A linear analysis is presented for pulse shapes produced by a spatial and temporal delta-function disturbance of cyclotron-resonance-maser modes for the case where the initial equilibrium state is free of radiation. A pinch-point analysis based on the theory of R.J. Briggs (1964) and A. Bers (1983) is employed. Numerical and analytical techniques are developed for the straightforward calculation of pinch-point coordinates in a reference frame moving with arbitrary velocity in the axial direction. Examples analyzed include the absolute instability in the waveguide operating mode, in higher harmonics of the operating mode, and in lower-frequency waveguide modes when the operating mode is a higher-order waveguide mode. Effects of waveguide wall resistance on pulse shapes and the effectiveness of such resistance in suppressing or reducing the growth rates of absolute instabilities are also analyzed  相似文献

A modified resonance theory of waveguide circulator with ferrite specimen is presented. The kernal of this theory is a two-step analysis method of an H-plane Y-junction waveguide circulator. For the first step, the ferrite specimens of Y-junction waveguide circulators are treated as if it were dielectric resonators with no magnetic bias. This simplistic approach is used to design the ferrite specimens of the circulators. Simple formulas are developed for determining the center frequency of the circulators. For the second step, wave circulation is made possible when a pair of degenerate resonance modes experiences different changes when the ferrite specimens are being magnetized. A modified analysis of joint resonance theory and simple field theory is advanced to evaluate the performances of the circulators. Good agreements between the analytically obtained performance and experimental result of various MMW waveguide circulators are observed.  相似文献

A detailed analysis of electrooptic light modulation in optical waveguides is presented. Several important problems of a waveguide modulator, such as the difference of waveguide axes from crystalline electrooptic ones, the distribution of transverse and longitudinal field components of light modes, and the traveling-wave property of the modulating field, are discussed. The analysis is based on the coupled mode theory, regarding the modulation as the coupling among sidebands of unperturbed waveguide modes. The coupled mode equation is derived for the modulation in optical waveguides. It can be solved if the normal modes of the waveguide are given. Actually the equation is solved for the modulation in dielectric slab waveguides and the mechanism of modulation is discussed. The results of the analysis are applied to designing two types of waveguide modulators. In an example (10.6 μm modulator with a GaAs slab waveguide) a new efficient crystal orientation is found. The calculated phase retardation with this orientation is 0.13 rad/(V·cm) with a 1 μm thick slab. Another example of a 0.633 μm modulator using a LiTaO3 crystal as a substrate is also described.  相似文献

 建立了由损耗段和铜段组成的波导结构的Ka波段二次谐波回旋行波放大器理论模型,并进行了非线性理论研究。基于稳定性分析,确定35 GHz TE02模二次谐波回旋行波放大器的基本工作参数:波导半径为1.02 cm,电子注工作电压为90 kV,工作电流为25 A,工作磁场为0.642 6 T,横纵速度比为1.2;然后通过模拟详细分析了工作电流、波导损耗和速度零散等因素对该放大器性能的影响。研究表明:在该结构中损耗段可以有效地抑制模式竞争从而提高输出功率和带宽;工作电流对输出功率的影响存在最大值;速度零散对输出功率有很大的影响。  相似文献

Theoretical and experimental investigations of the folded waveguide launcher as proposed for use in the ion-cyclotron range of frequencies (ICRF) heating of tokamak plasmas are presented. Theoretical results include an analysis of the folded waveguide using Ritz's method to obtain various field quantities. The cutoff wavenumbers from this analysis are within 10% of those calculated using an unfolded equivalent rectangular waveguide model. Measurements of cavity resonances for a scale-model ICRF-folded waveguide with a cutoff frequency of 2.4 GHz also agree closely with those calculated using an unfolded equivalent model. An unfolded equivalent waveguide model is used to evaluate the properties of an inductive strip placed in the folded waveguide. Applying variational analyses provides upper and lower bounds to the reflection magnitude |S11| that are in good agreement with measured values. Polarizing plates (which have been proposed to increase the on-axis directivity of the radiated power) are modeled using an unfolded equivalent waveguide. A variational analysis is used to determine an upper-bound value of |S11| in air due to a polarizing plate inside a matched folded waveguide. Measured values are found to be within 3% of the calculated values, with |S11|>0.95 for frequencies between 2.5 and 4.5 GHz  相似文献

