Octakis(DMSO)lanthanoid(III) iodides (DMSO = dimethylsulfoxide), [Ln(OS(CH3)2)8]I3, of most lanthanoid(III) ions in the series from La to Lu have been studied in the solid state and in DMSO solution by extended X-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) spectroscopy. L3-edge and also some K-edge spectra were recorded, which provided mean Ln-O bond distances for the octakis(DMSO)lanthanoid(III) complexes. The agreement with the average of the Ln-O bond distances obtained in a separate study by X-ray crystallography was quite satisfactory. The crystalline octakis(DMSO)lanthanoid(III) iodide salts have a fairly broad distribution of Ln-O bond distances, ca. 0.1 A, with a few disordered DMSO ligands. Their EXAFS spectra are in excellent agreement with those obtained for the solvated lanthanoid(III) ions in DMSO solution, both of which show slightly asymmetric distributions of the Ln-O bond distances. Hence, all lanthanoid(III) ions are present as octakis(DMSO)lanthanoid(III) complexes in DMSO solution, with the mean Ln-O distances centered at 2.50 (La), 2.45 (Pr), 2.43 (Nd), 2.41 (Sm), 2.40 (Eu), 2.39 (Gd), 2.37 (Tb), 2.36 (Dy), 2.34 (Ho), 2.33 (Er), 2.31 (Tm), and 2.29 A (Lu). This decrease in the Ln-O bond distances is larger than expected from the previously established ionic radii for octa-coordination. This indicates increasing polarization of the LnIII-O(DMSO) bonds with increasing atomic number. However, the S(1s) electron transition energies in the sulfur K-edge X-ray absorption near-edge structure (XANES) spectra, probing the unoccupied molecular orbitals of lowest energy of the DMSO ligands for the [Ln(OS(CH3)2)8](3+) complexes, change only insignificantly from Ln = La to Lu. This indicates that there is no appreciable change in the sigma-contribution to the S-O bond, probably due to a corresponding increase in the contribution from the sulfur lone pair to the bonding.  相似文献

The structure of the extraction complexes of light lanthanides (La(III), Nd(III), Eu(III)) with bis(2,4,4-trimethylpentyl)dithiophosphinic acid (HBTMPDTP) have been characterized with extended X-ray absorption fine structure spectroscopy (EXAFS), IR, and MS; the IR spectrum of the extraction complex of (241)Am with HBTMPDTP has been studied too. The molecular formula of the extraction complexes of lanthanides is deduced to be HML(4).H(2)O (M = La, Nd, Eu; L = anion of HBTMPDTP). The coordination number of Ln(III) in the complexes is 8; the coordinated donor atoms are 7 sulfur atoms from 4 HBTMDTP molecules and 1 O atom from a hydrated water molecule. With the increase of the atomic number of Ln, the coordination bond lengths of Ln-O and Ln-S decrease in the complexes. For La(III), Nd(III), and Eu(III), the coordination bond lengths of Ln-O are 2.70, 2.56, and 2.50, respectively, the coordination bond lengths of Ln-S are 3.01, 2.91, and 2.84, respectively, and the average distances between Ln and P atoms are 3.60, 3.53, and 3.46, respectively. The structure of the extraction complexes of Ln(III) with HBTMDTP is different from that of the Am(III) extraction complex. The results of IR show that there is no water coordinated with Am in the extraction complex. The molecular formula of the complex of Am(III) is deduced as being HAmL(4), and there are 8 S atoms from 4 HBTMPDTP molecules coordinated with Am. Composition and structure differences of the extraction complexes may be one of the most most important factors affecting the excellent selectivity of HBTMPDTP for Am(III) over Ln(III).  相似文献

