The neutron diffraction and magnetic susceptibility studies have shown that the magnetic structure of UPd2Ge2 changes dramatically even under very low iron doping. Though the general magnetic structure of pure UPd2Ge2 and of 1%Fe-doped samples is the same, the temperature intervals of existence of different magnetic phases are different. The values of transition temperatures, where (i) the ‘square’ modulated longitudinal spin-density wave (LSDW) structure with the propagation vector k=(0; 0; ) starts to transform into the sinusoidal modulated LSDW structure and (ii) the commensurate phase transforms into incommensurate one, shift under the 1%Fe doping to the higher temperatures (from 50 to 65 K and from 80 to 90 K, respectively). In the pure and 1%Fe-doped UPd2Ge2, the magnetic transition from the commensurate to incommensurate phase is accompanied by the drastic decrease of the propagation vector kz. In the 2%Fe-doped sample, besides the Néel point of TN=135 K, we have found two additional characteristic temperatures of 65 and 93 K. Below 65 K, the material has a simple antiferromagnetic (AF) structure with the propagation vector k=(0; 0; 1) and, at 65 K<T<TN, the magnetic structure is LSDW with sinusoidal modulation. Over almost the total region 65 K<T<TN, the LSDW magnetic structure is incommensurate. Only at about 93 K, the propagation vector passes the commensurate value of , whereas at 65<T<93 K and at 93 K<T<TN. We have found that the magnetic susceptibility and the uranium magnetic moment are sensitive to the transition. With increasing iron concentration to x0.15, the simple AF structure with k=(0; 0; 1) develops over all temperature region up to the Néel point. Below TN, the uranium magnetic moments are always parallel to the tetragonal c-axis.  相似文献

Spin-glass like magnetic ordering of iron moments was observed in both orthorhombic and tetragonal YBa2(Cu1−xFex)3Oy (x=0.08) by μ+SR measurements. In a “Tetra” sample, all the muons sense the superconducting transition at 60 K and magnetic ordering at around 15 K, while in an “Ortho” sample they reveal that two magnetically different parts exist in the sample: about 40% of the sample is superconducting withT c ≈90K and the remaining part is magnetic withT M≈33K. These phenomena can be explained in terms of clustering of the Fe atoms in the “Ortho” sample.  相似文献

Summary Dilute57Fe M?ssbauer-spectroscopy studies of RMn2X2 (X=Si and/or Ge, R=La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu and Gd) at 4.2 to 650 K yield the following results: Fe in RMn2X2 does not carry a magnetic moment. It reveals the magnetic order in the Mn and R sublattices through transferred hyperfine fields (∼100 kOe). The compounds LaMn2Si2, LaMn2Ge2, CeMn2Ge2, PrMn2Ge2, NdMn2Ge2 and SmMn2Ge2, known to be ferromagnets withT c=300–350 K, are antiferromagnetically ordered above their correspondingT c. TherT N values extend from 385 K (SmMn2Ge2) to 470 K (LaMn2Si2). At the ferromagnetic-antiferromagnetic phase transition, a sharp reorientation of the Mn magnetic moments relative to the crystalline axes occurs. In RMn2Si2−x Ge x with intermediatex values, the Ge is much more dominant in determining the magnetic properties of the Mn sublattice. While PrMn2Si2 is an antiferromagnet (T N=365 K) and PrMn2Ge2 is a ferromagnetantiferromagnet (T c=328 K,T N=415 K), we find that in PrMn2SiGe, the magnetic behaviour is similar to that in pure PrMn2Ge2,T c=305 K andT N=395 K. We present results of LDA calculations (band structure, densities of states, Fermi surfaces) for possible iron based superconductor BaFe2Se3 (Ba123) in normal (paramagnetic) phase. Results are briefly compared with similar data on prototype BaFe2As2 and (K,Cs)Fe2Se2 superconductors. Without doping this system is anti-ferromagnetic with T Nexp ∼ 250 K and rather complicated magnetic structure. Neutron diffraction experiments indicated the possibility of two possible spin structures (antiferromagnetically ordered “plaquettes” or “zigzags”), indistinguishable by neutron scattering. Using LSDA calculated exchange parameters we estimate Neel temperatures for both spin structures within the molecular field approximation and show τ1 (plaquettes) spin configuration to be more favorable than τ2 (zigzags).  相似文献