A novel network approach is proposed to analyze periodic dielectric waveguide of finite length. Our approximate analysis is to consider a bounded waveguide problem in which perfectly-conducting walls are introduced, and the periodic corrugation is regarded as consisting of step discontinuities connected by a length of uniform slab waveguide. Application of conservation of complex power technique (CCPT) allows us to take into account of both surface modes and only a few non-surface-modes, and readily derive propagation characteristics of the wave-guide with finite periodic corrugations around Bragg interaction region.  相似文献

A tight-binding optical waveguide formed by proximity coupling of nearest-neighbor resonators, e.g., a coupled-resonator optical waveguide (CROW), has distinct wave and pulse propagation characteristics compared with a conventional waveguide, and several applications in photonic devices have been proposed recently. But analysis of the dispersion, and in particular the group-velocity dispersion, in such a waveguide requires particular attention: the waveguide displays two distinct regimes of operation, depending on the position of the wave packet in the dispersion relationship.  相似文献

 设计了一种高功率微波双波段同轴馈源,从理论分析和数值仿真两方面进行了验证。它采用同轴结构馈电,C波段的工作中心频率为4.15 GHz,利用加入轴向波纹的圆波导结构馈电;L波段的工作中心频率为1.75 GHz,利用同轴波导馈电。通过调整外筒半径的大小,可有效抑制低频段高阶模的传输,同时径向波纹结构可有效改善高频段微波的辐射特性。利用模式匹配法和组合散射矩阵理论对馈源结构进行了分析,理论计算和数值仿真结果具有良好的一致性,所设计的双波段馈源结构紧凑,副瓣电平低,E面和H面方向图等化特性良好。  相似文献

A model problem is considered for a radiator in the form of a circular disk with a given pressure jump at its surface. The radiator is inserted in a soft screen coinciding with the upper boundary of the Pekeris waveguide. A series expansion of the sound field in normal modes is obtained. A numerical analysis of the radiation impedance and its components that are responsible for the radiation into the waveguide and into the halfspace is carried out.  相似文献

A general approach for the analysis of optical waveguides with the presence of an active medium is presented. It is shown from first principles that the dispersion and gain (or loss) of the active medium can be incorporated into the modal analysis of the waveguide by defining an effective complex refractive index. The applicability of this approach, in contrast with that of the conventional analysis, is investigated, employing the hollow circular cylindrical waveguide amplifier as a typical example.  相似文献

We numerically characterize a novel type of a photonic crystal waveguide, which consists of several rows of periodically arranged dielectric cylinders. In such a nanopillar photonic crystal waveguide, light confinement is due to the total internal reflection. A nanopillar waveguide is a multimode waveguide, where the number of modes is equal to the number of rows building the waveguide. The strong coupling between individual waveguides leads to the proposal of an ultrashort directional coupler based on nanopillar waveguides. We present a systematic analysis of the dispersion and transmission efficiency of nanopillar photonic crystal waveguides and directional couplers. Plane wave expansion and finite difference time domain methods were used to characterize numerically nanopillar photonic crystal structures both in two- and three-dimensional spaces.  相似文献

基于不规则波导模式匹配法以及缓变波导中电磁波模式耦合理论,研究了一种W波段圆波导TE62模式激励器. 该波导模式激励器采用矩形波导TE10模式通过侧壁耦合馈入同轴波导,利用同轴波导的选模特性激励TE61模式;随后利用轴向半径周期微扰的圆波导实现TE61–TE62模式变换. 文中推导了矩形-同轴波导模式匹配理论,系统研究了波导结构缓变参数对模式变换效率的影响,完成了模式变换器的优化仿真设计,数值计算结果表明:中心频率处TE62模式的转换效率为94.5%,纯度为98.16%,效率85%以上带宽达到1 GHz,能够满足回旋管冷测的要求. 关键词: 同轴波导 模式变换 耦合模理论 半径微扰  相似文献

