We study some topological properties of maximal ideal spaces of certain algebras of almost periodic functions. Our main result is that such spaces are contractible. We present several analytic corollaries of this result.  相似文献

Let be a Guelfand measure (cf. [A, B]) on a locally compact groupG DenoteL 1 (G)=*L 1(G)* the commutative Banach algebra associated to . We show thatL 1 (G) is semi-simple and give a characterization of the closed ideals ofL 1 (G). Using the -spherical Fourier transform, we characterize all linear bounded operators inL 1 (G) which are invariants by -translations (i.e. such that 1(( x f) )=( x ((f)) for eachxG andfL 1 (G); where x f(y)=f(xy); x,y G). WhenG is compact, we study the algebraL 1 (G) and obtain results analogous to ones obtained for the commutative case: we show thatL 1 (G) is regular, all closed sets of its Guelfand spectrum are sets of synthesis and establish theorems of harmonic synthesis for functions inL p (G) (p=1,2 or +).

We give a definition of -indefinite function of archimedean type, on an interval of an ordered group with an archimedean point. We say that has the indefinite extension property if every continuous -indefinite function of archimedean type, on an interval of , can be extended to a continuous -indefinite function on the whole group .We show that if a group is semi-archimedean and it has the indefinite extension property, then with the lexicographic order and the product topology has the indefinite extension property. As a corollary it is obtained that the groups and with the lexicographic order and the usual topologies, have the indefinite extension property.To Professor José R. We describe a general method to construct completely bounded idempotent mappings on operator spaces, starting from amenable semigroups of completely bounded mappings. We then explore several applications of that method to injective operator spaces, fixed points of completely contractive mappings, Toeplitz operators, dynamical systems and similarity orbits of group representations.  相似文献

For a Lau algebra A, we study the Banach space WAP(A) of all weakly almost periodic functionals on A to obtain some equivalent conditions for the existence of topological left invariant means on a topological left introverted subspace X of A contained in WAP(A). An abelian group A is called absolutely abelian, if in every central extension N ? G ? A the group G is also abelian. The abelian group A is absolutely abelian precisely when the Schur multiplicator H2A vanished. These groups, and more generally groups with HnA = 0 for some n, are characterized by elementary internal properties. (Here H1A denotes the integral homology of A.) The cases of even n and odd n behave strikingly different. There are 2?ο different isomorphism types of abelian groups A with reduced torsion subgroup satisfying H2nA = 0. The major tools are direct limit arguments and the Lyndon-Hochschild-Serre (L-H-S) spectral sequence, but the treatment of absolutely abelian groups does not use spectral sequences. All differentials dr for r ≥ 2 in the L-H-S spectral sequence of a pure abelian extension vanish. Included is a proof of the folklore theorem, that homology of groups commutes with direct limits also in the group variable, and a discussion of the L-H-S spectral sequence for direct limits.  相似文献

In this paper we study the relationships between the spaces of entire mappings of bounded type, entire mappings of nuclear bounded type, entire mappings of Pietsch integral bounded type, and entire mappings of Grothendieck integral bounded type. Several results due to Alencar (Proc. Roy. Irish Acad.85A (1985) 131-138) and Cilia and Gutiérrez (J. Aust. Math. Soc.76 (2004) 269-280) for homogeneous polynomials are extended to entire mappings. In the main result we prove that an entire mapping is of nuclear bounded type if and only if it factors through an entire mapping of Pietsch integral bounded type.  相似文献

We study a semiclassical limit of the lowest eigenvalue of a Schrödinger operator on a Wiener space. Key results are semiboundedness theorem of the Schrödinger operator, Laplace-type asymptotic formula and IMS localization formula. It is shown that all Banach space operators which have Fourier type p(1 < p 2) with respect to a second countable locally compact abelian group G also have Fourier type p with respect to every closed discrete subgroup H of G. We present a Choquet-Deny-type theorem in weighted spaces together with an application to simultaneous approximation and interpolation from inf-lattices generated by convex sets. Moreover, we determine a characterization of the Korovkin closure of vector lattices and, as a consequence, a different proof of the Stone-Weierstrass theorem for some weighted spaces.  相似文献

In this paper we establish a connection between the approximate factorization property appearing in the theory of dual algebras and the spectral inclusion property for a class of Toeplitz operators on Hilbert spaces of vector valued square integrable functions. As an application, it follows that a wide range of dual algebras of subnormal Toeplitz operators on various Hardy spaces associated to function algebras have property (A 1(1)). It is also proved that the dual algebra generated by a spherical isometry (with a possibly infinite number of components) has the same property. One particular application is given to the existence of unimodular functions sitting in cyclic invariant subspaces of weak* Dirichlet algebras.
