The opinions of logistics educators in Taiwan on OR practices in the domestic logistics industry are explored in this research. In this study, questionnaires were given to 42 pre-screened educators at 10 logistics departments and graduate institutes. According to the 37 valid returned questionnaires, 70% of the responding educators believe the major source of OR techniques in Taiwan’s logistics industry originates from individual employee training, while 92% believe OR is not widely used primarily because companies are unfamiliar with OR techniques. OR techniques were considered helpful in solving problems by 73%. Generally speaking, familiarity with OR techniques is not associated with implementation of OR techniques by educators. Additionally, logistics educators express concern about insufficient training for logistics students in Taiwan. However, they are optimistic about the logistics industry’s willingness to more actively adopt OR techniques in Taiwan in the next two years.  相似文献

This paper surveys the research area of cooperative games associated with several types of operations research problems in which various decision makers (players) are involved. Cooperating players not only face a joint optimisation problem in trying, e.g., to minimise total joint costs, but also face an additional allocation problem in how to distribute these joint costs back to the individual players. This interplay between optimisation and allocation is the main subject of the area of operations research games. It is surveyed on the basis of a distinction between the nature of the underlying optimisation problem: connection, routing, scheduling, production and inventory.  相似文献

We introduce a model for the linguistic hedges ‘very’ and ‘quite’ within the label semantics framework, and combined with the prototype and conceptual spaces theories of concepts. The proposed model emerges naturally from the representational framework we use and as such, has a clear semantic grounding. We give generalisations of these hedge models and show that they can be composed with themselves and with other functions, going on to examine their behaviour in the limit of composition.  相似文献

Harnessing the supply base is an important but complex task for enterprises. Supplier performance evaluation is increasingly seen as a strategic issue for companies to maintain and enhance the competitive edge. However, evaluating suppliers is complicated by the fact that various criteria must be considered in the decision-making process, and is inherently a multicriteria decision-making (MCDM) problem. It also concerns the evaluation by different experts of multiple attributes, both qualitative and quantitative. To perceive and to estimate effectively the capability of suppliers are real arduous tasks for executives. This paper takes advantage of the 2-tuple linguistic computing to coping with the heterogeneity and information loss problems while the evaluation processes of subjective integration. The proposed approach based on the group decision-making scenario assists executives in adroit manipulation of the heterogeneity during integration processes and averts the information loss effectively. Finally, we demonstrate the validity and feasibility by means of a high-technology company in Taiwan.  相似文献

During the sensor evaluation procedure, each valuator uses his/her own ordinary linguistic truth values for the same factor because of different preference. That will brings some disadvantages to aggregate the information. For a uniform criterion, the standard linguistic truth value (SLTV) set is proposed. Based on the former hypothesis of transformation models of linguistic truth values, four transformation models are discussed: the model of point to point, the model of fuzzy set to point, the model of point to fuzzy set and the model of fuzzy set to fuzzy set. An example is to analyze it. Using the applicability measure we can choose appropriate SLTV for the different sensory evaluation system.  相似文献

With the rapid growth of databases in many modern enterprises data mining has become an increasingly important approach for data analysis. The operations research community has contributed significantly to this field, especially through the formulation and solution of numerous data mining problems as optimization problems, and several operations research applications can also be addressed using data mining methods. This paper provides a survey of the intersection of operations research and data mining. The primary goals of the paper are to illustrate the range of interactions between the two fields, present some detailed examples of important research work, and provide comprehensive references to other important work in the area. The paper thus looks at both the different optimization methods that can be used for data mining, as well as the data mining process itself and how operations research methods can be used in almost every step of this process. Promising directions for future research are also identified throughout the paper. Finally, the paper looks at some applications related to the area of management of electronic services, namely customer relationship management and personalization.  相似文献

This paper aims at specifying the contribution of OR to environmental planning. To this purpose a framework for classifying relevant literature is proposed, according to which the literature has been reviewed and discussed with respect to both thematic and methodological aspects. It is shown that during the last few years, OR has extended its scope to include notably environmental applications. Several OR methods and tools are employed either to identify the type and intensity of environmental problems, or to assist environmental planners to effectively cope with these problems. It is illustrated that OR's relationship with environmental planning is dynamic and interactive in the sense that from the complexity of the issues examined stems the need to develop and/or adapt specific methodological tools and thus contributes to the development of both scientific fields.  相似文献

A fuzzy-set-based approach is presented to describe linguistic information in multi-criteria decision making. After having introduced concepts of determinacy and consistency of linguistic terms, the understandable degree and consistence degree of linguistic terms are illustrated by these two concepts. We have recently proposed a structured algorithm for solving constrained nonlinear least-squares problems and established its local two-step Q-superlinear convergence rate. The approach is based on an earlier adaptive structured scheme due to Mahdavi-Amiri and Bartels of the exact penalty method. The structured adaptation makes use of the ideas of Nocedal and Overton for handling quasi-Newton updates of projected Hessians and adapts a structuring scheme due to Engels and Martinez. For robustness, we have employed a specific nonsmooth line search strategy, taking account of the least-squares objective. Numerical results also confirm the practical relevance of our special considerations for the inherent structure of the least squares. Here, we establish global convergence of the proposed algorithm using a weaker condition than the one used by the exact penalty method of Coleman and Conn for general nonlinear programs.  相似文献

The geometrical interpretation of a family of higher order iterative methods for solving nonlinear scalar equations was presented in [S. Amat, S. Busquier, J.M. Gutiérrez, Geometric constructions of iterative functions to solve nonlinear equations. J. Comput. Appl. Math. 157(1) (2003) 197-205]. This family includes, as particular cases, some of the most famous third-order iterative methods: Chebyshev methods, Halley methods, super-Halley methods, C-methods and Newton-type two-step methods. The aim of the present paper is to analyze the convergence of this family for equations defined between two Banach spaces by using a technique developed in [J.A. Ezquerro, M.A. Hernández, Halley’s method for operators with unbounded second derivative. Appl. Numer. Math. 57(3) (2007) 354-360]. This technique allows us to obtain a general semilocal convergence result for these methods, where the usual conditions on the second derivative are relaxed. On the other hand, the main practical difficulty related to the classical third-order iterative methods is the evaluation of bilinear operators, typically second-order Fréchet derivatives. However, in some cases, the second derivative is easy to evaluate. A clear example is provided by the approximation of Hammerstein equations, where it is diagonal by blocks. We finish the paper by applying our methods to some nonlinear integral equations of this type.  相似文献