The newly developed Taylor-Interpolation-FFT (TI-FFT) algorithm dramatically increases the computational speeds for millimeter wave propagation from a planar (cylindrical) surface onto a “quasi-planar” (“quasi-cylindrical”) surface. Two different scenarios are considered in this article: the planar TI-FFT is for the computation of the wave propagation from a plane onto a “quasi-planar” surface and the cylindrical TI-FFT is for the computation of wave propagation from a cylindrical surface onto a “quasi-cylindrical” surface. Due to the use of the FFT, the TI-FFT algorithm has a computational complexity of O(N 2 log2N 2) for an N × N computational grid, instead of N 4 for the direct integration method. The TI-FFT algorithm has a low sampling rate according to the Nyquist sampling theorem. The algorithm has accuracy down to −80 dB and it works particularly well for narrow-band fields and “quasi-planar” (“quasi-cylindrical”) surfaces.  相似文献

We report the optical spectra and single crystal magnetic susceptibility of the one-dimensional antiferromagnet KFeS2. Measurements have been carried out to ascertain the spin state of Fe3+ and the nature of the magnetic interactions in this compound. The optical spectra and magnetic susceptibility could be consistently interpreted using aS=1/2 spin ground state for the Fe3+ ion. The features in the optical spectra have been assigned to transitions within thed-electron manifold of the Fe3+ ion, and analysed in the strong field limit of the ligand field theory. The high temperature isotropic magnetic susceptibility is typical of a low-dimensional system and exhibits a broad maximum at ∼565K. The susceptibility shows a well defined transition to a three dimensionally ordered antiferromagnetic state atT N=250 K. The intra and interchain exchange constants,J andJ′, have been evaluated from the experimental susceptibilities using the relationship between these quantities, andχ max,T max, andT N for a spin 1/2 one-dimensional chain. The values areJ=−440.71 K, andJ′=53.94 K. Using these values ofJ andJ′, the susceptibility of a spin 1/2 Heisenberg chain was calculated. A non-interacting spin wave model was used belowT N. The susceptibility in the paramagnetic region was calculated from the theoretical curves for an infiniteS=1/2 chain. The calculated susceptibility compares well with the experimental data of KFeS2. Further support for a one-dimensional spin 1/2 model comes from the fact that the calculated perpendicular susceptibility at 0K (2.75×10−4 emu/mol) evaluated considering the zero point reduction in magnetization from spin wave theory is close to the projected value (2.7×10−4 emu/mol) obtained from the experimental data.  相似文献

The magnetic properties of the EuMn2O5 multiferroic (samples consisting of single crystals and ceramic samples) have been investigated by the muon-spin-relaxation (μSR) method in the temperature range of 10–300 K. Below the magnetic ordering temperature T N = 40 K, the loss of the polarization of muons and the effect of the external magnetic field have been observed. Both phenomena can be explained by an additional channel of the depolarization of muons owing to the appearance of muons in a medium with a low electron density due to the charge separation process (the redistribution of the electron density in the phase transition process). The “memory” phenomenon has been revealed in a sample in the external magnetic field; the memory relaxation time depends on the size of the structure units of the samples (single crystals or ceramic grains).  相似文献

The magnetic properties of the PrPd2Ge2 and NdPd2Ge2 compounds have been investigated by magnetic measurements, specific heat measurements and neutron diffraction experiments. The PrPd2Ge2 compound orders antiferromagnetically below TN=5.0(2) with an original modulated magnetic structure characterized by a magnetic cell three times larger than the chemical one by tripling of the c parameter. The palladium atom is non magnetic and the Pr moments are parallel to the c-axis with a value of ≈2.0 μB at 2 K. The specific heat measurements clearly detect a low temperature transition for the NdPd2Ge2 compound, interpreted as a Nd sublattice antiferromagnetic ordering below 1.3(2) K.  相似文献

The ternary germanide Ce3Ni2Ge7 has been studied by means of neutron powder diffraction and Ce LIII X-ray absorption (XAS). This compound which orders antiferromagnetically below TN=7.2(2) K, crystallizes in the orthorhombic (Cmmm space group) La3Co2Sn7-type structure where Ce atoms occupying two inequivalent crystallographic sites: Ce1 at 2d site and Ce2 at 4i site. Below TN, the antiferromagnetic structure of Ce3Ni2Ge7 is collinear but only the Ce2 atoms carry a magnetic moment (1.98(2) μB at 1.4 K). The absence of ordered magnetic moment on Ce1 atoms can be correlated to the average valence v=3.03(1), determined by X-ray absorption spectroscopy, suggesting an intermediate valence state of cerium in the 2d site.  相似文献

