We derive a new special case C(q) of a general continued fraction recorded by Ramanujan in his Lost Notebook. We give a representation of the continued fraction C(q) as a quotient of Dedekind eta-function and then use it to prove modular identities connecting C(q) with each of the continued fractions \(C(-q)\), \(C(q^{2})\), \(C(q^{3})\), \(C(q^{5})\), \(C(q^{7})\), \(C(q^{11})\), \(C(q^{13})\) and \(C(q^{17})\). We also prove general theorems for the explicit evaluation of the continued fraction C(q) by using Ramanujan’s class invariants.  相似文献

The full n-Latin square is the \(n\times n\) array with symbols \(1,2,\dots ,n\) in each cell. In a way that is analogous to critical sets of full designs, a critical set of the full n-Latin square can be used to find a defining set for any Latin square of order n. In this paper we study the size of the smallest critical set for a full n-Latin square, showing this to be somewhere between \((n^3-2n^2+2n)/2\) and \((n-1)^3+1\). In the case that each cell is either full or empty, we show the size of a critical set in the full n-Latin square is always equal to \(n^3-2n^2-n\).  相似文献

An interassociate of a semigroup \((S,\cdot )\) is a semigroup \((S, *)\) such that for all \(a, b, c \in S\), \(a\cdot (b*c)=(a\cdot b) *c\) and \(a*(b\cdot c)=(a*b) \cdot c\). We investigate the bicyclic semigroup C and its interassociates. In particular, if p and q are the generators of the bicyclic semigroup and m and n are fixed nonnegative integers, the operation \(a*_{m,n} b= aq^mp^n b\) is known to be an interassociate. We show that for distinct pairs (mn) and (st), the interassociates \((C, *_{m,n})\) and \((C, *_{s,t})\) are not isomorphic. We also generalize a result regarding homomorphisms on C to homomorphisms on its interassociates.  相似文献

In this paper, we prove the following Riesz spaces’ version of the Korovkin theorem. Let E and F be two Archimedean Riesz spaces with F uniformly complete, let W be a nonempty subset of \(E^{+}\), and let \((T_{n})\) be a given sequence of (r-u)-continuous elements of \(\mathcal {L(}E,F)\), such that \(\left| T_{n}-T_{m}\right| x=\left| (T_{n}-T_{m})x\right| \mathcal {\ }\)for all \(x\in E^{+},\) \(m,n\ge n_{0}\) (for a given \(n_{0}\in \mathbb {N} )\). If the sequence \((T_{n}x)_{n}\) \((r-u)\)-converges for every \(x\in W\), then \((T_{n})\) \((r-u)\)-converges also pointwise on the ideal \(E_{W}\), generated by W, to a linear operator \(S_{0}:E_{W}\rightarrow F\). We also prove a similar Korovkin-type theorem for nets of operators. Some applications for f-algebras and orthomorphisms are presented.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the harmonic equation involving subcritical exponent \((P_{\varepsilon })\): \( \Delta u = 0 \), in \(\mathbb {B}^n\) and \(\displaystyle \frac{\partial u}{\partial \nu } + \displaystyle \frac{n-2}{2}u = \displaystyle \frac{n-2}{2} K u^{\frac{n}{n-2}-\varepsilon }\) on \( \mathbb {S}^{n-1}\) where \(\mathbb {B}^n \) is the unit ball in \(\mathbb {R}^n\), \(n\ge 5\) with Euclidean metric \(g_0\), \(\partial \mathbb {B}^n = \mathbb {S}^{n-1}\) is its boundary, K is a function on \(\mathbb {S}^{n-1}\) and \(\varepsilon \) is a small positive parameter. We construct solutions of the subcritical equation \((P_{\varepsilon })\) which blow up at two different critical points of K. Furthermore, we construct solutions of \((P_{\varepsilon })\) which have two bubbles and blow up at the same critical point of K.  相似文献

We show that if a modular cuspidal eigenform f of weight 2k is 2-adically close to an elliptic curve \(E/\mathbb {Q}\), which has a cyclic rational 4-isogeny, then n-th Fourier coefficient of f is non-zero in the short interval \((X, X + cX^{\frac{1}{4}})\) for all \(X \gg 0\) and for some \(c > 0\). We use this fact to produce non-CM cuspidal eigenforms f of level \(N>1\) and weight \(k > 2\) such that \(i_f(n) \ll n^{\frac{1}{4}}\) for all \(n \gg 0\).  相似文献

