When does the fixed point property of a finite ordered set imply its dismantlability by irreducible elements? For instance, if it has width two. Although every finite ordered set is dismantlable by retractible (not necessarily irreducible) elements, surprisingly, a finite, dimension two ordered set, need not be dismantlable by irreducible elements. If, however, a finite ordered set with the fixed point property is N-free and of dimension two, then it is dismantlable by irreducibles. A curious consequence is that every finite, dimension two ordered set has a complete endomorphism spectrum.  相似文献

The extraction degree measures commonality of factorization between any two elements in a commutative, cancellative monoid. Additional properties of the extraction degree are developed for monoids possessing a Cale basis. For block monoids, the complete set of extraction degrees is calculated between any two elements, between any two irreducible elements, and between any irreducible element and any general element.  相似文献

The field of generalized power series with real coefficients and exponents in an ordered abelian divisible group is a classical tool in the study of real closed fields. We prove the existence of irreducible elements in the ring consisting of the generalized power series with non-positive exponents. The following candidate for such an irreducible series was given by Conway (1976): . Gonshor (1986) studied the question of the existence of irreducible elements and obtained necessary conditions for a series to be irreducible. We show that Conway's series is indeed irreducible. Our results are based on a new kind of valuation taking ordinal numbers as values. If we can give the following test for irreducibility based only on the order type of the support of the series: if the order type is either or of the form and the series is not divisible by any monomial, then it is irreducible. To handle the general case we use a suggestion of
M.-H. Mourgues, based on an idea of Gonshor, which allows us to reduce to the special case . In the final part of the paper we study the irreducibility of series with finite support.

The classification of irreducible square integrable representations of classical -adic groups is completed in this paper, under a natural local assumption. Further, this classification gives a parameterization of irreducible tempered representations of these groups. Therefore, it implies a classification of the non-unitary duals of these groups (modulo cuspidal data). The classification of irreducible square integrable representations is directly related to the parameterization of irreducible square integrable representations in terms of dual objects, which is predicted by Langlands program.

Let L be a finite lattice. A map f of the join irreducible elements of L to the meet irreducible elements of L is called a matching of L if f is one-to-one and x?f(x) for each join irreducible x. An operator on a complex, separable, infinite dimensional Hilbert space is strongly irreducible if it does not commute with any nontrivial idempotent. This article answers the following questions of D. A. Herrero: (i) Given an operatorT with connected spectrum, can we find a strongly irreducible operatorL such that they have same spectral picture? (ii) When we use a sequence of irreducible operators to approximateT, can the approximation be the “most economic”? i.e., does there exist a strongly irreducible operatorL such thatTS(L) ? It is proved that the variety of representable idempotent commutative residuated lattices is locally finite. The -generated subdirectly irreducible algebras in this variety are shown to have at most elements each. A constructive characterization of the subdirectly irreducible algebras is provided, with some applications. The main result implies that every finitely based extension of positive relevance logic containing the mingle and Gödel-Dummett axioms has a solvable deducibility problem.

In this paper, some properties of prime elements, pseudoprime elements, irreducible elements and coatoms in posets are investigated. We show that the four kinds of elements are equivalent to each other in finite Boolean posets. Furthermore, we demonstrate that every element of a finite Boolean poset can be represented by one kind of them. The example presented in this paper indicates that this result may not hold in every finite poset, but all the irreducible elements are proved to be contained in each order generating set. Finally, the multiplicative auxiliary relation on posets and the notion of arithmetic poset are introduced, and some properties about them are generalized to posets.  相似文献

This paper computes the irreducible characters of the alternating Hecke algebras, which are deformations of the group algebras of the alternating groups. More precisely, we compute the values of the irreducible characters of the semisimple alternating Hecke algebras on a set of elements indexed by minimal length conjugacy class representatives and we show that these character values determine the irreducible characters completely. As an application, we determine a splitting field for the alternating Hecke algebras in the semisimple case.  相似文献

Abstract. Explicit models are constructed for irreducible *-representations of the quantised universalenveloping algebra Uq(gl(n)). The irreducible decomposition of these modules with respect to thesubalgebra Uq(gl(n-1)) is given, and the corresponding spherical and associated spherical elementsare determined in terms of little q-Jacobi polynomials. Our main goal is to develop a representation for finite distributive nearlattices through certain ordered structures. This representation generalizes the well-known representation given by Birkhoff for finite distributive lattices through finite posets. We also study finite distributive nearlattices through the concepts of dual atoms, boolean elements, complemented elements and irreducible elements. We prove that the sets of boolean elements and complemented elements form semi-boolean algebras. We show that the set of boolean elements of a finite distributive lattice is a boolean lattice.  相似文献

Let D be an integral domain such that every nonzero nonunit of D is a finite product of irreducible elements. In this article, we introduce and study several unifying concepts for the theory of nonunique factorization in D. They give a new way to measure, in some sense, how far an half-factorial domain (resp., bounded factorization domain, atomic domain) D is from being a UFD (resp., finite factorization domain, Cohen–Kaplansky domain) based on equivalence relations on the set of irreducible elements of D.  相似文献