A theoretical investigation of field components for transverse electric mode in the parallel-plate waveguides has been studied. In this analysis two different types of waveguide structures have been discussed, i.e., (a) normal good/perfect conducting parallel-plate waveguide filled with nonlinear left-handed material and (b) high-temperature-superconducting parallel-plate waveguide filled with nonlinear left-handed material. We present a closed-form expression for the the input impedance of a microstrip probe in a rectangular waveguide. The probe extends only part way across the waveguide and is therefore compatible with RF components that require an open circuit at low frequencies. Our analysis is based on the spectral-domain method and is able to take into account the orientation of the antenna with respect to the direction of propagation. We have examined the validity of our model by carrying out extensive impedance measurements at 5GHz. In those cases where the probe did not extend more than half way across the waveguide, excellent agreement was obtained. We show that the bandwidth of a probe that stretches only part way cross the waveguide is very much greater than the bandwidth of a probe that stretches all of the way across the waveguide and that is earthed at both ends. Moreover, the input resistance is lower and more suited to submillimetre-wave detectors such as SIS tunnel junctions. Our expression suggests that it should be possible to develop low-impedance, wideband probes for nearlydouble-height waveguide, and this implies that the upper frequency limit to which probes and waveguides can be manufactured can be extended well into the THz frequency range. A related, and often neglected consideration, is that the ohmic loss associated with an oversized waveguide is very much smaller than the ohmic loss associated with a reduced-height waveguide.  相似文献

The finite difference time domain method is combined with eigenmode analysis of the waveguide and the Helmholtz-Kirchhoff integral to study the field distribution and the throughput of the near-field optical probe. This includes a waveguide, a Si substrate with A1 coating, and a subwavelength aperture. It is found that the optics inside the probe and the optical properties of the probe depend strongly on the field distribution of the incident light.  相似文献

 优化设计了一种220 GHz的折叠波导慢波结构的尺寸,对其冷测特性如色散、耦合阻抗和衰减进行了分析。理论分析和软件仿真结果表明设计的折叠波导慢波结构在中心频率处具有较平缓的色散关系,较高的耦合阻抗和较低的电路衰减。互作用模拟表明,在电子注电压为20 kV,电流为10 mA时,27 mm(50个周期)的折叠波导慢波结构在220 GHz具有14.5 dB的增益,3 dB带宽为16.3 GHz(211.9~228.2 GHz)。  相似文献

A planar open dielectric waveguide with periodic rectangular corrugations is investigated in the case that surface wave is guided and propagates normally to the corrugation. Our approximate analysis with the propagation characteristics is to consider a corresponding bounded waveguide problem in which perfect electric or magnetic walls are introduced, and the periodic corrugation is regarded as consisting of step discontinuities connected by a length of uniform slab waveguide. By properly taking into account of both surface modes and only a few non-surface-modes, and using conservation of complex power technique (CCPT) as well as solution selection rule (SSR), we can readily derive propagation characteristics in the Bragg interaction region. 提出了在完整三角晶格光子晶体中引入两线缺陷构成的耦合型波导结构。通过分析谱带形对不同结构参数的依赖关系,在最优化的光子晶体耦合波导中,找到了一种独特的、群速近似为零的谱带。通过对波导宽度的啁啾实现了不同频率光的色散补偿,最终得到了带宽为13.24nm、平均群折射率为28的宽带理想慢光,并进一步采用二维时域有限差分(FDTD)算法进行了验证。数值分析结果表明,高斯脉冲在耦合波导中传输后的相对时域展宽低于10%。  相似文献
