In this paper, we introduce a method to construct ‐designs, which are also known as partial geometric designs, by using subsets of certain finite groups. We introduce the concept of ‐difference sets and investigate the existence and nonexistence of these structures. We also provide some nonexistence results on ‐designs based on the fact that ‐designs yield directed strongly regular graphs.  相似文献

We introduce the non‐commutative f‐divergence functional for an operator convex function f, where and are continuous fields of Hilbert space operators and study its properties. We establish some relations between the perspective of an operator convex function f and the non‐commutative f‐divergence functional. In particular, an operator extension of Csiszár's result regarding f‐divergence functional is presented. As some applications, we establish a refinement of the Choi–Davis–Jensen operator inequality, obtain some unitarily invariant norm inequalities and give some results related to the Kullback–Leibler distance.  相似文献

We show that the existence of ‐matrices having largest possible determinant is equivalent to the existence of certain tournament matrices. In particular, we prove a recent conjecture of Armario. We also show that large submatrices of conference matrices are determined by their spectrum.  相似文献

The original static shakedown theorem of Melan [1], valid for geometrically linear theory, was extended for geometrically non‐linear theory e.g. by Polizzotto and Borino [2], who presented a proof for large rotations with small strains. However, a counterexample to this extended Melan's theorem has been found. The reason of the failure is investigated and is corrected by an additional condition in the theorem. An equivalent formulation of a recent result in [1] states that if the conditions of the Theorem of Newton‐Kantorovich are satisfied in a slightly modified (but equivalent) form in the maximum norm for a function g : G → ℝn, G ⊆ ℝn, guaranteeing the existence of a zero in D, then the conditions of Miranda's Theorem are automatically satisfied. We prove that this result holds for arbitrary norms if the conditions of the Theorem of Newton‐Kantorovich are suitable strengthened and Miranda's Theorem is suitably generalized.  相似文献

We study vertex‐colorings of plane graphs that do not contain a rainbow face, i.e., a face with vertices of mutually distinct colors. If G is a 3 ‐connected plane graph with n vertices, then the number of colors in such a coloring does not exceed . If G is 4 ‐connected, then the number of colors is at most , and for n≡3(mod8), it is at most . Finally, if G is 5 ‐connected, then the number of colors is at most . We examine the impact of small parity‐time () symmetric perturbations on nonlinear optical honeycomb lattices in the tight‐binding limit. We show for strained lattices that complex dispersion relationships do not form under perturbation, and we find a variety of nonlinear wave equations which describe the effective dynamics in this regime. The existence of semilocalized gap solitons in this case is also shown, though we numerically demonstrate these solitons are likely unstable. We show for unstrained lattices under the effect of a restricted class of perturbations, which prevent complex dispersion relationships from appearing, that nontrivial phase dynamics emerge as a result of the perturbation. This phase can be understood as momentum imparted to optical beams by the lattice, thus showing perturbations offer potentially novel means for the control of light in honeycomb lattices.  相似文献

In the present paper, we study the defocusing complex short pulse (CSP) equations both geometrically and algebraically. From the geometric point of view, we establish a link of the complex coupled dispersionless (CCD) system with the motion of space curves in Minkowski space , then with the defocusing CSP equation via a hodograph (reciprocal) transformation, the Lax pair is constructed naturally for the defocusing CSP equation. We also show that the CCD system of both the focusing and defocusing types can be derived from the fundamental forms of surfaces such that their curve flows are formulated. In the second part of the paper, we derive the defocusing CSP equation from the single‐component extended Kadomtsev‐Petviashvili (KP) hierarchy by the reduction method. As a by‐product, the N‐dark soliton solution for the defocusing CSP equation in the form of determinants for these equations is provided.  相似文献

In this paper linear elliptic boundary value problems of second order with non‐smooth data L‐coefficients, sets with Lipschitz boundary, regular sets, non‐homogeneous mixed boundary conditions) are considered. It will be shown that such boundary value problems generate isomorphisms between certain Sobolev‐Campanato spaces of functions and functionals, respectively.  相似文献

In this paper we show some non‐elementary speed‐ups in logic calculi: Both a predicative second‐order logic and a logic for fixed points of positive formulas are shown to have non‐elementary speed‐ups over first‐order logic. Also it is shown that eliminating second‐order cut formulas in second‐order logic has to increase sizes of proofs super‐exponentially, and the same in eliminating second‐order epsilon axioms. The paper proves, that the ambiguous behaviour of a textile probe in the drape experiment is connected with many possible equilibrium states. This experiment is usually used for the evaluation of the drapeability of textiles. We treat a textile surface in our mathematical model as a two‐dimensional Cosserat continuum, which equilibrium equations can be easily formulated. To solve the boundary value problem, which assures equilibrium, we use the finite element method in connection with the arc‐length method. This strategy allows us to trace the highly non‐linear behaviour of the system. This nonlinearity is responsible for the non‐unique behaviour of a textile probe in drape. In our investigation we calculate some of the possible final configurations of a round textile probe supported on the round table. Such configurations can be observed in the drape experiment.  相似文献

We study the impact of a kind of non‐archimedean stratifications (t‐stratifications) on tangent cones of definable sets in real closed fields. We prove that such stratifications induce stratifications of the same nature on the tangent cone of a definable set at a fixed point. As a consequence, the archimedean counterpart of a t‐stratification is shown to induce Whitney stratifications on the tangent cones of a semi‐algebraic set. Extensions of these results are proposed for real closed fields with further structure.  相似文献