In this paper, we find all positive squarefree integers d such that the Pell equation \(X^2 - dY^2 = \pm 1\) has at least two positive integer solutions (XY) and \((X^{\prime },Y^{\prime })\) such that both X and \(X^{\prime }\) are sums of two Tribonacci numbers.  相似文献

In this paper, we introduce the notions of the q-Duhamel product and q-integration operator. We prove that the classical Wiener algebra \(W_+(\mathbb {D})\) of all analytic functions on the unit disc \(\mathbb {D}\) of the complex plane \(\mathbb {C}\) with absolutely convergent Taylor series extended to the boundary is a Banach algebra with respect to the q-Duhamel product. We also describe the cyclic vectors of the q-integration operator on \(W_+(\mathbb {D})\) and characterize its commutant in terms of the q-Duhamel product operators.  相似文献

There has been much research on \((p^{a},p^{b},p^{a},p^{a-b})\) relative difference sets with p a prime, while there are only a few results on (mnnmnm) relative difference sets with \(\text {gcd}(m,n)=1\). The non-existence results on (mnnmnm) relative difference sets with \(\text {gcd}(m,n)=1\) have only been obtained for the following five cases: (1) \(m=p,\ n=q,\ p>q\); (2) \(m=pq,\ n=3,\ p,q>3\); (3) \(m=4,\ n=p\); (4) \(m=2\) and (5) \(n=p\), where pq are distinct odd primes. For the existence results, there are only four constructions of semi-regular relative difference sets in groups of size not a prime power with the forbidden subgroup having size larger than 2. In this paper, we present some more non-existence results on (mnnmnm) relative difference sets with \(\text {gcd}(m,n)=1\). In particular, our result is a generalization of the main result of Hiramine’s work (J Comb Theory Ser A 117(7):996–1003, 2010). Meanwhile, we give a construction of non-abelian (16qq, 16q, 16) relative difference sets, where q is a prime power with \(q\equiv 1\pmod {4}\) and \(q>4.2\times 10^{8}\). This is the third known infinite classes of non-abelian semi-regular relative difference sets.  相似文献

The notation \(F\rightarrow (G,H)\) means that if the edges of F are colored red and blue, then the red subgraph contains a copy of G or the blue subgraph contains a copy of H. The connected size Ramsey number \(\hat{r}_c(G,H)\) of graphs G and H is the minimum size of a connected graph F satisfying \(F\rightarrow (G,H)\). For \(m \ge 2,\) the graph consisting of m independent edges is called a matching and is denoted by \(mK_2\). In 1981, Erdös and Faudree determined the size Ramsey numbers for the pair \((mK_2, K_{1,t})\). They showed that the disconnected graph \(mK_{1,t} \rightarrow (mK_2,K_{1,t})\) for \( t,m \ge 1\). In this paper, we will determine the connected size Ramsey number \(\hat{r}_c(nK_2, K_{1,3})\) for \(n\ge 2\) and \(\hat{r}_c(3K_2, C_4)\). We also derive an upper bound of the connected size Ramsey number \(\hat{r}_c(nK_2, C_4),\) for \(n\ge 4\).  相似文献

Let R be a commutative ring with nonzero identity, \(L_{n}(R)\) be the set of all lower triangular \(n\times n\) matrices, and U be a triangular subset of \(R^{n}\), i.e., the product of any lower triangular matrix with the transpose of any element of U belongs to U. The graph \(GT^{n}_{U}(R^n)\) is a simple graph whose vertices consists of all elements of \(R^{n}\), and two distinct vertices \((x_{1},\dots ,x_{n})\) and \((y_{1},\dots ,y_{n})\) are adjacent if and only if \((x_{1}+y_{1}, \ldots ,x_{n}+y_{n})\in U\). The graph \(GT^{n}_{U}(R^n)\) is a generalization for total graphs. In this paper, we investigate the basic properties of \(GT^{n}_{U}(R^n)\). Moreover, we study the planarity of the graphs \(GT^{n}_{U}(U)\), \(GT^{n}_{U}(R^{n}{\setminus } U)\) and \(GT^{n}_{U}(R^n)\).  相似文献