Complexes of lanthanoid trinitrates Ln(NO3)3 with 15-crown-5 ether 1 (Ln = La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd) and with 18-crown-6 ether 2 (Ln = La, Ce, Pr, Nd) having a 1:1 stoichiometry as well as 4:3 complexes with 2 (Ln = La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd) have been synthesized and characterized. All the isolated complexes are solvent free. At 170–220° the 1:1 complexes of 2 are quantitatively transformed into 4:3 complexes. X-Ray powder diagrams of the neodymium complexes with 2 indicate that both the 1:1 and 4:3 complexes are genuine compounds. All the 1:1 complexes show a characteristic IR. absorption band at 875–880 cm?1 absent from both the spectra of the free ligands and of the 4:3 complexes. The spectroscopic properties (IR. and electronic spectra, fluorescence lifetimes) of the complexes and the low magnetic moments of the Ln(III) ions in the complexes with Ln = Ce-Eu are indicative of a strong interaction between the lanthanoid ions and the crown ethers 1 and 2 .  相似文献

The molecular structures of tris(dipivaloylmethanato)neodymium(III), Nd(dpm)3, and tris(dipivaloylmethanato)ytterbium(III), Yb(dpm)3, have been determined by gas electron diffraction (GED) and structure optimizations through density functional theory (DFT) calculations. Both molecules were found to have D3 molecular symmetry. The most important structure parameters (r(a) structure) are as follows (GED/DFT): Nd-O = 2.322(5)/2.383 A, Yb-O = 2.208(5)/2.243 A, O-Nb-O = 72.1(3)/71.3 degrees , and O-Yb-O = 75.3(2)/75.8 degrees . The twist angles of the LnO6 coordination polyhedron, defined as zero for prismatic and 30 degrees for antiprismatic coordination, were theta = 19.1(3)/14.2 degrees for Nd and 20.4(2)/19.2 degrees for Yb. Structure optimizations of La(dpm)3, Gd(dpm)3 Er(dpm)3, and Lu(dpm)3 by DFT also yielded equilibrium structures of D3 symmetry with bond distances of La-O = 2.438 A, Gd-O = 2.322 A, Er-O = 2.267 A, and Lu-O = 2.232 A. The Ln-O bond distances in 12 Ln(dpm)3 complexes studied by GED decrease in a nearly linear manner with the increasing atomic number (Z) of the metal atom, as do the Ln-O bond distances in the cubic modifications of 14 sesquioxides, Ln2O3. The bond distances in the dpm complexes are, however, about 2% shorter. The mean Ln-O bond rupture enthalpies of the cubic sesquioxides calculated from thermodynamic data in the literature vary in an irregular manner with the atomic number; the La-O, Gd-O, Tb-O, and Lu-O bonds are nearly equally strong, and the remaining bonds are significantly weaker. The Ln-O bond rupture enthalpies previously reported for 11 Ln(dpm)3 complexes are on the average 13 kJ mol(-1) or about 5% smaller than in the sesquioxides, but they vary in a similar manner along the series: it is suggested that the pattern reflects variations in the absolute enthalpies of the gaseous Ln atoms.  相似文献

