The aim of this paper is to give a convergence proof of a numerical method for the Dirichlet problem on doubly connected plane regions using the method of reflection across the exterior boundary curve (which is analytic) combined with integral equations extended over the interior boundary curve (which may be irregular with infinitely many angular points).  相似文献

We deal with the distributions of holomorphic curves and integral points off divisors. We will simultaneously prove an optimal dimension estimate from above of a subvariety W off a divisor D which contains a Zariski dense entire holomorphic curve, or a Zariski dense D-integral point set, provided that in the latter case everything is defined over a number field. Then, if the number of components of D is large, the estimate leads to the constancy of such a holomorphic curve or the finiteness of such an integral point set. In this note we give an explicit parametrization of the modular curve associated to the normalizer of a non-split Cartan subgroup of level 9. We determine all integral points of this modular curve. As an application, we give an alternative solution to the class number one problem.  相似文献

For the computation of the singular behavior of an elastic field near a three-dimensional vertex subject to displacement boundary conditions we use a boundary integral equation of the first kind whose unknown is the boundary stress. Localization at the vertex and Mellin transformation yield a one-dimensional integral equation on a piecewise circular curve γ in IR3 depending holomorphically on the complex Mellin parameter. The corresponding spectral points and packets of generalized eigenvectors characterize the desired stress field and are computed by a spline-Galerkin method with graded meshes at the corner points of the curve γ. © 1993 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

The method of solution continuation with respect to a parameter is used to solve an initial value problem for a system of ordinary differential equations with several limiting singular points. The solution is continued using an argument (called the best) measured along the integral curve of the problem. Additionally, a modified argument is introduced that is locally equivalent to the best one in the considered domain. Theoretical results are obtained concerning the conditioning of the Cauchy problem parametrized by the modified argument in a neighborhood of each point of its integral curve.  相似文献

This is the third of a series of papers relating intersections of special cycles on the integral model of a Shimura surface to Fourier coefficients of Hilbert modular forms. More precisely, we embed the Shimura curve over ℚ associated to a rational quaternion algebra into the Shimura surface associated to the base change of the quaternion algebra to a real quadratic field. After extending the associated moduli problems over ℤ we obtain an arithmetic threefold with a embedded arithmetic surface, which we view as a cycle of codimension one. We then construct a family, indexed by totally positive algebraic integers in the real quadratic field, of codimension two cycles (complex multiplication points) on the arithmetic threefold. The intersection multiplicities of the codimension two cycles with the fixed codimension one cycle are shown to agree with the Fourier coefficients of a (very particular) Hilbert modular form of weight 3/2. The results are higher dimensional variants of results of Kudla-Rapoport-Yang, which relate intersection multiplicities of special cycles on the integral model of a Shimura curve to Fourier coefficients of a modular form in two variables.  相似文献

Consider a surface x, bounded by a smooth surface in Euclidean n-space and by a smooth curve having its end points on the boundary surface. Let x minimize Dirichlet's integral in the class of all such surfaces x. Then it is known that the trace of x on the boundary surface is a continuous curve. Suppose the parametric form of a curve is not known, but only a set of observations. Quadrature formulae can be used to integrate a function only known from a set of data points. However, the results will be unreliable if the data contains measurement errors (noise). The method presented here fits an even degree piecewise polynomial to the data where all the data points are being used as knot points and the smoothing parameter is optimal for the indefinite integral of the curve which happens to be a smoothing spline. After the smoothing parameter has been chosen, this approach is less computationally expensive than fitting a smoothing spline and integrating.  相似文献

For a smooth curve in the Euclidean spaces, the total squared curvature is defined as the integral of the square of the curvature. If one takes three points on the curve which are close to one another, the reciprocal of the radius of the circle passing through those points approximates the curvature. We study the relationship between rational points and Galois points for a plane curve over a finite field. It is known that the set of Galois points coincides with that of rational points of the projective plane if the curve is the Hermitian, Klein quartic or Ballico–Hefez curve. The author proposes a problem: Does the converse hold true? If the curve of genus zero or one has a rational point, we have an affirmative answer.  相似文献

We construct a finite subgroup of Brauer–Manin obstruction for detecting the existence of integral points on integral models of homogeneous spaces of linear algebraic groups of multiplicative type. As an application, the strong approximation theorem for linear algebraic groups of multiplicative type is established. We pose and study a rather particular integral geometry problem. In the two-dimensional space we consider all possible straight lines that cross some domain. The known data consist of the integrals over every line of this kind of an unknown piecewise smooth function that depends on both points of the domain and the variables characterizing the lines. The object we seek is the discontinuity curve of the integrand. This problem arose in the author’s previous research in X-ray tomography. In essence, it is a generalization of one mathematical aspect of flaw detection theory, but seems of interest in its own right. The main result of this article is the construction of a special function that can be unbounded only near the required curve. Precisely for this reason we call the function the indicator of contact boundaries. A uniqueness theorem for the solution follows rather easily from the property of indicators.  相似文献

Here we study the Hilbert function of a Cohen-Macaulay homogeneous domain over an algebraically closed field of positive characteristic. The main tool (and an essential part of the main geometrical results) is the study of the Hilbert function of a general hyperplane section X?P r of an integral curve C?P r+1 , which is pathological in some sense. In §1, we study the case when Cis a strange curve, i.e., all tangent lines to Cat its simple points pass through a fixed point υ∈P r+1 . In this paper, the stability properties, the endpoint behavior and the invertible relations of Cauchy-type singular integral operators over an open curve are discussed. If the endpoints of the curve are not special, this type of operators are proved to be stable. At the endpoints, either the singularity or smoothness of the operators are exactly described. And the function sets or spaces on which the operators are invertible as well as the corresponding inverted operators are given.
