Let K be a cyclic quartic field. Let i(K) denote the index of K. It is known that i(K){1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 12}. In Part 1 of this paper we show that i(K) assumes all of these values and we give necessary and sufficient conditions for each to occur. In Part 2 an asymptotic formula is given for the number of cyclic quartic fields with discriminant x and i(K)=i for each i{1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 12}.Received May 6, 2002; in revised form December 24, 2002 Published online June 23, 2003  相似文献

A functorial filtration GL n =S–1L n S0L n S i L n E n of the general linear group GL n, n 3, is defined and it is shown for any algebra A, which is a direct limit of module finite algebras, that S–1 L n (A)/S0L n (A) is abelian, that S0L n (A) S1L n (A) is a descending central series, and that S i L n (A) = E n(A) whenever i the Bass-Serre dimension of A. In particular, the K-functors k 1 S i L n =S i L n /E n are nilpotent for all i 0 over algebras of finite Bass-Serre dimension. Furthermore, without dimension assumptions, the canonical homomorphism S i L n (A)/S i+1 L n (A)S i L n+ 1(A)/S i+1 L n + 1 (A) is injective whenever n i + 3, so that one has stability results without stability conditions, and if A is commutative then S0L n (A) agrees with the special linear group SL n (A), so that the functor S0L n generalizes the functor SL n to noncommutative rings. In 1986, Kowol and Mitsch studied properties of the so-called natural partial order on T(X), the total transformation semigroup defined on a set X. In particular, they determined when two total transformations are related under this order, and they described the minimal and maximal elements of (T(X), ). In this paper, we extend that work to the semigroup P(X) of all partial transformations of X, compare with another natural partial order on P(X), characterise the meet and join of these two orders, and determine the minimal and maximal elements of P(X) with respect to each order.  相似文献

The Navier-Stokes equations for compressible barotropic fluid in 1D with the mass force under zero velocity boundary conditions are studied. We prove the uniform upper and lower bounds for the density as well as the uniform in time L 2()-estimates for x and u x (u is the velocity). Moreover, a collection of the decay rate estimates for - (with being the stationary density) and u in 2()-norm and H 1()-norm as time t are established. The results are given for general state function p() (but mainly monotone) and viscosity coefficient µ() of arbitrarily fast (or slow) growth as well as for the large data.  相似文献

We consider the (&, )-fragment of the intuitionistic propositional calculus. It is proved that under the standard transformation of a Gentzen derivation into a natural derivation(), the length of (())22·length( ). A -hyperfactorization ofK 2n is a collection of 1-factors ofK 2n for which each pair of disjoint edges appears in precisely of the 1-factors. We call a -hyperfactorizationtrivial if it contains each 1-factor ofK 2n with the same multiplicity (then =(2n–5)!!). A -hyperfactorization is calledsimple if each 1-factor ofK 2n appears at most once. Prior to this paper, the only known non-trivial -hyperfactorizations had one of the following parameters (or were multipliers of such an example)
(i)  2n=2 a +2, =1 (for alla3); cf. Cameron [3];
(ii)  2n=12, =15 or 2n=24, =495; cf. Jungnickel and Vanstone [8].

The graph has the CAB property if it has the CAB d property. We show the equivalence of the CAB property and the1-homogeneous property in a distance-regular graph with a 1 0.