Reactions of a range of the readily prepared and sterically tunable N,N'-bis(aryl)formamidines with lanthanoid metals and bis(pentafluorophenyl)mercury (Hg(C6F5)2) in THF have given an extensive series of tris(formamidinato)lanthanoid(III) complexes, [Ln(Form)3(thf)n], namely [La(o-TolForm)3(thf)2], [Er(o-TolForm)3(thf)], [La(XylForm)3(thf)], [Sm(XylForm)3], [Ln(MesForm)3] (Ln=La, Nd, Sm and Yb), [Ln(EtForm)3] (Ln=La, Nd, Sm, Ho and Yb), and [Ln(o-PhPhForm)3] (Ln=La, Nd, Sm and Er). [For an explanation of the N,N'-bis(aryl)formamidinate abbreviations used see Scheme 1.] Analogous attempts to prepare [Yb(o-TolForm)3] by this method invariably yielded [{Yb(o-TolForm)2(mu-OH)(thf)}2], but [Yb(o-TolForm)3] was isolated from a metathesis synthesis. X-ray crystal structures show exclusively N,N'-chelation of the Form ligands and a gradation in coordination number with Ln3+ size and with Form ligand bulk. The largest ligands, MesForm, EtForm and o-PhPhForm give solely homoleptic complexes, the first two being six-coordinate, the last having an eta1-pi-Ar--Ln interaction. Reaction of lanthanoid elements and Hg(C6F5)2 with the still bulkier DippFormH in THF resulted in C--F activation and formation of [Ln(DippForm)2F(thf)] (Ln=La, Ce, Nd, Sm and Tm) complexes, and o-HC6F4O(CH2)4DippForm in which the formamidine is functionalised by a ring-opened THF that has trapped tetrafluorobenzyne. Analogous reactions between Ln metals, Hg(o-HC6F4)2 and DippFormH yielded [Ln(DippForm)2F(thf)] (Ln=La, Sm and Nd) and 3,4,5-F3C6H2O(CH2)4DippForm. X-ray crystal structures of the heteroleptic fluorides show six-coordinate monomers with two chelating DippForm ligands and cisoid fluoride and THF ligands in a trigonal prismatic array. The organometallic species [Ln(DippForm)2(C[triple chemical bond]CPh)(thf)] (Ln=Nd or Sm) are obtained from reaction of Nd metal, bis(phenylethynyl)mercury (Hg(C[triple chemical bond]CPh)2) and DippFormH, and the oxidation of [Sm(DippForm)2(thf)2] with Hg(C[triple chemical bond]CPh)2, respectively. The monomeric, six-coordinate, cisoid [Ln(DippForm)2(C[triple chemical bond]CPh)(thf)] complexes have trigonal prismatic geometries and rare (for Ln) terminal C[triple chemical bond]CPh groups with contrasting Ln--C[triple chemical bond]C angles (Ln=Nd, 170.9(4) degrees; Ln=Sm, 142.9(7) degrees). Their formation lends support to the view that [Ln(DippForm)2F(thf)] complexes arise from oxidative formation and C--F activation of [Ln(DippForm)2(C6F5)] intermediates.  相似文献

Solid-state reactions of lanthanide(III) oxide (and/or lanthanide(III) oxychloride), MoO3 (or WO3), and TeO2 at high temperature lead to eight new luminescent compounds with four different types of structures, namely, Ln2(MoO4)(Te4O10) (Ln = Pr, Nd), La2(WO4)(Te3O7)2, Nd2W2Te2O13, and Ln5(MO4)(Te5O13)(TeO3)2Cl3 (Ln = Pr, Nd; M = Mo, W). The structures of Ln2(MoO4)(Te4O10) (Ln = Pr, Nd) feature a 3D network in which the MoO4 tetrahedra serve as bridges between two lanthanide(III) tellurite layers. La2(WO4)(Te3O7)2 features a triple-layer structure built of a [La2WO4]4+ layer sandwiched between two Te3O72- anionic layers. The structure of Nd2W2Te2O13 is a 3D network in which the W2O108- dimers were inserted in the large tunnels of the neodymium(III) tellurites. The structures of Ln5(MO4)(Te5O13)(TeO3)2Cl3 (Ln = Pr, Nd; M = Mo, W) feature a 3D network structure built of lanthanide(III) ions interconnected by bridging TeO32-, Te5O136-, and Cl- anions with the MO4 (M = Mo, W) tetrahedra capping on both sides of the Ln4 (Ln = Pr, Nd) clusters and the isolated Cl- anions occupying the large apertures of the structure. Luminescent studies indicate that Pr2(MoO4)(Te4O10) and Pr5(MO4)(Te5O13)(TeO3)2Cl3 (M = Mo, W) are able to emit blue, green, and red light, whereas Nd2(MoO4)(Te4O10), Nd2W2Te2O13, and Nd5(MO4)(Te5O13)(TeO3)2Cl3 (M = Mo, W) exhibit strong emission bands in the near-IR region.  相似文献

