid approach is employed in order to gain reliable predictions. The energy dependence of? andσ tot is fixed by fittingpp and¯pp experimental data for? andσ tot from 15 GeV toS¯ppS energies, using analytic amplitudes. The other quantities are found using the Chou-Yang model, where the total, cross section is fixed from the fit.  相似文献

    Elastic electron scattering cross sections of14N and16O have been measured relative to the proton and of15N and18O relative to the lighter isotope (14N,16O resp.) using gas targets. The momentum transfer ranged from 0.22 to 0.48 fm?1. The data were analyzed by phase shift calculations assuming harmonic oscillator shell model charge distributions. The following rms charge radii have been deduced: Rm(14N)=2.540±0.020 fm Rm(15N)=2.580±0.026 fm Rm(16O)=2.718±0.021 fm Rm(18O)=2.789±0.027 fm. The errors include statistical and systematic uncertainties and an estimate of effects due to the choice of the model. The radius differences of the isotopes are smaller than the values predicted by anA 1/3 relation  相似文献

    The hyperfine structure of the resonance lines of108m Ag and110m Ag has been investigated by means of optical interference spectroscopy. The metastable isotopes were produced by neutron irradiation in a reactor. From the measureda- andb-values we derive the value for the nuclear magnetic dipole moment of108mAgμ I (108m)=3.577 (20)μ n and the values for the electric quadrupole momentsQ I (108m)=1.52(8) bQ I (110m)=1.65(10) b (without Sternheimer correction). The measured isotope shifts allow the determination of the changes in the mean square charge radii of the nuclei involved:δr 2〉(108m-107)=0.022(3)fm2 δr 2〉(110m-109)=0.029(2)fm2. The isotope positions show odd-even staggering comparable with those of neighbouring isotonic nuclides.  相似文献

    A systematic investigation was carried out on115In to determine the contribution of different reactions to the total non-elastic cross-section in the 13.43 and 14.84 MeV incident neutron energy range. All the major components ofσ NE were measured with exception of theσ g(n, n′) cross section. An analytical expression is recommended to estimate theσ NE data as a function of mass number at En=14.1 MeV. By the knowledge ofσ NE, the energy dependence ofσ g(n, n′) could be deduced. The isomeric cross section ratios both for (n, 2n) and (n, n′) processes were also determined in the given energy range. The present experiment proves the dependence ofσ m/(σ g+σ m) ratio on the spin value (I m) of the isomeric state in the (n, 2n) reaction. Excitation functions of the (n, 2n), (n, n′) (n, p) and (n∶ p, α) reactions calculated by STAPRE code show good agreement with the experimental results.  相似文献

    We measured the elastic scattering of αα ats = 126 GeV and of αp at s = 89 GeV. For αα, the differential cross section dσ/dt has a diffractive pattern minima at |t| = 0.10 and 0.38 GeV2. At small |t| = 0.05?0.07 GeV2, this cross section behaves like exp[(100 ± 10) t]. Extrapolating a fit to the data to the optical point, we obtained for the total cross section αtot(αα) = 250 ± 50 mb and an integrated elastic cross section σe1(αα) = 45 ± mb. Another method of estimating σtot(αα), based on measuring the interaction rate, yielded 295 ± 40 mb. For αp, dσ/dt has aminimum at |t| = 0.20 GeV2, and for 0.05 < |t| < 0.18 GeV2 behaves like exp[(41 ± 2) t]. Extrapolating this slope to |t| = 0, we found σtot(αp) = 130 ± 20 and σe1(αp) = 20 ± 4mb. Results on pp elastic scattering at s = 63 GeV agree with previous ISR experiments.  相似文献

    The reactionsΣ v p→π+ n,K + Λ,K + 0 andΣ v n→π+ n were studied at invariant hadronic masses around 2.2. GeV forQ 2=0.06, 0.28, 0.70, and 1.35 GeV2. The main results are: At small |t| the π+ production is dominated by longitudinally polarized photons and can be described by one pion exchange. At low |t| the transverse (π+ n) cross section drops steeply withQ 2, but remains roughly constant forQ 2≧0.5 GeV2. For |t?≧0.8 GeV2, (π+ n/dt) is almost independent ofQ 2. The integrated cross section (π+ n) shows a similarQ 2-dependence asσ tot (γ v p) forQ 2≧0.28 GeV2. The ratioσ- p)/σ+ n) atQ 2=0.70 and 1.35 GeV2 for |t|≧0.6 GeV2 is smaller than in photoproduction and close to 1/4. The ratioσ(K + 0 decreases steeply withQ 2 following roughly the predictions of the quark-parton model.  相似文献