A new spintronics material with the Curie temperature above room temperature, the ZnSiAs2 chalcopyrite doped with 1 and 2 wt % Mn, is synthesized. The magnetization, electrical resistivity, magnetoresistance, and the Hall effect of these compositions are studied. The temperature dependence of the electrical resistivity follows a semiconducting pattern with an activation energy of 0.12–0.38 eV (in the temperature range 124 K ≤ T ≤ 263 K for both compositions). The hole mobility and concentration are 1.33, 2.13 cm2/V s and 2.2 × 1016, 8 × 1016 cm−3 at T = 293 K for the 1 and 2 wt % Mn compositions, respectively. The magnetoresistance of both compositions, including the region of the Curie point, does not exceed 0.4%. The temperature dependence of the magnetization M(T) of both compositions exhibits a complicated character; indeed, for T ≤ 15 K, it is characteristic of superparamagnets, while for T > 15 K, spontaneous magnetization appears which correspond to a decreased magnetic moment per formula unit as compared to that which would be observed upon complete ferromagnetic ordering of Mn2+ spins or antiferromagnetic ordering of spins of the Mn2+ and Mn3+ ions. Thus, for T > 15 K, it is a frustrated ferro- or ferrimagnet. It is found that, unlike the conventional superparamagnets, the cluster moment μ c in these compositions depends on the magnetic field: ∼12000–20000μB for H = 0.1 kOe, ∼52–55μB for H = 11 kOe, and ∼8.6–11.0μB at H = 50 kOe for the compositions with 1 and 2 wt % Mn, respectively. The specific features of the magnetic properties are explained by the competition between the carrier-mediated exchange and superexchange interactions.  相似文献

μ+ SR-measurements in transversally applied magnetic fields of 2000 G and 4000 G on heavy-electron single crystal U2Zn17 are presented. They reveal that at least two types of interstitial sites are occupied by the positive muons. One of these sites (1/3, 2/3, 5/6) could be identified via induced local dipolar fields which aboveT N=9.7 K can exactly be derived from the magnetic susceptibility. The corresponding component of the μ+-signal exhibits a steplike decrease by about 40% atT N which is caused by the onset of a very broad distribution of static internal magnetic fields (ΔB≈1000 G) with zero average. Such a field distribution is in distinct contrast to dipolar-field calculations performed for the simple antiferromagnetic structure deduced from neutron diffraction. The remaining 60% of the muons contributing to this component belowT N are subject to a narrow static field distribution (ΔB≈1 G). The induced dipolar fields at the site (1/3, 2/3, 5/6) are temperature-independent belowT N. A weak dipolar coupling to the U-moments renders similar observations for muons occupying the second type of interstitial impossible.  相似文献

This paper reports on a study of the field and temperature dependences of the parameters of the particle magnetic interaction in a densely packed system of nanocrystals of the highly anisotropic hexagonal ferrite BaFe12O19 with the particles distributed in diameter within the range 10—100 nm and having volumes satisfying the criterion of “small Stoner—Wohlfarth particles.” It is shown that the resultant particle interaction in the temperature range 300 K≤T≤640 K has a negative sign, whereas for T>640 K, it is positive. The maximum values of the parameter Δm allow classification of the interaction as moderate in strength. The temperature dependences of the interaction parameters are found to correlate with manifestation of the size and surface effects in the system, which are characteristic of small particles (transition to the superparamagnetic state, “surface” anisotropy, and reduced exchange interaction in a structurally defective near-surface layer of particles).  相似文献

Magnetization measurements were performed on a lanthanum manganite La0.9Sr0.1MnO3 single crystal in the temperature interval 4.2–300 K and magnetic field interval 50 Oe-55 kOe in two sample cooling regimes: 1) cooling down to 4.2 K in a high (55 kOe) magnetic field, and 2) cooling in a “zero” field. It is shown that the temperature dependences of the magnetization M(T) are substantially different in these regimes. Pronounced anomalies of M(T) were observed at temperatures T*=103 K and T c =145 K. The first anomaly is attributed to a structural transition, while the second one corresponds to a ferromagnet-paramagnet phase transition. The magnetization of a La0.9Sr0.1MnO3 single crystal in the cooling regimes studied shows typical “spin-glass” behavior. Pis’ma Zh. éksp. Teor. Fiz. 68, No. 1, 39–43 (10 July 1998)  相似文献