The reaction of LH3 with Ni(ClO4)(2).6H 2O and lanthanide salts in a 2:2:1 ratio in the presence of triethylamine leads to the formation of the trinuclear complexes [L2Ni2Ln][ClO4] (Ln=La (2), Ce (3), Pr (4), Nd (5), Sm (6), Eu (7), Gd (8), Tb (9), Dy (10), Ho (11) and Er (12) and L: (S)P[N(Me)NCH-C6H3-2-O-3-OMe]3). The cationic portion of these complexes consists of three metal ions that are arranged in a linear manner. The two terminal nickel(II) ions are coordinated by imino and phenolate oxygen atoms (3N, 3O), whereas the central lanthanide ion is bound to the phenolate and methoxy oxygen atoms (12O). The Ni-Ni separations in these complexes range from 6.84 to 6.48 A. The Ni-Ni, Ni-Ln and Ln-O phenolate bond distances in 2-12 show a gradual reduction proceeding from 2 to 12 in accordance with lanthanide contraction. Whereas all of the compounds (2-12) are paramagnetic systems, 8 displays a remarkable ST=(11)/2 ground state induced by an intramolecular Ni. . .Gd ferromagnetic interaction, and 10 is a new mixed metal 3d/4f single-molecule magnet generated by the high-spin ground state of the complex and the magnetic anisotropy brought by the dysprosium(III) metal ion.  相似文献

The reaction of Ln(NO3)3(aq) with K3[Fe(CN)6] or K3[Co(CN)6] and 2,2'-bipyridine in water/ethanol led to eight trinuclear complexes: trans-[M(CN)4(mu-CN)2{Ln(H2O)4(bpy)2}2][M(CN)6].8H2O (M = Fe3+ or Co3+, Ln = La3+, Ce3+, Pr3+, Nd3+, and Sm3+). The structures for the eight complexes [La2Fe] (1), [Ce2Fe] (2), [Pr2Fe] (3), [Nd2Fe] (4), [Ce2Co] (5), [Pr2Co] (6), [Nd2Co] (7), and [Sm2Co] (8) have been solved; they crystallize in the triclinic space group P and are isomorphous. They exhibit a supramolecular 3D architecture through hydrogen bonding and pi-pi stacking interactions. A stereochemical study of the nine-vertex polyhedra of the lanthanide ions, based on continuous shape measures, is presented. No significant magnetic interaction was found between the lanthanide(III) and the iron(III) ions.  相似文献

Studies on Ln[Co(CN)(6)].nH(2)O (Ln = lanthanoid ions; n = 5, 4) by means of thermal analysis, Raman spectroscopy, and X-ray crystallography were carried out, in order to establish the boundary structures in the series. From the thermal analyses, it was confirmed that the complexes include Ln'[Co(CN)(6)].5H(2)O (Ln' = La to Nd) or Ln"[Co(CN)(6)].4H(2)O (Ln = Sm to Lu). Raman spectra of the complexes suggested a different classification. The complexes having five H(2)O molecules displayed two single bands associated with nu(C-N) at around 2170 cm(-1). The complexes having four H(2)O molecules showed two distinct sets of bands of nu(C-N): one was a singlet, and the other was split. Nevertheless, the complex with Nd, which has five H(2)O molecules, exhibited single and split bands. This implies that the symmetry around Nd is lower than that of other complexes having five H(2)O molecules. According to the X-ray crystal analysis, the Pr complex is Pr[Co(CN)(6)].5H(2)O, hexagonal, P6(3)/m, with a = 7.473(1) ?, c = 14.212(1) ?, and Z = 2. On the other hand, the Nd complex is Nd[Co(CN)(6)].5H(2)O, orthorhombic, C222(1), with a = 7.458(4) ?, b = 12.918(3) ?, c = 14.172(2) ?, and Z = 4. Although the Nd complex has five H(2)O molecules, the crystals are orthorhombic and belong to the space group C222(1). Therefore, the structure of Nd[Co(CN)(6)].5H(2)O is regarded as the boundary structure: one of the coordinated water molecules is disordered, although the structure is essentially the same as that of Pr[Co(CN)(6)].5H(2)O. As Pr in Pr[Co(CN)(6)].5H(2)O changes into Nd, the symmetry around the metal atom is lowered and thus the bands associated with nu(CN) in Nd[Co(CN)(6)].5H(2)O and Sm[Co(CN)(6)].4H(2)O outnumber those of Pr[Co(CN)(6)].5H(2)O. The 5H(2)O complex with Nd loses one water molecule by thermal dissociation and changes into the more stable 4H(2)O complex, whose crystals are orthorhombic and belong to the space group Cmcm. Pr[Co(CN)(6)].5H(2)O also changes into the 4H(2)O complex, orthorhombic and Cmcm, when it dehydrates.  相似文献

