LetX andY be arbitrary non-empty sets and letS a non-empty subset ofX ×Y. We give necessary and sufficient conditions onS which ensure that every real valued function onS is the sum of a function onX and a function onY.  相似文献

A Markov process on a compact metric space,X is given by random transformations.S is a finite set of continuous transformations ofX to itself. A random evolution onX is defined by lettingx inX evolve toT(x) forT inS with probability that depends onx andT but is independent of any other past measurable events. This type of model is often called a place dependent iterated function system. The transformations are assumed to have either monotone or contractive properties. Theorems are given to describe the number and types of ergodic invariant measures. Special emphasis is given to learning models and self-reinforcing random walks.Supported in part by AFOSR Grant No. 91-0215, the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation and SFB 170, University of Göttingen.  相似文献

LetX be a projective scheme over a noetherian base schemeS, and letF be a coherent sheaf onX. For any coherent sheaf ε onX, consider the set-valued contravariant functor Hom(ε,F)S-schemes, defined by Hom(ε,F) (T)= Hom(ε T ,F T) where ε T andF T are the pull-backs of ε andF toX T =X x S T. A basic result of Grothendieck ([EGA], III 7.7.8, 7.7.9) says that ifF is flat over S then Komε,F) is representable for all ε. We prove the converse of the above, in fact, we show that ifL is a relatively ample line bundle onX over S such that the functor Hom(L -n ,F) is representable for infinitely many positive integersn, thenF is flat overS. As a corollary, takingX =S, it follows that ifF is a coherent sheaf on S then the functorTH°(T, F t) on the category ofS-schemes is representable if and only ifF is locally free onS. This answers a question posed by Angelo Vistoli. The techniques we use involve the proof of flattening stratification, together with the methods used in proving the author’s earlier result (see [N1]) that the automorphism group functor of a coherent sheaf onS is representable if and only if the sheaf is locally free.  相似文献

The aim of this paper is to study the properties of measures on a totally ordered spaceX. It is shown that if the cardinal of every closed discrete subset ofX is of measure zero then every non-atomic measure onX is τ-additive. It is also proved that a continuous Borel measure μ onX is Radon if and only if μ is perfect, τ-additive and the support of μ is almost a totally ordered space.

Summary IfS→2 X is a surjective semigroup homomorphism, then the ultrafilters onX correspond biunivocally to the minimal prime ideals to the kernel. Some examples are given.

Shereshevsky has shown that a shift-commuting homeomorphism from the two-dimensional full shift to itself cannot be expansive, and asked if such a homeomorphism can have finite positive entropy. We formulate an algebraic analogue of this problem, and answer it in a special case by proving the following: ifT : X → X is a mixing endomorphism of a compact metrizable abelian groupX, andT commutes with a completely positive entropyZ 2-actionS onX by continuous automorphisms, thenT has infinite entropy. LetT: YY be the Bernoulli two shift with independent generatorQ={Q 0,Q 1} and letS: XX be a measure preserving bijection. If (S, X) is ergodic then the skew product onX×Y defined by {fx339-1} is aK-automorphism. IfŜ is also Bernoulli we sayS is pre-Bernoulli. J. Feldman showed that ifS is pre-Bernoulli thenS must be loosely Bernoulli. We construct an example to show the converse is false, i.e. anS that is loosely Bernoulli but not pre-Bernoulli.  相似文献

Some relations between cardinal invariants ofX andC(X) are established in the weak topology, whereC(X) is the space of continuous real-valued functions onX in the compact-open topology.  相似文献

In this paper we define automata-linearly independence. An automatonM has a basis B iffM is free provided that we assume that the action ofS onX × S is (x,s)a = (x,sa) for alla, s ∈ S andxX. If a semigroupS is PRID, every subautomaton of a freeS-automaton is free.  相似文献

We study asymptotic properties of discrete and continuous time generalized simulated annealing processesX(·) by considering a class of singular perturbed Markov chains which are closely related to the large deviation of perturbed diffusion processes. Convergence ofX(t) in probability to a setS 0 of desired states, e.g., the set of global minima, and in distribution to a probability concentrated onS 0 are studied. The corresponding two critical constants denoted byd and withd are given explicitly. When the cooling schedule is of the formc/logt, X(t) converges weakly forc>0. Whether the weak limit depends onX(0) or concentrates onS 0 is determined by the relation betweenc, d, and . Whenc>, the expression for the rate of convergence for each state is also derived.  相似文献