A phenomenological model has been proposed for bulk self-diffusion and diffusion of interstitial atoms in the ranges of high (T > T D) and low (T < T D) temperatures (where T D is Debye temperature). It has been shown that the mechanisms of diffusion at high and low temperatures differ significantly. In the high-temperature range, the diffusion is provided by fluctuations, which can be described in terms of local melting, i.e., the formation of a “liquid diffusion channel.” In the low-temperature range, when melting for some reasons is hindered, the diffusion is due to the fluctuation formation of a “hollow diffusion channel.” The calculation of the activation energies of these processes in the case of self-diffusion agrees well with the experiment in the temperature range T > T D and has demonstrated that the activation energy increases significantly at T < T D. The calculation of the activation energy for diffusion of interstitial atoms in bcc metals agrees well with the experiment in the entire temperature range and provides an explanation of the decrease in the activation energy of diffusion at low temperatures.  相似文献

Strongly hydrogen-bonded diamagnetic “FμF” centres are formed by theμ + in a wide variety of fluoride crystals. Hydrogen atoms are expected to form similar “FHF” complexes. Through the “motional narrowing” of the zero-field muon relaxation function in NaF, we have observed an Arrhenius temperature dependence of the dissociation rate of theFμF complex, yielding a binding energy of 1700 (200) K for theμ + in theFμF centre.  相似文献

Elastic and inelastic neutron scattering studies of the Kondo lattice CeCu2Ge2 were performed. AtT N=4.1 K an incommensurate magnetic order develops with an ordering wave vectorq 0=(0.28, 0.28, 0.54) and an ordered moment µ s =0.74 µB. The crystalline electric field splits the 4f 1-J-multiplet of the Ce ion into a ground state doublet and a quartet at 191 K. The wave function of the ground state yields an ordered moment of 1.54µB. Thus, due to the onset of the formation of a Kondo singlet the magnetic moment is considerably reduced. The magnetic relaxation rate was investigated via quasielastic neutron scattering. The temperature dependence of (T) is characteristic of heavy-fermion systems with a high temperature square root dependence and a limiting low temperature value, yielding a Kondo temperatureT K10K. The quasielastic component of the scattered neutron intensities persists down to the lowest temperatures, well belowT N. This quasielastic line is regarded as a characteristic feature of heavy-fermion systems and corresponds to the enhanced value of the linear term of the specific heat.  相似文献

The magnetic and dielectric properties of EuMn2O5 and BiMn2O5 crystals are investigated over a wide range of temperatures 4.2–250 K, including the range TT N ≃40 K. Significant departures from the Curie-Weiss law are observed in both crystals for the magnetic susceptibility in the paramagnetic range; they are attributed to the presence of correlated domains of magnetic order over a wide range of temperatures. Anomalies in the dielectric properties of the crystals are observed in the same temperature range T>T N and, as in the case T<T N , are correlated with the magnetic properties. Zh. éksp. Teor. Time Differential Perturbed γ–γ Angular Correlation (TDPAC) technique was used to measure the magnetic hyperfine field at both Ge and Ce sites in CeMn2Ge2 and CeCo2Ge2 intermetallic compounds. The 111In (111Cd) probe nuclei was used to investigate the hyperfine interaction at Ge sites, while the 140La (140Ce) nuclei was used to measure the magnetic hyperfine field at Ce site. The present measurements cover the temperature ranges from 10–460 K for CeMn2Ge2 and 9–295 K for CeCo2Ge2, respectively. The result for 111Cd probe showed two distinct electric quadrupole frequencies above magnetic transition temperatures, in both compounds and a combined interaction in the magnetic region. The temperature dependence of the magnetic hyperfine field at 111Cd at Mn site for the CeMn2Ge2 compound showed a transition from ferromagnetic to antiferromagnetic phase around 320 K and from antiferromagnetic to paramagnetic phase at 420 K. While a small magnetic field was measured on 111Cd at Co site, no magnetic field on 140Ce site was observed in CeCo2Ge2. This revised version was published online in September 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

The magnetic properties of La2−2x Sr1+2x Mn2O7 polycrystals (x=0.3–0.4) are studied over a broad temperature range 80–600 K. Quasi-two-dimensional manganites have a complex magnetic structure that undergoes several transitions from one type of magnetic ordering to another. A specific feature of these manganites is a hyperbolic dependence of inverse susceptibility in the transition region from the magnetically ordered to paramagnetic state for T>360 K. This suggests the onset of ferrimagnetism. Electron irradiation to a fluence Φ=1×1018 electrons/cm2 is shown to have no effect on the long-range magnetic order while favoring the formation of paramagnetic polarons and of an inhomogeneous paramagnetic state. __________ Translated from Fizika Tverdogo Tela, Vol. 45, No. 8, 2003, pp. 1440–1445.