Preparation and Crystal Structure of (4-Picolinium)[LnCl4(H2O)3] (Ln = La, Ce, Pr, Nd) The complex water containing chlorides (4-Picolinium)[LnCl4(H2O)3] (Ln = La, Ce, Pr, Nd) were prepared for the first time, and the crystal structures of (4-Picolinium)[LnCl4(H2O)3] (Ln = La, Pr) were determined on single crystals by X-ray methods. The isotypic compounds crystallize with triclinic symmetry, space group P1 , Z = 2. Surprisingly there exist the dimeric complex anions [Ln2Cl8(H2O)6]2? (Ln = La, Pr).  相似文献

Lanthanide(III) complexes of the general formula [Ln(ACAB)(2)(NO(3))(2)(H(2)O)(2)].NO(3).H(2)O where Ln=La(III), Pr(III), Nd(III), Sm(III), Eu(III), Gd(III), Tb(III), Dy(III) and Y(III), ACAB=3-acetylcoumarin-o-aminobenzoylhydrazone have been isolated and characterised based on elemental analyses, molar conductance, IR, (1)H- and (13)C-NMR, UV, TG/DTA and EPR spectral studies. The ligand behaves in bidentate fashion coordinating through hydrazide >C=O and nitrogen of >C=N. A coordination number of ten is assigned to the complexes. Antibacterial and Antifungal studies indicate an enhancement of activity of the ligand on complexation.  相似文献

We report structure analysis of a new family of rare-earth hydroxides Ln(2)(OH)(4)SO(4)·2H(2)O (Ln = Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb) from synchrotron X-ray and electron diffraction data. Rietveld profile analysis revealed that all members were isostructural and crystallized in a face-centered monoclinic system A2/m (No. 12), in which the monoclinic angles were approximately equal to the right angle, varying from 90.387(1)° for Pr sample to 90.0718(3)° for Tb sample. The structure consisted of LnO(9) polyhedra connected by μ(3)-hydroxyl groups and μ(2)-water molecules, forming a corrugated two-dimensional layer, which was pillared by bidentated sulfate ions. This series of compounds had a supercell a' = 2a, b' = 2b because of the local orientation ordering of SO(4)(2-). Structural features along the series, such as unit-cell parameters and average Ln-O distances, represented a progressive contraction associated with the shrinking radius of the lanthanide cations from Pr to Tb.  相似文献

The air and moisture stable complexes [Ln{HB(C3N2H3)3}2{MeC(O)CHC(O)Me}] (Ln = La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Yb, Lu, Y), have been prepared and characterized. The molecular structures of the compounds with Ln = Ce and Yb reveal that a substantial distortion of the coordination geometry found for Ce3+ is necessary to allow the ligand set to accommodate the smaller Yb3+ ion.  相似文献

Reactions of laser-ablated early lanthanoid atoms (Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, and Eu, except for radioactive Pm) with N 2O molecules in excess argon have been investigated using matrix-isolation infrared spectroscopy. Lanthanoid monoxide-dinitrogen complexes, OLn(N 2) (Ln = Ce, Pr, Nd, and Sm), are observed during sample deposition and identified on the basis of isotopic shifts, mixed isotopic splitting patterns, and CCl 4-doping experiments, whereas no new product is observed for Eu. The OLnNN (+) (Ln = Ce, Pr, Nd, and Sm) cations appear during sample deposition and increase visibly upon broadband irradiation (lambda > 250 nm) at the expense of the neutral OLn(N 2) complexes. Density functional theory calculations have been performed on the new products, which support identification of the OLn(N 2) and OLnNN (+) complexes from the matrix infrared spectra.  相似文献