An n-normal operator may be defined as an \(n \times n\) operator matrix with entries that are mutually commuting normal operators and an operator \(T \in \mathcal {B(H)}\) is quasi-nM-hyponormal (for \(n \in \mathbb {N}\)) if it is unitarily equivalent to an \(n \times n\) upper triangular operator matrix \((T_{ij})\) acting on \(\mathcal {K}^{(n)}\), where \(\mathcal {K}\) is a separable complex Hilbert space and the diagonal entries \(T_{jj}\) \((j = 1,2,\ldots , n)\) are M-hyponormal operators in \(\mathcal {B(K)}\). This is an extended notion of n-normal operators. We prove a necessary and sufficient condition for an \(n \times n\) triangular operator matrix to have Bishop’s property \((\beta )\). This leads us to study the hyperinvariant subspace problem for an \(n \times n\) triangular operator matrix.  相似文献

A cyclic sequence of elements of [n] is an (nk)-Ucycle packing (respectively, (nk)-Ucycle covering) if every k-subset of [n] appears in this sequence at most once (resp. at least once) as a subsequence of consecutive terms. Let \(p_{n,k}\) be the length of a longest (nk)-Ucycle packing and \(c_{n,k}\) the length of a shortest (nk)-Ucycle covering. We show that, for a fixed \(k,p_{n,k}={n\atopwithdelims ()k}-O(n^{\lfloor k/2\rfloor })\). Moreover, when k is not fixed, we prove that if \(k=k(n)\le n^{\alpha }\), where \(0<\alpha <1/3\), then \(p_{n,k}={n\atopwithdelims ()k}-o({n\atopwithdelims ()k}^\beta )\) and \(c_{n,k}={n\atopwithdelims ()k}+o({n\atopwithdelims ()k}^\beta )\), for some \(\beta <1\). Finally, we show that if \(k=o(n)\), then \(p_{n,k}={n\atopwithdelims ()k}(1-o(1))\).  相似文献

Let \(P\ge 3\) be an integer and let \((U_{n})\) and \((V_{n})\) denote generalized Fibonacci and Lucas sequences defined by \(U_{0}=0,U_{1}=1\); \( V_{0}=2,V_{1}=P,\) and \(U_{n+1}=PU_{n}-U_{n-1}\), \(V_{n+1}=PV_{n}-V_{n-1}\) for \(n\ge 1.\) In this study, when P is odd, we solve the equation \( U_{n}=wx^{2}+1\) for \(w=1,2,3,5,6,7,10.\) After then, we solve some Diophantine equations utilizing solutions of these equations.  相似文献

Let k be a field and \(k(x_0,\ldots ,x_{p-1})\) be the rational function field of p variables over k where p is a prime number. Suppose that \(G=\langle \sigma \rangle \simeq C_p\) acts on \(k(x_0,\ldots ,x_{p-1})\) by k-automorphisms defined as \(\sigma :x_0\mapsto x_1\mapsto \cdots \mapsto x_{p-1}\mapsto x_0\). Denote by P the set of all prime numbers and define \(P_0=\{p\in P:\mathbb {Q}(\zeta _{p-1})\) is of class number one\(\}\) where \(\zeta _n\) a primitive n-th root of unity in \(\mathbb {C}\) for a positive integer n; \(P_0\) is a finite set by Masley and Montgomery (J Reine Angew Math 286/287:248–256, 1976). Theorem. Let k be an algebraic number field and \(P_k=\{p\in P: p\) is ramified in \(k\}\). Then \(k(x_0,\ldots ,x_{p-1})^G\) is not stably rational over k for all \(p\in P\backslash (P_0\cup P_k)\).  相似文献

In this paper, we study the torsion subgroup and rank of elliptic curves for the subfamilies of \(E_{m,p} : y^2=x^3-m^2x+p^2\), where m is a positive integer and p is a prime. We prove that for any prime p, the torsion subgroup of \(E_{m,p}(\mathbb {Q})\) is trivial for both the cases {\(m\ge 1\), \(m\not \equiv 0\pmod 3\)} and {\(m\ge 1\), \(m \equiv 0 \pmod 3\), with \(gcd(m,p)=1\)}. We also show that given any odd prime p and for any positive integer m with \(m\not \equiv 0\pmod 3\) and \(m\equiv 2\pmod {32}\), the lower bound for the rank of \(E_{m,p}(\mathbb {Q})\) is 2. Finally, we find curves of rank 9 in this family.  相似文献