A topologized semigroup X having an evenly continuous resp., topologically equicontinuous, family RX of right translations is investigated. It is shown that: (1) every left semitopological semigroup X with an evenly continuous family RX is a topological semigroup, (2) a semitopological group X is a paratopological group if and only if the family RX is evenly continuous and (3) a semitopological group X is a topological group if and only if the family RX is topologically equicontinuous. In particular, we get that for any paratopological group X which is not a topological group, the family RX provides an example of a transitive group of homeomorphisms of X that is evenly continuous and not topologically equicontinuous. The last conclusion answers negatively a question posed by H.L. Royden.  相似文献

Ifα is an irreducible nonexpansive ergodic automorphism of a compact abelian groupX (such as an irreducible nonhyperbolic ergodic toral automorphism), thenα has no finite or infinite state Markov partitions, and there are no nontrivial continuous embeddings of Markov shifts inX. In spite of this we are able to construct a symbolic spaceV and a class of shift-invariant probability measures onV each of which corresponds to anα-invariant probability measure onX. Moreover, everyα-invariant probability measure onX arises essentially in this way. The last part of the paper deals with the connection between the two-sided beta-shiftV β arising from a Salem numberβ and the nonhyperbolic ergodic toral automorphismα arising from the companion matrix of the minimal polynomial ofβ, and establishes an entropy-preserving correspondence between a class of shift-invariant probability measures onV β and certainα-invariant probability measures onX. This correspondence is much weaker than, but still quite closely modelled on, the connection between the two-sided beta-shifts defined by Pisot numbers and the corresponding hyperbolic ergodic toral automorphisms.  相似文献

LetC(X,Y) be the space of continuous functions from a metric space (X,d) to a metric space (Y, e).C(X, Y) can be thought as subset of the hyperspaceCL(X×Y) of closed and nonempty subsets ofX×Y by identifying each element ofC(X,Y) with its graph. We considerC(X,Y) with the topology inherited from the Wijsman topology induced onCL(X×Y) by the box metric ofd ande. We study the relationships between the Wijsman topology and the compact-open topology onC(X,Y) and also conditions under which the Wijsman topology coincide with the Fell topology. Sufficient conditions under which the compactopen topology onC(X,Y) is weaker than the Wijsman topology are given (IfY is totally bounded, then for every metric spaceX the compactopen topology onC(X,Y) is weaker than the Wijsman topology and the same is true forX locally connected andY rim-totally bounded). We prove that a metric spaceX is boundedly compact iff the Wijsman topology onC(X, ℝ) is weaker than the compact-open topology. We show that ifX is a σ-compact complete metric space andY a compact metric space, then the Wijsman topology onC(X,Y) is Polish.  相似文献

Let X be a Banach space, S be a compact Hausdorff space and Y be a U-proximinal subspace of X. We prove that C(S,Y) is locally uniformly strongly proximinal in C(S,X) and the corresponding metric projection map is Hausdorff metric continuous.  相似文献

The concept of ‘topological right transversal’ is introduced to study right transversals in topological groups. Given any right quasigroupS with a Tychonoff topologyT, it is proved that there exists a Hausdorff topological group in whichS can be embedded algebraically and topologically as a right transversal of a subgroup (not necessarily closed). It is also proved that if a topological right transversal(S, T S ,T S , o) is such thatT S =T S is a locally compact Hausdorff topology onS, thenS can be embedded as a right transversal of a closed subgroup in a Hausdorff topological group which is universal in some sense.  相似文献

A relatively easy proof is given for the known theorem that a Banach space is reflexive if and only if each continuous linear functional attains its sup on the unit ball. This proof simplifies considerably for separable spaces and can be extended to give a proof that a boundedw-closed subsetX of a complete locally convex linear topological space isw-compact if and only if each continuous linear functional attains its sup onX.