The local structures of lanthanoid(III) chloranilate complexes of Pr(III), Nd(III), Tb(III) and Er(III) have been studied by EXAFS (extended X-ray absorption fine structure). Hydrated structures of the lanthanoid(III) ions in these complexes have been investigated with respect to their coordination numbers and interatomic distances. Six or four water molecules coordinate to the lanthanoid(III) ion of Pr(III) or Nd(III), respectively, just after preparation of the complexes. The temperature dependence of the first coordinated structures has been studied in order to reveal the behavior of the coordinated water molecules in dehydration process. The coordination number around the central lanthanoid(III) ion decreases stepwise as temperature increases, depending on the type of central lanthanoid(III) ion present. The interatomic distance between the central lanthanoid(III) ion and oxygen atoms in the first shell decreases, accompanying the decrease of the coordination numbers. A parameter representing proportion shows the reduction of interatomic distance as one coordinated water molecule removes from the central ion, depending on the type of lanthanoid(III) ions.  相似文献

The luminescence method, mass spectrometry, and elemental analysis are used to reveal that under optimal conditions (pH 5–8) Ln3+ ions (Ln = Pr, Sm, Eu, Nd, and Yb) with 1-(2-hydroxy-4-methylphenyl)-3-(5-methyl-1-phenyl-1 H-1,2,3-triazol-4-yl)propane-1,3-dione form complexes with the mole ratio Ln: ligand = 2: 3. According to the IR spectral data, Ln3+ ions coordinate three oxygen atoms of two carbonyl groups and one hydroxyl group. In the IR spectra of the complexes, an intense band at 628.7 cm?1 is assigned to the Ln-O bond vibrations. The X-ray diffraction patterns of the complexes contain no lines corresponding to the ligand. The luminescence intensity of the complexes in the visible spectral range changes in the series Eu(III) > Sm(III) > Pr(III), whereas in the IR region the order is Yb(III) > Nd(III). In all cases, luminescence of the solid complexes is considerably more intense than that of their solutions.  相似文献

Based on an unsymmetrical 2-pyridylphosphonate ligand, two types of Ln(III)-Cu(II) compounds with three-dimensional structures were obtained under hydrothermal conditions, namely, Ln(2)Cu(3)(C(5)H(4)NPO(3))(6).4H(2)O (1.Ln; Ln=La, Ce, Pr, Nd) and Ln(2)Cu(3)(C(5)H(4)NPO(3))(6) (2.Ln; Ln=Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho). Compounds 1.Ln are isostructural and crystallize in chiral cubic space group I2(1)3. In these structures, each Ln ion is nine-coordinate and has a tricapped triprismatic geometry, while each Cu center is six-coordinate with an octahedral environment. The {LnO(9)} polyhedra and {CuN(2)O(4)} octahedra are connected by edge sharing to form an inorganic open framework structure with a 3-connected 10-gon (10,3) topology in which the Ln and Cu atoms are alternately linked by the phosphonate oxygen atoms. Compounds 2.Ln are isostructural and crystallize in trigonal space group R3. In these structures, the {LnO(6)} octahedra are triply bridged by the {CPO(3)} tetrahedra by corner sharing to form an infinite chain along the c axis. Each chain is connected to its six equivalents through corner sharing of {CPO(3)} tetrahedra and {CuN(2)O(2)} planes to form a three-dimensional framework structure in which the Ln and Cu atoms are linked purely by O-P-O units. The formation of these two types of structures is rationalized by quantum chemical calculations, which showed that both the lanthanide contraction and the electron configuration of Cu(II) play important roles. When Cu(II) was replaced by Zn(II), only the first type of compounds resulted. The magnetic properties of complexes 1.Ln and 2.Ln were investigated. The nature of Ln(III)-Cu(II) (Ln=Ce, Pr, Nd) interactions is illustrated by comparison with their Ln(III)-Zn(II) analogues.  相似文献