In this paper, we introduce a trivariate q-polynomials \(F_n(x,y,z;q)\) as a general form of Hahn polynomials \(\psi _n^{(a)}(x|q)\) and \(\psi _n^{(a)}(x,y|q)\). We represent \(F_n(x,y,z;q)\) by two operators: the homogeneous q-shift operator \(L(b\theta _{xy})\) given by Saad and Sukhi (Appl Math Comput 215:4332–4339, 2010), and the Cauchy companion operator \(E(a,b;\theta )\) given by Chen (q-Difference Operator and Basic Hypergeometric Series, 2009) to derive the generating function, symmetric property, Mehler’s formula, Rogers formula, another Roger-type formula, linearization formula, and an extended Rogers formula for the trivariate q-polynomials. Then, we give the corresponding formulas for our new definitions of Hahn polynomials \(\psi _n^{(a)}(x|q)\) and \(\psi _n^{(a)}(x,y|q)\) by representing Hahn polynomials by the operators \(L(b\theta _{xy})\) and \(E(a,b;\theta )\), and by a special substitution in the trivariate q-polynomials \(F_n(x,y,z;q)\).  相似文献

In this paper, we prove the following version of conformal CR positive mass theorem: Suppose that \((N, J,\theta )\) and \((N, J,\hat{\theta }=e^{2f}\theta )\) are three-dimensional asymptotically flat pseudohermitian manifolds such that their Tanaka-Webster curvatures satisfy \(e^{2f}\hat{R}-R\ge 0.\) Then the p-mass of \((N, J, \theta )\) and \((N, J, \hat{\theta })\) satisfy \( m(J, \hat{\theta })-m(J, \theta )\ge 0, \) and equality holds if and only if \(\hat{\theta }=\theta \). We also prove that the p-mass is independent of the choice of the sequence of coordinates spheres.  相似文献

We study nonlinear elliptic equations in divergence form
$$\text {div }{\mathcal A}(x,Du)=\text {div } G.$$
When \({\mathcal A}\) has linear growth in D u, and assuming that \(x\mapsto {\mathcal A}(x,\xi )\) enjoys \(B^{\alpha }_{\frac {n}\alpha , q}\) smoothness, local well-posedness is found in \(B^{\alpha }_{p,q}\) for certain values of \(p\in [2,\frac {n}{\alpha })\) and \(q\in [1,\infty ]\). In the particular case \({\mathcal A}(x,\xi )=A(x)\xi \), G = 0 and \(A\in B^{\alpha }_{\frac {n}\alpha ,q}\), \(1\leq q\leq \infty \), we obtain \(Du\in B^{\alpha }_{p,q}\) for each \(p<\frac {n}\alpha \). Our main tool in the proof is a more general result, that holds also if \({\mathcal A}\) has growth s?1 in D u, 2 ≤ sn, and asserts local well-posedness in L q for each q > s, provided that \(x\mapsto {\mathcal A}(x,\xi )\) satisfies a locally uniform VMO condition.

Let \(X=G/K\) be a symmetric space of noncompact type and rank \(k\ge 2\). We prove that horospheres in X are Lipschitz \((k-2)\)-connected if their centers are not contained in a proper join factor of the spherical building of X at infinity. As a consequence, the distortion dimension of an irreducible \(\mathbb {Q}\)-rank-1 lattice \(\Gamma \) in a linear, semisimple Lie group G of \(\mathbb R\)-rank k is \(k-1\). That is, given \(m< k-1\), a Lipschitz m-sphere S in (a polyhedral complex quasi-isometric to) \(\Gamma \), and a \((m+1)\)-ball B in X (or G) filling S, there is a \((m+1)\)-ball \(B'\) in \(\Gamma \) filling S such that \({{\mathrm{vol}}}B'\sim {{\mathrm{vol}}}B\). In particular, such arithmetic lattices satisfy Euclidean isoperimetric inequalities up to dimension \(k-1\).  相似文献
